Introduction and Aim. Premature skin aging results from both intrinsic and extrinsic factors, requiring a comprehensive management strategy. This review evaluates current and emerging approaches for preventing and treating premature skin aging, focusing on efficacy and safety. Materials and Methods. A review of recent scientific literature on topical, oral, and procedural interventions for managing premature skin aging was conducted. Analysis of Literature. Topical treatments, particularly retinoids and antioxidants, are key in skin regeneration and oxidative stress reduction. Oral interventions, including systemic retinoids and nutraceuticals, support overall skin health. Procedural methods like laser therapies, microneedling, and chemical peels are effective in skin rejuvenation. Preventive measures, such as photoprotection and lifestyle changes, are crucial. Emerging therapies, such as stem cell treatments, show promise in reversing age-related skin changes. Conclusion. Managing premature skin aging requires a combination of topical, oral, and procedural treatments with preventive strategies. Future research should focus on refining protocols, assessing novel therapies' long-term safety, and developing personalized approaches considering genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors.

This study delves into the intricate dynamics of governmentality in the context of rural community development in Nigeria. It examines diverse participant perceptions of governmentality initiatives, highlighting the influence of socio-cultural and economic contexts. The research also assesses the impact of these initiatives on rural development outcomes, emphasizing improvements in infrastructure, community engagement, and socio-economic conditions. Challenges, including resource constraints and transparency issues, are explored, along with the pivotal role of community participation and effective communication. The findings underscore the significance of contextspecific approaches, community involvement, and addressing regional disparities in rural development. The study provides valuable insights for policymakers and practitioners, advocating for nuanced strategies that account for the unique characteristics of Nigeria’s rural communities. Recommendations encompass tailored approaches, transparency, capacity building, resource mobilization, and cultural preservation. By heeding these recommendations, stakeholders can enhance the effectiveness of governmentality-oriented initiatives, fostering sustainable and equitable development across diverse regions.

Introduction Nowadays, heart failure is one of the most serious health problems. In Poland, about a million people struggle with it. This is due to several demographic and epidemiological trends, m.in. the improvement of the health care system and the aging of the population. Cardiovascular diseases are a huge challenge for the healthcare system, as they are considered the main cause of death in Poland. The basic assumption of the treatment of the disease includes the improvement of the quality of life Aim of the study: The aim of the study was to assess acceptance of the disease in patients with heart failure receiving outpatient medical care. Material and methods: The research was carried out on a group of 100 patients from NZOZ "Vita". To carry out the research, the author's questionnaire and the Standardized Questionnaire: AIS and LOT-R were used, and appropriate consents were obtained for their use in the work. Results In the study group, the level of disease acceptance according to the AIS in patients with heart failure treated on an outpatient basis was medium and high (48%; n=48 vs. 48%; n=48). Among the respondents, the largest group (46%; n=46) were people with an average level of optimism according to LOT-R. In people with heart failure, the most common comorbidities were diabetes, hypertension and bronchial asthma. Additional diseases did not have a statistically significant impact on the acceptance of the disease among the examined patients (p>0.05). The importance of religion as well as spiritual development in the respondents' lives did not influence their acceptance of the disease (p>0.05). Respondents with an optimistic attitude more often represented a higher level of acceptance of the disease according to the AIS than those with a pessimistic attitude (p=0.005). Conclusions Acceptance of the disease is the final stage of adaptation to the disease, it manifests itself in the recognition of limitations and losses that result from the occurrence of a given disease entity. Therefore, accepting the disease brings many benefits that ultimately improve the course of the disease and further prognosis.

Introduction and objective: Obesity has become an important public health issue in Poland. Furthermore, it is one of the most common preventable causes of diseases and mortality. Pharmacological methods of treating obesity have been developing significantly in recent years.Tirzepatide is a new dual incretin receptor agonist that activates both GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) and GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptors. The aim of this review is to assess the effectiveness of this medication in reducing body weight. Current state of knowledge: According to data from the Central Statistical Office (GUS) in Poland, 65% of men and 49% of women are struggling with the issue of excessive body weight [1]. Obesity in Polish society is steadily increasing in every age group. However, it affects most significantly children aged 7-13 years and adolescents. In 2022, the novel dual GLP and GIP-1 agonist has been registered for the treatment of type 2 diabetes which is not satisfactorily controlled. It can be also used together with diet and physical activity in patients diagnosed with obesity (BMI of 30 kg/m2 or more) or who are overweight (BMI 27-30 kg/m2) and have weight-related health problems such as hypertension, metabolic syndrome, dislipidaemia and diabetes mellitus [2]. Summary: The increasing prevalence of obesity leads to a dynamic search for the most effective pharmacological methods of treating obesity. The combined activation of GLP-1 and GIP receptors by Tirzepatide has been shown to have additional benefits beyond satisfying glucose control. The biological mechanism of action of this medication additionally causes decreased food intake, slowed gastric emptying and enhanced insulin secretion, all of which can contribute to weight reduction.

Introduction and purpose: The impact of electronic devices on our daily lives is becoming increasingly significant. The contemporary generation of young people is growing up in a world where smartphones, tablets, computers, and other electronic devices are widely available and utilized. Scientists are contemplating the challenges posed by excessive exploitation of electronics on the health of young individuals. The aim of the article is to present the harmful effects of using electronic devices before sleep in young people, considering medical aspects such as sleep disorders and their influence on overall psychophysical health. Summary: Electronic devices negatively affect the sleep of young people by reducing sleep time and delaying the sleep onset phase. The main problem is the use of electronic devices without time limits. In the era of technology, it is significantly important to raise awareness among young people about the importance of sleep hygiene and how blue light emitted by electronic devices affects its quality.

Infections with the human papillomavirus (HPV) are one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases and are the main cause of precancerous changes and cervical cancer development. However, mere infection does not guarantee the development of disease or carcinogenesis. For this to occur, high-risk types of HPV must integrate into the host cell genome, transitioning into a persistent form of infection. Following the discovery of risk factors for HPV infection and factors predisposing infection to a persistent form, the number of studies investigating the correlation between vaginal dysbiosis and infection has significantly increased. Numerous studies document a significant association between the state of vaginal bacterial flora and HPV infection, leading to the development of plentiful studies on infection pathogenesis, risk factors, prevention, and treatment methods using bacteria. In this paper, based on recently published studies and current state of science knowledge, we will outline the topic of vaginal microbiome, emphasize the importance of bacteria inhabiting the vagina for human health, and identify the problem of changes in vaginal microflora. We would like to contribute to the dissemination of knowledge about the vaginal microbiome and general knowledge about taking care of its health. We will also summarize available treatment methods based on bacterial environment and discuss those methods for which research is currently underway or should be initiated.

Withania somnifera, commonly known as ashwagandha, has gained popularity in recent years among individuals interested in healthy lifestyles, natural medicine, and sports. This review aims to summarize the current knowledge regarding the effects of ashwagandha supplementation on various aspects of physical performance, particularly in the context of resistance training. Studies have shown that ashwagandha can positively impact muscle strength, with significant increase of muscle force and power output. Additionally, it has demonstrated potential in modulating body composition, with reduction of body fat percentage noted in certain populations. However, results of studies on ashwagandha’s effect on muscle size remain inconclusive and may depend on various factors such as training status and individual responses. In terms of endurance, ashwagandha supplementation has been associated with improvement in maximal oxygen uptake, indicating enhanced aerobic capacity and delayed exhaustion during endurance activities. Furthermore, ashwagandha was shown to aid muscle recovery by reducing exercise-induced muscle damage and inflammatory response, potentially accelerating the muscle regeneration process. Ashwagandha may also influence hormone levels, such as testosterone and cortisol, with potential implications for muscle growth and recovery. However, further research is needed to fully understand the mechanisms underlying these effects. Overall, ashwagandha supplementation appears to hold promise for enhancing physical performance and overall well-being. Further research is needed to elucidate optimal dosages, long-term safety, and potential interactions with other supplements or medications.

Introduction: Anticoagulants have been discovered and developed over past 100 years. At the beginning unfractionated heparin found its applications, just later to fade into the background of newer and more effective drugs. Patients have been treated with more progressive medications – Low-Molecule-Weight Heparin (LMWH), Vitamin K Antagonists (VKA) and Novel Oral Anticoagulants (NOAC). As for today, deemed a turning point in anticoagulant therapy are inhibitors of factor XI. It is a ground-breaking innovation as it ensures high prevention of thrombotic episodes and guarantees intact physiological hemostasis.Current State of Knowledge: The coagulation cascade and molecules part taking in that have been discovered and described extensively and in detail. Unfractionated heparin is the oldest out of all and despite its simple action mechanism and adverse effects, is still a requested drug. Its lighter form, low-molecule-weight-heparin (LMWH) is an enhancement to the previous treatment due to its higher bioavailability and fewer side effects. Vitamin K antagonists (VKAs) are widely spread in medical environment thanks to their expanded mechanism of action, oral administration and reversibility of their overdose, as well as their well-developed anti-side effect therapy. Novel Oral Anticoagulants (NOACs) have been introduced to the market about 10 years ago. In spite of NOACs short period of clinical use, they were a huge change to the previous treating methods. Currently, the newest innovation in anticoagulant therapy are inhibitors of factor XI and its clinical trials outcome is promising for the future.Summary: The present article discusses history of anticoagulant drugs, their mechanism of action and usage but also focuses on the recent perspectives and developments as new anticoagulant drugs are being put to the test in therapeutic trials. The review underlines the importance of improvements in old therapeutic methods and exploring the new, more suitable ones.

SPECIFIC FEATURES OF OLD POLISH LANGUAGE AND GRAMMATICAL ANNOTATION: LEMMATIZATION OF OLD POLISH TEXTS The article is dedicated to grammatical annotation of Old Polish texts. It discusses the problem with the lemmatization of a medieval text. In the Apocrypha tool, a lemma is not the same as the basic form of a word. It is only a dictionary form, or a kind of a label. The author of the article presents the reasons for this decision and the adopted rules for assigning lemmas to different grammatical classes. The article also shows the criteria of the repartition of lemmas. These criteria are the frequency of the basic form in the text or texts, the persistence of the form or the differentiation of meanings. Third person pronouns turned out to be particularly difficult for lemmatization. According to the accepted rules, they have a gender, but do not conjugate with a gender (which forced, for example, the adoption of the masculine lemma ONY). The other examples are forms such as siebie, sobie [self], for which the lemma JA was adopted. The article also describes the issues of determining the lemma boundary when annotating words conjugated with different single morphemes: particles, agglutinants or residual forms of personal pronouns. All of the solutions adopted in the tool and presented in the article aimed at respecting the Old Polish language specific features while facilitating the analysis of the material.

SOCIOLINGUISTIC ANNOTATION IN THE CORPUS OF OLD POLISH DRAMATIC TEXTS (1772–1939) The article presents the criteria applied in the sociolinguistic annotation in the Corpus of old Polish dramatic texts (1772–1939) (KorTeDa). This level of annotation was about assigning the three basic sociolinguistic variables: age, sex and social status to all the utterances of drama characters (except for collective statements). Six values were selected for determining age (underage, young adult, middle- aged adult, older adult (senior), indeterminate adult, indeterminate); three for sex (female, male, indeterminate); and four for social status (low, medium, high, indeterminate). The article shows the interdependence between those factors and the historical, social and cultural context. Additionally, the authors illustrated substantial and technical problems they faced during the process of this type of annotation. KorTeDa may become an important tool for analysing the history of the Polish language taking into account the methods of corpus linguistics and sociopragmatics.

Shaping children`s and youth`s identities from the perspective of dynamically changing societies after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian attack on Ukraine is one of the fundamental problems of educational and upbringing institutions. There is a lack of system solutions that take into account in the teaching and learning process both the pupil’s home culture (often different from the environment of current residence) and the culture experienced in the perspective of life and education. Coexistence, building the cultural structure of individuals in multicultural societies, is possible by introducing, from the first stages of education, a transcultural approach to creating the school`s reality. It also balances the chances of each pupil to find its references: experiences and values that shape individual and collective identity while establishing protection against “getting lost”. This article aims to present a pilot concept of work, which points to theoretical and practical solutions in the field of education for trans-culturalism in grades I-III. The concept should then be verified in the school environment from both teachers’ and students’ perspectives. It will make it possible to determine whether the planned activities and how they are presented are appropriate for children at the first stage of education and whether, based on the prepared material, it is possible to balance the chances of shaping the identity of individuals in multicultural environments.

Introduction and purpose: The joyous occasion of childbirth is often overshadowed by the prevalence of postpartum depression (PPD), a complex mental health condition affecting mothers globally. This paper reviews the current state of knowledge on PPD, exploring its frequency, risk factors, pathogenesis, symptoms, and impact on maternal and child health. Description of the State of Knowledge: Recent studies indicate an alarming increase in PPD rates, with notable racial and socioeconomic disparities. Symptoms of PPD, ranging from mild to severe include mood disturbances, cognitive impairments, and self-harm ideation. The repercussions extend beyond the postpartum period, affecting long-term child development, breastfeeding practices, and the mother-infant bond. Advancements in screening tools, particularly the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS), have facilitated early detection. However, creating an environment conducive to open communication about mental health remains a significant challenge. Interventions for PPD include psychotherapeutic approaches, pharmacological interventions, and complementary therapies. Brexanolone, the first FDA-approved drug for PPD, represents a significant breakthrough. Community-based and peer support programs, alongside a multidisciplinary approach involving healthcare professionals and support networks, have shown promise in alleviating PPD symptoms. Summary: In conclusion, PPD remains a substantial public health concern. Increased awareness of its multifaceted nature has led to improved screening, diagnosis, and intervention strategies. Ongoing dialogue, supportive environments, and refined treatments are essential for enhancing the well-being of both mothers and their infants in the postpartum period.

Prostate cancers represent a significant health problem, and their etiology is complex and multifaceted. It is estimated that in 2018, 1.3 million new cases and 359,000 deaths due to prostate cancer were diagnosed. They constitute the second most common group of cancers and the fifth most common cause of cancer-related deaths in men worldwide. The present study encompasses a literature review aimed at conducting an analysis of the potential of combined anticancer therapy as a prospective method for enhancing treatment efficacy, minimizing side effects, and improving long-term survival outcomes for prostate cancer patients. Combinations of compounds such as sunitinib with docetaxel, carboplatin with paclitaxel, estramustine or flutamide with luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone agonists, as well as docetaxel in conjunction with dexamethasone and octreotide, have demonstrated synergistic effects and an augmentation of therapeutic effectiveness. It is noteworthy to emphasize the potential enhancement of docetaxel's anticancer activity with concurrent administration of dexamethasone and octreotide, as well as combined therapy involving docetaxel, prednisone, and curcumin.

Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory disease with recurrent exacerbations, persistent itching, erythema, dry skin due to damage to the epidermal barrier, and staphylococcal infections. The causative factors are mutations in the gene encoding filaggrin, dysregulation of the immune system, changes in the skin microbiome and lipids in the stratum corneum and deficiency of antimicrobial peptides AMPs. The disease mainly affects children, causing a significant deterioration in the quality of life, and its first symptoms occur in approximately 90% before the age of 5. Lesions most often appear on the bends of elbows and knees, on the face and neck, but may also affect the skin of the entire body (erythroderma). The location of the eruptions depends on age. Atopic dermatitis is the result of complex genetic, epigenetic, environmental and immunological interactions with a coexisting epidermal barrier defect. The disease is diagnosed based on the Hanifin and Rajka criteria. Treatment of atopic dermatitis is symptomatic and selected individually. They include the elimination of provoking factors, care of the epidermal barrier, and anti-inflammatory and anti-pruritic therapy.

Introduction: In recent years, multiple publications underscored many beneficial properties associated with medical marihuana. Its current applications encompass pain relief, multiple sclerosis, the treatment of anxiety disorders, Dravet syndrome and other. It can potentially extent to the treatment of patients with fibromyalgia or in people with diabetic complications. The expansive potential of medical cannabis in the prevention and treatment of many diseases is seen in its complex and multidirectional mechanisms of action. Medical marihuana has impact on cannabinoid receptors, and it exerts effects through many other molecular targets. Aim of the study: This review seeks present mechanisms of action of medical marihuana and explore its potential therapeutic targets. Materials and methods: A comprehensive review of literature available in the PubMed and Google Scholar databases was performed, using the following keywords: "medical marihuana", "medical cannabis", "medical marihuana mechanism of action", "therapeutic targets of medical marihuana", "endocannabinoid system", “medical marihuana in pain treatment”, “medical marihuana amygdala body”, “medical marihuana serotonin receptors”. Conclusions: Medical marihuana emerges as a promising candidate in the treatment of many diseases and common condition. However, further research is imperative to ascertain the effects of the drug and transform it into an effective medication which maximizes benefits and minimalizes side effects.

Introduction: Metabolic syndrome is a wide-spread disease that affects even 30% of Polish population. The mentioned syndrome consists of: glucose intolerance, obesity, dyslipidaemia and high blood pressure. Change of lifestyle, particularly diet, is a crucial part of treatment of those issues. Artificial sweeteners are low-calorie or non-nutritive substances that are made for lowering sugar amounts in sweetened beverages. The use of artificial sweeteners rises among those, who want to lower their weight. Artificial sweeteners are well known substances, but their impact on health is still a matter of studies. We want to summarize the current knowledge about their impact on metabolic syndrome and its elements. Objectives: The review and presentation of the current state of knowledge on impact of artificial sweeteners on metabolic syndrome and its components. Material and methods: Review of the studies available on open access sources at PubMed, Google Scholar, National Library of Medicine and Coachrane. Conclusions: Currently there is no evidence of positive impact of artificial sweeteners on the metabolic syndrome. Moreover, new studies prove a negative impact of those substances at obesity, glucose intolerance, dyslipidaemia and blood pressure. However there is a need of further studies about physiology of gut microbiota and current subject to strengthen current depth of evidence.

Glaucoma is a group of progressive neuropathies of the optic nerve leading to the destruction of retinal ganglion cells and their axons. It is the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide, affecting over 70 million people residing in various geographical regions. This disease ranks second among the causes of blindness in patients. Up to 40% of them lose their vision within the first year of diagnosis.(1) The most common type of glaucoma affecting ophthalmic patients is open-angle glaucoma, in which the iridocorneal angle is not pathologically altered, but there is an elevation of intraocular pressure due to abnormal fluid flow within the eye. The main cause of this disease is obstruction of aqueous humor outflow from the eye and its excessive production. Although the exact mechanism of glaucoma is not fully understood yet, several risk factors have been identified, including high intraocular pressure (IOP), age, and genetics. Materials and Methods: Review and summary of research studies available in open-source format on Google Scholar, PubMed. Conclusions: There is ample evidence confirming the impact of food products on the risk of developing glaucoma or exacerbating its symptoms. However, further research is necessary to determine the extent of their interference with this disease entity.

Introduction: Obesity is a significant clinical problem worldwide. The disease exhibits remarkable heterogeneity, leading to diverse pathogenesis among individuals. Despite a growing selection of weight-reducing medications and increased awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle, the effectiveness of obesity therapy often remains insufficient. This raises the question of whether tailoring obesity pharmacotherapy to specific phenotypes and individual patient characteristics results in improved treatment outcomes. Objective: To review literature on the effectiveness of obesity treatment based on the personalization of pharmacotherapy according to its underlying causes. Current Knowledge: Currently, the early outcome of weight loss is closely linked to the long-term effectiveness of obesity pharmacotherapy. However, due to the diversity of obesity pathogenesis, it is not helpful in selecting therapy at the initiation of treatment. Specific characteristics are sought to indicate the appropriate drug during therapy planning. In a U.S. study (Acosta et al., 2021) results showed that phenotype-guided obesity pharmacotherapy resulted in clinically more significant absolute weight loss than in the non-phenotyped group. Other studies demonstrated that for very rare types of obesity dependent on specific genetic mutations, targeted treatment addressing these defects yielded the best therapeutic outcomes (recombinant human leptin therapy for patients with leptin gene mutation – Farooqi et al., 2002; setmelanotide therapy for individuals with proopiomelanocortin deficiency – Clément et al., 2020). The impact of specific gene variants on therapeutic response should also be considered, leading to variability in treatment effects for different patients using the same drug. Conclusion: The concept of basing therapy on obesity phenotypes may currently serve as a guide for treatment selection, although it still requires confirmation in randomized clinical trials.

This review explores the intricate relationship between dietary factors and lung cancer risk based on a thorough examination of relevant literature and articles. The findings highlight a significant association between specific dietary elements and lung cancer risk. Increased intake of fiber, fruit, and vitamin C is linked to a notable 9% reduction in risk, particularly for squamous cell carcinoma. Notably, vegetables exhibit a risk reduction for current smokers, while offal, red meat, and processed meat may elevate risk, especially in heavy smokers. Contradictory evidence surrounds dairy products, with fermented dairy inversely correlated. Beer and cider consumption are associated with an increased risk, primarily among current smokers. In contrast, avocados demonstrate a promising link to decreased lung cancer risk. Vitamin K intake shows an inverse relationship, particularly in males and ever smokers. High retinol intake may elevate risk, potentially modifying the effects of tobacco exposure. Nuts consumption is significantly linked to reduced lung cancer risk and overall cancer mortality. Dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) demonstrate a noteworthy risk reduction for lung cancer, with supplementation improving overall survival in patients with the disease. Palmitic acid, a component of saturated fatty acids, is implicated in promoting lung metastasis, emphasizing the intricate nature of dietary influences on cancer. In summary, while lung cancer is primarily associated with tobacco smoking, this review underscores the multifaceted interplay between diet and lung cancer risk. Further research is crucial to unravel underlying mechanisms and provide definitive evidence on the impact of specific dietary factors, emphasizing the importance of continued exploration in this complex field.

Examining energy and macronutrient requirements, micronutrient considerations, hydration strategies, and optimal timing of nutrition, this section synthesizes existing research to provide evidence-based guidelines. Furthermore, it addresses the unique challenges posed by different sports and the importance of tailored nutritional approaches for diverse athletic endeavors. The evolving landscape of sports nutrition is also explored, with a specific focus on the benefits and potential risks associated with protein and creatine supplementation. Due to the increasing number of patients suffering from diabetes mellitus scientists raise awareness of different symptoms that patients might present. The disease results from a defect in insulin secretion or action. Chronic hyperglycemia in diabetes causes damage and dysfunction of organs, especially the eyes, kidneys, nerves, heart and blood vessels. Diabetes can occur at any age and always requires treatment. A common non-specific symptom of untreated DM may be osteoarticular complications. Typical symptoms of diabetes include polyuria, increased thirst, dehydration, weakness and drowsiness. Complications of the disease include eyes, kidneys, nerves, microangiopathies, diabetic foot syndrome, bones, joints, skin. In all patients, the most important thing is to control glycemia from the beginning of the disease

Introduction and objective: The purpose of this paper is a systematic review of articles and research in the context of the relationship between genetic determinants of migraine and thyroid dysfunction. Materials and methods: A non-systematic review of the scientific literature was carried out according to the following keywords: PubMed was searched and 76 articles published up to 2023 were analyzed. Description of the state of knowledge: Epidemiological studies confirm the co-occurrence of migraine and thyroid dysfunction, especially hypothyroidism, which are considered to be diseases with a strong genetic background. Thyroid function parameters such as TSH and fT4 are susceptible to genetic influences. However, there is a lack of consistent interpretation of the observational results, which highlights the need for further research. Analysis of gene overlaps and links between headache and thyroid function, based on GWAS data, could shed light on the complex genetic interactions underlying this association. Introduction The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is a prevalent sports-related injury, constituting nearly half of knee injuries. This narrative review explores the evolution of ACL reconstruction surgeries, emphasizing graft types and their pros and cons. Current state of knowledge The ideal ACL graft choice depends on factors like age, lifestyle, and demands. Autografts are the current standard, with the Quadriceps Tendon graft offering similar outcomes and fewer complications. Allografts are a secondary option for older, low-demand patients due to a shorter recovery period. Artificial grafts have limited use, lacking strong evidence for clinical advantages but may be considered for suturing torn ACL stumps and in cases were quick recovery is essential. Summary Contemporary orthopedic practitioners must possess comprehensive knowledge of various ACL reconstruction graft types to tailor interventions precisely to individual patient requirements. The selection of a graft should be rooted in a profound comprehension of patients' lifestyles, medical histories, and specific demands, thereby mitigating the subjective impact of any associated limitations for the patient.

Anterior chest wall depression known as Pectus excavatum (PE) , is currently the most common congenital chest wall deformation, with incidence estimated at 1/400 births, five times more frequently in boys than girls (5:1 ratio in occurrence). 1 Etiology of this deformity is formed by several hypothesis, including overgrowth of the ribs, developmental failure of the bony thorax or weakness and abnormal flexibility of the sternum. While theoretical concepts of its origin may differ, the common ground is the characteristics of said deformation: a posterior depression of the sternum and the lower costal cartilages. 2 Surgical treatment options were described since 1949 with Ravitch procedure and since then a number of new ones has been developed. For many years Ravitch and Nuss procedures were the main way to treat pectus excavatum, with a growing bias towards latter one. Since the Nuss procedure characterizes with less invasive approach and fever overall complications 3 its popularity outgrew Ravitch procedure and currently is described as MIRPE – Minimally Invasive Pectus Excavatum Repair. 4 However afterward then many new techniques were developed, focusing on reducing overall procedure risks, improving patient safety and quality of life and including new technical possibilities. The aim of this study was to gather and evaluate current literature to highlight new treatment options.

Introduction: Obesity is one of the most challenging and popular problem in nowadays society. Overweight and obesity are connected with chronic complications, such as arterial hypertension, atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. Nonsurgical methods of weight loss were not positively conducted in significant part of obese population. It has given a chance to develop part of medicine known as bariatric surgery. Obesity is identified as an risk factor for sexual dysfunction. The aim of this article is to summarize the main findings of studies about the influence of bariatric surgery on sexual functions of obese male patients. Materials and methods: The study is based on medical articles gathered from PubMed database spanning the years 2016-2023 and article from National Institutes of Health and from Nutritionhospitalaria. The research was conducted through the analysis of keywords such as ”Obesity”, „Bariatric Surgery”, Sexual Dysfunction”, „Men”. Results: This review indicated that surgically inducted weight loss could improve sexual function in obese men. It is connected with important increase in IIEF score and serum testosteron level. It is a need for further clinical studies to explore association of sexual function after bariatric surgery.

Introduction and purpose: Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), had been spreading rapidly throughout the world, mainly affecting respiratory system. Except pulmonary symptoms, skin lesions might also occur. The precise percentage of patients with confirmed COVID-19 who presented cutaneous manifestations is still unknown (0.2% - 20.4%). Part of the skin lesions might be drug-induced. Brief description of the state of knowledge: Cutaneous manifestations in the course of the coronavirus disease could be divided into six main groups: maculopapular rash, urticarial lesions, chilblain‐like lesions, vesicular eruptions, petechial/purpuric lesions and livedoid lesions. The most common skin lesions are maculopapular eruptions (47%). Trunk is the most affected location, whereas pruritus is the most frequent additional symptom among patients with skin lesions associated with coronavirus disease. These lesions appear mainly in elderly patients except pseudo chilblains which are present among children and young adults with SARS-Cov-2 infection. The majority of cutaneous manifestations occur after COVID-19 systemic symptoms, but the appearance of vesicular lesions before the respiratory signs was also reported. Cutaneous manifestations resolved spontaneously at different times, ranging from a few days to 2-4 weeks. Moreover, patients with severe course of COVID-19 with maculopapular rash have better prognosis (2% mortality rate) in comparison to patients who developed livedoid lesions in course of the coronavirus disease (10% mortality rate). Summary: Pseudo-chilblains and vesicular lesions are the most specific cutaneous manifestations of coronavirus disease. Healthcare professionals should pay attention to patients who present skin symptoms in the course of COVID-19. Cutaneous manifestations can facilitate the doctor the diagnosis and even estimate the severity of coronavirus disease.

The advent of online media (including social media) has changed politics. At the same time, political communication is also changing. On the one hand, this is an inspiration and, on the other hand, a challenge for the scientific exploration of this research area. The interdisciplinarity of media science, which includes the study of political communication, prompts researchers to look for new research tools, especially in the field of data collection, analysis and visualisation. This leads to the incorporation of previously non-specific methods into the field of media studies. The aim of the article is to present social network analysis (SNA) as a method popular in American and European research, although still rarely present in Polish analyses of political communication. Abstract: Ingrown toenails, clinically known as onychocryptosis, represent a prevalent nail pathology. The clinical manifestation involves symptoms typical for a foreign body reaction and in severe cases, tissue hypertrophy with complications may occur. Key risk factors include improper nail care, trauma, obesity, tight footwear, poor foot hygiene, and genetic predisposition. The condition predominantly affects individuals between the first and the third decades of life and older adults, with a predilection for the great toe, especially the lateral skin fold. The Heifetz and Scholz classifications delineate the stages of ingrown toenails based on severity. Therapeutic approaches range from conservative procedures, such as taping, dental floss, gutter treatment, cotton nail cast, braces and super elastic wire to surgical interventions like partial or total nail avulsion, matricectomy and advanced techniques like the Vandebos procedure or the Winograd procedure. Although many studies have analysed available treatment methods, there is no consensus among specialists regarding the best therapeutic strategy. Complications include paronychia, infection, and scarring. A comprehensive therapeutic approach should consider clinical severity, patient preferences, and both conservative and surgical interventions, emphasizing the importance of larger randomized clinical trials to establish definitive guidelines.

Introduction: In the knee joint are two menisci, which are fibrocartilaginous structures. The tears of the meniscus are one of the most common injuries within knee. Arthroscopy with suturing of torn or menisectomy are the most popular methods of treatment, however in long term observation menisectomy often results in osteoarthritis 10-20 years after surgery. For this reason, less invasive treatment methods are being sought, such as platelet-rich plasma injections. Platelet-rich plasma has many growth factors, which stimulates healing. Objective: The aim of this study is to review latest the literature on the use of platelet-rich plasma injections in the patients with meniscus tears. Material and methods: A literature review was conducted on databases such as PubMed and Google Scholar using the terms: ”meniscus”, “meniscus tear”, “platelet-rich plasma”, “platelet-rich plasma injections”, “meniscus injuries treatment’. Conclusions: The injuries of meniscus are very common, and often must be treated by arthroscopy. Platelet-rich plasma has a positive impact on tissue healing. Platelet-rich plasma injuries in the patients with meniscal tears repair lead to improve healing rates compare with patients without PRP injections, but there is no guidelines and further studies are necessary.

Hair loss is a problem that affects many people around the world. Androgenic alopecia (AGA) is the most common cause of hair loss affecting up to 50% of men and 40% of women over the age of 50. This type of hair loss is mediated by androgens, the strongest of which is dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This hormone influences the weakening hair follicles. The problem of excess DHT and the associated androgenic hair loss may concern people practicing sports, especially aerobic disciplines of moderate and high intensity. In the recent decades, many topical and oral therapies have been introduced to delay and stop hair loss. However, commonly used medications have only a partial and temporary effect, therefore alternative treatment methods are needed. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is known, among other things, for its use in orthopedics. The use of PRP may benefit athletes in the treatment of injuries to tendons, ligaments, muscles and cartilage. Many publications indicate good results with the use of PRP in the treatment of hair loss. The aim of this study is to summarise the published reports on the effect of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on hair loss prevention in people with androgenic alopecia (AGA) and to analyse the papers discussing androgen levels in physically active people.

L-theanine is an amino-acid found in green tea (Camellia sinensis), a beverage consumed by people all around the world. Its chemical structure is similar to L-glutamic acid. L-theanine acts as an antagonist of AMPA and kainate receptors as well as partial co-agonist of the NMDA receptors. The application may be associated with several health benefits, such as improvements in cognition, reduction of stress and anxiety-like symptoms. Although the dosage of L-theanine in green tea, which is around 20 mg per tea, is not very likely to have meaningful impact on mental health, supplementation of doses 200-400 mg/day has shown some promising advantages. Despite some evidence towards beneficial impact of L-theanine on mental health, longer-term and larger cohort clinical studies are required in order to justify its application for patients suffering from such diseases as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and sleep disorders. What is more, it is more possible to act as a therapy augmentation in particular cases, rather than conventional therapy replacement.

Introduction and purpose: The main aim of our study is to summarise existing knowledge and draw conclusions about the impact of magnesium deficiency on the occurrence of anxiety. Methodology: The literature available in the National Library of Medicine database at https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov and Google Scholar was reviewed. Articles were searched by using keywords: magnesium, deficiency, supplementation, anxiety disorders. Forty-seven research papers and meta-analyses were analysed. Description of the state of knowledge: Magnesium is an extremely important mineral in the human body involved in many physiological processes. A deficiency of this element affects the whole body and can cause mental disorders - including anxiety disorders. There are many theories showing a link between magnesium and anxiety disorders in both humans and animals. Magnesium has been shown to influence the function of neurotransmitters affecting the experience of anxiety. Supplementation in people with hypomagnesaemia has been proven to improve their health and well-being. However, it should be noted that supplements on the market vary in the bioavailability of the mineral, and the frequency of intake and dosage also affect the bioavailability of magnesium. Conclusions: It is important to ensure adequate levels of magnesium in the diet, given its impact on the proper functioning of the human body (including the nervous system) and the fact that most people consume insufficient amounts of this macronutrient. Evidence of a link between magnesium levels and anxiety has led to increased interest in the potential efficacy of magnesium supplementation to alleviate anxiety symptoms.

This article analyzes activities focused on cultural heritage resources, undertaken from a local position. The theoretical considerations refer to the example of the Koniaków lace. This handicraft, despite the changing reality, for more than 100 years has continuously been a manifestation of the region’s tradition. Local lace makers adapt their forms to new emerging needs. The educational or commercial activity concentrated around the lace makes this skill an important bonding element for the local community. The lively activity of dissemination and promotion of the Koniaków lace resulted in an entry to UNESCO’s National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2017. The Koniaków lace also became one of the elements representing the Silesian region at the 2022 EXPO in Dubai. These events are the result of cultural policies implemented at the level of the institution and the result of the activity of the local community, influencing and shaping the frequently emotional relationships within it. The purpose of this article is to present practices using Koniaków lace, which are related to such issues as cultural policy, heritage management, or community empowerment.

OLD POLISH LANGUAGE SPECIFICITY AND GRAMMATICAL ANNOTATION: TENSE AND MOOD CATEGORIES This article is dedicated to the grammatical annotation of Old Polish texts. The problem with the annotation of tense and mood in medieval texts has been discussed. It results from the absence of the verb as a grammatical class, the varied ways of constructing the forms of tense and mood, and the mobility of the elements of these forms. Due to the difficulties related to the material studied, as well as technical issues, it was necessary to implement an additional level of annotation. The article discusses the rules of the second annotation, and identifies forms and constructions that are problematic to interpret in grammatical and syntactical basis. Differences in the way of understanding of agglutination category have been shown (in relation to other corpora of historical and contemporary texts). The work on the preparation of the “Tense and Mood” search engine has demonstrated that Old Polish apocryphal texts document the development of Polish verbal inflection.

Introduction: Urinary incontinence can affect up to 50% of women in the world. The most common is stress incontinence, which consists in involuntary, uncontrolled urination when the pressure in the abdominal cavity increases. Among the most commonly used methods of treating stress urinary incontinence there are treatments using a synthetic tape - TOT and TVT. In this work, both methods were compared in terms of e.g. their effectiveness, the presence of complications, the safety of both procedures and the method of performing both procedures. Material and methods: The work was based on the articles published in PubMed, medical books and websites. Results: Both TOT and TVT in the treatment of stress urinary incontinence are highly effective. Both short-term and long-term treatment results of both methods are very good and very similar. In the case of TOT, the subjective cure 5 years) was 43-92% with TOT and 51-88% with TVT. The incidence of complications after TOT is significantly lower, but there is a higher probability of having to perform a repeat procedure to treat stress urinary incontinence. TVT has a lower risk of reoperation in >5 years (1.1%) but has a higher risk of chronic perineal pain. Conclusions: The placement of a tension-free TVT or TOT tape should be the surgery of choice for women with simple stress urinary incontinence. However, there is a higher risk of chronic perineal pain 12 months after having a tape placed behind the symphysis. The technique of passing the tapes through the obturator holes is associated with a lower risk of bladder injury and less discomfort during bladder emptying compared to the TVT technique. After TOT surgery both pain in the inner thighs and inguinal area and vaginal damage are more common than after TVT.

Introduction: The prevalence of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in the world is estimated at about 5%. Among adults, it occurs with a frequency of 2.5%. This syndrome can significantly impair functioning in various areas of life. There is a treatment to reduce the symptoms. Aim of the study: The aim of the study was to collect and analyze publications on attention deficit hyperactivity disorder - symptoms, diagnosis and therapy, taking into account the differences among children and adults. Material and methods: We reviewed the literature available in the PubMed database using the keywords: "ADHD"; "Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder"; '' ADHD diagnosis', ''ADHD therapy'; ‘’ADHD drug therapy’, ‘’Methylphenidate’, ‘’Atomoxetine” Results: The clinical presentation of the disorder changes over the years. The main symptoms among children are related to inattention and impulsiveness, while among adults, hyperactivity can turn into a feeling of inner fear. Among children, frequent accompanying disorders are behavioral and oppositional-defiant disorders, and among adults, sleep disorders, personality, mood and anxiety disorders. ADHD treatment is based on a multimodal approach that uses cognitive behavioral therapy and effective stimulants (methylphenidate) and non-stimulants (atomoxetine) among children and adults. Conclusions: There are differences in symptoms, comorbidities and diagnosis of ADHD among children and adults. Pharmacotherapy is carried out using the same drugs that are safe and effective. Diagnosis of the disorder and both non-pharmacological and pharmacological help are important due to the risk of increased mortality in patients.

Introduction: Toxoplasma gondii is an intracellular protozoan commonly found in humans in the form of three main forms: tachyzoite, tissue cyst and oocyst. The definitive host is the Felidae family, and one of the intermediate hosts is humans. The most common routes of infection are ingestion of raw or undercooked meat, water and food contaminated with oocysts. Among the forms of infection, we distinguish between the acquired form and the much more dangerous congenital form. Aim of the study: The objective of the study was to rewiev the literature describing the dangerous impact of Toxoplasma gondii infection on human. Methods and materials: : We reviewed the literature available in the PubMed database, using the key words: "toxoplasma gondii"; "congenital toxoplasmosis"; "pregnacy". Results: T. gondii infection is particularly dangerous in pregnant women, due to the high risk of vertical transmission of the infection to the developing fetus. The clinical presentation of congenital toxoplasmosis depends on the gestational age at which the infection occurred. Pathognomonic signs of congenital toxoplasmosis include Sabin-Pinkerton Triad, which includes inflammation of the retina and choroid of the eye, dilatation of the brain's ventricular system and intracranial calcifications. Available pharmacotherapy works on tachyzoites present in the initial phase of acquired infection, congenital infection and reactivated infection in immunodeficient patients, available drugs do not work on tissue cysts. Conclusion: The consequences of Toxoplasma gondii infection are particularly dangerous for the fetus, so pregnant women should pay special attention to hand hygiene and thorough washing of the food they eat. For this reason, it is extremely important to educate pregnant women about health issues and draw attention to the possible consequences of T.gondii infection.

Depressive disorders are a widespread problem in modern medicine. According to current data from the World Health Organisation, an estimated 280 million people worldwide suffer from depression. In recent years, there have been reports of a correlation between the composition of the gut microbiota and the development of depressive disorders and attempts to modify it through the use of psychobiotics. The literature from the PubMed database published between 2018-2023 has been explored. 596 articles were selected based on the keywords "probiotics" and "depression". Six randomized clinical trials were finally included in the analysis. As defined elsewhere, psychobiotics are probiotic bacteria which supplemented in adequate amounts, interact with the gut-brain axis and show beneficial effects on patients' mental health. Results from recent RCTs suggest that daily probiotic supplementation significantly reduces the severity of depression compared to placebo (p

Background: Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are widely used drugs that reduce gastric acid secretion. In recent years, there has been a gradual increase in their use. The safety of prolonged PPI therapy and the potential for cumulative side effects of these drugs raise legitimate concerns. An association between PPI administration and the risk of Clostridioides difficile infection has been suggested. The findings regarding this phenomenon require further unequivocal verification. Material and methods: A review of publications obtained from the PubMed database and published between 2016-2023. Based on the keywords "proton pump inhibitor", "PPI" and "Clostridium", 132 articles were selected. Finally, 6 meta-analyses were included in the analysis. Results: Studies conducted in recent years have shown a statistically significant increase in the risk of C. difficile infection in patients taking PPIs compared to those who avoid this therapy. The aforementioned relationship was observed in both adults and pediatric patients. One study proved that the risk remained high even up to 1 year after the end of treatment. The described relationship is still a matter of debate due to the fact that patients using antacids are usually elderly, have several comorbidities and a higher risk of developing C. difficile infection regardless of PPI use. Conclusions: The relationship between the use of PPIs and the risk of developing C. difficile infection is still controversial, which justifies the need for continued clinical trials to objectively resolve this issue. PPIs exert high efficacy in the treatment of acid-dependent diseases, but due to the many ambiguities surrounding possible side effects, caution in their administration seems warranted, especially for long-term therapy in elderly patients with polypharmacy.

The most common diseases in humans are oral infections. Although modern research is mainly concerned with the role of the gut microbiota in systemic diseases, there are also reports indicating that oral infections, and especially periodontal infection, are one of the risk factors for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (CVD).The composition of the oral biofilm is a community of several hundred species of bacteria, fungi, spirochetes, viruses and protozoa. It varies depending on the state of health and disease. Pathogenic bacteria in the oral cavity can cause systemic disease by entering the bloodstream or by triggering immune responses at the cellular level. The discovery of the role of the oral microbiome in CVD is leading to new methods of prevention and their treatment. In this review, we discuss the various mechanisms by which oral dysbiosis may contribute to the pathogenesis of CVD as well as available options for their prevention and treatment. Oral dysbiosis, or the imbalance of bacteria in the oral cavity, has been linked to an increased risk of CVD. Several mechanisms have been proposed to explain how oral dysbiosis may contribute to CVD, including: The production of inflammatory molecules by oral bacteria. The activation of the immune system, which can lead to inflammation throughout the body. The entry of oral bacteria into the bloodstream, where they can travel to other organs and tissues. There are a number of things that can be done to prevent oral dysbiosis and reduce the risk of CVD, including: Good oral hygiene, such as brushing and flossing twice a day. Regular dental checkups and cleanings. Avoiding tobacco use. Eating a healthy diet. Conclusions. The evidence is growing that oral dysbiosis is a risk factor for CVD. Further research is needed to better understand the mechanisms involved and to develop effective interventions for prevention and treatment. Mondor's Disease, also known as iron wire phlebitis, is a rare and self-limiting superficial vein thrombophlebitis that presents with a palpable cord-like induration beneath the skin. Others symptoms include: pain, swelling and redness of the affected area. It typically affects the vessels of the chest wall, less frequently the vessels of the penis or the upper limbs. The etiology of the disease is not fully understood, but it is known that it may be caused by local injuries or surgeries, and it may accompany cancer or infections. The diagnosis is based in most cases on an anamnesis and physical examination, confirmed by ultrasound. There are approximately 500 cases of this disease described in the literature. Iron wire phlebitis is a disease of underappreciated importance, raising awareness of this condition can facilitate the MD’ diagnosis and reduce unnecessary diagnostic procedures. A 36-year-old female patient detects a lump during breast self-examination. The lesion was located in the upper outer quadrant of the right breast. The ultrasound revealed dilated venous vessel with thrombosis, which led to diagnose Mondor's Disease. In this case the cause of increased coagulation may be ablation or COVID-19 infection. It is necessary to find the etiological factors predisposing to the disease, and extending the diagnosis to exclude other rheumatological, hematological and neoplastic diseases. The patient received low-molecular-weight heparin, heparin ointment, painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs. After one week treatment, the change wasn’t palpable. Then, instead of LMWH, oral sulodexide was used for treatment. Thanks to awareness of this disease, it was possible to made an appropriate, quickly diagnosis and implement treatment, as well as reduce unnecessary medical procedures. The early diagnosis of MD can help to identify serious causes (for example breast cancer) at an early stage which will allow to treatment previously undetected changes.

Introduction: Acromioclavicular joint dislocation is one of the most common shoulder injuries treated in a sport‐active population. In this article we reviewed the epidemiology, symptoms, and various surgical techniques for the treatment of acromioclavicular dislocation. Material and methods: The work was based on medical articles collected in PubMed, websites and medical books. The research was conducted by looking at keywords such as: "acromioclaviculal dislocation", "treatment of acromioclaviculal dislocation ". Results: There are many methods of treating acromioclaviculal dislocation, ranging from conservative treatment to surgical treatment. Conclusions: Treating acute and chronic ACJ injuries is still a challenging task.The myriad of existing techniques is indicative for the uncertainty regarding this topic and a gold standard has not yet been determined. However, when diagnosed correctly and treated accordingly, results are overall satisfactory.

Omega-3 is a polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) with a double bond present at the ω-3 carbon atom. Recently, many neurobiologists and psychiatrists have been studying the involvement of inflammatory factors and mechanisms in the pathogenesis of depression, including factors like an improper diet with an excess of omega-6, gut dysbiosis, obesity, and autoimmune diseases. The present study focuses on the impact of unsaturated fatty acids on mood improvement and cognitive processes in elderly patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) resistant to standard treatment. This form of depression is often associated with autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic lupus erythematosus, and inflammatory bowel diseases. The influence of omega-3 supplementation on depression prevention and its effects on childhood depression were also examined. It should be noted that some publications do not confirm the antidepressant effects of omega-3. However, this article provides evidence of the supportive role of omega-3 in depression treatment, based on neuroendocrine, metabolic, and immunological reactions. Objective: Literature review on the impact of omega-3 on depression treatment, considering its forms, inflammatory mechanisms, neuroendocrine factors, diet, lifestyle, and age. Materials and Methods: Literature review based on available sources from PubMed and Google Scholar. Conclusions: Omega-3 is a polyunsaturated fatty acid that positively affects the functioning of the body. Many research studies confirm its antidepressant and anti-inflammatory effects, making it a potential adjunctive treatment for depression, especially in elderly patients with major treatment-resistant depression (MDD) coexisting with other chronic diseases. The results of studies on the relationship between omega-3 and antidepressant action also depend on various environmental factors and lifestyle choices.

Introduction: Uterine leiomyosarcoma accounts for approximately 3%–7% of all uterine cancers and it is the most common subtype of uterine sarcoma. They are associated with high potential to both local recurrence and distant metastases, and they contribute to a significant proportion of uterine cancer deaths. Tumor stage is the single most important prognostic factor for uterine sarcomas. Presenting symptoms may be vague and mimic other benign uterine conditions. The aim of the study: This study aims to describe a case of uterine leiomyosarcoma and summarize current knowledge about classification, diagnostics and treatment. Materials and methods: The research method was a case study. This review was based on available data collected in the PubMed database and Google Scholar web search engine, using the key words: uterine leiomyosarcoma, uterine sarcoma, hysterectomy, gynecologic oncology. Conclusion: Surgery is considered the mainstay of treatment for sarcomas limited to the uterus. In patients with carcinosarcomas postoperative radiotherapy increases the local control. High rate of distant metastases suggests potential role of systemic therapy. However, the benefits of postoperative chemotherapy and endocrine therapy in high-risk patients are of no proven value in the adjuvant setting. Introduction: The aim of the study: The aim of the study was to assess the most common injuries in people regularly involved in amateur long-distance runs by empirical research based on anonymous surveys. Materials and methods: The research material was collected using an anonymous online survey in May 2023. The obtained results were analyzed and verified on the basis of scientific literature and statistically processed using Microsoft Office Excel. Results: Of the 124 long-distance runners, 78,2% reported having a running-related injury in the past. The predominant site of these injuries was the lower limb especially foot, ankle and shin. 65,3% researched runners chose hard surfaces such as asphalt or pavestone. Conclusion: Definitely the highest number of injuries in our research is caused by an excessive training load. Most runners chose hard surfaces such as asphalt or pavestone which were not in line with the rules of injury prevention. Riga-Fede disease (RFD) is a rare, benign condition found in infants, characterized by ulcers in the oral mucosa, around the tongue and gums. It is caused by repeated injuries, caused by movements of the tongue over the lower incisors. It usually coexists with neonatal teeth. Although it starts as a small ulcer, it can progress to a large fibrous lesion. Symptoms include pain, swelling and difficulty swallowing and sucking. Early diagnosis and treatment are important to prevent late complications, including insufficient food intake, growth retardation and deformity of the tongue, gums, lips and floor of the mouth. The diagnosis is usually made on the basis of medical history and clinical features. The following paper presents the case of a 9-month-old boy with a lump occurring in the fundus of the mouth, at the base of the tongue.

Gastric lymphoma is a rare malignant disease, which in recent years has been showing an increasing incidence in the population. The development of MALT is most often the result of chronic Helicobacter pylori infection. Further chronic inflammation may result in malignant transformation of MALT to high-grade diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). However, DLBCL lymphomas most often arise de novo. The risk of primary gastric lymphoma increases with age. The symptoms of gastric lymphoma are very diverse and non-specific, which is why the knowledge about this disease and the differential diagnosis of diseases with similar symptoms play a very important role. The gold standard for diagnosing gastric lymphomas is upper GI endoscopy with biopsy, and sometimes additional imaging tests are necessary to make a proper diagnosis. It is very important to start treatment quickly - the first-line treatment is the eradication of Helicobacter pylori bacteria. Currently, we also have other therapeutic pathways that can change the course of the disease. The therapeutic plan should be individually selected for the needs of the individual patient. Changes detected in the early stages and treated quickly give patients a good chance of being cured. This publication is an attempt to summarize the current state of knowledge about the epidemiology, etiopathogenesis, clinical picture and therapeutic strategies in the case of gastric lymphoma.

Introduction: Bathing at high temperatures has been a practice used for thousands of years in many cultures. High or low temperatures are considered a stress factor for the human body and are often a challenge to maintain homeostasis. Heat stress can be beneficial to human health, independent of other lifestyle factors. The aim of the study: The aim of the study was to assess the level of knowledge among people about sauna bathing, the benefits of its use and diseases that are contraindications to such bathing, as well as empirical research on sauna bathing habits based on anonymous surveys. Materials and methods: The research material was collected using an anonymous survey in May 2023. The obtained results were analyzed and verified on the basis of scientific literature and statistically processed using Microsoft Office Excel. Results: 87.5% of the respondents use the sauna, the majority - several times a year, and 15% - several times a week. For 77.1% of respondents using the sauna, it is a form of entertainment, but 15.2% treat it as a form of health prevention. Many respondents wrongly indicate contraindications to bathing in the sauna, and 73.3% of people do not know any effects of the sauna. Discussion and conclusions: Many respondents use the sauna, but most of them use it as a form of entertainment. Few people know the full effect of the sauna on the body and its multidirectionality. More than half of the respondents cannot name the contraindications to bathing in the sauna. As far as possible, the doctor should indicate people with, among others, increased cardiovascular risk, this form of prophylaxis.
