This research aims to analyze how the dwellers of Pernambues neighborhood, in Salvador, Bahia, perceive the noise pollution aiming to support urban management. Aiming to achieve this objective, it was necessary make a investigation of the main causes of noise pollution in the Pernambues through the reports issued by SEMOP (2020) and SEDUR (2021), containing several complaints on the streets and sources that motivate these complaints. Besides, this work enlist to a field research, where were applied 258 questionnaires in 4 streets that were detached for concentrating the largest number of complaints. Based on the subjectivity of the answers of these dwellers, it was possible to identify the main cause of noise pollution: car sound (43%) and in second place the home sound (25%), confirming the information in the reports issued by the officials institutions. As for the effects caused by pollution, 53% of respondents said they suffer stress, irritation and lack of concentration. 96% said to be uneasy because of noise pollution and that they close doors and windows in order to reduce the uncomfortable feeling. 79% of respondents said to be unsatisfied with the action of public institutions before the noise pollution. The data collected confirm that the dwellers not only perceive, but they are all very much affected by noise pollution. The material produced prepared a diagnosis of noise pollution in Pernambues and which public policies should be implemented to relieve or even solve the problem, contributing to the management of noise pollution. For future research, it is suggested the measurement of noise levels, in order to compare the sound results with the questionnaires. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
