The aim of our study was to assess the effectiveness of the ptosis induced by injection of Lantox (botulotoxin type A) into levator muscle projection in neurosurgical patients with lagophthalmos and trophic keratitis. The study included 66 patients at the age from 11 to 67 years. Lantox dose used was 10-25 U. Ptosis appeared after 1-7 days. Complete induced ptosis developed in 1-17 days and remained within 6-150 days. Full induced eyelid ptosis developed in 44 patients. Incomplete ptosis was observed in 19 patients. Drug resistance was seen in 3 patients. Our study results demonsrated effectiveness of the induced ptosis: complete recourse of trophic keratitis at development was seen in patients with complete drug-induced ptosis and significant decrease of trophic keratitis was observed in patients with semi-ptosis.

The psychotropic activity of (I, base), its N-oxide, and a complex of the base with 18-alpha-H-glycyrrhizic acid (1:2) was studied. It was established that I and its N-oxide exhibit dopaminopositive effect whereas the complex produces a serotoninopositive effect. Toxicities of the lipophilic I is half that of the hydrophilic; toxicity of N-oxide and the complex are 60 and 100 times lower than the activity of lappaconitine (base).

A single administration of the new lithium compound with prolonged action formed on the basis of lithium oxyburate produces an antiblepharoptosis effect in rats with reserpine depression for 24 to 48 h. It optimally prevents the development of "reserpine-desynchronization" in rats when prescribed in the morning at intervals of 48 h.

Ten antidepressants belonging to different chemical classes administered to mice for 5 days have been found to be more similar as regards the pharmacological action as compared to the effects attained with a single drug use.

Pharmacological properties of some typical and atypical antidepressants administered repeatedly are more alike as compared to their effects attained after a single administration.
