Aim: To assess efficacy of osteogenon in consolidation of solitary fractures of distal part of the radial bone (RB) in patients with secondary osteoporosis (SO) due to rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and chronic renal failure (CRF)., Material and Methods: The study group consisted of 7 patients with documented RA and 8 patients with CRF caused by chronic glomerulonephritis or chronic pyelonephritis in the predialysis period. The control group comprised 13 patients (6 and 7 patients, respectively). The patients were matched by clinico-demographic and therapy characteristics. Patients of the study group received osteogen from the fracture diagnosis to its consolidation., Results: Osteogenon has an analgetic effect, improves well being, raises physical activity, reduces duration of fracture consolidation in patients with SO.

The authors compare the efficacy of ultra highly dispersed hydroxyapatite (brand OSTIM-100) and demineralized bone matrix implanted to 395 patients for repair of bone defects. OSTIM-100 was found not inferior to bone transplant, but devoid of its shortcomings. Complications occurred in 1.5% cases and never involved the site of osteoplasty, whereas in the group transplanted bone matrix 3.6% patients developed complications, which were frequently associated with the graft rejection. OSTIM-100 was particularly effective in the treatment of periodontitis at the stage of abscesses. It is convenient and recommended, in combination with membranes of directed regeneration of tissues (GORE-TEX), for surgical treatment of patients with periodontal diseases.

Rat experiments were performed to study osteogenesis and osseointegration in implanting fragments of dental titanic implants into the spongy bone. The implant spray-coating with hydroxyapatite produced by excimer and CO2 lasers stimulates osteogenesis. Bone tissue integration with implant proceeds more actively in response to CO2 laser radiation. The weakest integration was registered between the metal and bone tissues.
