The paper considers topical issues of geophysics related to the possible influence of disturbances in the magnetosphere on seismicity. The study was conducted based on a detailed catalog of seismic events in southern Sakhalin for the period from 2003 to 2023. The paper aims to test the assumption that such an influence can manifest itself in individual seismogenic zones during their proximity to discharge. The testing was carried out in randomly selected segments of the West Sakhalin (WSF) and Central Sakhalin (CSF) faults. The coincidence of the moments of some seismic events (with M > 2.7) and magnetic storms with a high index (G1 and higher) was revealed in these segments. The LURR (load-unload response ratio) method was used to identify periods when fault segments were in a subcritical stress-strain state. It was shown that the main part of the coincidences occurred during the periods of increased abnormal activity of the LURR parameter.

Based on the seismic moment tensor (SMT) data of 270 earthquakes in the Central Tien Shan, which occurred from 1978 to 2021 and include 63 events from the Global Centroid Moment Tensor catalog and 207 events from the works of Aleksander D. Kostyuk and Naylya A. Sycheva, the focal parameters (seismotectonic deformations (STD), kinematic and dynamic parameters, source radius, and stress drop) were calculated. The STD calculation was based on the approaches proposed in the studies of Yuriy V. Riznichenko and Sergei L. Yunga. The area under consideration is characterized by such deformation modes as thrust, transpression, underpression, and oblique. The distribution of the Lode–Nadai coefficient was calculated and plotted. A significant part of the study area is characterized by simple compression deformation, dominated by simple compression and simple shear. To calculate the stress drop deltasigma, the values of the scalar seismic moment M0, which are determined in the SMT calculation, and the source radii r, which are calculated on the basis of theoretical and experimental models of the dependence of the source radius on the moment magnitude, were used. The radii r and stress drops deltasigma were calculated for two models of earthquake sources: the Brune model and the Madariaga– Kaneko–Shearer model. A catalog of dynamic parameters was compiled. The comparison of the kinematic and dynamic parameters of earthquakes was carried out, and the relationship of the dropped stresses with the type of movement in the source, as well as with the Lode–Nadai coefficient, was established. The results obtained in the study can be useful for specialists in other fields of knowledge – geodesy, geology, and geophysics.

A study of wave processes near Cape Svobodny on the south-eastern coast of the island Sakhalin using autonomous wave recorders and a weather station has been performed. Analysis of five-month data of sea level and temperature, atmospheric pressure and wind speed revealed that there are no significant peaks for wind and infragravity (IG) waves in the wave period range 2–600 s, and the wave energy is lower at the point protected by Cape Svobodny. During storms, there is an increase in the energy of IG waves. Waves detected at periods of 14.2 seconds, 3.62 minutes, and 8.85 minutes are related to swell and edge waves propagating seaward. For explanation of short waves, the Longuet-Higgins and Stewart theory was used which describes the dispersion of swell in the surf zone and the formation of free waves. Edge waves were analyzed using the Lamb model and the Bessel function of the first kind of zero order. Modelling of wave processes propagating shoreward revealed the presence of IG waves with periods of 20–110 seconds and edge waves with periods of 4.27–7.63 minutes, confirmed by the dispersion relation for Stokes waves on a sloping bottom. Sea water temperature fluctuations of more than 7 °C with periods of 3–100 minutes affect the propagation of waves with periods longer than 3 minutes, destroying the edge and leaky waves. Analysis of wind wave characteristics showed no significant wave processes, including wind waves, in the 2–20 second period range. The maximum wave height was observed during prolonged southern winds associated with a cyclone. This study is important for understanding wave processes in this area, aiding in predicting their behaviour and impact on the coastline.

The organization of the lichen herbarium in the Institute of Marine Geology and Geophysics of the FEB RAS was initiated in 2014 after a number of integrated expeditions in the Sakhalin Region. The herbarium is based on the collections of Aleksander K. Ezhkin and Vladimir V. Kaganov. A significant amount of lichen samples was collected in protected areas of the Sakhalin Region, in wild remote sites, and in areas of volcanic activity. Currently, a part of the collection (1178 samples, 307 species) is mounted and stored in the Laboratory of plant ecology and geoecology, which is about 1/8 of all herbarium material of lichens stored in the Institute of Marine Geology and Geophysics of the FEB RAS.

The paper presents an annotated list of lichens of the eastern slope of Berutarube volcano, one of the most inaccessible and poorly studied active volcanoes on Iturup Island. Samples of lichens were collected in August 2023 from eroded areas in the summit part of the volcano, as well as on the eastern slope along the Andrey Creek, in the upper reaches of which unnamed cold acidic springs discharge. In total, 53 species of lichens were identified from the sampling sites, of which 20 species were new to Iturup Island, 2 species were new to the Kuril Islands, and 1 species was new to the Sakhalin region. In the summit part of the volcano, lichens typical for areas of volcanic activity were identified: Cladonia crispata, Cladonia straminea, Huea confluens, Lecidea plana, Melanelia stygia, Pseudephebe pubescens, Rhizocarpon badioatrum, and Umbilicaria torrefacta. The influence of the solfataric gases of the volcano on the lichen biota of the Andrey Creek valley has not been revealed, which allows us to make the assumption that there is no direct influence of the products of the solfataric activity of Berutarube volcano on the natural environment of its eastern slopes.

The report presents the results of the fieldwork (July 2024) aimed at studying the traces of prehistoric ashfalls in the city of Kurilsk and nearby settlements: the villages of Kitovy, Rybaki, and Reydovo (Iturup, South Kuril Islands). The work was traditionally based on tephrostratigraphic studies, during which the sections of the soil-pyroclastic cover were studied. In total, more than 10 sections were studied. The materials obtained during the fieldwork, after carrying out radiocarbon dating and material composition studies, will be used in further regional studies on young volcanism of the South Kuril Islands, as well as in studies on assessing volcanic hazard and volcanic zoning.

Relevance. Foothill (foredeep, pericratonic) deflections play a significant role generation and localization of hydrocarbon accumulations and are promising objects of oil and gas exploration. Numerous studies of such structures are focused mainly on the geological structure, formation and prospects of oil and gas potential of these territories. Issues related to the geochemistry of natural waters are either not covered at all, or are presented in an extremely limited form. Studying the chemical composition of the natural waters of the Predverkhoyansk foredeep at the modern analytical level will make it possible to assess the hydrogeochemical background and emphasize the peculiarities of the behavior of the main components of the aquatic environment in conditions of a sharp change in the tectonic situation. Aim. To study and identify the hydrogeochemical features of the composition of natural waters in the area of the eastern framing of the Siberian platform in the region of its junction with the scaly-thrust dislocations of the Verkhoyano-Kolyma folded zone. Methods. Measurements of rapidly changing parameters of natural waters (pH, Eh, temperature) were carried out directly at the sampling site with a portable HQ-40D analyzer from Hach Lange (USA). The analysis of the chemical composition of waters was carried out in the Problematic Research Laboratory of Hydrogeochemistry of Tomsk Polytechnic University using ion chromatography methods on a two-channel reagentless ionochromatographic complex ICS-5000 with conductometric detection manufactured by Dionex-Thegmo Scientific (USA). The content of CO32– and HCO3–anions in the studied waters was determined by the traditional titrimetry method for these indicators. The Si concentration was determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry on a NeXION 300D device, Perkin Elmer (USA). Results. The paper presents the data on the chemical composition of the natural waters of the Tompo, Lyapiske, Sobolokh-Mayan (Sobopol) river basins in the inner part of the Predverkhoyansk foredeep in front of the cutting edge of the advanced thrust of the western slope of the Verkhoyansk anticlinorium. The patterns of the distribution of basic ions are shown, common features and differences between the studied sites are revealed.

Relevance. Aluminum production is one of the most important industries all over the world. It has a high environmental load, resource and energy intensity. To reduce the negative impact of aluminum production, efforts are underway to improve its technological processes, aimed at increasing aluminum recovery rates, reducing waste volumes, and lowering energy consumption. The reduction of energy consumption can be achieved, among others, through implementing control systems that provide energy management. Due to the complexity and multiplicity of technological processes in aluminum production, the use of traditional linear approaches for such control systems is ineffective, and adequate mathematical models are required. At the same time, for the production level, the use of mathematical models based on a phenomenological description of the ongoing physical processes overly complicates the control task. As a result, the use of intelligent and adaptive approaches to both the mathematical description of technological processes and the optimal energy consumption management is relevant. Objects. Technological complexes of aluminum production, which have the properties of inertia, nonlinearity, and closedness; and the control system based on artificial intelligence methods. Alumina production is chosen as an illustration. Aim. To develop mathematical models capable of adequately describing the interrelated processes in the technological complexes under consideration, as well as the control system that allows optimal energy consumption management. Methods. For the mathematical model based on balance equations under uncertainty, the fuzzy-set theory was used along with the gradient descent method to identify the model parameters; for the optimization task, the genetic algorithm method was used. Results. The mass balance model and the process conditions changing model have been developed to determine the energy consumption for the technological complexes of aluminum production with continuous inertial nonlinear closed production. Based on these models, the dynamic characteristics of energy consumption and the parameters of technological processes were determined depending on the main controlled parameters, allowing us to predict emergencies. Considering technological parameters and cost factors, the optimization task for energy consumption management was solved.

Relevance. Within the limits of the isolated concentrations of xanthan and salts, optimization of rheological parameters of a pseudoplastic liquid intended for thickening drilling mud is shown. For this purpose, it is proposed to isolate from the complete rheological curve the separation of the liquid liquefaction section, according to which the nonlinearity parameters are determined. The complete factorial experiment allows us to specify the dependence of rheological nonlinearity on the concentration of ingredients. The formulation of the complete factorial experiment makes it possible to qualitatively evaluate other brands of biopolymers. Based on the non-linearity indicators, an indicator for optimizing the carrying capacity of drilling fluids is proposed. The use of the above and characteristic viscosity of the solutions can serve as qualitative and quantitative estimates of the projected compositions of drilling fluids. The multiplicity of brands of xanthan gums determines their qualitative diversity. The choice of gum for thickening drilling fluids is not formalized. The article offers one of the options. Aim. Using the Ostwald de Weil model to evaluate the rheological characteristics of aqueous solutions of DUO-VIS xanthan gum in the presence of Na and K chlorides at elevated concentrations of xanthan and salts, as well as to analyze the effect of the dispersed phase of the thickener solution on its rheological characteristics. Methods. Instrumental methods for determining the parameters of drilling fluids according to SS 33213-2014, mathematical modeling using a complete factorial experiment. Results and conclusions. Using the example of a DOU-VIS xanthan solution applied as a thickener for drilling fluids, the S-shape of the viscosity profiles of solutions of xanthan thickeners is shown. The paper considers the example of highlighting a section of the viscosity curve with decreasing viscosity and approximating it by a power dependence. The effect of biopolymer and potassium chloride (within the limits of their isolated concentrations) on the parameters of the power dependence used as an approximated viscosity curve is shown using a complete factorial experiment. The paper introduces the distribution of the optimization parameter, which is the ratio of the consistency coefficient to the nonlinearity indicator, within the range of changes in the concentrations of biopolymer and KCl. An example of calculating the volume fraction of biopolymer macromolecules in solution is shown and the application of the reduced and characteristic viscosities for estimating solutions at the scale of suspension particles is given.

Relevance. The research is aimed at reducing the impact of deficiencies (dusting) when involving in circulation fly ash, which prevents the wider use of valuable secondary raw materials in the production of demanded products. The direction of work corresponds to the Comprehensive Waste Disposal Plan for coal-fired power plants and boiler houses, approved by the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated 06/15/2022 No. 1557-R. Aim. Development of an optimal technology for the production of granules from fly ash of Kemerovo GRES using two types of substances of a similar nature as a binder, depending on the concentration of the binder in an aqueous solution and the delay time of strength gain and abrasion index. Object. A granulate or pellet made of fly ash based on a binder of experimental aluminosilicate glue and liquid sodium glass "Diola-53". Methods. Strength tests were carried out on a hydraulic press according to SS 8929-2020 and the abrasion index of a large filler in a shelf drum was determined out according to SS 9758-2012. Two methods of granulation of fly ash were used: 1) two-stage – preparation (cooking) of aluminosilicate glue from fly ash and granulation; 2) one-stage – granulation using market liquid glass. Liquid aluminosilicate glue was produced experimentally in a container using a flask heater and a mixing device. Results and conclusions. The authors have established the differences in the delay time of strength gain and the abrasion index of granules obtained by two methods based on fly ash from Kemerovo Urban District Power Plant using aluminosilicate glue and liquid sodium glass "Diola-53" as a binder. They found the dependences of the delay time of strength gain and the abrasion index of granules on the concentration (fraction) of an aqueous solution of the binder. The specific costs for the production of granules for each binder and its proportion in an aqueous solution are determined. Granulate from fly ash based on a binder: experimental aluminosilicate glue and liquid sodium glass "Diola-53", can be transported without dusting by any type of transport and serve as a potential raw material for cement production and a component in concrete production.

Relevance. The trend of oil production technology development is related to many relevant topics. One of such actual directions is the technology of simultaneous separate well operation, in particular, including two electric centrifugal pumps and double-sided submersible electric motor. The presence of two formations at the bottomhole implies the selection of the optimal layout, technological parameters of pumps pumping oil. Considering production from two independent formations in the well according to the mentioned technology, there is a high need in selection of correct parameters of installations at the design stage. In the absence of correct selection of technological parameters of units at the design stage, further operation of a well with two independent formations can be economically inexpedient, and in some cases unrealizable, which is due to a number of reasons. First, if the necessary underbalance is not provided for each particular formation, counterflow of fluid may occur and one of the pumps will not participate in the production process. Secondly, when operating an arrangement, which capacity significantly exceeds the capacity (fluid flow from the reservoir) of the well, there is a possibility of pumping failure and, as a consequence, there is a risk of potential failure. In this regard, an extremely urgent task at the moment is to ensure correct selection of technological parameters of electric centrifugal pump units used in simultaneous separate operation of wells with two independent formations. Aim. Development of a mathematical model that allows selecting the optimal technological parameters of the arrangement consisting of two electric centrifugal pumps and a double-sided submersible motor, used for simultaneous separate operation of wells with two independent formations. Methods. Numerical simulation methods for analyzing the operation mode of electric centrifugal pumps in conditions of oil production from two independent reservoirs. Results and conclusions. It was obtained that the developed mathematical model of the system operation mode for simultaneous separate operation of wells allows to estimate the potential of each individual selected pump during oil production (in time dynamics) by analyzing the depression on each individual reservoir, as well as modeling the process taking into account the potential backflow of liquid and supply failure.

Relevance. The construction of buildings and structures in permafrost conditions is associated with the problem of soil thawing. To prevent this phenomenon, heat stabilizer have proven themselves good in practice. Their successful use is difficult without preliminary modeling of heat flows in the soil–heat stabilizer system. The most effective design of a passive heat stabilizer is an installation with two-phase of refrigerant. An additional increase in the efficiency of using a two-phase heat stabilizer is possible due to the finning of the outer surface of the outer pipe of it. Aim. To calculate the efficiency of using a heat stabilizer with and without finning of the outer surface. Objects. Heat stabilizer, refrigerant, heat transfer, frozen soil. Methods. The mathematical model for describing the processes of heat and mass transfer in the heat stabilizer–frozen soil system is considered in an axisymmetric formulation. There are three subtasks: the movement of liquid refrigerant in the inner tube of the heat stabilizer, the two-phase convective flow of refrigerant in the gap between the inner and outer tubes and conductive heat exchange in the system of the heat stabilizer–frozen soil. The influence of the finning of the outer surface of the heat stabilizer is considered within the framework of the modified concept of the skin factor. Results and conclusions. The authors have obtained the pressure and temperature distributions along the length of the heat stabilizer. It was found that the presence of fins on the outer surface of the external pipe of the heat stabilizer increases the heat flow from the soil by 10%. It is determined that the soil is effectively cooled within 1 m from the heat stabilizer; this distance is recommended as optimal for the placement of an adjacent heat stabilizer.

Relevance. Annually, the coastal areas of the Mekong Delta receive approximately 50% of the total sediment load from the Mekong River, primarily during the southwest monsoon. During the northeast monsoon, this coastal sediment undergoes reworking and is transported southwestward along the coastal areas of the Mekong delta. Aim. Analyzing the grain-size distribution of sea-bed surface sediment helps improve our understanding of sediment redistribution along the coastal areas of the Mekong Delta. Methods. In order to illustrate changes in sea-bed surface sediment grain size between the two monsoons, we focused on the median grain size, a widely used parameter for sediment transport calculation, and created spatial maps of median grain size along the coastal areas of the Mekong Delta. The analysis was based on sediment samples collected along the coastal areas of the Mekong Delta during field excursions in the southwest and northeast seasons. Results. The results reveal that median grain size during northeast (mainly ranging from 0.005 to 0.01 mm) are larger than those during southwest (primarily ranging from 0.01 to 0.05 mm). These changes in median grain size and spatial distributions are most prominent along the east coast, specifically from Soc Trang to Bac Lieu. In contrast, median grain size along the west side does not exhibit significant differences between the southwest and northeast monsoons. These observations imply a more significant sediment transport along the east coastal areas of the Mekong Delta during the northeast monsoon and provide evidence for the transportation of sediment from the east coast to the west coast during the monsoons.

Relevance. The need for timely control of the state of water basins and prevention of their catastrophic pollution due to the processes of handling bottom sediments. Aim. To generalize normative and published data devoted to the problem of assessment of bottom sediments pollution and application of modern technologies of remediation of sediments contaminated with heavy metals. Results and conclusions. The article shows that the most significant transformations in the composition and properties of bottom sediments naturally occur in the conditions of the highest load, typical for historically industrialized and urbanized regions. The authors have carried out a review of regulatory support for the assessment and remediation of contaminated bottom sediments. The paper highlights the gaps in the existing regulatory framework applied in Russia related to the lack of requirements for safe concentrations of toxic metals in bottom sediments. Systematization and analysis of applied technologies for bottom sediments remediation are carried out. The main directions of such works include application of physical, physico-chemical, chemical and biological methods of bottom sediments remediation and purification. These methods can be implemented either in situ or ex situ. The advantage of the first option is the lower cost of the works, while the remediation of sediments outside the water body allows achieving a higher degree of purification from heavy metals. The review shown the prospect of using hybrid remediation technologies with the selection of a set of methods that meet the requirements for treatment efficiency and economic feasibility, as well as the possibility of using contaminated sludge for the production of marketable products.

Relevance. The development of new methods for regulating the rheological properties of water-oil emulsion using thermal and chemical methods will allow reducing the viscosity of oil well products and energy consumption for pumping hydrocarbon mixtures. Aim. To determine the activation energy of viscous flow and particle sizes of the internal phase of the initial emulsion of the Archinskoe deposit and the emulsion with an introduced demulsifier. Methods. All experiments required to investigate the rheological properties of colloidal disperse systems were performed using HAAKE Viscotester iQ rotational viscometer. Results. Comparative experimental studies were carried out on the effect of the introduced demulsifier on the effective viscosity of the water-oil emulsion of the Archinskoe deposit. Laboratory-scale experiments were performed using the rotational viscometry, which allows one to evaluate the dependence of viscosity on shear rate and temperature. It was established that the studied samples are liquids with pronounced non-Newtonian properties, which are a consequence of the paraffinic nature of oil and its water-oil emulsion. The structure of nanoparticles of the dispersed phase of dehydrated oil and its emulsion is discussed and justified. Using the analytical Arrhenius–Frenkel–Eyring expression, which describes the dependence of viscosity on temperature and the physical and chemical nature of the liquid system, the results of viscometrical experiments were processed and the activation energies of viscous flow and the particle size of the inverse emulsion were calculated in the absence of a demulsifier and in its presence. Laboratory experiments have confirmed that for complete dehydration of oil well products, it is not enough to introduce only a demulsifier, but it also requires heating the emulsion to a temperature sufficient to melt and dissolve paraffin particles, which form a structural and mechanical barrier situated on the surface of the emulsion droplets.

Relevance. In the last decade, the intensity of development of the Gorlovka coal deposit in Novosibirsk region has significantly increased, which leads to the formation of seismic activation of the subsoil of the Gorlovka depression in response to technogenic impact. Since 2019, earthquakes with a magnitude of more than 4 have been recorded in the field area, felt in Novosibirsk and its suburbs. Currently, damage from natural disasters has been rapidly growing. This happens due to many reasons, such as urbanization, population growth, man-made changes in the geological environment, construction of high-risk facilities that contribute to the activation of negative processes. Therefore, the development of trustworthy criteria for the assessment, forecast and consequences of natural and man-made hazardous phenomena is an urgent task. Timely identification of dangerous geological processes will make it possible to develop and implement measures to prevent and eliminate emergencies of a natural and man-made nature. Aim. Analysis of the results of regular observations by electrical tomography along a profile crossing the fault zone at the study site in the Gorlovka trough for further development of measurement techniques and software for automated processing and interpretation of monitoring data. Methods. Field works, quantitative interpretation Results and conclusions. The authors have obtained the first results of regular observations using electrical tomography along a profile crossing the fault zone at the study site in the Gorlovka trough, interpreting field data using the modernized DiInSo software package. It was found that the identified variations in geoelectric parameters reflect the response of the geological environment both to earthquakes occurring during the observation period and to man-made impacts (explosions). Furthermore, it is demonstrated that the fluctuations magnitude is influenced by the earthquake magnitude.

Relevance. Negative impact of waste from mining enterprises on the ecological state of the surrounding areas. Aim. To determine the migration ability of toxic chemical elements from waste storage sites of the Ermakovskoe beryllium deposit in the air. Object. Ermakovskoe fluorite-bertrandite-phenacite deposit and the surrounding area. Methods. Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, laser diffraction, inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry. Results and conclusions. The paper introduces the experimental studies of surface atmospheric pollution by mining waste from the Ermakovskoe fluorite-bertrandite-phenakite deposit are presented using an installation for collecting aerosols above the sand surface. It was established that toxic components formed during the decomposition of residual sulfide mineralization and products of the interaction of acidic waters with rocks move from the sand thickness to the surface along with water vapor. The moisture condensed over the sand contains high contents of aluminum, iron, manganese, zinc, and phosphorus. These elements form a halo of air pollution over mining waste and are then dispersed by air currents into the surrounding area. In winter, due to wind dispersion of aerosols, the snow cover becomes contaminated over a vast area. Among the toxic elements found were beryllium, lead, cadmium, and molybdenum, which belong to the second hazard class. The solid residue of the snow cover contains a fine fraction of dust, the size of which is less than 10 microns. The halo of snow contamination with toxic chemical elements and dust extends several kilometers away from the disturbed lands.

Relevance. The need for the development and widespread use of the ultrasonic spraying method, which has unique advantages, to solve the most pressing problems of modern industry. In particular: minimal, of all known methods, energy consumption for the implementation of the process, the possibility of forming fine droplets without the use of gas under pressure, regulating the dispersion of the formed aerosol by the parameters of the emitter, etc. However, for widespread practical use of the ultrasonic spraying method, it is necessary to ensure spraying conditions with a specified dispersion and productivity. In this regard, there is a need to develop a method for controlling and maintaining the necessary and sufficient thickness of the liquid layer on the surface of the piezoelectric transducer of the atomizer, the spraying of which will ensure, at a given spraying performance, the formation of an aerosol with the smallest deviation in the size of the formed droplets relative to the average value. It is proposed to control the thickness of the liquid layer by identifying the dependence of the resonant frequency of the piezoelectric transducer of the atomizer on the thickness of the liquid film on the oscillating surface of the atomizer. Aim. To develop a method and means for controlling the thickness of the layer of sprayed liquid by changing the resonant frequency of the ultrasonic oscillatory system and maintaining the optimal value of the layer thickness by changing the amplitude of vibrations of the surface of the ultrasonic sprayer. Objects. Liquid atomizing with ultrasonic high-amplitude vibrations. Methods. Obtaining the frequency characteristics of ultrasonic oscillatory systems, analyzing changes in the amplitude-frequency characteristics of oscillating systems and identifying criteria that allow monitoring and managing the ultrasonic spraying. Results. The authors have proposed and developed the method for indirectly monitoring the thickness of a sprayed liquid layer on the oscillating surface of an ultrasonic atomizer, based on measuring the resonant frequency of an ultrasonic oscillating system. The possibility of implementing the method and its practical application is caused by the fact that in the working range of layer thicknesses of the sprayed liquid, the change in the resonant frequency can reach 100 Hz, and with a frequency measurement accuracy of 1 Hz, the accuracy of determining the layer thickness will be no more than 2% of the working layer thickness. The identified dependencies and certain values of possible ranges of changes in the controlled parameter made it possible for the first time to develop a method for automatically controlling ultrasonic spraying, ensuring the maintenance of optimal modes of ultrasonic influence (amplitude of vibrations of the spray surface) and the thickness of the layer of sprayed liquid.

Relevance. One of the ways to solve the issues of resource and energy conservation is the production and use of porous aggregates. Porous aggregates allow obtaining effective lightweight concrete for thermal insulation, wall panels, monolithic walls and other load-bearing structures, contribute to the increase of energy efficiency, improvement of thermal insulation, reliability, increase of fire resistance, frost resistance and seismic resistance of buildings, reduction of their weight. Therefore, in the production of porous aggregates, the primary task is the use of industrial waste and products of their processing. Solving these problems leads not only to saving valuable natural resources, but also to solution of environmental problems. Aim. Development of compositions and study of properties of porous aggregate based on bentonite clay of Navbakhar deposit and coal-containing clay of Angren brown coal deposit. Object. Coal-containing clay of Angren brown coal deposit, bentonite clay of Navbakhar deposit and artificial porous aggregate based on them. Methods. Chemical, energy-dispersive X-ray, X-ray phase and infrared spectroscopic analysis, scanning electron microscopy, mathematical modeling, etc. Results. The authors have determined chemical and mineralogical compositions of the clays used. Using the mathematical modeling method they developed the regression equations describing the effects of the amount of bentonite clay in the batch, firing temperature and isothermal holding time on the bulk density and water absorption of the porous aggregates. The resulting porous aggregates with a bulk density of 395 to 690 kg/m3 have a compressive strength in a cylinder of 2.74 to 6.46 MPa, respectively. It was found that the aggregates obtained meet the requirements of regulatory documents.

Relevance. Hydrazine and its derivatives are used in the production of corrosion inhibitors, medicines, pesticides, dyes, polymers, components of energy production and storage systems, rocket fuels. The prospect of replacing carbon fuels with hydrazine is associated with its high calorific value and the formation of environmentally friendly oxidation end products (nitrogen, water). A serious disadvantage limiting the widespread use of hydrazine is its high toxicity. When exposed to the human and animal body, hydrazine and its compounds have carcinogenic and mutagenic effects, affect the central nervous system, and cause anemia. In this regard, the development of new and improvement of existing methods for the determination of hydrazine and its compounds in environmental objects, technological and biological environments is an urgent task. Aim. To establish the possibility of voltammetric determining hydrazine in solutions using a composite polymer-carbon electrode modified with gold particles. Objects. Solutions of hydrazine salts; aqueous solutions of acids, alkalis and salts. Methods. DC voltammetry, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray spectral microanalysis, computational modeling of ion-molecular equilibria. Results. The oxidation of hydrazine in solutions of N2H4×H2SO4+0.1 М KNO3 on a polymer-carbon electrode modified with gold particles under conditions of voltammetry with linear potential sweep proceeds at potentials E>0.3 V (vs. Ag/AgCl/KCl electrode) with a pronounced maximum current of anodic oxidation in the range of 0.5...0.9 V. Hydrazine oxidation on a modified electrode proceeds at low potentials due to the manifestation of the effect of electrocatalysis. It is established that the delayed stage of the electrode process is single-electron transfer. The reaction is of the first order in terms of hydrazine, is irreversible and is controlled by the diffusion of the substrate to the electrode surface. Based on the results of the analysis of the dependence of the maximum value of the hydrazine oxidation current on the modified electrode on the conditions of voltammetry (solution concentration, potential sweep rate, pH), a method for determining hydrazine in solutions is proposed. The following conditions for recording voltammograms are optimal: nitrogen deaerated background electrolyte 0.1 M KNO3, pH=5...7, the potential range for recording an analytical signal is 0.2...1.0 V, the potential sweep rate is 50 mV/s. Under these conditions, the dependence of the maximum value of the anodic oxidation current on the hydrazine concentration is described by linear regression equations in the ranges of 1×10–5…1×10–4 and 1×10–4…1.5×10–3 M N2H4 (the detection limit is 2.1×10–6 M). In comparison with the electrodes known from the literature, the modified electrode used in the work does not require a costly preparation and storage procedure, according to its analytical characteristics, the proposed method is not inferior to the most highly sensitive electrochemical methods for determining hydrazine.

Relevance. Currently, when using submersible electric motors in centrifugal electric pump installations in cyclic operation mode, there is a reduction in the inter-repair period of submersible equipment, which is associated with a reduction in oil pumping periods to several minutes. As a result, there is a multiple increase in starting currents and torque, which leads to an increase in mechanical loads on the pump shaft and appearance of resonance phenomena during the electric motor acceleration, reducing the reliability of a seal protection. To solve these problems, it is necessary to synthesize closed-loop vector control systems with current and electromagnetic torque control in transient responses. Open-loop scalar control systems for electric drives of oil well production are used in operation, which is due to the complexity of obtaining feedback signals on the angular velocity of the rotor and the moment of resistance on the shaft by means of submersible telemetry. This problem determines the relevance and necessity of developing observers for rotor speed and load torque estimation, taking into account the features of the technological process of installing centrifugal electric pumps, in particular, the presence of a long cable for powering a submersible electric motor based on a synchronous machine with permanent magnets. Aim. To develop a full-order observer rotor speed and load torque for the dynamic system "long supply cable – synchronous motor with permanent magnets". Methods. System analysis and identification of dynamic systems, synthesis of Luenberger observers, mathematical modeling of dynamic systems, electric drives and electrical machines. Result and conclusions. The authors have proposed the mathematical model of a rotor speed and load torque full-order observer for the dynamic system "long supply cable – synchronous motor with permanent magnets". The performance of the observer was investigated under varying load on the shaft, mismatch of non-zero initial conditions, deviation of the parameters of the equivalent circuit of the observer and the object in the range from –20 to +20% of the nominal values.

Relevance. The necessity to assess the role of altered volcanic ash on the formation of mineral and geochemical characteristics of coal-bearing deposits. Traces of volcanic material in coals are diagnosed mainly in the form of clay horizons – tonsteins. The study of the chemical and mineral composition of clay tuffaceous horizons and the host coals allows us to answer a number of questions concerning volcanic material impact on coal accumulation. Tonsteins are known in Paleozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic coal-bearing deposits. Finds of Mesozoic tonsteins are relatively rare. In this regard, the Kharanorskoe brown coal deposit is a unique object for the study of altered layers of volcanic ash in Cretaceous coal-bearing deposits. Aim. Comprehensive study of altered volcanic ash in Cretaceous coals of the Zabaikalsky Krai. Methods. Field studies; the mineral composition was studied by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometry; chemical composition was determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry, and instrumental neutron activation analysis. Results and conclusions. The paper presents data on the mineral and chemical composition of tonstein in the Early Cretaceous Novy-1a coal seam of the Kharanorskoe deposit located in the southeast of the Eastern Siberia (Russia). The mineral composition of the tonstein is represented by kaolinite, quartz, and feldspar. Accessory minerals are zircon, ilmenite, monazite-(Ce), and xenotime-(Y). The tonstein is characterized by high concentrations of Ga, Nb, Hf, Ta, Hg, Th and U. The highest concentrations of rare trace elements in the coal, and especially in the coal ash of the Novy-1a seam, are localized in the areas of contact between the tonstein and the coal. The enrichment with REE, Zr, Nb, Y, Ta, Hf, Th and U is the most significant. Mineralogical and geochemical characteristics of the studied tonstein indicate its formation from volcanic ash of alkaline composition.

Relevance. Currently, there is an active search for photocatalytic materials suitable for water decomposition and hydrogen production that exhibit activity when exposed to visible light, and are also accessible, chemically stable and safe. In this regard, a number of materials with the general formula TinO2n-1 (n=2–10) are distinguished, they are called Magnéli phases. Despite the fact that Magnéli phases exhibit significantly higher photocatalytic activity compared to traditional titanium oxides (rutile, anatase, brookite), their practical application is currently extremely difficult due to the complexity of their synthesis. Promising approaches are those that provide well-controlled conditions with the possibility of rapid stabilization of the system, among which plasma synthesis methods stand out. Aim. To develop a method for synthesizing a product containing Magnéli phases in a high-speed jet of electric discharge plasma. Objects. Dispersed materials obtained in the Ti-O system. Methods. Plasma dynamic synthesis, X-ray diffractometry (X-ray phase analysis), scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy. Results. Using a high-speed jet of electric discharge plasma generated by a coaxial magnetoplasma accelerator, experimental studies were performed on the synthesis of non-stoichiometric titanium oxides in a carbon dioxide environment. The composition and microstructure of the obtained dispersed products were studied. It was revealed that the materials contain Magnéli phases TinO2n−1, as well as traditional stoichiometric rutile and anatase. From the point of view of the efficiency of obtaining Magnéli phases, the single-pulse mode of operation is more attractive (content over 50%), while the efficiency of CO2 conversion is higher in the multi-pulse mode (up to 10% of CO2 is converted into CO). A distinctive feature of the synthesized materials at both the micro- and nanolevels is the tendency to form particles with a high degree of sphericity. The nanofraction of the products mainly consists of rounded particles with sizes up to hundreds of nanometers, of which the Magnéli phases primarily include nanoparticles with a characteristic highly defective crystalline structure with dislocation shifts.

Relevance. At enterprises engaged in open-pit mining, water-reducing wells equipped with submersible installations of electric submersible pumps are widely used in drainage systems. A significant content of particles of mechanical impurities in the pumped-out well fluid causes intense hydro-abrasive wear of the working stages of the electric submersible pumps. Among the existing methods of combating hydro-abrasive wear of submersible pumps in water-reducing wells, the simplest, most economical and effective is the use of filters of various designs. An urgent task is to increase the operating time of submersible electric submersible pumps while reducing the time and costs for cleaning or replacing filters. Aim. Justification of the designs and operating parameters of a self-cleaning filter and tubing string extension included in the electric submersible pump assembly of a dewatering well. Methods. Static calculations of deformation of the tubing column and the tubing column extension under the influence of overpressure. Results and conclusions. The authors have carried out the analysis of an electric submersible pump functioning in the dewatering wells of quarries during the development of mineral deposits by the open method. It was revealed that the main reason for the failure of the electric submersible pumps is the hydro-abrasive wear of the working stages of the submersible pump. The authors propose a method to increase the operating time of the electric submersible pumps in dewatering wells complicated by intensive removal of particles of mechanical impurities by using a self-cleaning filter of the original design. It is noted that a promising direction of development of the drive for self-cleaning filters is the use of deformation of the tubing column. Based on the calculations carried out, it was concluded that the small depths of dewatering wells cause an insufficient amount of deformation of the tubing string to clean the filter element. To increase the length of the reciprocating movement of the electric submersible pumps relative to the production string of a dewatering well, it is proposed to use a tubing string extension of an original design. The operating parameters of the tubing string extension were calculated, which showed the possibility of providing the required amount of controlled reciprocating movement of the electric submersible pumps in the well to restore the throughput of a self-cleaning filter.

Relevance. A passive experiment is one of the advanced techniques for a static load voltage characteristic identification. External electric grid impact on mode parameters at a load node – a grid response – sophisticates the statistical processing of passive experiment results significantly. For this reason, the analysis of a grid response impact and detection of its reduction are relevant problems. Aim. Quantitative evaluation of a grid response impact is produced by grid response active and reactive power coefficients; therefore the aim of this paper is to analyze the variance of grid response coefficients in relation on scheme and mode parameters. This allows finding techniques of reducing a grid response impact. Methods. Transformations of the Jacobi matrix, when scheme and mode parameters are formed as complex numbers. Results. The authors have proposed the analytic expressions, reproducing dependences of grid response coefficients on scheme and mode parameters in general variants. Conclusions. Based on the analytic and schematic dependencies the authors determined the measures for reducing a grid response impact. It is demonstrated that with increase in the impedance among power and load nodes, a grid response impact grows as well by active and reactive power. The authors proposed the practical technique for calculating a grid response impact. The perspective trends for improving accuracy in identifying a grid response impact using current mode and scheme parameters are defined.

Relevance. The need to develop highly effective methods for purifying the process solution from impurity calcium and aluminum ions for the industrial production of lithium hydroxide at the Chemical Metallurgical Plant JSC in Krasnoyarsk. Aim. Development of methods for reducing the content of impurity calcium and aluminum ions in the process solution of lithium hydroxide after caustification to a concentration of 5–10 mg/l. Methods. Evaporation and crystallization, precipitation of colloidal sediments of aluminum and calcium with an ammonia buffer solution, chemical precipitation with 8-hydroxyquinoline. Results and conclusions. The effectiveness of the applied methods for purifying a process solution of lithium hydroxide from calcium and aluminum ions was shown: evaporation followed by crystallization, precipitation with an ammonia buffer solution, precipitation in the form of hydroxyquinolates. It was experimentally established that when using the evaporation method followed by crystallization, the degree of extraction of impurity aluminum ions Al3+ is achieved 29%; and calcium ions Ca2+ – 56%. When cleaning the process solution by precipitation of aluminum hydroxide colloid with an ammonia buffer solution, the degree of extraction for aluminum ions Al3+ was 96%; for calcium ions Ca2+ – 67%. The use of the chemical precipitation method with 8-hydroxyquinoline in an alkaline solution showed the degree of extraction of aluminum ions Al3+ 20%; and calcium ions Ca2+ – 76%. It was established that the method of evaporation and crystallization of the process solution does not require the use of special reagents. A method using an ammonia buffer solution to remove impurity calcium and aluminum ions shown to be simple and effective. For the first time, a method was proposed for cleaning the process solution after caustification using an aqueous-alkaline solution of 8-hydroxyquinoline, excluding the use of organic, flammable and toxic solvents.

Relevance. The need to assess the stability of combustion, thermal stress and nitrogen oxides (NOx) emission during load reduction of a steam boiler. Since renewable energy sources and nuclear power plants will receive great attention in the future, coal-fired thermal power plants are to operate at reduced loads, so it is important to investigate the reliability of operation and environmental parameters of the boiler unit in case of load adjustment. Aim. To investigate pulverized coal fuel burnout, temperature parameters and NOx emission at 50 % reduction of boiler unit load in the base configuration and taking into account installation of tertiary blast nozzles. Objects. Furnace chamber of a natural circulation boiler unit with steam capacity of 220 t/h in the baseline layout and with tertiary air nozzles. Methods. The package of application programs FIRE-3D for numerical study was applied. Combustion of pulverized coal fuel is a complex physical and chemical process, therefore the interaction of gas flow and solid particles was modeled using Eulerian and Lagrangian schemes, respectively. In the gas phase, the combustion of volatiles and CO with further combustion of carbon residue are modeled. NOx emission is modeled using post-treatment models including formation of fast, fuel and thermal nitrogen oxides. Results. Temperature fields, flow characteristics, NOx emissions for different loads of the furnace chamber of the boiler unit with steam capacity of 220 t/hour are obtained on the basics of numerical modeling. The authors have obtained quantitative estimations of furnace environment parameters corresponding to several levels of boiler load reduction up to 50% of the nominal one. Installation of four tertiary blast nozzles allows reducing NOx emissions by 12.75% at theoretically required amount of air in burner devices (α=1.0).

Relevance. It is known that swelling of a well wall due to the presence of water negatively affects drilling operations, causing a significant increase in their material costs. The use of various inhibitors prevents this effect and the drilling mud reacting on wellbore narrowing. In this sense, the problems of developing polymer, amino-, ionic liquid and shale inhibitors of surfactants considered in the article are very relevant and of practical interest to oil engineers in terms of the prospects for fundamental and applied researches of these issues. Aim. To study the possibilities of existing approaches and methods that determine the characteristics of the main clay swelling inhibitors, the regularities of changes in the properties of traditional and non-traditional clay materials, as well as the mechanisms of clay swelling with the identification of the most characteristic group of these inhibitors. Object. Processes of minimizing the effect of wall narrowing as a result of exposure to inhibitors. Methods. Systematic, critical and comprehensive analysis of modern data on clay swelling inhibition in the field of drilling muds. Results. The authors have carried out the detailed analysis of clay swelling. The paper discusses the characteristics of inhibitors required to prevent swelling, in the structure of which nitrogen and ionic liquids are contained. It is noted that a high-quality clay swelling inhibitor should include in its base a water-soluble bulk molecule with a distinct hydrophobic and hydrophilic structure; have characteristics, which allow replacing the hydrated cations of the intermediate layer with some hydrophobic cations, such as ammonium ions instead of sodium ions; differ in the ability to disperse multiple cations well. It was found that functional groups that support inhibitor binding to the siloxane groups of the clay are able to significantly expand clay swelling.

Relevance. The need for scientifically based regulation of impacts on wetland ecosystems taking into account their specificity and geochemical stability. Aim. To determine the geochemical stability of wetlands in the taiga zone of Western Siberia to pollutants for two typical cases associated with: 1) operation of sludge pits; 2) discharge of domestic and industrial wastewater. Methods. Mathematical modeling, statistical methods. Results and conclusions. The authors have carried out the analysis of the results of studies of the chemical composition of wetland waters and extracts from peat and mineral soils of wetlands in the taiga zone of Western Siberia (mainly in the Tomsk region, as well as in the adjacent territories of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, Novosibirsk and Omsk regions). They obtained the estimates of the average values of geochemical indicators of wetland waters and peat by the depth of the peat deposit in peat bogs with varying degrees of anthropogenic impact. The paper introduces the method for assessing the anthropogenic impact of wastewater discharge and geomigration on swamps in areas where oil and gas facilities are located (permissible concentrations in wastewater entering swamp ecosystems), taking into account the «geochemical background» and sorption capacity of peat. In particular, the authors substantiated and tested the method for assessing the values of permissible concentrations, which should be considered as a «relatively safe» level of impact on swamp ecosystems, at which secondary pollution of swamp waters is not expected. It is shown that anthropogenic changes are mainly limited vertically by the upper layer of the peat deposit up to 1–2 m, and horizontally (within the active horizon of the peat deposit) – by areas up to 100–200 m.

Relevance. In Kuzbass, a coalbed methane production project is being implemented for the first time in Russia. Formation water extracted together with coalbed methane plays an important role, since it has been in contact with the coal-bearing rocks for a long time, therefore it contains rich geochemical information. Over the period 2002–2022, new isotopic data were accumulated both on the waters of the region coal deposits and on overlying waters, including surface waters. Aim. Based on the material accumulated on the isotopic composition (δD, δ18O, δ13C, 34S, 3H, 14C) of natural waters in coal-bearing areas, create an evolutionary scheme for the formation of waters within the framework of the developed hypothesis on the interaction of water-rock-coal-methane. Objects. River, underground waters of the zone of active water exchange, upper and lower parts of the zone of slow water exchange (extracted together with coalbed methane). Methods. Studies of the isotopic composition of waters were carried out in several laboratories: in the Multielement and Isotope Research Center of the SB RAS, the Technical Branch of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “SNIIGGIMS”, in the radiocarbon AMS laboratory based on the Center for Collective Use “Cenozoic Geochronology” and in the Pacific Oceanological Institute Far Eastern Branch Russian Academy of Sciences (POI) FEB RAS. Results and conclusions. The paper introduces the data on δD, δ18О, δ13С и δ34S for surface and groundwater in Kuzbass in coalbed methane production areas. It is shown that all the waters under consideration are infiltration based on their isotopic composition (δD and δ18О). The waters of the lower part of the slow water exchange, produced together with coalbed methane, are characterized by a positive oxygen shift and very light hydrogen. A diagram of the evolution of the isotopic composition of water-dissolved carbon in the region has been compiled according to the data obtained. It is noted that the atmospheric source of CO2 is characteristic only of river waters, and only biogenic carbon dioxide is present in groundwater. The wide range of δ13СDIC values of the latter is explained by the varying degrees of participation of light soil carbon dioxide and heavy biochemical carbon dioxide formed during methane formation in the coal seam. The heaviest values are typical for waters produced together with coalbed methane, which is associated with long-term interaction with coal and methane. The time of such interaction was determined using the radiocarbon method: 17–30 thousand years. In areas where coalbed methane is produced, an increase in δ13СDIC values for all natural waters is observed, which requires further study.

Relevance. The need to dentify the characteristics of the distribution of radioactive elements in the groundwater of Northern Kazakhstan. Aim. Generalization of available data on the geochemistry of groundwater and uranium and radon distribution in them using the example of the northern regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Methods. Generalization of long-term hydrogeochemical research and compilation of an electronic data bank on the territory of Northern Kazakhstan. A laboratory study of the chemical composition of groundwater was carried out at the Research Laboratory of Hydrogeochemistry of the School of Natural Resources Engineering of Tomsk Polytechnic University. Measurements of 222Rn contents in waters were carried out using the Alfarad Plus complex in the Laboratory of Hydrogeology of Sedimentary Basins of Siberia, Institute of Geology and Geography, Siberian Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences. Results. The groundwater of aquifers of different ages, distributed in the territory of Northern Kazakhstan (North Kazakhstan uranium province), was studied. Two geochemical sets of groundwater were identified. The first is characterized by the dominance of HCO3– and Mg2+ in the water composition, and the second by Cl– and Na+. A change in composition and an increase in the value of total mineralization from 0,1 to 49 g/dm3, in the direction from north to south, indicate the development of continental salinization. In natural waters of the first group, uranium content varies from 0.065 to 16000 μg/dm3 and radon activity from 4 to 3885 Bq/dm3. For sodium chloride waters of the second set, concentrations can reach 32500 μg/dm3, and radon activity is 6–59 Bq/dm3, since the emanating reservoir (granitoids) is located to the north – at a distance of 80–100 km. Naturally, granitoid massifs of the studied region are sources of uranium. Their drainage by the river network leads to its removal and concentration on geochemical barriers in the groundwater of the Neogene-Quaternary aquifer. This distribution of radioactive elements is associated with the high migration ability of uranium in solution in the form of uranyl ion in oxidizing geochemical conditions.

Relevance. In gas industry, the amount of equipment that has outlived its intended service life is increasing every year. In accordance with the law “On Industrial Safety of Hazardous Production Facilities,” compressor stations are dangerous objects, the reliable operation of which largely determines the condition of main gas pipelines. Technological pipelines of a compressor station are important objects of this system. They are subject to strict requirements due to the action of static and dynamic loads on them. Reliability of compressor stations is based on the results of a study of the condition of the object and the main factors affecting increased wear of equipment. The solution to wear problem is timely monitoring of equipment, in particular level measurement and determining the causes of pipeline vibrations using vibration diagnostics methods, and frequency and modal analysis methods. Aim. To study the causes of increased dynamic loads on the technological piping that arise during the operation of electric and gas pumping units at a compressor station using vibration monitoring methods. Methods. Vibration monitoring methods to analyze the causes of increased vibration values in the process piping of a compressor station with an electric gas pumping unit. Results and conclusions. The authors have measured vibration in a wide frequency band and assessed the technological condition of the main equipment of the compressor station with EGPA-6.3/8200-56/1.44-R based on the regulatory documentation STO Gazprom 2-2.3-324-2009. The main frequencies of the root-mean-square value of the vibration velocity, at which the highest vibration values were observed, were identified, and a modal analysis was performed using ANSYS software. Based on the results of natural studies and modal analysis, it was concluded about the occurrence of resonant high-frequency oscillations, multiple of the rotor rotation frequency.

Relevance. A submersible electric motor is the most vulnerable component of an electric centrifugal pumping unit used in in-situ leaching uranium mining. The accuracy of calculating the need for new electric motors directly affects the profitability of the uranium production. Aim. Development of a probabilistic reliability model for a submersible electric motor that provides the calculation of its failure probability for the upcoming period of time and allows estimating with sufficient accuracy the number of motors required to replace the failed ones. Methods. Statistical methods, survival analysis, statistical hypothesis testing. Results and conclusions. The authors conducted a study of three probabilistic reliability models for electric motors of submersible well pumping units used in in-situ leaching uranium mining. As a result of the study, the maximum likelihood estimates of model parameters were determined for each model; the adequacy of the models under study was checked based on nonparametric goodness-of-fit tests. Despite the fact that the test results did not allow excluding any of the considered models, a model based on a mixture of two Weibull distributions was selected as a probabilistic reliability model demonstrating higher consistency with real data, compared to the other models. At the same time, the analysis of the components of the mixture distribution indicated the presence of a group of electric motors with an uncharacteristically low time-to-failure value compared to the average value calculated for the entire set of equipment under study, and made it possible to estimate the share of such motors, which amounted to 8% of the total population. Possible reasons explaining such heterogeneity of data, according to the authors, are hidden manufacturing defects or more severe operating conditions in which some submersible electric motors operate.

Relevance. The intensification of open-pit mining in the coal basins of the Russian Federation is accompanied by an increase in negative impact on the environment. Directly in Kuzbass, the environment is exposed to the impact of the coal industry, especially when conducting open-pit mining using deep mining systems, with external dumping, which is accompanied by the withdrawal of a large amount of undisturbed land. The block method of mining quarry fields, well known in mining, has been rarely implemented in existing and planned quarry fields. The general line of its application is the lack of a unified approach to the design of block parameters, including environmental and economic assessment of the impact of this technological solution on the environment. Aim. Reduce environmental payments of mining enterprises with justified parameters of blocks for the development of quarry fields of promising inclined and steeply dipping coal deposits. Methods. Systematic generalization of the actual situation of mining operations in open-pit mines using the block method of mining quarry fields, the method of options and technical and economic modeling using spreadsheets. Results and conclusions. The authors have proposed the ecological and economic criteria for assessing the application of the block method of quarry field development. This allows us to study the patterns of change in environmental indicators. Using the example of the Krasnobrodskoe open-pit mine, the costs of environmental payments for the use of land resources, emissions and dusting are calculated for two options different from the design documentation. Based on the calculation results, the authors proved the efficiency of applying the block procedure for developing promising coal deposits, allowing us to reduce the costs for environmental impact by 22.5 and 63%, respectively, when changing the length of the initial block along the bottom from 2.2 to 1.4 km. From which it follows that the combined ecological and economic indicators allow us to fully assess the feasibility of applying the method for calculating block parameters, which is generally reflected in reduction in the costs for negative impact on the environment.

Relevance. The need to increase the efficiency of solar modules to 15–20% by cooling their surface, which in spring and summer is able to heat up to 70 ℃. Heat collection from photovoltaic modules is an additional opportunity to accumulate heat and use it for their own needs, especially for isolated power systems. The article discusses methods of closed cooling using tubes made of copper, metal plastic and stainless steel. All measurements were carried out in summer at a real, operating solar power plant located in the Crimea village of Karyernoe. Aim. To experimentally determine and identify the effect of the most efficient cooling system for photovoltaic modules. Methods. Methods of empirical research. In the experiment, sensors connected to the Arduino UNO system were used to measure the temperature and humidity of the ambient air, the temperature of the refrigerant at the inlet and outlet, and the data were recorded in an Excel table. Soudal FIX ALL adhesive sealant is used to fix the cooling system. Results and conclusions. The authors have obtained volt-ampere characteristics, refrigerant inlet and outlet temperatures, photovoltaic modules surface temperatures. The cooling system made of stainless steel pipes showed the greatest cooling efficiency of the solar module, which allowed reducing the module temperature from 66 to 38℃ at some points. This increased the efficiency of photoelectric module by 3.5% relative to the rated power. The heated liquid from the photoelectric module has cooled down to its original temperature values, thanks to the installed cooling radiator, for the possibility of reuse of the liquid in the solar panel cooling circuit.

Relevance. The need for comprehensive assessment of environmental components in the zones of ecologically hazardous industrial facilities impact, which enables to operatively identify the spatial structure of technogenic pollution. Aim. Chemical pollution assessment of the geological environment in the zones of industrial objects impact, based on the combined use of remote sensing and ground-based geoelectric methods. Objects. Sources of pollution during the production of mineral fertilizers (phosphogypsum dumps, sulfur storage). Methods. The author has developed a complex of methods, consisting of multispectral space imaging (Sentinel-2 satellite images) and ground-based geoelectric researches: water surface resistivity measurements, natural electric field potential imaging, vertical electrical sounding. According to satellite image data (vegetation indices NDVI, NBR, SWVI), technogenic geosystems modifications are distinguished, characterizing different levels of chemical pollution (TM-1, TM-2 and natural geosystem). Within the modification zones, geoelectrical studies are carried out to assess the depth of contamination. Results. In the zone of phosphogypsum dumps impact, two technogenic modifications were distinguished, with a total area of 83.3 hectares, characterized by a statistically significant decrease in the values of vegetation indices compared to the average level. Based on the results of vertical electrical sounding, it was established that the depth of contamination in the TM-1 zone reaches up to 20 m, in the TM-2 zone – up to 2.5 m. The migration of contaminated substances from the dumps occurs with surface drain. In the zone of impact of the sulfur storage, the area of pollution, specified with vegetation indices, covers two hectares. According to the results of the natural electric field method and vertical electrical sounding, the flow of pollution from the sulfur storage site penetrates into groundwater, which is discharged in the TM-1 zone, causing the death of vegetation. In the TM-2 zone, contamination is registered only in the ground aquifer. The developed set of methods enables to quickly and relatively comprehensively diagnose the state of the undergoing technogenic impacts geological environment.

Relevance. The need to predict deformations of the earth's surface near injection wells pumping liquid radioactive waste, as well as their stability when pressure changes in the well during injection. Aim. To perform a numerical analysis of the stress-strain state of the structural elements of the injection well and the surrounding rock mass using the finite element method, to determine the magnitude of the deformations of the earth's surface and define the stability of the well and the strength of the cement stone at the maximum injection pressure of liquid radioactive waste. Objects. Near-wellbore zone of one of the injection wells located at the liquid radioactive waste injection site. Methods. Numerical finite element method for calculating the stress-strain state of the near-wellbore zone, taking into account the distribution of the elastic properties of rocks along the simulated section and the main structural elements of the well. Results. The authors have developed the numerical finite element scheme of one of the injection wells, taking into account its main structural elements, as well as allowing you to set the pressure distribution within the exploited horizon during the injection of waste. In the model, the distribution of the elastic properties of rocks along the section was set, taking into account their lithological features. The authors carried out the analysis of the hydrodynamic parameters of the well operation and determined the maximum pressure at the wellhead during the injection of liquid radioactive waste, equal to 1.71 MPa. Numerical modeling of the stress-strain state of the near-wellbore zone was performed in two stages: for the conditions of an idle well and taking into account the pressure distribution at the maximum waste injection pressure. The distribution of vertical displacements at the level of the earth's surface, as well as at the top of the operational horizon at the maximum pressure of liquid radioactive waste injection, is obtained. It is shown that at such a pressure, the largest uplifts will be: on the earth's surface – 4.5 cm, on the top of the production horizon – 11 cm. An assessment of the stability of the well structural elements at a maximum waste injection depth of 280 m, corresponding to the maximum pressure, showed that the stresses in the well and cement stone are much lower than the values that can lead to their violation. For cement stone, the safety factor at a maximum pressure of 1.71 MPa was equal to 7.8.

Relevance. А simple and up-to-date methodology is needed to assess the potential of electricity that can be obtained from solar power plants installed in different regions. The difficulty in assessing the potential of solar energy lies in the presence of some factors that affect electricity generation and depend on random events. Such factors include, first of all, the sky clarity, the direction of photovoltaic panels strictly to the Sun, dustiness, and ambient temperature. The literature uses different approaches to assess the potential of solar energy. This paper presents a methodology for evaluating the generation of electricity by a solar panel having a continuous solar tracking system, taking into account the dustiness and temperature of photovoltaic panels. The technique has been tested on an existing physical model. Aim. To study the existing methods for assessing the potential of solar energy and to select the most suitable ones for the central part of Russia. Object. Solar power plants. Methods. Empirical and analytical methods. Using data obtained from an operating solar station, the adequacy of the proposed methodology was assessed. Results. The selected methods take into account the hourly sky clarity index, which made it possible, with sufficient accuracy for engineering techniques, to determine the daily power generation of a solar station with different angles of inclination of solar panels. This will improve the accuracy of estimating the potential of electricity generated by solar power plants, both with stationary photovoltaic panels and with solar tracking systems. Based on the conducted computational experiments and the analysis of data obtained from an operating solar station, the authors concluded that the technique presented in this paper allows us to determine with high enough accuracy the potential of electricity that can be produced in Russia by solar stations.

Relevance. The widespread distribution and availability of biomass in the regions of Russian Federation make it possible to consider it as a renewable energy source with a lower negative impact on the environment compared to fossil fuels, since biomass is recognized as a carbon-neutral fuel. The use of biomass as a fuel in the form of pellets is increasing, which provides increased density and heat value. At the same time, pellets as a fuel or as a technological raw material have a significant disadvantage – low hydrophobicity. This problem is solved by torrefaction – low-temperature pyrolysis at a temperature of 200–300°C to produce bio-carbon. The study of the wood pellets torrefaction in order to improve it is an urgent task. Aim. To identify the impact of the parameters of the torrefaction of wood pellets on the thermal characteristics of the product (the highest heat value of bio-coal) and the regime parameters of the process (mass and energy yields), as well as to determine the parameters of the chemical kinetics of low-temperature pyrolysis as the basis for mathematical modeling and development of efficient torrefaction reactors. Object. Torrefied coniferous wood pellets of domestic production (Moscow region). Methods. Experimental study of the low-temperature pyrolysis thermal characteristics; synchronous thermal analysis in an inert atmosphere. Results. It was found that during the torrefaction of wood pellets in an inert atmosphere, a change in the holding time in the range of 30–60 minutes does not significantly affect the higher heat value, mass and energy yield of bio-coal, while an increase in temperature from 250 to 300°C reduces mass and energy yield, and the higher heat value increases by 26%. The dynamics of mass loss and thermal effects when heated to 600°C at a rate of 10 K/min are determined by means of the synchronous thermal analysis. It is established that the chemical kinetics of the process is described by a generalized reaction of the order n=1.507, in the Arrhenius equation the activation energy E=71.25 kJ/mol, the pre-exponential factor A=4772 s–1.

Relevance. Russian coal exports have been steadily increasing in recent years, and Far Eastern ports, originally not adapted to dusty cargoes, have switched to coal operations. Unoptimized coal handling leads to increased content of coal-containing particles in the air and to various environmental problems. Aim. To analyze the concentration of particulate matter in the air and the chemical composition of particles on the surface of conifer needles in the Posyet settlement (Primorsky Krai, Russia), where a large coal terminal operates. Materials and methods. The chemical composition was studied on the surface of conifer needles by X-ray fluorescence and in washout of conifer needle samples using Raman spectroscopy and energy dispersive analysis. Concentrations of particles with the diameter of 2.5 and 10 μm (PM2.5 and PM10, respectively) were measured using automatic monitoring stations. Results and conclusions. Chemical composition was dominated by mineral particles (calcite, silicates, etc.). However, the presence of coal particles (up to 8.3%) and metal particles was also observed. Mean concentrations of PM2.5 and PM10 were within the Russian and international health standards, but close to their upper limits. Concentrations of both measured particle fractions were highest during the winter months (as well as in March, which is traditionally a cold month in the Far East), followed by a gradual decrease. The study obtained new data on the annual variations of concentrations of PM2.5 and PM10, as well as on the basic composition of particles from the surface of woody vegetation (needles) as an indicator of the state of air pollution in this settlement.

Relevance. The assessment of the state of natural waters includes the determination of a number of physico-chemical indicators, on the basis of which various indices and classifications are developed. However, they do not take into account a number of pollutants that have a significant impact on the state of the reservoir, for example, polyaromatic hydrocarbons. The article considers some aspects of determining priority pollutants, which include polyaromatic hydrocarbons, according to environmental hazard criteria: toxicity, carcinogenicity, prevalence, frequency of occurrence, source of origin (anthropogenic or natural). Hydrochemical parameters such as pH, dissolved oxygen content, biological oxygen consumption (BPK5), and ion content are taken into account to determine water quality. An attempt was made to assess the impact of polyaromatic hydrocarbons on the ecological state of water bodies and to take into account their contribution to changes in the values of the water pollution index. All these data prove the relevance of the study. Aim. To establish the composition of polyaromatic hydrocarbons in the surface waters of small reservoirs of the Tomsk region to assess anthropogenic load and to show the relationship with the indices of natural water quality. Methods. Extraction, liquid adsorption chromatography, high-performance liquid chromatography, capillary electrophoresis, amperometry, titrimetry. Results. Small lakes of the Tomsk region were studied for the content of 13 polyaromatic hydrocarbons. The authors have carried out the identification by high-performance liquid chromatography with fluorimetric detection. The total content of polyaromatic compounds in the studied surface water samples varies from 0.37 to 0.54 mcg/l. In the polyaromatic hydrocarbons mixture in aqueous samples, there is an increased content of light 2–3 nuclear polyarenes with better solubility (naphthalene, fluorene and phenanthrene), as well as benz[a]anthracene. The content of inorganic components represented by cations and anions does not exceed the maximum permissible concentrations. The water pollution index was calculated; all lakes are moderately polluted, closer to polluted. The paper demonstrates the dependence of the water pollution index coefficient on the content of high-molecular polyaromatic hydrocarbons and the ratio of high-molecular to low-molecular polyaromatic hydrocarbons. It is shown that the higher the value of the water pollution index coefficient, the higher the proportion of difficult-to-oxidize components in surface waters.

Relevance. Almost all gas fields, both in Russia and in the world, are developed under water-pressure conditions, which means that sooner or later the field operator is faced with the problem of well watering and liquid accumulation at their bottom. The control methods proposed at this stage of development of science and technology and the useful models and inventions applied for this, although they show their effectiveness in removing droplet liquid from the production wellbore, do not contribute to the further advancement of the removed fluid through the system for collecting and preparing products. Because of this fact, a number of problems arise, for example, the formation of local resistance in the form of ice or hydrate plugs, the cause of which is the fluid removed from the wellbore. Aim. Development of a universal device that can be used both in the production collection and preparation system and inside production wells, capable of injecting produced water into the gas flow in order to prevent the formation of “stagnant zones” of liquid. Objects. Flooded gas wells, the gas pressure in which is not enough to remove droplet liquid from the wellbore or transport this liquid to the place of product preparation. Methods. Assessment and analysis of existing devices to prevent the formation of liquid plugs in a gas collection system, identifying their main shortcomings, as well as mathematical modeling of the proposed model, in which these shortcomings are eliminated. Results and conclusions. The paper introduces a brief description of the problem under study and studies and discusses the main methods of preventing the formation of liquid plugs, used in gas fields both in Russia and in other countries. The authors have proposed the design of a universal device, which is devoid of the main identified disadvantages of analogue devices, and carried out its simplified mathematical calculation.

Relevance. The presence and uncontrolled distribution of aerosols of various substances in the air, which have a negative impact on humans, flora and fauna. This problem is especially acute in the extraction, processing and combustion of georesources. The most effective way to solve the problem is the use of high-intensity ultrasonic vibrations, the effect of which on aerosols causes convergence and agglomeration of small particles into large ones. However, at low concentrations, the particle coagulation efficiency is not sufficient to increase the recovery rate of gas treatment equipment. Therefore, there is a need to find new ways to optimize ultrasonic equipment for coagulation of fine particles in order to increase its efficiency. Aim. To determine the optimal conditions for ultrasonic influence on a swirling gas-dispersed flow, ensuring maximum efficiency of agglomeration of highly dispersed particles. Carrying out comparative studies of coagulation of particles when exposed to ultrasonic fields generated by different types of radiators and their combined effects will make it possible to determine the effectiveness of ultrasonic coagulation and the optimal design scheme of ultrasonic exposure. Objects. Coagulation of particles under ultrasonic impact, formed by various types of radiators. Methods. Computer modeling of the generated ultrasonic field using the finite element method using harmonic acoustic analysis. Finite element modeling and design of disk radiators using modal analysis. To determine the characteristics of the aerosol, a Malvern Spraytec Particle Analyzer was used. Results. The results of calculations and experiments have shown that the use of an extended ultrasonic tubular radiator operating on a bending-diametric mode of vibration and forming a ring standing wave with a sound pressure level of 162–165 dB as the main source of ultrasonic impact for devices with swirling flows may be the most energy efficient. Further increase in the efficiency of coagulation can only be achieved by the combined action of a tubular radiator and a longitudinally oscillating radiator. This significantly modifies the field structure and provides not only an increase in the sound pressure level (up to 167 dB), but also in the number of formed nodal surfaces (up to 44).

Relevance. It is known that sedimentary deposits in modern lakes with high sedimentation rates contain detailed paleoclimatic, paleobiological, paleoecological and magnetic records. The study of these parameters allow creation of paleoreconstructions and prediction of future climate behavior. Aim. To identify ecological and climatic events and trends during the Late Quaternary, based on magnetic properties of rocks. Some climate-dependent parameters are not properly used, we are showing that magnetic parameters are sensitive indicators of climate change. Object. Sediments of the Lake Kandrykul (Republic of Bashkortostan). Materials and methods. A set of petromagnetic studies was carried out, including measurements of magnetic susceptibility, normal remanent magnetization in external magnetic field of up to 1.5 T, as well as differential thermomagnetic analysis on induced magnetization and scanning electron microscopy on selected samples. Normal magnetization curves were used to set apart dia-/paramagnetic, ferromagnetic and superparamagnetic components. Results. Seismoacoustic studies showed that the lake bed is smooth, without sharp changes. The maximum water depth is about 16 m, the thickness of sediments reaches 7.5 m. Magnetic susceptibility was measured for three core columns, and the results show good correlation of this parameter between all the cores. Thermomagnetic analysis was used to determine magnetic minerals composition. The Day–Dunlop plot showed the presence of single, pseudo-single and multidomain grains. The authors determined the contribution of dia/para-, ferro-, and superparamagnetic components to the overall magnetic susceptibility. The paper considers the variations in magnetic susceptibility, para-, ferromagnetic components in the context of the Holocene climate changes. Conclusions. Variations in magnetic properties reflect climate changes (i.e. deposition environment). Six zones with different depositional conditions were distinguished based on magnetic susceptibility and its component changes. Additionally, zones with single-domain particles were highlighted based on hysteresis parameters variations. These zones most likely are associated with the remains of magnetotactic bacteria. Joint analysis of paramagnetic, ferromagnetic susceptibility and hysteresis parameters produced information on the effect of total humidity on the bioproductivity of the lake.

Relevance. The necessity to calculate the changes in filtration properties during injection of suspensions for subsequent forecasting of technological parameters of wells. This calculation is complicated by the presence of different-scale effects, since the penetration depth of dispersed particles is orders of magnitude smaller than the characteristic dimensions of the formation. These effects have not been studied in detail before. Aim. To analyze the effect of a small parameter on the behavior of flow characteristics using a mathematical model of suspension filtration in a porous medium. Objects. Colmatation coefficient, filtration coefficient, distribution of concentration of dispersed particles in the formation, porosity, mathematical model of deep-bed suspension migration into a porous medium. Methods. Numerical modeling, explicit finite-difference scheme, solution of a problem with a small parameter, introduction of dimensionless parameters, method of characteristics. Results and conclusions. It is shown that the processes of conformance control and colmatation of a porous medium are described within the framework of a unified system of equations of deep-bed suspension migration into a porous medium. It is identified that the concentration of retained particles is a small parameter that allows reducing the complete system of equations of deep-bed suspension migration into a porous medium to a simplified form, in which the solution can be obtained analytically using the method of characteristics. The authors compared the solutions of the complete and simplified systems of equations of deep-bed suspension migration into a porous medium, indicating their compliance with an error of less than 4 %. They obtained the distributions of the concentration of dispersed particles and porosity in the reservoir during colmatation, showing that over time the colmatation front propagates at a constant rate. It is shown that the colmatation coefficient is a small parameter that significantly determines the nature of oil displacement by water, and a decrease in the colmatation coefficient leads to a decrease in the rate of colmatation and the appearance and growth of the size of the stabilized zone near the displacement front.

Relevance. The need to clarify the sources and conditions of formation of gold mineralisation of the Amarzakan gold deposit. The characteristic feature of the deposit is the spatial combination of gold mineralisation and small intrusions of the middle and basic composition of the Amudzhikan complex. Aim. Determination of physico-chemical conditions and nature of the source of the ore substance of the Amazarkan deposit. Methods. ICP-MS method and standard chemical analysis were used to determine the elemental composition of rocks. Sulfur isotope composition of sulfides was obtained using gas-source mass-spectrometry and fluid inclusions in quartz of ore veins were studied by traditional methods of thermobarogeochemistry and by FTIR spectroscopy at the Centre for Collective Use of Multi-element and Isotope Studies of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Novosibirsk). The oxygen isotope composition was determined at the Geological Institute of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Ulan-Ude) using the MIR 10-30 laser heating system with a 100-watt CO2 laser and a wavelength of 10.6 µm in the infrared region in the presence of BrF5 reagent. Results. The authors have established the spatial confinement of ore zones to Mesozoic dikes of the Amudzhikan complex (J2-3). The Eu/Sm and Eu/Eu* ratios in the dikes indicate fractionation of magmatic melts in the sources at the level of the lower continental crust and low degree of their differentiation. The character of REE distribution in the rocks of dikes of the Amudzhikan complex is similar to the distribution of REE in the ores of the deposit. Eu/Sm–Eu/Eu* figurative points of compositions of ore veins and granodiorites of the Amudzhikan complex form a single trend. Dykes of the Amuzhikan complex are characterized by increased Au content from 0.026 to 1.171 g/t. These data suggest a paragenetic link between Au mineralization and rocks of the Amudzhikan complex. Ore veins of productive stages of ore formation were formed at temperatures ranging from 125 to 410°C. The calculated S and O isotopic composition of the ore-forming fluid in equilibrium with pyrite and quartz, as well as the Co/Ni>1 ratio in the ores indicate the presence of a magmatic component in its composition.

The article presents the results of the composition analysis of 27 recent (surface) pollen assemblages collected in typical plant communities in the northern part of the Central Kamchatka Depression and on the surrounding slopes of the Sredinny Range and Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano. Our data show that spore-pollen spectra reliably represent the composition of forest plant communities. However, the proportions of pollen in the spectra of some arboreal taxas does not always correspond to their role in plant communities The adequacy of the spectra for plant communities is confirmed by cluster analysis, according to which the most statistically similar spore-pollen spectra are formed in similar plant communities. Regional components of the spectra in surface samples distort the ratios of main taxa in plant communities, especially in the high altitudinal vegetation belt. The participation of coniferous tree pollen in the spectra is underestimated compared to their actual presence in plant communities. These features must be considered when interpreting fossil spore-pollen spectra. Our materials made it possible to identify taxa whose pollen is often found in the spectra of the subalpine and alpine zones: Alnus alnobetula, Liliaceae, Polygonaceae, Asteraceae, Saussurea, and Sanguisorba. The strongest influence of local vegetation is observed in the spectra of swamps and coastal plant communities. The spectra of these communities usually contain pollen of Alnus hirsuta, Salix, and Populus, as well as Rosaceae, Cyperaceae, Comarum, Myrica, and Menyanthes, and spores of Polypodiaceae and Equisetum. Our materials will facilitate more reasonable reconstructions of Kamchatka vegetation based on the pollen analysis in the study of fossil pollen spectra of the Kamchatka Peninsula, as well as in the interpretation of pollen data from other mountainous regions.

The results of the analysis of changes in electrotelluric potentials (ETP) during the observation of intense solar flare events and intense magnetic storms on Sakhalin are presented. The data were studied in the period from July 20 to October 12, 2023. The absence of characteristic changes in the ETP (integral amplification or attenuation of noise in the low-frequency region) depending on the presence or absence of a solar flare event is shown. At the same time, in some cases, the strongest flashes were found to coincide with the appearance of signals of the GUV type (Geyser type ULF Variation). For almost three months of observations, five cases of quasi-periodic GUV series have been identified, four of which coincide completely or partially with the times of solar flares and magnetic storms. It should be noted that earlier in the literature, the appearance of these signals was not correlated with any physical process. At the same time, the identification of such patterns is an integral part of extensive work on identifying predictive signs of earthquake preparation in the ETP

This paper proposes an experimental model for predicting the intraseasonal variability of ice area in the Sea of Okhotsk, implemented as a computer program. The physical and statistical model was built on the basis of the following components: the relationship of the seasonal maximum ice area in the Sea of Okhotsk with surface air and water surface temperature parameters; the relationship between short-term fluctuations in ice area influenced by cyclonic activity during lunar syzygies; and the tendency of long-term changes in ice area series in the Sea of Okhotsk. Various data series for the period 1980–2018 were analyzed in order to build a predictive physical and statistical model. The main data sources for determining parameter relationships were the ERA-Interim and ERA5 reanalysis archives, data on air temperatures from coastal hydrometeorological stations, and five-day maps of the distribution of ice concentration published by the Japan Meteorological Agency. The predictive model algorithms were implemented in the Python programming language using additional software libraries. The model allows the calculation of predicted values of ice area during the period of its fall-winter growth from November/December until its seasonal maximum (March), with a lead time of up to four months. The input data for constructing regression equations were a long-term series of air and surface water temperature parameters, dates of lunar phase changes, and values of ice area in the Sea of Okhotsk. The output data of the model were the values of the intraseasonal variability of ice area. The model was tested for the period 2001– 2020, and the average relative error of the calculated and predicted values of ice area compared to the actual values was less than 7%. The accuracy of prediction during the period of maximum development growth and the seasonal maximum for temperate and mild winters in terms of the complexity of ice conditions was 79 %.

One of the crucial tasks in studying the genesis and deep structure of mud volcanoes is to determine the origin of the erupted material and the depth of its original location, the so-called roots. The purpose of this study was to present the first results of stratigraphic control of solid emissions from the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Mud Volcano with local stratigraphic units. As a result of field work, a collection of rock material sampled from the mud volcano deposits and natural outcrops of the stratigraphic units typical of the study area has been compiled. According to lithological characteristics, sandstones, siltstones, clay-bearing carbonate, and carbonate rocks have been identified among the large detrital rocks in the solid emissions of the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Mud Volcano. The largest group of rock fragments was represented by the sandstone, which was different in its structural and textural characteristics. The first confirmations have been obtained that the mud volcano chamber extends beyond the traditionally accepted boundaries of the Bykov Formation. The preliminary results of stratigraphic control of large detrital rocks indicate the highest lithological similarity with the deposits from the Lower Bykov Subformation and Naiba Formation, suggesting that the main source (mud volcano chamber) of the erupted large detrital rocks lies within the depth range of 2,500 to 3,500 meters. Evidence of Cenozoic rock inclusion in the mud volcano process has also been found.
