The paper presents studies on the optimization of the process of applying coatings from cermet powders with different solid phase contents by plasma spraying in air to restore and harden parts of machines and mechanisms operating under adverse conditions. Such conditions are usually created in heavily loaded tribojoints when the mechanisms operate at a low speed of relative movement of surfaces during friction. At the same time, the destruction of the working surfaces is mainly due to the process of microcontact setting and subsequent detachment of the formed particles at their contact points. The application of special protective coatings with the required properties is possible with the manufacture of high-quality starting powder materials and optimization of the technology for their application. Such powders and powder compositions can be obtained by the method of agglomeration of a fine powder mixture with its subsequent high-temperature sintering. To identify the hardening mechanism of composite coatings made of cermet by gas-thermal spraying, important stages are the optimization of the deposition process parameters and the study of the properties of plasma coatings obtained in this case. When optimizing the technological parameters of plasma spraying of coatings, the utilization rate of the sprayed powder material has been taken into account as the main indicator of the process efficiency, the structure of the obtained layers, and the morphology of individual particles deposited on the polished surface. The paper provides data on the structural elements of sprayed materials for wear-resistant coatings obtained by plasma spraying at optimal conditions. Taking into account the processes that occur during the wear of tribological conjugations, the data indicate the existing prerequisites for the wear resistance of the studied composite coatings made of metal ceramics. Special wear-resistant coatings made of materials with a soft matrix hardened by solid inclusions Al2O3–TiO2–Ni–Cr–Al–Y are widely used in various industries. Based on the detailed analysis of the features of cermet plasma coatings, it can be stated that such powder compositions (complex oxides-metal component) are often used as wear-resistant plasma coatings. The research results can be taken into account in cases of application of wear-resistant plasma coatings made of metal-ceramics and compositions based on them, containing solid phases in the form of oxides, as well as the manufacture of a whole range of parts operating under conditions of intense wear.

The paper describes a technique for assessing the thermally stressed state of a concrete massif of a foundation slab made of a self-compacting concrete mixture. The proposed method consists in a preliminary calculation of temperature fields in hardening concrete. The objects of research have been self-compacting concrete mix and structural concrete in the structure mass. The choice of materials for the preparation of a concrete mixture is given and substantiated. The composition of self-compacting concrete has been used to assess the thermally stressed state. A binder with a reduced exotherm has been used in order to reduce the self-heating of concrete. Studies have been carried out to assess the specific heat release of the recommended cement depending on the initial water-cement ratio. The effect of a chemical additive on the rate and magnitude of the specific heat release of cement has been studied. The paper presents the main theoretical provisions and an algorithm for calculating the thermal stress state of a concrete massif. The finite difference method has been used to calculate the expected temperatures and their distribution in the structure mass, and the temperature stresses in the sections of the concrete mass have been calculated to assess the thermally stressed state. The performed calculations of the temperature fields have made it possible to estimate the maximum possible temperatures and temperature differences over the sections of the concrete massif depending on the initial temperature of the concrete mixture and the average daily temperature of the outside air. Analysis of the temperature distribution has revealed the most dangerous sections of the concrete mass. An assessment of the thermal stress state of the concrete mass has been made on the basis of the results pertaining to calculation of temperature fields. The calculation of temperature stresses in the most dangerous sections of the concrete massif has been performed. It is shown that the calculated value of the temperature stress can serve as a characteristic of the thermally stressed state of the concrete mass. The formation of temperature cracks in a concrete mass is possible when the calculated value of the temperature stress exceeds the actual tensile strength of concrete. Comparison of the calculated and actual values of temperatures in the sections of the foundation slab has made it possible to conclude that the calculations of the temperature fields and, as a consequence, possible temperature deformations are correct.

Studies on the influence of applying various technologies for combustion knock reduction have been presented in the paper. Among others, investigation concerning the following: over-expanded cycle, variable valve timing, internal and exhaust gas recirculation, leaning the combustible mixture and cooling the in-cylinder charge were of the interest. The research works were focused on impact of these technologies on both knock intensity reduction, and engine performance and toxic emissions. Results presented in the paper were coming from experimental investigation based on in-cylinder combustion pressure data acquisition. Additionally, knock intensity calculation methods were discussed. They are based on incylinder combustion pressure pulsations. Combustion knock intensity expressed by the maximum peak of the incylinder pressure pulsations shows a strong negative correlation with both the EGR ratio and relative equivalence ratio – lambda. With respect to a catalytic converter installed on the exhaust pipe line, applying EGR appears as better solution for knock reduction then leaning the combustible mixture because the catalytic converter needs stoichiometric mixture for effective NO x reduction. Furthermore, application of the over-expanded cycle to the hydrogen or coke gas fueled IC engine significantly reduces intensity of potential knock by 50 % in comparison to Otto cycle for all loads. Additionally, over-expanded cycle contributes to increase in engine thermal efficiency. Summing up, all the presented measures and technologies can be successfully implemented into practice in stationary engines as well as in traction engines, both of them working on either natural gas or gaseous renewable fuels.

An experimental assessment has been made of the influence of electro-erosive modification modes for worn working surface of an cutter on the restoration of its cutting ability. The paper provides basic information on dental cutters. The provisions of the experimental research methodology are described, including a description of a device for modifying the worn surface of a dental cutter and a device for determining its cutting ability. Experimental data are presented and analyzed that reflect an effect on restoration of a cutting ability of a worn surface of a dental cutter, voltage of a storage capacitor and number of holes applied to it during its modification. Rational modes of modifying a worn-out surface of a dental mill that provide the greatest recovery of its cutting ability have been determined in the paper. It has been shown that with increasing voltage, the energy of the electric discharge acting on the treated surface increases, which leads to the formation of a single hole of a larger size on it, including metal flows along its edge that extend beyond the initial contour of the worn cutter teeth. These metal flows on the modified surface of the cutter play the role of peculiar cutting and deforming elements. It has been revealed that in the process of modifying the worn surface of the cutter, it is necessary to ensure that there is no overlap of the holes formed on it, i.e. the distance between the centers of adjacent holes should be greater than or equal to the size of metal deposits at their edges. In this case, the metal flows retain their original shape and have the highest height at these pulse parameters, which ensures a higher cutting ability of the modified cutter surface than when the holes are overlapped.

Waste of combined heat and power plants represents a certain danger to the environment, and hence the economic problems. However such waste contains substances that are advisable to use for production of construction and finishing materials. Technogenic products of water treatment from the Yuzhnaya combined heat and power plant (sludges of chemical water treatment – code 8410500) are a calcite mixture containing more than 64 wt. % calcite. The mineralogical composition of inorganic waste has been determined while using X-ray and IR-spectral researches. Mechanical activation of calcite inorganic wastes leads to grinding of calcite and a decrease in the amount of adsorbed water, which affects the increase in the content of silica frame structures, the reactivity of which directly depends on their quantity. Changes in the structure of silicon dioxide during mechanical activation are established according to IR studies. The results of X-ray and IR studies of the Zapolie deposit clay used in ceramic brick production technology make it possible to attribute it to raw materials with high reactivity. An experimental batch of ceramic bricks has been produced at JSC “Obolsky Ceramic Plant” with addition of calcite inorganic waste from combined heat and power plants. An X-ray diffraction analysis of samples of the obtained bricks having standard composition and with addition of waste has been carried out. The influence of calcite inorganic waste content in the feedstock on the process of ceramic brick structure formation has been stu-died in the paper. Addition of chemical water treatment waste containing calcium carbonate up to 15 wt. % to the Zapolye clay mixture helps to reduce a firing temperature and an appearance of the melt. This leads to crystallization processes of solid minerals from the melt and an increase in the amount of glass phase which contributes to improvement of strength properties in ceramic bricks. The possibility of using inorganic waste (sludges of chemical water treatment – code 8410500) of combined heat and power plants as a component of emaciated additives in clay raw materials in the process of ceramic brick production has been established in the paper.

Investigations have been carried out in respect of structural steel and titanium alloy fatigue at various cyclic loading frequencies and these investigations have made it possible to reveal regularities in changes of parameters pertaining to fatigue resistance and stability behaviour of the tested materials. A change in cyclic loading frequency affects duration of a single (during one cycle) stay of the material in the loaded state and it has an impact on its durability. In addition, with an increase in frequency of load cycles, deformation rate becomes higher, and stress build-up time is decreasing, while distortion of a crystal lattice is increasing due to reduction of time for development of a weakening process. This process is accompanied by an increase in intensity of grain crushing into fragments and blocks, and their disorientation. Tests on cyclic strength of the studied material samples have been carried out at various frequencies and at a room temperature according to the following loading schemes: cantilever cyclic transverse bending of a flat sample; cantilever bending with rotation of a cylindrical sample; axial tension on a pulsating cycle. Quantitative estimates of a fatigue resistance index in the form of slope tangent in a left branch of the fatigue curve to a cycle axis have been used in order to analyze and evaluate performance and stability of the tested materials. Methods for mathematical statistics have been applied to process the obtained results. Graphic dependences of fatigue curves have been plotted in logarithmic coordinates that allowed to obtain straightening of approximating lines for experimental data. The investigations have revealed that loading frequency has an ambiguous effect on fatigue resistance due to some differences in materials in respect of their reaction to changes in a load spectrum within different areas of the fatigue process, but at the same time it has been found that an increase in fatigue strength leads to a slope decrease in the fatigue curve regardless of a decrease or an increase in a load frequency. The paper proposes a new approach to assess a cyclic strength and durability of materials, and it comprises a system of parameters including a relative coefficient of limited endurance, a correlation coefficient and a slope tangent of the fatigue curve. Behavior dynamics for real machine parts and structures made of these alloys under operating conditions has been indicated in the paper.

A great attention has been recently paid to development of ultrasound technologies for treatment of blood vessels throughout the world. Authors of the paper have developed a new effective treatment method and ultrasound equipment that allow to carry out destruction of intravascular formations with simultaneous increase in elasticity of a vascular wall together with cardiologists from Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education and Republican Scientific and Practical Center “Cardiology”. Advantages of the method are absence of necessity in surgical intervention, low probability of complications, low cost of treatment. The main component of the developed ultrasonic equipment is a tube-type stepped concentrator-waveguide having a spherical tip at a distal end with a single axial hole of 0.5 mm-diameter and three radial holes of 0.3 mmdiameter located at an angle of 120° relative to each other. The main effect for application of the concentratorwaveguide is achieved by ultrasonic vibromechanical action of a spherical tip on intravascular formation with subsequent removal of destruction products by their aspiration from a vascular bed. An additional effect is provided due to cavitation action on vascular formation and vessel walls by flow of fluid supplied via an internal cavity of the stepped concentratorwaveguide through the holes in the spherical tip. This contributes to a significant improvement in elastic properties of a vascular wall in atherosclerosis and diabetes. It is necessary to ensure high accuracy and quality of surfaces for the formed microholes in order to achieve maximum efficiency of the cavitation jet impact on intravascular formations and on the vascular wall. According to the analysis results on specific features of existing methods for small-diameter hole shaping, an electrochemical hole cutting method has been proposed which allows to obtain accurate micro-holes with a diameter of 0.3 mm and high surface quality in parts of small cross section and rigidity. The paper presents results of study on effect of electrochemical holes cutting parameters (voltage, concentration and consumption of electrolyte) on size and shape of the formed microholes. Main modes of electrochemical holes cutting process have been developed which allow to form micro-holes in a spherical tip of a tubular concentrator-waveguide with required accuracy, dimensions and shape.

The paper presents a complex of laboratory and theoretical studies of physical and mechanical properties in centrifuged concrete while using samples of sectoral cross-section which are cut in layers from a finished product. A post made of concrete having B40 grade for compression strength and manufactured while using centrifugation with the help of РТЦ-5 machine. Assessment of heterogeneity across section thickness has been carried out by visual determination of composition changes in cross section, determination of strength, density of the obtained concrete samples, and water content over cross section of concrete mix. According to the results of a visual study on composition of a concrete structure it has been revealed that 1/8 part of the structure (from an inner surface) does not have a large aggregate. Later, as it moves to periphery, there is an increase in coarse aggregate and a decrease in size and number of cells between grains of gravel. An analysis of experimental data has shown that properties of the centrifuged concrete in samples being sawn in layers change significantly: density of concrete in samples of an inner layer is lower by 8 % than in samples of an outer layer, and compressive strength of concrete – by 34 %, water content of concrete mixture of samples of the inner layer has turned out to be by 43 % higher than in samples of the outer layer. Approximating curves showing regularities of changes in density, concrete strength, water content of concrete mixture over thickness have been constructed in the paper. Linear and exponential equations have been obtained that describe changes in physical and mechanical properties of centrifuged concrete over section depending on structure properties as a whole, which, taking into account the obtained correction factors k1 and k2, can be used with an acceptable level of confidence in practical calculations of centrifuged concrete structures. Relationship between strength of centrifuged concrete varying over cross section and action of a centrifugal force of inertia has been revealed in the paper. An equation has been obtained that relates the strength of centrifuged concrete to its density. Analysis of the research results makes it possible to assert that the main source of loading perception in centrifuged concrete structures is outer layers.

However, the ECP in its classical form has a number of significant drawbacks. One of them is a dependence of treatment modes and electrolyte compositions on the processed material. In addition, aggressive expensive electrolytes that require special technologies for disposal are used for ECP. Electrolytes in ECP often require heating to a temperature of 60–90 °C. Processing at such temperatures causes significant harm to the environment and production personnel. To eliminate the existing disadvantages of the ECP and expand its technological capabilities, a processing method with application of pulsed unipolar and bipolar modes has been proposed. As a result, fundamentally new processes of pulse ECP with a pulse duration of 0.05–20.00 ms have been developed. They provide a reduction of energy costs for the process and high efficiency of polishing in comparison with traditional DC polishing. The rate of smoothing micro-roughness of the treated surface related to the total metal removal is significantly increased. The use of pulse modes in comparison with traditional ECP allows processing in universal electrolytes of simple compositions based on sulfuric and orthophosphoric acids without addition of chromium anhydride. Application of the developed pulse modes, which will provide at low metal removal a significant change in surface roughness, is the most appropriate for the ECP of precise parts, products or parts of small cross-section and rigidity, such as medical devices for minimally invasive surgery, precision engineering parts, etc. The paper presents results of a study for influence of pulsed unipolar and bipolar ECP modes on the surface quality of stainless steel specimens, as well as a comparative analysis of the efficiency of using pulsed ECP modes instead of DC polishing. The technological parameters of ECP using pulsed modes, providing the highest quality surface polishing with high efficiency of micro-roughness smoothing and low energy consumption have been established in the paper.

Thermo-technical installations consuming significant amounts of thermal energy are used in order to intensify precast and reinforced concrete production processes under industrial conditions. Despite significant progress in the study of concrete hardening in accelerated hydration devices, a prominent lack of reliable and cost-effective research and optimization methods of their operation is observed. The methods used in real production processes are mainly based on empirical dependences obtained for specific technological conditions. These methods can not always be applied for other modes and technologies. The present paper develops calculation methods based on fundamental laws that make it possible to obtain functions for evolution of concrete product hydration process. Methods of mathematical modeling permit to develop new ways directed on improvement of modes for heat treatment of concrete products and accelerated hydration technologies. The paper describes a mathematical model for calculating a hardening process of a concrete product that includes a transient three-dimensional heat conductivity equation, a function of internal heat release due to behavior of exothermic reactions of cement hydration and also a system of initial and boundary conditions. A numerical simulation for temperature and hydration coefficient of a concrete product having shape of a 0.1´0.1´0.1 m cube has been performed in the paper. Verification of the non-stationary mathematical model for calculating temperature fields and hydration degree while using experimental data on concrete product strength obtained under industrial conditions. Investigations on hydration degree function of time have shown that experimentally obtained values of compressive strength correlate with hydration coefficient and hydration rate functions of heat treatment time which are calculated on the basis of the proposed non-stationary mathematical model of concrete product hardening. Satisfactory agreement of experimental and calculated data confirms adequacy of the proposed non-stationary mathematical model for calculating temperature fields and hydration degree with accelerated heat treatment of concrete products.

The paper considers a mathematical model which is used to study a composite material similar in structure to asphalt concrete and it takes into account presence of solid particles of different sizes and a soft and plastic binder. The twodimensional method of discrete elements has been applied to investigate destruction of asphalt-concrete samples under uniaxial compression, tension during splitting and compression by the Marshall method. The numerical model takes into account presence of large particles of rubble, asphalt mastic filling rubble pores and sticky (capable of recovering after rupture) communication between rubble particles. The force interaction between various components of the asphalt concrete has been described with the help of elastic repulsion between rubble particles, friction force and force responsible for sticking of particles due to presence of a binder. This model gives a correct fracture pattern for uniaxial compression, stretching during splitting and compression according to the Marshall method and this pattern coincides with the real experiment. It is the correct picture of destruction for three different schemes of material loading which makes it possible to assess the adequacy of the mathematical model which has been used. Basic physico mechanical characteristics of the binder which determine strength and deformability of asphalt concrete have been established in the paper. It has been shown that for an adequate description of physico mechanical characteristics for asphalt concrete it is necessary to study and measure properties of an asphalt binder that is a mixture of bitumen and fine mineral filler which determines parameters of interaction between rubble particles. The numerical experiments serve as a basis and make it possible to propose new laboratory methods for testing a mixture of stone materials and organic binders which are much simpler and, therefore, cheaper than standard tests on asphalt concrete. In addition these tests will more accurately predict behavior of asphalt concrete in real conditions.

The paper is devoted to study of a possibility to manufacture fluoroplastic products while using method of cold deformation of pressed blanks and research of peculiar features in mechanical behavior of fluoroplastic which are revealed during deformation that affects quality and accuracy of the manufactured parts. Manufacturing technique of fluoroplastic sealing rings which are obtained while using method of coiling a band blank on a cylindrical mandrel with further endurance in a wound state and subsequent cutting of a spiral on rings has been considered in the paper. An important stage in the development of the technological process is a calculation and a design of a tool (mandrel caliber) that ensure obtaining of ring products with the required size and shape. Deformation behavior of fluoroplastic under conditions of force action is significantly different from the behavior of the known classical materials and it has a number of specific features and manifestations. Therefore the problem for creation of a calculation methodology for tool development looks as a complicated one and it requires a justified approach while selecting a mechanical model of polymer. Considering the fact that fluoroplastic has a structure with a high degree of crystallinity, a mechanism and sequence of deformations in it due to load are largely similar to the behavior of metals and other low-molecular materials. It allows to use methods and approaches adopted in the mechanics of solids for a calculation of fluoroplastic products however it is necessary to take into account the fact that deformation processes in polymers proceed in time and have a different nature of elastic and residual deformations. When bending the fluoroplastic band in case of winding it on the mandrel residual deformations which provide the required size and shape play the most significant role. However elastic deformations which cause springing and change of size in a finished product after removal of loading are also important. It has been proved that an elastic zone of finite width which has a certain influence on accuracy of manufactured products with due account of all accumulated elastic deformations will be present in the field of a neutral layer even at high degrees of deformation. In this case, fluoroplastic is a multi-modulus material having elasticity which at stretching is significantly higher than in compression, and therefore elastic recovery is more associated with the area of stretched fibers. The authors have developed a methodology for calculation of the tool for obtaining rings of the required size on the basis of the analysis pertaining to deformation behavior of the fluoroplastic while taking into account specificity of its mechanical properties. The proposed methodology with a sufficient degree of accuracy is consistent with the results of experimental studies.

Ion-plasma nitriding in glow discharge is a widely used method of surface hardening in the industrialized countries of the world and it is the most modern and technological type of surface hardening of machine parts, molds, dies and cutting tools. However there is no detailed review in the literature of technical characteristics and operation of a gas-vacuum part in ion nitriding units and it does not allow estimating electric power consumption for operation of a gas-vacuum system while assessing efficiency of the given equipment. The paper considers problems pertaining to relationship of gas-dynamic parameters of the nitriding process (pressure and gas flow rate) and energy characteristics of the glow discharge (current density, discharge voltage) during ion nitriding at industrial plants and their impact on the process. Calculation-practical modeling of a vacuum system for an ion nitriding installation shows that it is advisable to use vacuum units which represent consistently connected forevacuum and two-rotor pumps in order to ensure independent control of a pumping speed and flow rate of the gas mixture. Such approach makes it possible to carry out nitriding processes in a wide range of pressures with the possibility to provide high plasma gas rates at a low pressure, in particular, when processing large areas. The paper has revealed temperature interrelations, chamber pressure and glow discharge current density that ensure its existence in the abnormal form. It has been shown that at lower operational pressure during the process, higher degree of discharge abnormality can be provided at uniform temperature of the batch. Due to this it is possible to attain higher temperature similarity which ensures uniformity of a nitrided layer on all parts of the batch.

The paper presents results of investigations on the dispersion (grinding) process in a ball mill and it also shows an effect of dispersed granitic rock (granite screenings of RUPP “Granit”, Brest region) used as a mineral additive on cement properties, hardening kinetics and cement stone strength, morphology of cement hydration products in the presence of the granitic rock. Complex studies including data of X-ray phase and derivatographic analyses have revealed that granitic rock material does not change morphology of new formations these are reaction products obtained due to reaction of binder clinker portion with water. They are identical to those that are formed due to reactions of a no-dosage (clean-bite) binder with it. At the same time it has been established that when 10–20 % of granite screening grinded up to Sud ~ 3000 cm2/g (0.3 m2/g) have been added to cement strength of cement stone is increased by 20–25 %, and the amount of chemically bound water in clinker component of the binder is increased by 10–15 %. The paper has substantiated a hypothesis of the “crystallization centers” effect which is revealed by fractions of grinded screening £0.3 μm (£3000 Å). The fractions constitute an amount of ~15 % of the screening mass. This hypothesis has been proved by the above-mentioned data on the increase in cement stone strength and amount of chemically bound water in their presence when samples are hardened in normal-humid conditions, in water and after steaming. There is also an obvious increase in strength of cement stone on a binder with this additive (in 2–2.5 times in 1–3 days of hardening) under conditions of “inhibition” in cement hydration reactions due to introduction of a chemical additive that is lignosulphonate technical additive in the cement paste with enhanced dosage (0.3 % of the cement mass).

Scientific hypothesis on moistening shrinkage mechanism for cement stone and concrete has been assumed as a basis for the present paper. Physical ideas on a mechanism for cracks volume increment in a concrete model presented as two-level structure have been accepted as a theoretical basis for a calculation method of crack resistance during capillary shrinkage. These ideas are the following: a matrix of hardening cement stone with inclusions and emptiness of various forms (cracks) as result of influences that change an intense deformed state in a point and a volume. The following assumptions have been accepted while making a theoretical justification for a calculation method of shrinkable concrete crack resistance. Following this methodology approaches of fracture mechanics according to a generalized criterion have been applied in the paper. Concrete is considered as an elastic quasi-homogeneous two-component medium which consists of the following parts:a) constructive part: a matrix – a cement stone with structural elements of crushed stone, sand; b) destructive part: emptiness – capillaries cracks and pores (cavities with initial cracks in walls). Emptiness in a matrix and contact zones are presented by a coordinated five-level system in the form and sizes which are multiple to a diameter due to impacts while reaching critical sizes. These critical sizes make it possible to pass from one level into another one according to the following scheme: size stabilization – accumulation delocalization – critical concentration in single volume – transition to the following level. Process of cracks formation and their growth are considered as a result of non-power influences on the basis of crack theory principles from a condition that fields of deformation and tension creating schemes of a normal separation and shift occur in the top part of each crack at its level in the initial concrete volume. Ксij(t) parameter as algebraic amount of critical values Kij in the whole system of all levels of cracks filling canonical volume up to critical concentration has been accepted as a generalized constant of property for concrete crack resistance in time, its resistance to formation, accumulation in volumes of micro-cracks and formation of trunk cracks with critical values. External temperature, moistening long influences create fields of tension in the top parts of cracks. Concrete destruction processes due to cracks are considered as generalized deformedintensed state in some initial volume having physical features which are inherent to a composite with strength and deformative properties. It is possible to realize analytical calculations for assessment of tension and crack resistance of concrete at early age on the basis of a generalized criterion in terms of stress intensity factor due to modern experimental data on capillary pressure value (70 kPa in 180 min after concrete placing). The developed algorithm of calculation allows to consider factors influencing on capillary pressure: type of cement, modifiers and mineral additives, concrete curing conditions.

The paper is devoted to a physical modeling of the process pertaining to interaction of the machined material with metal deposits along a hole edge which are obtained on a smooth tool surface due to its electro-erosion modification. A technique for obtaining single holes on a cutting tool (strip) is given in the paper. The paper describes main geometric elements which have obtained due to the action of a single electric discharge. Geometric parameters of a single hole initiated on a working strip surface in the course of this effect have been given in the paper. The paper provides a justification and description of a tape tool prototype used in the investigations brass band strips, on which a washer with different rounding radius of an outer edge is fixed. The prototype makes it possible to simulate metal deposits on the modified working surface of the strips. The paper presents methodology for carrying out experiments on investigations for interaction of the created strip prototype with a processed material, including a description of a device for studying the process of washer interaction with the samples from paraffin and gypsum. Photographs are given that allow to visualize a destruction process of samples which is caused by a washer (model of metal deposits). The paper shows stages of sample fracture when using washers with different rounding radius and describes nature of the destruction for various sample materials. The results of the conducted studies reflecting an influence of the shape of an outer washer edge, in particular a radius of its rounding, on the course of characteristic stages in the process of destruction of samples from paraffin and gypsum are presented and discussed in the paper. It has been experimentally confirmed that metal deposits which are formed at the hole edge and extend beyond an initial surface contour, represent cutting-deforming elements with a capability to destroy material which ranks below in hardness to metal of the deposits.

The paper considers improvement of physic-mechanical and operational properties of adhesive coatings after laser infusion with additional alloying В4С, ТаВ and МоВ. Influence of the laser infusion with additional alloying on structure, microhardness and wear-resistance of adhesive coatings of the Fe–Cr–B –Si system has been studied in the paper. While increasing a laser beam velocity microstructure is changed from equilibrium to quasi-eutectic. Presence of molybdenum boride and tantalum increases sensitivity of the coating to specific features of laser remelting. In both cases heat exchange conditions have been changed, a number of iron and chromium borides has been increased and due to this molybdenum and tantalum have been partially passing to free state that contributes to a disintegration of structural components. While introducing solid particles B4C into a coating they are dissolved in an iron matrix while being heated by a laser beam and under cooling they are isolated in the form of separated Fe an Cr boride inclusions. Laser infusion and alloying increase coating wear-resistance. Load increase from 30 to 70 Н improves coating wear resistance averagely by 15–26 % and wear resistance of non-alloyed coatings is improved by 26–43 %. An increase of melting rate and laser spot diameter does not exert significant influence on wear but an increase in overlapping coefficient leads to reduction of coating wear. Presence of solid particles in a coating and an increase in rate of melting by laser beam reduce coating wear resistance. Such rather complicated dependence of coating wear rate on conditions of laser melting and wearing process is due to a complex of structural and phase transformations which have contributed to formation of secondary solid inclusions and increased microhardness.

Quality of surface cleaning against corrosion influences on efficiency in realization of a number of technological processes. While using bentonite clays in power fluid reverse-blast cleaning ensures formation of anticorrosion protective coating with light absorbing properties on the cleaned surface and prevents formation of the repeated corrosion. The paper presents results of the investigations pertaining to influence of reverse-blast cleaning parameters of steel sheets on quality of the cleaned surface prior to laser cutting. Processing conditions, applied compositions of power fluid and also properties of the protective film coatings on the cleaned surface have been given in the paper. The paper considers topography, morphology and chemical composition of the given coating while applying complex metal micrographic, X-ray diffraction and electronic and microscopic investigations. A complex of laser cutting (refer to gas lasers) with output continuous capacity of 2.5/4.0 kW has been applied for experimental works to evaluate influence of the formed surface quality on efficiency of laser cutting process. Specimens having dimension 120×120 mm, made of steel Ст3пс, with thickness from 3 to 10 mm have been prepared for the experiments. An analysis has shown that the application of reverse-blast cleaning ensures higher speed in laser cutting by a mean of 10–20 %. The investigations have made it possible to determine optimum cleaning modes: distance from a nozzle to the surface to be cleaned, jet velocity, pressure. It has been revealed that after drying of the specimens processed by power fluid based on water with concentrations of bentonite clay and calcined soda a protective film coating with thickness of some 5–7 µm has been formed on the whole cleaned specimen surfaces. Chemical base of the coating has been formed by the elements which are included in the composition of bentonite clay being the basic component of the power fluid.

The paper considers problems pertaining to higher durability and reliability of a cutting tool for cutting gastronomic products while using laser processing that leads to resistance increase of material operating surfaces against impact forces. Influence of laser fusion with additional doping on structure, microhardness, wear resistance for adhesive coatings of Fe–B–Cr–Si system has been studied in the paper. In order to solve a problem for selection of optimal qualitative and subsequently quantitative composition of a multi-component coating a mathematical modeling method using Scheffe’s simplex lattices has been used in the paper. Similar tendency for measuring micro-structure of all adhesive coatings fused by laser beams has been established in the paper. Increase in beam speed has caused the following microstructure changes: cast equilibrium, dendrite, supersaturated boride, carbide and boride. Response surface models have been found and they provide the possibility to assess influence quantity of laser processing parameters on microhardness of adhesive coatings obtained by laser doping and intensity of their wear under various conditions for all investigated compositions.It has been ascertained that there is no strict correlation between hardness and intensity of coating wear after laser doping used for adhesive coatings. This testifies to the fact that hardening has taken place not only due to an increase of carbide-boride phase, but also due to matrix hardening.In addition, a regression model for coating composition effect on tribological characteristics of the adhesive coatings has revealed that an optimal composition of a multicomponent coating ensuring maximum wear resistance of coatings constitutes B4C is 2/3 and 1/3 TaB. It has been determined that hardening of the adhesive coating after laser doping while using multicomponent coating occurs not only due to increase of carbide-boridnoy phase, but also due to matrix hardening.

The paper presents results of research for influence of plasma jet parameters (current, spraying distance, plasmasupporting nitrogen gas consumption), fractional composition of an initial powder and cooling degree by compressed air on characteristics of anti-meteorite coatings, subsequent processing modes by pulsed plasma. Properties of the obtained coatings and results of ballistic tests have been given in the paper. The proposed methodology has been based on complex metallographic, X-ray diffraction and electron microscopic investigations of anti-meteorite aluminum oxide coating. Optimization of air plasma spraying parameters for NiAl and Al 2 O 3 materials has been carried out in the paper. The spraying parameters optimization has been executed on the basis of obtaining maximum materials utilization factor. Surface treatment of model screen elements with a double-layer composite coating (adhesive metal NiAl layer and hard ceramic oxide Al 2 O 3 layer) has been fulfilled while using compression plasma stream. Nitrogen has been used as working gas. Composite hard ceramic oxide Al 2 O 3 coating is represented by porous structure consisting of 10–15 µm-size fused Al 2 O 3 particles. Metallic inclusions formed due to erosion of plasmatron electrodes have been observed in the space between the particles. Surface of bilayer composite coatings has been processed by a compression plasma stream and due to nonsteady processes of melting and recrystallization high strength polycrystalline layer has been formed on their surface. In this context, those areas of the polycrystalline layer which had metal inclusions have appeared to be painted in various colors depending on chemical composition of the inclusions.

The paper presents results of investigations on influence of domestic complex chemical additive containing structured carbon nanomaterial and characterized by combined (curing acceleration and plasticizing) effect on concrete curing kinetics in non warm-up version of monolithic concreting technology. Standardized and original methods have revealed experimentally regularities in increase of strength for heavy cement concrete under the influence of specific accelerating UKD-1 additive component and the additive itself according to its dosage (within the range of 0.5–2.0 % of cement mass). Growth rate dependences for the concrete with UKD-1 additive on basic technological factors: cement quality, water-cement ratio value, concrete composition and concrete mixture consistency, curing environment temperature and heat-insulating characteristics of shuttering blocks have been evaluated in the paper. Such approach has made it possible to substantiate rational modes and parameters of conditions for concrete curing with the UKD-1 additive in order to ensure strength (under compression) in the 50–100 % range of the required value at the project age of 28 days without energy consumption for acceleration of its curing.

The paper investigates a stress-strain state in a polycrystalline grain due to presence in its body of a single micro- twin in case of various grain boundary forms. A methodology for calculation of displacement and stress fields for the specified stress-strain state of a polygon-shaped grain has been developed in the paper. Nodal points in a polycrystalline grain that have a maximum stresses contributing to initiation of destruction have been revealed in the paper. The aim of this work has been to study the stress-strain state due to a single micro-twin in the polycrystalline grain and form of grain boundaries. The paper describes polycrystalline grains having a regular polygon shape and containing a single wedge twin in their body. Polycrystalline grain boundaries are presented as walls with complete dislocation. The investigated grains are located far from the surface of twinning material. The developed methodology for calculation of displacement and stresses created by wedge twin is based on the principle of superposition. Calculations on stress tensor components have been carried out for iron (Fe). The presented results of calculations for stress fields have indicated to validity of the used dislocation model. Twin and grain boundaries being stress concentrators are clearly visible on the obtained distributions of stress fields. Maximum normal stresses are observed on the twin boundaries; σ xy maximum shear stresses are located at nodal points of the twin; σ zy and σ xz shear stresses are maximum on the grain boundaries. The conducted investigations have resulted in study of the stress-strain state due to a single wedge-shaped micro-twin in the polycrystalline grain and form of the grain boundaries. Zones of stress concentration in the polycrystalline grain have been identified in the presence of residual mechanical wedge twin. A method for evaluation of the given state has been developed in the paper.

During operation, concrete and reinforced concrete structures are exposed to the aggressive environment of carbon dioxide. During the reconstruction and overhaul of the berthing facilities in the coastal zone of the seas of the Far East, a weak bond strength of the “old” carbonated and “new” repair concrete has been established in the paper. The reason that prevents reliable adhesion of concrete is the formation of fragile corrosion products in the pores and on the surface of “old” concrete. Accelerated tests of concrete carbonization from exposure to carbon dioxide have been carried out in the course of the study. The structure of the carbonized cement stone has been examined using a scanning electron microscope. The research results have made it possible to assess the structure of a “healthy” cement stone and affected by carbonization. The performed analysis of concrete carbonization process, including micrographs of the samples, has shown that under the action of carbon dioxide, the surface layer with a thickness of 4 mm and more undergoes structural restructuring. Fibrous formations are destroyed, and the carbonized volume is a heap of loosely bound loose new formations and films blocking the entrances to the capillary system of concrete. They are not a reliable basis for adhesion of “new” and “old” concrete and prevent the penetration of liquid containing cement dissolution products from “new” concrete into the capillaries of the healthy structure of the “old” concrete for their reliable connection.

The paper presents a study of the effect of adding Mo and MoS2 on the microstructure and properties of a powder coating based on austenitic steels. The coatings have been studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD), optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), a Vickers hardness tester, and abrasion wear resistance has been determined by the Pin on disk method. The results show that a coating that does not contain Mo and MoS2 consists of the phases g(Fe), M7(C, B)3 and (Fe, Cr)2B. The addition of Mo and MoS2 leads to the formation of phases M23(C, B)6, Mo2(B, C) and Fe3Mo3(C, B), where M = Fe, Cr, Mo. The main goal of these studies was to study characteristics of Mo and MoS2 distribution and the effect of their addition on the microstructure, hardness, and abrasion wear resistance of an alloy coating based on austenitic steels. Composite materials based on austenitic steels obtained by diffusion alloying (Aus0Mo), which has a nearly spherical shape with a diameter of 50–100 μm, have been used for deposition. 3–7 wt. % of Mo powder and 1.0–1.5 wt. % of MoS2 powder with a diameter less than 50 μm have been added in the powder of the composite material based on austenitic steels (Aus3Mo, Aus5Mo, Aus7Mo). Surfacing methods, including gas arc welding with a tungsten electrode, arc welding in shielding gas, plasma surfacing (PTA) and laser surfacing are widely used in industry to increase wear resistance of surfaces. The most important differences between these methods are deposition rate, applicability of materials, substrate dilution, microstructure and hardness stability after exposure to high temperatures, as well as manufacturing cost. Among the methods described above, plasma spraying followed by fusion is a good alternative to other surfacing processes. The coating should not be overheated until it is completely melted, since in this case the primary crystals of chromium carbides and borides pass into a liquid solution and upon subsequent crystallization, form a coarser structure, worsening the quality of the coating. This is precisely what does not occur during plasma spraying followed by reflow; in addition, the method is cheap, coatings are of high quality, competitive wear resistance and high stability of properties at high temperature.

Light self-destruction-degradation of the second type has been observed in samples of semiconductor lasers with electronic energy pumping with high optical homogeneity and good quality of surface treatment. In these samples, damage appeared in the form of cords perpendicular to the ends of the resonator. According to the current understanding of the passage of powerful light streams through various media, the emergence of narrow light channels is due to the phenomenon of self-focusing. It refers to the fundamental physical mechanisms of propagation of laser radiation and is caused by nonlinear phenomena arising in a medium under the influence of high-power laser radiation. The physical reason for self-focusing is an increase in the refractive index n in a strong light field. Thermal self-focusing is the most probable cause of radiation redistribution in the active region of the crystal. However, it is possible that in the initial stage of the appearance of light channels a certain role is played by the growth of the intensity of radiation in certain sections of the crystal because of the instability of generation or small fluctuations in the pump current density. Then the process acquires an avalanche character, since the localization of the ray in the channel increases the density of light radiation which can lead to overheating of the substance and the activation of the thermal self-focusing mechanism. The experiments performed in this paper have shown that optically homogeneous crystals possess maximum resistance to degradation processes. In them, the critical power of light destruction is determined by the self-focusing threshold of radiation in a material. Since the nonlinear addition to the refractive index Δn = n2E2 at the self-focusing threshold is determined by the change in the concentration of non-equilibrium carriers ΔN(E2), the value of the maximum fluctuation DΔNmax itself is proportional to the value of the non-equilibrium carrier concentration at the generation threshold ΔNpores and the relative excess of the generation threshold J = (j – jn)/jn. Thus, a low threshold concentration of non-equilibrium carriers is one of the conditions for increasing material resistance to degradation processes. In doped crystals ΔNpores is less than in pure materials. This, perhaps, explains the rather higher value of Pcritial in the optimally doped homogeneous n-GaAs. Smaller values of Pcritial in p-type samples doped with zinc can be associated not only with the inhomogeneity of these crystals, but also with large generation thresholds. In addition, the cross section for absorption of radiation by holes is about 3–4 times larger than by electrons, which can also reduce the self-destruction threshold of lasers. At Т = 300 K, the lasing thresholds are higher that naturally reduces the value of the self-focusing threshold.

The paper presents the technology of obtaining flat-conical lenses (axicons) by the method of free grinding a work-piece to a flat tool through a layer of abrasive suspension. For this, theoretical and experimental studies of the regularities of stock removal from the base of the cone and its lateral surface have been carried out. The processing modes have been identified that ensure both uniform operation of the flat surface of the part and enhanced removal of the allowance in the edge or central zone of this surface. During the study of the processing of the conical surface, the set-up parameters of the technological equipment have been established, at which there is a minimum deviation of the generatrix of the cone from straightness and maximum productivity of the process. The stages of processing conical lenses are proposed, which allow to assign the optimal sequence of operations in the manufacture of this type of parts from blanks of a cylindrical shape in cases where the ratio of the height of the cone to the diameter of its base H/d £ 0.5. The main stages of processing include: grinding of the bases of cylindrical blanks with maintaining their mutual parallelism with a given accuracy; polishing one of the cylinder bases to achieve the required roughness and deviation from non-flatness; fastening a cylindrical blank to an auxiliary plane-parallel glass plate using molecular cohesion forces; mechanical fastening of a cylindrical work-piece with a collet adapter mandrel for a plane-parallel glass plate; applying the nearest sphere to the second base of the cylindrical blank; drawing a conical surface on the spherical part of a plano-convex lens; grinding and polishing the conical surface to achieve the required roughness and straightness of the cone generatrix. The degree of efficiency of the setup parameters of the machine has been revealed depending on the technological heredity of the work-piece from the point of view of the distribution of the allowance to be removed over the machined surface.

Catastrophic degradation takes place in case of reaching critical values of laser radiation density power in semiconductor lasers with electronically pumped energy made from single crystals of some compounds. It has been accompanied by mechanical destruction of the surface at resonator ends, an irreversible decrease in radiation power and an increase in generation threshold. Moreover, during the catastrophic degradation of semiconductor lasers under the action of intrinsic radiation, significant changes in the crystal structure occur within the single crystal: dislocation density reaches a value more 1012–1015 cm–2. It has been shown that initial density of dislocations and critical power density of the intrinsic radiation are inversely proportional. Thus, the degradation process of semiconductor lasers is directly related to generation and multiplication of dislocations during laser operation. Mechanical destruction of a crystal lattice occurs at critical values of laser radiation power and dislocation density. To clarify the proposed mechanism for the degradation of semiconductor lasers, it is necessary to take into account an effect of dislocations on optical properties of semiconductors. Typically, this effect is considered as follows: dislocations cause an appearance of a local deformation field and, in addition, form space-charge regions that surround a dislocation core in the form of a charged tube. The paper proposes a model of the phenomenon under study: large stresses arise in the dislocation core, leading to a displacement of individual atoms and deformation of the crystal lattice. Lattice deformation in the dislocation core leads to a local change in the width of a forbidden band. This change value is about 10–2 eV for a screw dislocation and 10–1 eV for a boundary dislocation. The mechanism of this change is that aforementioned deformation leads to a multiple rupture of electronic bonds and an increase in the electron concentration in the dislocation core to approximately value 1018 cm–3. The developed analytical model of the degradation mechanism allows to perform selection of a semiconductor and estimation of a laser operating mode under conditions of increased radiation power.

The paper contains results of investigations on structure and tribotechnical properties of chromium coatings formed by a method of electrodeformation cladding with flexible tools (EDCFT). The purpose of these investigations is to assess prospects for application of the coatings as an alternative to galvanic chrome plating which is widely used in manufacturing hydraulic cylinder rods of metal-cutting machines. Rotary metal brushes with a wire pile made of 65Г-steel and 03Х17Н14М2-stainless steel have been used as a flexible tool. A compacted bar obtained by sintering a mixture of pure chromium powders and a nano-sized diamond-graphite blend UDDG has been employed as a donor material for EDCFT. According to results of the research it has been established that alloying elements of wire pile such as chromium and nickel are added to a coating composition while forming coatings a stainless steel brush. So in the case of using brushes with wire pile of 03X17H14M2-stainless steel the amount of chromium and nickel in a clad coating layer is 5.3 and 9.6 times higher in percentage, respectively, in comparison with the coating formed by a 65Г-steel brush that can contribute to improvement of coating corrosion resistance. At the same time, surface relief of the coating has a developed rough structure consisting of chromium microparticles having various size that are tightly packed and elongated in the direction of brush rotation and there are no flaws in the form of discontinuities and delaminations. Tribological tests have been performed under conditions of “boundary lubrication” on a rotary friction machine that implements friction of a rubber indenter on a flat surface of a rotating disk. According to data of the tribotechnical tests it has been ascertained that under conditions of “boundary friction” for such paired samples as “coated disc – rubber roller” chromium coatings formed by the EDCFT method, have the lowest values of a sliding friction coefficient (fтр = 0.023) which are 7.5 times lower than chromium coatings obtained by electroplating. At the same time the wear of rubber rollers in pairs with electroplated chromium coatings has turned out to be less than in pairs with the coating formed by the EDCFT method.

The paper shows that creation of materials with antibacterial and antifungal action presupposes an introduction of additives in them. One of the directions concerning fight against mold fungi is an inclusion of biocide additives having vegetable origin in structure of polymer materials used for manufacturing packing products. The main mission of anti-microbial additives is reduction of microbe amount in product mass and on its surface. Activity of anti-microbial compounds depends on the following parameters: concentration of active component, pH, temperature, polymer type, introduction method (with plasticizer or in melting state) and time period of their contact with polymer. In addition it is necessary to take into account such not unimportant factor as sensitivity of micro-organisms. Modern film polymer materials ensure only a certain level of product protection. They can not targetedly affect biochemical and microbiological changes in a packing product. It is necessary to develop new packing materials with selective permeability that create a barrier on the way of extremely intensive gas and moisture exchange, outside microflora flow, and prevent an evolution of undesired micro-organisms on packing products. Polymers have been selected as a basis for a bactericide packing material. Investigations have shown that composition including PEHP 98% (polyethylene of high pressure) + DGR (disproportionate gum rosin) + DETA (diethylenetriamine) has inhibited (hindered) sufficiently in a good way growth of mold fungi and PEHP composition with additives of tallow pitch and polyethylenepolyamine has demonstrated a rapid deterioration of strength characteristics and an increase in additive of the supposed mixture including pine oleoresin (POR) with DETA and DGR (with DETA more than 2%) hinders rapidly strength material characteristics.

The influence of high-speed particle fluxes on changes in the structure and properties of materials has been widely studied currently. The effect exerted by particles moving at very high speeds can have both negative (in spacecrafts) and positive character (dynamic processing of tool steels). Therefore a task for studying an effect of high-speed particle flows on structure change in tool steels and improving their performance properties has been set in the paper. The study has used an explosive method for creation of a high-speed flow of SiC + Ni and Al2O3 particles. Samples after dynamic alloying have been subjected to diffusion nitriding. Microstructure of specimens made of X12M, R18, R6M5K5steel has been studied using optical and electron metallography. Wear resistance of the samples has been also tested on a friction machine. Theoretical and experimental results on a complex effect of high-speed microparticle flows and nitriding on a structure and properties of tool steels have been obtained during the research. It has been established that dynamic alloying by particles leads to formation of a specific structure in a composite material reinforced with channels. Central fiber (channel) zone with powder particles residues is surrounded by areas of amorphous state which is succeeded by a zone with a nanocrystalline fragmented cellular structure. Then we observe a zone with a microcrystalline structure that transits to a zone with crystalline structure which is characteristic for a matrix material of structural steel. The obtained data can expand and complement some ideas about mechanisms for dynamic loading of solids and condensed matter, plastic deformation, physical mechanics of structurally inhomogeneous media at different levels, a number of effects arising from collision and ultra-deep penetration of microparticles into metals. It has been shown that wear resistance of high-speed steel subjected to dynamic alloying in the quenched state is increased by 1.2 times in comparison with wear resistance of steel alloyed in the annealing state.

The paper presents results of research aimed at developing a new semi-functional concrete additive that provides an increase in rate and level of its strength growth while reducing energy costs to accelerate hardening process, as a basis for reducing energy intensity in manufacturing of concrete and reinforced concrete products and structures. Experimentally a rational ratio of components for a polyfunctional additive has been found of mass cement: a superplasticizer based on polycarboxylate resins (for example, “Stachement 2000” or “Relamiks PC”) – 0.5 %, ultradispersed microsilica (SiO2) – 1.0 %, sodium sulfate (Na2SO4), hardening accelerator – 0.5 %, aluminum sulfate (Al2(SO4)3), sealing additive structure ‒ 0.25 %. The mentioned components ensure the largest increase in strength of cement stone and structural heavy concrete. Results of derivatographic and X-ray phase analyses have shown that strength growth is based on formation of a fine-crystalline form of low-base crystalline silicates of CSH-silicate group, which complements traditionally formed C2SH by the reaction of threeand two-calcium silicate cement with water, as well as it is based on an increase in the number of neoplasms due to the reaction of Ca(OH)2 with amorphous SiO2 and ettringite 3CaO × Al2O3 × 3CaSO4 × 32H2O, being formed due to reactions with cement aluminates these are accelerating-compacting additive components, that in total provides an increase in density and strength of cement stone. While having the case with concrete, the effect is complemented by hardening the zone of contact between aggregate surface and cement stone due to the reaction between Ca(OH)2 and SiO2. These effects have been confirmed by growth (up to 38 %) of water which is chemically bound with cement in presence of a multifunctional additive in samples of cement stone, which is characterized by the largest strength. While using standardized testing methods, effectiveness of a multifunctional additive has been experimentally confirmed and it has been expressed in growth of quality characteristics and properties of structural heavy concrete: compressive strength – up to 40–60 %, flexural strength – up to 15 %, reduction of shrinkage – up to 50 % and water absorption – by 1.5–2 times, increase in frost resistance from brand F250 to F500, water resistance – from W6–W8 to W20.

The paper substantiates scientific background for development of lubricant compositions used in moulds for concrete products with high-quality surface. It has been shown that consideration of interaction between air bubbles, lubricant and liquid phase of modified concrete is of great importance. A release agent must allow air to migrate to a certain extent and leave “formwork – concrete mix” interface. In this regard the lubricant must have low viscosity. In addition, the lubricant should give maximum hydrophobization to a mould and have minimal adhesion in respect of the concrete mix. Additives of hydrophobic substances in liquid lubricants significantly reduce surface porosity of products. Chemical plasticizing additives and, in particular, additives of polycarboxylate type substantially reduce surface tension of liquid sгж, thereby they significantly reduce work for fixing an air bubble on concrete surface and contribute to its ejection. In addition, adsorbed molecules of the chemical additives interfere with interaction of cement paste particles and mould surface. Polycarboxylate additive molecules diffuse from a diffuse layer of the concrete mix, fill capillaries in the lubricant film, reduce its viscosity, act as additives that regulate spreading of lubricant and facilitate removal of air bubbles in a surface layer. Experimental studies of the combined effect while using low viscosity grease based on vegetable oils and modifying additives have confirmed the above provisions. The polycarboxylate-based additive has made the greatest impact on reduction of concrete surface porosity and content of all types of pores in the concrete has been approximately at the same level.

The paper considers a technological process for production of sealing rings by winding a band work-piece on a cylindrical caliber mandrel with subsequent endurance under load and further cutting of a spiral in rings and also studies the possibility to obtain products while using a method for cold forming of a work-piece which excludes thermal stabilization operation. Taking into account the fact that fluorine plastic is a high-plastic material even at very low temperatures such technology looks quite real. Therefore winding of a band on a mandrel, endurance of a spiral work-piece without heating but under conditions of force action within the time which is necessary for completion of relaxation processes, and the subsequent cutting in rings will allow to obtain finished ring products of the required size. However fluoroplastic has specific mechanical properties and a number of specific features which are revealed during deformation process. Its deformation behavior considerably differs from behavior of low-molecular materials and therefore it requires a solid approach while using the existing theoretical base and developing calculation methodologies. While taking into consideration the fact that fluorine plastic is high density material and has structure with high degree of crystallinity, the mechanism of deformation behavior in it under conditions of a force field is mainly similar to metal behavior that allows to use methods and approaches for calculation of fluoroplastic products which are accepted in mechanics of solid bodies. However the applied calculating formulae require a certain correction and adaptation to specific features of mechanical fluoroplastic properties, one of which is its various rigidity at stretching and compression that is revealed in case of winding band work-piece on a mandrel. Fluorine plastic is a material with various modularity and its rigidity is higher during compression than under stretching and consequently in the case of band bending a neutral axis of section is displaced from the center of gravity to the area of compressed fibers, and the area of stretching is increasing. High elasticity at stretching and increase of this area lead to large accumulation of elastic deformations causing springing after unloading and changes in size of a finished product. These facts must be taken into account while calculating and designing a mandrel tool, it is also necessary to keep in mind various modularity of a material and possibility that a section being led to an uniform rigidity may take some other shape due to this. Calculation methodologies have been developed by the authors for both versions of section that take into consideration directly or indirectly a material with various modularity and which do not contradict each other and which are rather precisely proved by experimental data.

A mathematical modeling of geometric and kinematic relations has been made in respect of an operational zone for one of the standard machine tool sections which is used for simultaneous double-sided abrasive processing of highly-accurate lenses with a small rigidity (with a thin centre) under free lapping conditions. An analytical expression has been obtained for calculation of a sliding velocity in an arbitrarily selected point either on a surface to be processed or on a processing surface. As the proposed technology for simultaneous double-sided processing presupposes oscillatory motion of only processing tools then in order to eliminate a joint opening (a local contact fault between lapping surfaces of a tool and a work-piece) length of a drive piece must be not less than a specified value. In this case a convex tool is rigidly connected with a drive piece and it makes a reversing rotary motion (an oscillatory motion) around a centre of the processed spherical surface and a hinged joint of the centre with an output element of the technological equipment actuation mechanism is realized by transition of the drive piece ball end with a spherical seat in the output unit. In order to reveal analytical dependence of tool drive piece length on radius value of the processed spherical lens surface and friction coefficient in the contact zone of the tool and a work-piece the paper has considered a flow pattern of force while processing concave surfaces of lenses having small radius of curvature in case when the tool is positioned at the top. The friction coefficient included in the obtained expression has been determined for grinding while using suspensions of М40, М28, М10 micro-powders in a cast-iron grinding instrument and polishing while using polyrhythm suspension in a pitch and urethane-foam polisher. A method of the inclined plane has been used in this case and following the method a work-piece of optical glass has been initially lapped to the tool with the help of the appropriate abrasive suspension and the required angle has been determined at the moment when the work-piece started its sliding movement along the tool surface.

Conventional ultrasonic systems contain concentrators of longitudinal type to amplify and transfer vibrations to a tool. Along with them, elastic rings with variable cross section thickness can be used effectively as concentrators for ultrasonic vibrations of acoustic systems. Their practical application requires a scientifically substantiated methodology for determination of geometric parameters. The paper provides substantiation of the method used to determine dimensions of annular concentrators with a variable cross section which can enhance effectiveness of the ultrasound equipment while performing various technological tasks. Visual analysis of acoustic waves radiated by annular concentrators has shown that the most intensive vibrations are produced in the most thin sections. Computer simulation of oscillations in rings with an external diameter of 50 mm and a variable cross section has demonstrated that the largest increase of vibration amplitude is achieved at a certain ratio of ring thicknesses and diameters. An analysis of numerical values for amplication factor of vibrational amplitude Kд has revealed that there is a limit boundary for the ratio of ring wall thicknesses which, in its turn, depends on the ratio of ring outer and inner diameters at certain values of hole axis eccentricity. The ratio of diameters is expressed quantitatively by the coefficient Kд. An analysis of the results concerning numerical calculations of amplitude amplification factor performed for the specified model of the ring having 50 mm diameter have illustrated that this ratio should lie between 1.3 > Kд > 1.15. The obtained results can be used in ultrasonic devices with annular concentrators in order to perform various technological tasks.

The improved process flow differs from the known ones in the fact that the same photomask is used for formation of a channel stopper and metal contacts. Such approach has made it possible not only to decrease a number of the used phototomasks but it has also permitted to obtain a device with the required electrical characteristics. The paper presnts results of device and process simulation of bipolar static induction transistor (BSIT) manufactured in accordance with the improved process flow, measuring data of electrophysical parameters of its experimental samples and also comparison of simulation results with experimental data. At present there is a large quantity of software products that permit to perform physico-topological simulation of semiconductor structures. The device-process simulation is considered as a part of such simulation and it allows prior to obtaining experimental samples to determine process flow parameters at which the investigated structure will have necessary electrical parameters and characteristics. Thus the device-process simulation represents a certain “virtual production” for manufacturing semiconductor devices and microcircuits beginning from the startup stage of semiconductor wafer at production site and finishing by electrical characteristics measurements of the obtained structure. The BSIT device simulation being an analog of direct measurements of current-voltage characteristics has been performed with help of program system MOD-1D developed by the author. The BSIT model based on the fundamental system of semiconductor equations is mainly used for calculation of the BSIT current-voltage characteristics direct branch and its parameters and charge carrier recombination is described by Shockley – Read – Hall expression and equation depicting the Auger recombination process.

Titanium nickelide (nitinol) is one of prospective materials for production of special endo-prostheses and other parts and characterized with effect of shape memory. A specific feature of vascular endo-prostheses is the necessity to provide the required rigidity within the temperature interval from 15 to 42 оС. It has been established that titanium nickelide is able to provide the required rigidity but it depends on preliminary heat treatment parameters. So, it is important to determine rela-tions between rigidity of titanium nickelide wire and its preliminary heat treatment parameters for the given temperature in-terval. The aim of the work is to create devices that allow to estimate radial and flexural rigidity of elements made of flexible nitinol wire for manufacturing various medical products, including endo-prostheses of vessels – stents and stent grafts, filter traps. Laboratory digital scales and a specially developed dynamometer based on a cylindrical slotted spring and inductive displacement transducer have been used for measuring a load. The paper proposes possible variants of device designs used to monitor radial rigidity of blood vessel endo-prostheses, as well as to control flexural rigidity of endo-prosthesis elements and wire for their manufacture. The developed devices allow us to evaluate mechanical characteristics of samples under the desired temperature conditions. An introduction of the developed devices has permitted to carry out an operative control on radial and flexural stiffness of intravascular endo-prostheses elements both under conditions of research investigations and during technological process of their manufacture. Currently, the devices are used to specify heat treatment regimes for nitin-ol wire from various manufacturers while manufacturing vascular endo-prostheses.

Modern visions on the role of high-dispersity additives in concrete mixtures reflect a positive effect of optimal amount of ash left after combustion of solid fuel on structure and physico-mechanical characteristics of cement compositions: hardening of contact zone between cement stone and aggregates with formation of “binder – aggregate” clusters due to high surface energy of aggregate particles; reduction of total cement stone porosity in concrete while increasing volumetric concentration and aggregate dispersion; binding of calcium hydroxide by amorphized silicon of pozzolanic aggregates; increase in pozzolanic aggregate activity with its fine grinding, etc. Experimental investigations have ascertained that usage of portland cement clinker ash samples left after brown coal burning at the Lelchitsky deposit contributed to an increase of cement working life and activity. Concrete samples have been obtained that have improved physico-mechanical properties owing to introduction the following components in their composition: 2–14 % (of cement mass) of ash left after brown coal burning and 1.6–2.1 % of sodium salt that is a condensation product of sulfur oxidate in aromatic hydrocarbons with formaldehyde. Efficiency of the executed work has been proved by solution of the problems pertaining to an increase of neat cement working life, cement activity, concrete strength. The paper also considers no less important problem concerning protection of the environment from contamination with ash left after burning of high-ash brown coal.

Value of adhesion bond between mineral surface of acid quartz materials and organic binder (bitumen) has a great significance while forming structure of asphalt concrete strengthening. It has been established theoretically and experimentally that that the bond is insignificant and it causes premature destruction of structure for asphalt-binding substance and finally asphalt concrete. In this connection the relevant objective of the paper is a search for efficient methods for strengthening of adhesion bonds between the indicated structural components. A development for obtaining mineral powders from used molding sand activated by various hydrofobisation methods plays rather important role in that matter. The development of several methods for obtainment of activated mineral powders from used molding sand and also know-how pertaining to behavior of asphalt concrete formed on their basis have made it possible to create rational technologies which are applicable under operational conditions of the specified asphalt concrete plants in any region. The executed investigations on hydrofobisation of particles surface for the used molding sand with the help of sodium alkyl siliconates have established the basis for development of new efficient method for obtaining activated mineral powders from the used molding sand. The method presupposes treatment of the used molding sand in the process of mill flow in a ball drum while using sodium ethyl siliconate (0.3–0.7 % as compared with the mass of mineral raw material). Juvenile particle surface of fresh milled powder from the used molding sand has a maximum activity among the known filling compounds in relation to althin and this phenomenon can be explained by additional structure-forming impact of chemically active organic foundry binding agents which are contained in the used molding sand. That particular property allows to use widely powder from the used molding sand which contains uncured althin as a polymer component.

The paper reveals results of investigations on mass transfer kinetics and dynamics of coating formation while using integral electrospark alloying method with additional ultrasonic exposure at different stages of formation. Nowadays, a classical method for electrospark alloying with hard-alloy anodes and impulse AC voltage frequency on the vibration exciter coil from 20 to 1600 Hz has been mainly used for application of protective and strengthening coatings within permissible thickness and characteristics. The key aspect of ultrasonic exposure application (frequency 22–44 kHz) during electrospark alloying is the possibility to increase further thickness of coatings to be formed even after reaching a brittle fracture threshold of the coating material. Methodology of the executed research activity has been based on integrated studies (gravimetric, metallographic, X-ray diffraction and electron microscopic) of coatings which are to be formed through compositions produced while using method of high-energy hot compaction and a “refractory carbide (WC) and a binding material“ system in the form of alloy based on nickel from the series of “colmonoy” Ni – Ni3B system which is alloyed with additions of copper and silicon. The initial surface treatment within ultrasonic frequency range (22–44 kHz) contributes to a noticeable increase in the mass transfer rate, which is primarily determined by chemical composition and thermodynamic stability of anodes. It is due to surface activation in the process of its preliminary deformation at ultrasonic frequency which creates additional conditions for striking of a spark.The final ultrasonic treatment improves coating quality due to its additional forging that leads to an increase of its structure homogeneity and density.

The paper proposes a method for depth measurement of a disrupted layer on silicon wafer surface which is based on application of Auger spectroscopy with the precision sputtering of surface silicon layers and registration of the Auger electron yield intensity. In order to measure the disrupted layer with the help of Auger spectroscopy it is necessary to determine dependence of the released Auger electron amount on sputtering time (profile) and then the dependence is analyzed. Silicon amount in the disrupted layer is less than in the volume. While going deeper the disruptive layer is decreasing that corresponds to an increase of atom density in a single layer. The essence of the method lies in the fact the disruptive layer is removed by ion beam sputtering and detection of interface region is carried out with the help of registration of the Auger electron yield intensity from the sputtered surface up to the moment when it reaches the value which is equal to the Auger electron yield intensity for single-crystal silicon. While removing surface silicon layers the registration of the Auger electron yield intensity from silicon surface makes it possible to control efficiently a presence of the disrupted layer on the silicon wafer surface. In this case depth control locality is about 1.0 nm due to some peculiarities of Auger spectroscopy method. The Auger electron yield intensity is determined automatically while using Auger spectrometer and while removing the disrupted layer the intensity is gradually increasing. Depth of the disrupted layer is determined by measuring height of the step which has been formed as a result of removal of the disrupted layer from the silicon wafer surface. Auger spectroscopy methods ensures an efficient depth control surface disruptions at the manufacturing stages of silicon wafers and integrated circuits. The depth measurement range of disruptions constitutes 0.001–1.000 um.
