Acute tests in mature cats, demonstrated, evoked potentials in the cortex and medial center of the thalamus resulting from test irritation of sciatic nerves and conditioning irritations of intra-osseous receptors. The test proved that electro-irritation of intra-osseous receptors as well as higher intra-osseous pressure caused by the impregnation of physiological solution into the bone facilitated afferent reactions during threshold electrostimulation of sciatic nerves. The results of these experiments were compared to those of clinical monitoring of patients with radicular syndromes of osteochondrosis after intra-osseous blockades which led the authors to suggest a hypothesis about trigger mechanisms of neuralgias, based on segmental alleviation of nociceptive afferentation resulting from overstimulation of intra-osseous receptors.

Histologically and morphometrically structural transformations in the popliteal and iliac medial lymph nodes have been studied in dogs at plasty of their ischiatic nerve by means of a cryopreserved allotransplant. In one week after the operation in the popliteal and in one month in the iliac nodes appear and then develop further certain reactions in B-dependent areas. In 4-12 weeks after the nerve transplantation certain statistically significant changes are noted in the thymus-dependent zone of the iliac medial lymph nodes. During first two weeks from the beginning of the experiment increase in the relative area of the popliteal lymph nodes sinuses is observed. The transformations described are interpreted as a response of the immune system to the nerve cut, and as a result of it--denervation of the crural tissues, disturbance of their nervous trophic, as well as--to transplantation of the allogeneic nervous trunk. The data obtained are in accordance with results of immunological investigations.

A morphometrical and cytological investigation of the lymph nodes has been performed including somatic (axillary), cavitary (mesenteric) and intermediate nodes that get their lymph both from the somatic and from the visceral organs--nodes of the neck and pelvis. Regional and individual peculiarities of the lymph nodes construction (degree of development compartmentalization of the cortical lymphatic substance, follicular density unit, architectonics and the trabecular apparatus maturation, sinus capacity) can be characterized within the limits of three morphofunctional types: compact, fragmented and focal. The human axillary lymph nodes (taking into account certain individual peculiarities) have their structural organization within the interval the compact--fragmented types. The structural organization of the mesenteric nodes corresponds to the interval the fragmented--focal types. The construction of the common iliac nodes individually varies within the interval the fragmented--focal types. The inferior deep cervical lymph nodes are mainly of the fragmented type. An essential part of the lymph nodes in a mature person has immuno-reactive or involutive changes. In the iliac and cervical nodes, hyperplasia of the lymphoid tissue, especially in the medullary cords, is observed more often than in the somatic and the cavitary nodes. Cellular composition of the human mesenteric and cervical lymph nodes is more variable than in the axillary and iliac nodes. Evidently, this reflects the fact that the former group gets a more antigen-saturated lymph than the axillary and iliac nodes.

The popliteal and iliac lymph nodes have different regional specialization. The former belong to somatic lymph nodes, while the latter get lymph also from internal organs; this explains certain differences in their structural-functional organization. Some objective quantitative data have been obtained that characterize ultrastructure of blood capillaries in the rat popliteal and iliac lymph nodes under normal conditions of the organism's functioning. They demonstrate essential differences in the level of transendothelial transport and, hence, functional activity of these organs.

The technic of osteoplastic arthrodesis of the coxa, using a hollow drill, is described. The operation was performed in 54 patients. 48 patients were examined within the terms from 1 year to 5 years postoperatively. Ankylosis occurred in 46 cases. The cause of a failure in 2 cases was an early cessation of immobilization.

The authors have analysed the caused of frequent diagnostic errors in the primary diagnosis which reach 51.2% in 41 patients with hematogenic osteomyelitis of the pelvis. A high percentage of diagnostic errors is caused by more frequent occurrence of hematogenic osteomyelitis of the pelvis in the adults aged 20 to 60 and older who are "not expected" to have hematogenic osteomyelitis which is considered to be a disease characteristic of children and adolescents, by an inadequacy between the provoking etiologic factor and the subsequent development of the disease and by disguise of hematogenic osteomyelitis of the pelvis with symptoms of other frequently occurring diseases. The character of the diagnostic errors is clearly linked with the localization of the process in the bones of the pelvis.

The changes of skin electrical resistance in the dynamics of the disease were studied through the comparison of the right and left iliac regions. A reliable decrease of the right skin electrical resistance in various clinical forms of appendicitis, except for the gangrenous-perforating form, was found.

The ultrastructure of blood capillary endotheliocytes of iliac lymph nodes during pregnancy was investigated in rats. It was found that changes in microcirculation during pregnancy are accompanied by the appearance of the adaptive changes at all levels of lymph node structural organization. They are: increased lumen of arterial and venous part of the capillaries, increased intermediate sinus volume, increased fenestration of both parts of capillaries, a sharp increase in the number of micropinocytous vesicles and activation of transendothelial channel formation.
