The paper details the results of a secondary analysis aimed at revealing the social role that self-affirmation values play for Russian workers. For this purpose, the specifics of the relationship between such values as “power-wealth” and “achievement” are successively compared with subjective well-being indicators pertinent to hired workers in Russia and their colleagues in other European countries. In addition to traditional indicators of subjective well-being (satisfaction with life and household income evaluation), the role of a worker’s motivational potential is also taken into account. The data produced by the European Social Survey (ESS) in 2006–2018 is used as the information base. The object of the study was workers who had paid jobs at the time of the survey. In contrast to the “scarcity” hypothesis proposed by R. Inglehart and C. Welzel, the “wealth fixation” hypothesis is substantiated in theory and empirically tested for Russian workers with high self-affirmation values. This hypothesis was confirmed: when family income reaches higher values and when subjective evaluations of such income are also high, self-affirmation values grow as well. The analysis showed that positive relations between subjective well-being indicators and self-affirmation values are one of the important distinguishing characteristics of Russian workers. The final conclusions allow for making the claim that the well-being of Russian workers mainly depends on their individual efforts and how they perform at work. The trend towards weakened relations between self-affirmation values and subjective well-being indicators noticed in Russian workers in the period between 2006 and 2018 are believed to be a sign of the decrease in Russian workers’ motivational potential that had emerged by 2018.

With the developmen t of electronic literacy and the dominance of printed text over handwritten text, the need to know the rules of word division at the end of a line is decreasing. However, it is inevitably actualized when writing school written assignments. In this paper, therefore, we bring an excerpt from a broader study dealing with the orthographic norm in the written assignments of high school students of different educational profiles and directions in the Republic of Serbia. The goal is to determine the orthographic characteristics of more than 3 000 written assignments from the subject the Serbian Language and Lterature in a separate spelling area - Dividing words at the end of the line. We also pay attention to determining the representation and frequency of errors according to the age of the students, the school they attended and the assessment of the written task. The research corpus was examined by a descriptive and analytical method. The results of the research showed that the dominant mistake of the high school students was in cases when the consonant is in a position between two vowels at the end of the line, and they often avoid the division whatsoever. The rules of word division at the end of the line are the least followed by the students of the technical high school, while the weakest achievements in this spelling area were shown by both first-year pupils and high school graduates. The grades that students receive on written assignments are in line with the representation of errors in them. The current findings confirm the primary hypothesis that more attention should be paid to the issue of following the orthographic norm in high school teaching practice when it comes to word division at the end of a line. In the final part, the paper is enriched with reflections on the possibilities of improving the teaching practice in secondary schools, as well as the orthographic literature in order to change the current situation when it comes to the examined area of orthography. social status ,timss ,achievement ,primary school teacher ,teaching ,Education - Abstract
Starting from the fact that there is no consensus on the way in which school factors mediate the influence of social status on achievement, we wanted to examine how teaching practices affect the relationship between social status and student achievement. More precisely, we tried to determine whether the intensity of the correlation between social status and student achievement on the TIMSS test differs among students whose teachers use different ways of teaching (practices that are more in line with transmissive teaching or practices more in line with engaging teaching). To answer this question, we used the data collected within the TIMSS 2015 research conducted in Serbia, which included 160 schools, 192 primary school teachers, and 4036 students. The collected data were analyzed using factor analysis of variance and correlation analysis. The results showed that (1) there is a moderate positive correlation between social status and student achievement, (2) that there is no correlation between teaching practices and student achievement, and that (3) teaching methods mediate the relationship between social status and achievement. The mediating role of teaching approaches is reflected in the fact that the stronger intensity of the correlation between social status and achievement is, the teaching itself tends to be more transmissive and less engaging. The obtained findings suggest that teaching approaches in the classroom can alleviate social inequality, and that their concept has to be as much as possible in accordance with the principles of engaging teaching.

The problem of individual achievements in philosophical and psychological discourse is analyzed. It is noted that the issue of individual achievements is studied by philosophers of different directions within the limits of global problems of mankind. It is revealed that philosophers understand achievements simultaneously as the process of personality’s improving of himself, his actions, carried out in this process. Despite the differences in the views, philosophers determine the personality’s aspiration to achieve as his internal need. Achievements (like actions) are characterized as a means of self-expression and self-realization of the personality that he carries, based on his convictions and accumulated experience. Marking the way of perfection through achievement as necessary but complex way, philosophers argue that the personality’s desire for achievement is realized only under certain conditions. Different approaches to the definition of the essence of personality’s achievements in psychology are considered. The concepts on «the personality’s achievement in activity» and his «personal achievements» are revealed. The essential characteristics of personality’s achievements are presented; the basis of human desire for achievements – natural and social aspects; conditions that affect the personality’s aspirations to achieve are also presented. It is indicated that the personality’s aspiration to achievements and the process of transforming achievements into personal ones is necessarily accompanied with the estimation process. The assessment of achievements is carried out both by the personality and by the people around.

In this paper, we discovered that a society which consumes only, is in need of safety, tolerant to corruption, unconcerned about knowledge, family and work, not attentious to spiritual values is usually subject to regress rather than progress. While a society witch strive for such spiritual values as creativity, family happiness, honest worker, profound knowledge, humanity, fairness and courtesy, etc. is always progressive but not regressive. Youth values are analyzed according to their age groups. Having analyzed the results of the survey, the researchers found out that there is an unbalance in values among the youth. They tried to clarify the unbalance between terminal values and instrumental values. The researchers comment that inharmoniousness of values nowadays is not because the youth have no values at all but they do not value their values. There is no individual without values, but it is possible that individuals weaken their values and degrade themselves. We try to prove the necessity of establishing national model of educating young generation in this work. Except for family education given by parents, a set of mechanism of methods, instructions (books, audio, video etc.) should be prepared, which enables children to be competitive, to know the right and the wrong, to be aware of history, religion, traditions, language and mentality.

Introduction. The main motives of human behavior are formed at the primary school age. Several factors play a determining role in children’s development: up-bringing in the family, style of teaching at school, quality of popular literature and other sources of information, and, in particular, school textbooks. The special importance is given to the content quality of school textbooks. The influence of school textbooks is determined by the fact that school children should necessarily get familiar with the printed materials, resulting, as a consequence, in accepting the patterns of social interaction and motive-codes introduced there. Due to high constructivist potential of school textbooks, it seems necessary to carry out content analysis of textbooks’ for the purpose of identifying the influence on certain motive trends formation in schoolchildren. The aim of the publication is to present the methodology of motivational analysis of school textbooks on literature and the results of its approbation when studying the motivational content of Ukrainian textbooks for primary school. Methodology and research methods . The research methodology is based on comparative, socio-constructivist, sociocultural and system-activity approaches to implementation of educational process and preparation of didactic materials. Scientific methods involve: analysis and synthesis of the content of sociological, socio-psychological, pedagogical and methodical literature; content analysis of educational texts. Results and scientific novelty . The author’s methodology of motivational content analysis of primary school textbooks on literature developed in the context of D. McClelland’s theory is described. As the main categories of motivational content analysis of texts, the motives of behavior introduced by D. McClelland (achievements, affiliation, positive and negative power, avoidance of failure) as well as the motives of self-expression and refusal of affiliation have been used. As a result of the analysis of Ukrainian textbooks on literature for the 2nd–5th forms, it has been revealed that the affiliation motive occurred to be the dominant one, which has a positive motivational tendency. Among negative motivational tendencies have been discovered: low level of representation of motives of achievement and self-expression; a relatively high frequency of using negative motive of power (numerous examples of manipulating people for own self-affirmation, authoritarianism of literature characters, use weakness of subordinates, etc.) and the motive of failure avoidance (the person's inability/unwillingness to work hard self-removal under difficulties). It has been concluded that high level of negative motives in primary school textbooks could indirectly influence the formation of passive life attitudes of primary school children. Practical significance . The proposed author's methodology might be useful for the organization of comparative intercountry studies on identification of specific differences in training of children in different countries. The results of the research could also serve as one of the strongest justifications for the need to update and reform the system of elementary school education.

The present paper considers the last philosophical investigations and achievements in Bulgaria in the field of applied ontologies. It begins with a general review of the essence of ontology as a philosophical discipline and its close relationship with human knowledge as well as with the function of ontology as technology for the systematization of knowledge. Next the new arguments are considered in favour of the usefulness of process ontology as a general ontological framework, especially the basic statements of the theory of general processes, and the relationship of process ontology with the hierarchical levels of reality. It is paid a special attention on the substantiation and description of the differences between process and event in philosophical literature in the framework of contemporary process ontology. Finally, possible application is considered of process ontologies for the investigation and achievement of new knowledge with the help, first, of a formal-ontological model of the theory of general processes using an example of mereological formalization of dynamic (process) ontology, and second, of a process ontological approach to the investigation of the so-called anticipatory systems. Introduction. The problems of assessment of student achievements as an indicator of the quality of knowledge and skills acquired by them are constantly in the focus of the pedagogical community and scientists involved in the development of education. Currently, the question of the objective measurement of learning outcomes is especially relevant because the priority task of education is the development of the student’s abilities to set independently learning goals, project ways of their implementation, monitor own actions, reflect own successes and failures and correct errors, in other words, the formation of the ability to learn independently. The traditional scoring system of grades is of little use to solve this problem since it is focused primarily on testing the reproductive level of mastering the training material and is aimed solely at external control, rather than improving the learning outcomes. In the new conditions, a new assessment system which includes self-control and self-assessment of students is required. The aim of the publication is to discuss the existing approaches to the formation of self-evaluation of students and the effective use of this pedagogical tool for monitoring and increasing the motivation to learning in the educational process. Methodology and research methods. The main research methods are theoretical analysis, synthesis, comparison and generalization of the content of scientific literature of the relevant subject matter. Results and scientific novelty. A new format for the learning outcomes assessment based on the collection of information on the achievements of the students from various sources and on the regular monitoring of their advancing progress along the individual educational trajectory is considered. Such a prolonged assessment is more informative than the usual marks which are set out in points, so it allows the teacher to promptly regulate the educational process and make timely correct decisions about its correction. In addition, it enables the student to participate in the procedures for assessing his/her own level of knowledge and develops his/her self-assessment skills. According to the initial targets, summative or forming types of self-assessment are identified. Its advantages as a mechanism for managing the educational process are shown: self-assessment contributes to the improvement of metacognitive abilities and the formation of critical (self-critical) thinking of students; activates their self-awareness; increases interest and motivation to learning; encourages to be independent subjects of the educational process, which is extremely important from the point of view of the strategy of lifelong learning.Practical significance. The materials of the article provide a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon of students’ self-assessment as an obligatory element of the new educational paradigm, which has just begun to be introduced into everyday pedagogical practice.

The article views the content of a person’s potential, its reserves and capabilities for personal growth as the main condition of attaining success in life. The authors have analyzed various definitions of the notion of success from psychological, pedagogical, and social points of view. There has been shown the role of personality growth connected with the disclosure of a person’s wholesome potential, their development and self-development. The methodological peculiarity of such method is a personality’s purposeful, permanent work on itself directed at its harmonic development, disclosure of its creative potential, and successful interaction with other people. There has been considered the role of self-consciousness of a personality’s development and self-development, as well as self-evaluation, self-assurance, and activeness. A person’s activeness is determined primarily by the specifics of their inner state at the moment of action, as well as by the presence of aim and intense activity to attain it. This is connected with efficient aimformation and constructive choice of ways and techniques to achieve the aims set, as well as with development of responsibility for the obtained results. It has been shown that activeness depends on thinking. Recommendations are provided as to the management of the way of thinking. And at the head is put the principle of detection and involvement of previously unused resources. To do this, it is necessary to master technical means and skills of a personality’s self-perfection. A low education system cannot provide for solving the mentioned tasks without the need in personal development and self-development deeply realized by a person themselves, without their attitude at solving them and psychological readiness for additional great efforts and purposefulness directed at self-realization of their potential.

- Abstract
The purpose of this study was to comparatively analyze the influence of family factors on social and psychological adaptation and achievement motivation in pupils from general education schools and in their coevals from vocational educational schools (VES). An experimental study was conducted in 10th-form pupils from a number of Moscow schools and persons of the same age who were one-year course pupils from a Moscow VES. A total of 242 pupils, including 130 schoolchildren and 112 one-year course pupils from the VES, were examined. The social and psychological adaptation questionnaire developed by K. Rodgers and R. Diamond was used to estimate achievement motivation by the Mehrabian test. The performed study confirmed the negative impact of poor family relations on pupils' sociological and psychological adaptation independently of the type of a general educational establishment. The high maternal educational level had a good effect on the adaptability of schoolchildren, that of boys in particular, whereas the paternal educational status is of the same value to VES pupils. Family relations and maternal and paternal education levels significantly affect the formation of achievement motive in pupils and their social and psychological adaptation as a whole.

- Abstract
Relationships between creative abilities and indices of selective attention were studied in lateralized serial Stroop Test presented in two conditions: color and word integrated or separated in a stimulus. The study enrolled 69 male and female subjects who were divided into high- and low-creative achievement groups by mean split of the originality score in figural tasks of Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking. It was found that features of hemispheric organization of selective attention assessed by the difference in reaction time to incongruent and a congruent color-word stimuli pairs individually administered in the right and left visual hemifields were differently correlated with creative abilities of men and women. High creativity of men was associated with lower attention-related selective processes in the right hemisphere and inversion of hemispheric asymmetry (as compared to low-creative men). There was no difference in these parameters between high- and low-creative women. Independently of gender, hemispheric asymmetry of selective attention indices reversed after transition from integrated to spatially separated presentation of color and word, which provided evidence for the use of flexible strategies.
