People who speak out in the public interest, known as whistleblowers, often threaten vested interests. When whistleblowers suffer reprisals, as frequently occurs, the consequences for their health can be serious. Interviews with members of Whistleblowers Australia reveal that whistleblowers can experience a range of adverse psychological and physical effects, some of them quite serious. Whistleblowers use various methods to cope with these consequences, including telling their stories and seeking support from counsellors and others. Key words whistleblowing; health; coping; well-being

This paper presents outcomes for a Housing First (HF) cohort in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Using integrated governmental administrative data, we analysed outcomes for a cohort of 357 people, comparing health, justice, income, and social welfare indicators the year prior to HF and five years after being housed. In the fifth year after being housed, improved outcomes across each of these sectors were noted, with particularly impressive improvements found in income levels (+38%) and mental health. These results demonstrate the efficacy of this HF programme in improving well-being. Despite such notable improvements, there is room for HF to have a greater impact in the context of wider system changes that support overall well-being, as well as the goal of making homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring.

This paper aimsto clarify whether the concepts of Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing overlap or if there should be a proper definition for each one of them. Taking advantage of previous studies with students from two Polytechnical Institutes, conversational notions were used to form a questionnaire around the three topics above. The cooccurrences in the responses of the 43 subjects indicate that the central concept is Wellbeing, and that Health differs from Mental Health because it is closer to positive and negative ways of coping.

Positive psychology interventions promote psychological health. This quasi-experimental study evaluated an intervention efficacy on character strengths perception and psychological well-being in 30 information technology (IT) professionals. A sociodemographic and labor questionnaire, and the Character Strengths and Psychological Wellbeing scales were applied online. The intervention structure was six individual, weekly, face-to-face meetings. The intervention results indicate an increase in the score for the dimensions creativity, prudence, and perspective; and in the psychological well-being scale, domain of the environment and autonomy. The effect size was small in authenticity, bravery, teamwork, creativity, hope, leadership, judgment and prudence, and average in perspective and all psychological well being dimensions. Empirical evidence indicates that psychological wellbeing can be promoted by intentional activities mobilizing character strengths. Such activities contribute to organizations by undertaking programs that encourage the endorsement of personal strengths at work.

Coworking spaces (CSs) have gained significant attention in the last decades as an alternative to traditional offices and homes. These spaces offer a flexible and collaborative environment that caters to the needs of freelancers, entrepreneurs, and remote workers. The purpose of this paper is to systematically review academic literature to investigate how CSs contribute to workers' quality of working life (QWL) and wellbeing. Literature is analysed thematically following the QWL framework proposed by Walton (1973). The findings of this review suggest that CSs may act as a quasi-organisation by emulating the role traditionally undertaken by employers contributing to different aspects of workers’ QWL, which ultimately affect their wellbeing. CSs’ contribution largely depends on the different material features of the spaces, the services offered, the work culture promoted, the curation activity of the host, the coworking members, and the complex interrelation among all these elements. In the conclusive section, the review identifies potential research gaps and areas for future research in this field.

Urban planning has formed a binomial with health since its origins as a discipline. The demands derived from the welfare society, environmental sustainability and the health circumstances of COVID-19 testify to the need to update this relationship. The aim of the URB_HealthSproject is to study the ways of endorsing health in the contemporary city through the urban design of public space. A knowledge transfer model between the academy and the local society in the field of urban health and public space has been defined , whose theoretical structure and implementation in three European localities is presented.

The use of animal in biomedical research remains a critical compromise. Research and higher education institutions play a major role in educating on the use of animal and such training is expected to translate into the development of a culture of care practice across all staff working with animals. But nurturing a “culture of care” and impacting in professional attitudes in the field of animal research remains challenging due to its social, ethical and different institutional frameworks. From an educational perspective, current practice remains challenged by the need for better integration of inter-cultural perceptions on animal welfare, supported by more cross disciplinary integration in educational curriculum including the relevance of the 3Rs principles and promoting reflective practice strategies. Institutional support is crucial to provide a safe, and supportive framework to promote such caring ethos. Our aim is to discuss practical actions to implement and assess culture of care, highlighting its direct impact on the professional integrity of staff which is directly linked to research and education excellence. Seeking a global welfare for all the beings involved and supporting individual and team reflective practice will provide better tools to guarantee the best care of the animals.

Despite the assumption about the positive relationship between wellbeing and performance within the happy and productive worker thesis (HPWT), the matter is still under discussion due to inconclusive results. To better understand the link between wellbeing and performance and delineate their possible causal relationships, it is necessary to conduct longitudinal studies with data collection at different moments, as well as broaden the focus by considering different types of wellbeing and performance. To achieve this, the authors of this study analyzed the relationship between intrinsic (IJS) and extrinsic job satisfaction (EJS) with creative performance. The design consisted of a three-time cross-lagged panel design since it permits analyzation of the reciprocal and longitudinal relationship between two or more variables. Our sample was composed of 209 employees from nine different organizations in Spain. The results demonstrated that only IJS predicted creative performance at one of the time intervals. The conclusions were: 1) the relationship between IJS and creative performance might be spurious, 2) it is important to consider IJS and EJS separately because they yield differential results, 3) the relationship between IJS and creative performance is not reciprocal, and 4) it is necessary to increase longitudinal studies in the field.

During confinement due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Portugal, seniors saw their social and family activities interrupted. Social isolation and loneliness were a challenge to overcome as they were far from their family and friends and even deprived of their routine and leisure activities. Recognizing that Social Networks Sites (SNS) become a form of socialization and social integration for some seniors in Portugal and given that their use is positively linked to social inclusion (Richter et al., 2013), a study was carried out based on telephone interviews deconstructed during confinement. The non-probabilistic and convenience sample covers 19 seniors with a profile created on Facebook. The data treated in MAXQDA2020 aimed the qualitative and quantitative approaches supported by categorical analysis. The aim of this research is to analyse the behaviors of seniors regarding the use of SNS and how these could contribute to minimize social isolation and help them reduce the feeling of loneliness. The investigation showed the existence of a greater propensity to not use SNS. Specifically, they used Facebook to communicate, relate, maintain, or get in touch with their network and as a form of entertainment to occupy their free time. Another important discovery of this investigation was that the seniors had, in a period of longer isolation, a greater predisposition to the use of new tools and platforms that helped them to maintain relationships, offline activities and social participation. We present a conceptual overview around Wellbeing (WB) and some reflections about the necessity and difficulty of measure it. We start by analyzing the WB concept from the different axis, components, and dimensions (that form part of it. Also, we include and present different theories and conceptions that have been evolving through history, from Hedonism and Eudaimonic to modern psychological WB, Self-Determination Theory, Objective list, or Desires Theories to Authentic Happiness. Based on this revision, we are going to analyzing critically some of the most influential measure indicators of WB proposed during last two decades. Two are the main conclusions of our work: one is that indicators proposed lacks of integration of multiple WB dimensions that can offer a precise idea of the multidimensionality of the concept; second, an accurate, integrate and rigorous WB concept and measurement is an essential condition for effective and fair public policy.

This study aims to outline the relationship between Positive Psychology and tourism through a systematic literature review. Tourism seeks to increase the wellbeing of people, and wellbeing is a crucial variable in Positive Psychology which in turn aims to understand and promote people’s potential. This research used as search terms ‘Positive Psychology’, ‘wellbeing’, ‘happiness’, ‘tourism’, ‘visitor’ and ‘travel’, terms which were applied through the Online Knowledge Library. The inclusion/exclusion criteria led to a sample of 49 references which were then individually analyzed. Results showed a recent increase in studies focused on the relationship between the variables, Europe being in the lead. Overall, policies are important for tourism development; tourism promotes wellbeing for residents and tourists; entrepreneurs have an innovative opportunity in wellbeing; and nature is linked to wellbeing. Implications and suggestions for future studies are presented.

This study aims to analyze Positive Education as a possible pedagogical alternative to the conventional educational system. Due to the high rates of mental disorders among young people around the world, the school emerges as a privileged space offering an extraordinary opportunity to reach out to a large number of children and young people and to combat this phenomenon. Positive Education integrates scientifically validated guidelines from Positive Psychology and aims to promote students' well-being and academic success. After the conceptual presentation of Positive Education, this study demonstrates several current researches, through a Systematic Review of Literature done at the Online Knowledge Library (B-on). The investigations analyzed indicate that through the application of program-based intervention with scientific evidence that promote well-being in the educational community, the school can in fact be a positive institution that promotes mental health. Introduction: Burnout and occupational stress are common problems among Anesthesiologists. The COVID-19 pandemic posed strain on the healthcare system and contributed to an aggravation of this problem. We aimed to identify the main stressors in Anesthesiologists during the post-pandemic period. Material and Methods: Descriptive and analytical cross-sectional observational study directed to the members of the Portuguese Society of Anesthesiology. The “Stress Questionnaire in Anesthesiologists” (SQA) was applied; this instrument measures the main stressors in Anesthesiologists and assesses 3 dimensions: clinical, team and organizational stress. For group comparisons, the t test for independent samples and one-way ANOVA were used. Results: One hundred and twenty-three doctors answered the questionnaire. Most participants were female (74%) and worked in the Northern region (46%). Women reported more clinical and team stress. Organizational stress was higher in Anesthesiologists with frequent activity in Emergency and lower in those who worked exclusively in the private health sector. Discussion and Conclusions: The higher stress level in women is in line with reports from the pre-pandemic period. The lower organizational stress in professionals who work exclusively in the privatehealth sector might be explained by better working conditions and/or less interaction with COVID-19 patients.Identifying the main stressors in portuguese Anesthesiologists may facilitate the implementation of directed interventions, aiming to reduce occupational stress., Introdução: O burnout e stress ocupacional são problemas comuns entre os Anestesiologistas.

In the course of its activities, Medical Clinic Pilares da Saúde found that the majority of its clients were men and women over the age of forty-five. This was contrary to what they had initially envisaged, since they expected ladies over thirty years of age, hence a younger population. In order to better understand this reality, they carried out an investigation using quantitative methodologies, performing a survey on health education and health concerns. The aim of the study was to analyse the relationship between education and health as well as their effects on the new generation as opposed to the older generation. The results showed that education has been a driving force for greater literacy in health in the new generation, allowing to conclude that it concerns itself more with health when in comparison with the older generation due to the education they have received. SOCIAL impact , *SOCIAL alienation , *ADOLESCENCE , *PATH analysis (Statistics) , *SOCIAL skills - Abstract
The aim of this study was to analyse the social alienation impact on the feelings of belonging to a group, friends' relationships and wellbeing of Portuguese adolescents. Methods: A total of 5695 Portuguese adolescents with a mean age of 15.46 (SD=1.80), attending the 8th, 10th and 12th years of schooling in mainland Portugal were included in the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) study. Two models of path analysis were executed, one for the more resilient group of adolescents and one for the less resilient group, where it was found that the negative impact of social alienation on adolescents' wellbeing was greater in the less resilient group. The friend's relationship appears associated with less social alienation, as well as the feelings of belonging to a group, in both groups of resilience, nevertheless in the less resilient group the impact of the feelings of belonging reduces while the impact of the relation with the friends increases. The negative impact of social alienation on the wellbeing of adolescents is evident and it is essential to promote skills that prevent these consequences and promote the well-being of adolescents. Resilience emerges as a protective factor for the negative consequences of social alienation. Presented results strengthen the need to implement among adolescents' programs that promote their personal and social skills with emphasis on resilience. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The main of the present study was to analyse the importance of friends in the development of social skills and in the adolescent's wellbeing. A total of 5695 Portuguese adolescents with a mean age of 15.46 (SD=1.80), attending the 8th, 10th and 12th years of schooling in mainland Portugal were included in the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) study. Comparisons of means (ANOVA) were performed between adolescents who do not have friends and those who have one or more friends and a logistic regression model to analyse the condition of having no friends. Adolescents who have one or more friends showed higher averages for life satisfaction, social skills, family relationship and screen time. On the other hand, adolescents who do not have friends have a higher average of social alienation and psychological symptoms. The negative impact of not having friends during adolescence is evident and influences the development of social skills and the relation of the adolescents with the family. Preventing social isolation and its consequences is essential, as is the inclusion of peers in developed programs. The results highlight the essential role of friends for well-being, for the development of social skills and the relationship of adolescents with family. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

FAMILY-school relationships , *ADOLESCENCE , *INTERPERSONAL relations , *SOCIAL alienation , *FAMILIES , *PARENT-teenager relationships - Abstract
The aim of the present study was to analyse the association between school, interpersonal relationships and the wellbeing of Portuguese adolescents. A total of 5695 Portuguese adolescents with a mean age of 15.46 (SD=1.80), attending the 8th, 10th and 12th years of schooling in mainland Portugal were included in the Health Behavior in School-aged Children (HBSC) study.: A path analysis model was carried out in order to verify the association between the school satisfaction, wellbeing and the interpersonal relationships of Portuguese adolescents. There was a significant and positive association between school satisfaction and the relationship with family, relationship with friends and relation with teachers. Concerning wellbeing, there was a significant and positive association with life satisfaction and happiness and a significant and negative association with psychological symptoms, social alienation and concerns. These results highlight the role of contexts for adolescent satisfaction with school, like the importance of the relationship with family and friends, especially the role of teachers and, on the other hand, the influence of school on the wellbeing of adolescents, showing that the more they like school, the greater is the wellbeing of adolescents. In order to promote the adolescents' school satisfaction and consequently their wellbeing, it is essential to design interventions that include all the agents involved in the education and development of adolescents in Portugal, as well as to change the focus of the school also for the promotion of personal, social and emotional skills of adolescents. ANIMAL-assisted therapy , *HUMAN-animal relationships , *WELL-being , *HIGHER education , *ANXIETY , *PSYCHOLOGICAL stress , *ACADEMIC achievement - Abstract
A variety of evidence, both empirical and scientific, demonstrates that human-animal interactions can have a positive impact on human health and well-being, through animal-assisted interventions (AIA), animal-assisted therapies (AAT), activities animalassisted programs (AAA) and, more recently, animal visiting programs (VAA). One non-clinical group that has recently received more attention in IAA are students, where interactions are increasingly popular, particularly at higher education levels in Europe, the United States and Canada. The mental health, resilience and well-being of university students are fundamental concerns for universities, as they impact the performance of future professionals. Difficulties in dealing with the pressure of studies and integration into a new environment, the search for good results are factors that can cause stress and compromise mental health, making the implementation of effective strategies such as Pet Relax extremely important. In the actions of the Pet Relax Project, which is a sister initiative of the Therapeutic Animals Project, animals are taken by their guardians to UVV academic units during exam weeks and are available for interaction for 30 to 40 minutes, during breaks. As a result, we had positive feedback from students. Even if for a short time and in specific actions, the interaction with the animals brought tranquility, reduced stress, and anxiety, as well as better academic performance in the assessments, according to information obtained through the application of a questionnaire. Organizations and leaders face the challenge of retaining their employees in their organization. Currently, there is an orientation/concern for employees to evolve or enhance the sustainability of their career, which can be translated into factors such as: happiness (measured by job satisfaction), health (measured by physical and psychological well-being) and productivity (measured by organizational citizenship behavior). According to the model proposed by De Vos et al. (2020), these are the three fundamental pillars for achieving a sustainable career. Over the years, the importance of reconciling professional and personal life has changed the way organizations look at their flexibility processes, due to the awareness of the importance of this domain in the employee's career. The present study aims to analyze the impact of sustainable careers on work-family balance, due to the lack of existing literature on the subject. The research model adopted is based on the distribution of a questionnaire, with a sample of 150 employees, from a leading company in the energy sector, focusing on its workers, as well as on their valorization and career management. The results show evidence of the impact of job satisfaction on work-family balance, suggesting that employees with high levels of satisfaction have high levels of work-family balance. The main contribution of the study was to test the impact of sustainable careers on the balance between work and family, in an organization that prioritizes the careers of its employees. In the course of this study, the main limiting factor is the survey sample, which, although somewhat expressive, could be larger. info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

- Abstract
Considering the growth of pig immunocastration in Brazil and the lack of information on its effects in the different lineages and commercial crosses, this study aimed to evaluate the performance and quality of pork carcass from 70 to 150 days of different sexual categories and different genetic origins. The breeding males used were PIET (predominantly Pietrain genetics) and DLPH (similar proportion of Hampshire, Duroc, Large White, Pietrain). Twenty animals of each category were used, with initial mean weight of 25.0 kg housed in concrete floor bays. A randomized block design in a 3 x 2 factorial arrangement (three sex categories - females, castrated males and immunocastrated males - and two genetic origins) was used, totaling six treatments and five replications, with two animals per bay (experimental plot). DLPH pigs presented lower (P <0.05) feed intake and feed conversion during the growth phase. Immunocastrated males showed better (P <0.05) performance in the finishing phase. There was no influence (P> 0.05) of the genetic origin on the carcass traits and the carcass yield of females was higher (P <0.05) than that of the immunocastrated males. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The ES'COOL Project arises because of the gap in the promotion of mental health in a school context, especially in the training of teachers. The main goal of "ES'COOL" is to promote adolescents' mental health through capacity building of school teachers and school staff. The program aims the development of personal and social skills, and includes the prevention of anxiety and depression symptoms and the promotion of resiliency, and self-regulation in adolescents. The training aims to enable effective referral and early intervention in complex situations and promote dialogue with parents and school staff about mental health. The project will occur in three phases and will include teachers from primary and secondary schools (from 1st to 12th grade), kindergarten teachers and special education teachers covering schools from all the regions of Portugal. With the ES'COOL training, it is intended to create in schools a cycle that generates projects promoting well-being and mental health in Portuguese adolescents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aimed at examining the benefits and challenges of practicing Taekwondo (TKD) to adolescents in Addis Ababa. In so doing, the study investigated the nature of TKD training, benefits of practicing TKD, and challenges/problems related with practicing TKD. A descriptive concurrent mixed methods research design was used. Accordingly, the quantitative part of the study had 108 TKD adolescent participants while the qualitative part had 12 participants (eight TKD adolescents and four TKD coaches), from four TKD clubs in Addis Ababa. Both one-stage cluster sampling technique and purposive sampling technique were employed to select participants for the quantitative and qualitative parts of the study, respectively. Questionnaires and in-depth interviews were used to collect data from participants. Results of the study indicated: (1) the TKD training provided by the four TKD clubs was more of a modern/sport form of TKD; (2) TKD adolescents and coaches perceived that the benefits of TKD for adolescents are multifaceted, i.e., social benefits, physical benefits, mental benefits, self-defense, addiction avoidance, and other benefits; and (3) though majority (63.6%) of the respondents claimed that they did not face any problem as a result of practicing TKD, the following were identified as major problems that could threaten the wellbeing of TKD adolescents: family-related problems, community-related problems, and competition-related problems. In general, results show that the training of TKD can have a multifaceted positive contribution to adolescents’ wellbeing.

Epidemiologists have sought to focus global attention on the “social determinants of health” - the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age - and on the impact of the inequitable distribution of these determinants on people’s opportunities to be healthy. Evidence demonstrates, unequivocally, that occupation is a determinant of human health and wellbeing. Because inequitable social determinants shape the availability of health-promoting occupational opportunities, occupational therapists have raised the importance of addressing occupational injustices. However, theoretical scholarship pertaining to occupational justice and occupational injustice has been disproportionately dominated by the culturally-specific perspectives of Anglophone theorists from the Global North. The purpose of this paper is to highlight some of the problems and confusions arising from Anglophone scholarship on occupational injustices; and to highlight the importance of action on the social determinants of health through occupation. Confused definitions of various occupational injustices are unhelpful to practitioners. The occupational therapy profession could actively address the social determinants of occupation through focusing on occupational equity and occupational rights, informed by existing scholarship on human capabilities. Issues of occupational rights, denial of occupational rights (occupational injustices), and of in/equities of occupational opportunities ought to be fundamental issues for the occupational therapy profession, whose most pressing concern should surely be: how can occupational therapists most effectively address the social determinants of occupation such that all people have the capabilities to engage in meaningful occupations that contribute positively to their own well-being and the well-being of their communities, as is their right.

The aim of this article is to examine how experiences with interpersonal relationships contribute to older adults’ well-being in the residential context of sheltered housing. We draw on data collected from sixteen in-depth interviews with older adults living in sheltered housing in a small town in northern Netherlands. Our participants experienced the interaction with their children as of primary importance among their interpersonal relationships, while interactions with other residents were rather superficial. Their children offered emotional support as well as instrumental support and were found to play essential roles in our participants’ wellbeing. Moreover, participants expressed that the social and physical activities organized by the residential care-facility offered them the opportunity to remain physically and mentally active. The help received from housekeepers and caregivers was found to be another important element of interpersonal relationships and so was the reciprocal nature of support exchanged with other sheltered housing residents. We conclude that the benefits of interpersonal relationships in sheltered housing should be considered when designing policy for the well-being of older adults ageing in place.

As tecnologias digitais são reconhecidas como um instrumento vital para a manutenção de muitas atividades, e da “normalidade possível”, no entanto são consideradas uma solução aquém da experiência anterior, e tanto pais e filhos desejam retomar a forma como viviam a vida pré-pandemia., This report presents the national results of the study “The Digital Lives of Children in Covid-19 Times: Digital practices, safety and wellbeing of children between 6 and 18 years old”, coordinated by the Joint Research Center of the European Commission, e conducted in 15 European countries. The goal of the study was mapping the digital practices of families with children during the mandatory lockdown period due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, the study also aimed to understand the impact of this period in changes of practices and perceptions of both parents and children. The methodology is mixed, including an online survey to a representative sample of 509 Portuguese families with children between 10 and 18 years old, and in-depth interviews to 10 diversified families with children between 6 and 12 years old. Both data collection techniques focused on different topics, among which we highlight the digital practices of the children during lockdown, parental mediation, the perceptions of children and parents about opportunities and risks associated to the use of digital technologies, que acquisition or development of digital skills during this period, the experience of remote teaching, and the wellbeing of children and adolescents. Finally, we inquired the families about the future impact that they predicted for this lockdown period. Among the main findings, we stress the intensification of the digital practices of children, either for the purpose of studying, either for entertainment, as well as to maintain the social bonds outside the home. This intensification of the digital practices was an opportunity for the development of new digital skills, many of which driven by the platforms and resources that each school adopted for remote teaching. Some children reported that their exposure to risks was more frequent that it used to be before, as well as difficulties in managing their own use of digital media, which they recognized as excessive. These aspects are a source of concern for parents. Both parents and children are also concerned about the possibility of having a worse school performance as a repercussion of remote teaching. The children present good wellbeing levels, and some even appreciated the opportunity to spend more time with their families, but they also miss face to face interaction with other family members, friends and teachers. Possible lessons or changes for the future are clouded, at the moment of data collection, by the valorization of the limitations and losses that were inherent to the lockdown period. Digital technologies are acknowledged as vital for the maintenance of many activities, and of the “possible normal”. However, they are considered a solution with shortcomings when compared to pre-Covid times, and both parents and children desire to resume their pre-pandemic lifestyle as soon as possible.

The benefits of exercise in nature, traditionally called green exercise, are widely described in the literature. The first part of this dissertation consists of a review in which it was sought to investigate the influence of exercise in natural environments on health, particularly in contexts other than green (arborized). The main explanatory theories of the health benefits of this practice and the psychological and physiological influences of different exercise contexts in nature were reviewed. The Ecological Dynamics approach stands out for its compelling and parsimonious explanation of the interaction between the practitioner and nature. We propose to cover all the practice in nature, in particular the aquatic environments, being necessary to further study its influence. Research in this area presents several methodological inconsistencies, making it difficult to synthesize results and creating the need for greater methodological coherence. In the second part of this dissertation, a proposal for a research protocol was presented, the objective of which is to ascertain the psychological and physiological effects of different natural environments, in exercise. The research protocol seeks to clarify the effects of exercise practice in different contexts of nature (arborized and aquatic) regarding affective responses, satisfaction and adherence to exercise, and to contribute to reduce the scarcity of longitudinal studies in this area of knowledge.

Abstract: Poverty is a complex multidimensional phenomenon. The relation of poverty with wellbeing, in general, are present in the incompatibility between these two aspects. The objective is to analyze the impacts of poverty and its repercussions on the wellbeing of the population of rural communities in Brazil. The quantitative methodology with the application of a questionnaire with Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) and the Personal Wellbeing Index (PWI) in Pentecoste (Ceará), Cascavel (Paraná) and Humaitá (Amazonas) communities. A total of 1,156 individuals participated, with 1,113 valid questionnaires with 328 (29.7%) questionnaires answered by men and 777 (70.3%) by women. In Humaitá and Pentecoste, 376 people participated and in Cascavel, there were 361 people. Pentecoste was the community with the highest multidimensional poverty (MPI = 0.32, SD = 0.11), followed by Humaitá (MPI = 0.31, SD = 0.11) and Cascavel, community with lower multidimensional poverty (MPI = 0.28, SD = 0.11). Pentecost showed the highest average of wellbeing (M = 7.78), followed by Cascavel (M = 7.42) and Humaitá (M = 7,13). The relation between multidimensional poverty and well-being presented the contradictions among higher income and greater well-being, considering that the level of well-being of the respondents was high, even living in contexts of poverty. Then the proposal of discussing well-being from the perspective of buen vivir demands a broad process of reflections and discussions that points to the need to incorporate collectivist values and the ethics of sufficiency for the whole community when analyzing mainly the rural contexts.

Abstract Epidemiologists have sought to focus global attention on the “social determinants of health” - the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age - and on the impact of the inequitable distribution of these determinants on people’s opportunities to be healthy.

Serão estudados os países, Bélgica (BE), Bulgária (BU), Croácia (HR), Chipre (CY), República Checa (CZ), Dinamarca (DK), Estónia (EE), França (FR), Alemanha (DE), Grécia (GR), Hungria (HU), Irlanda (IE), Lituânia (LT), Holanda (NL), Polónia (PL), Portugal (PT), Eslováquia (SK), Eslovénia (SI), Espanha (ES), Suécia (SE), Reino Unido (UK) (países da União Europeia), Israel (IL), Noruega (NO), Suíça (CH), Rússia (RU), Ucrânia (UA) (países não pertencentes à União Europeia). This project work aimed to study the determinants of job satisfaction of Portuguese workers and, comparatively, workers from other European countries. It also intended to alert researchers in the area, and encourages employers to change their policies, giving importance to variables (such as the variables studied) that allow greater satisfaction with work.To present results and to carry out the study, linear regression was used, using data available from the European Social Survey (ESS) Round 5 of 2010, allowing a sample of paid workers of 23803 individuals. The analysis shows that in Portugal and in other European countries, there are different results regarding job satisfaction. The variables are associated with aspects such as supervision, autonomy, unionization, hours overtime, much work, variety at work, new knowledge, peer support, safety, health, salary, time at work, promotion, and balance between work and private life. The variables that had the most effect on job satisfaction were satisfaction with the balance between time dedicated to work and other aspects of life, satisfaction with salary and variety at work.Portugal gives little importance to most of the variables studied, considering only relevant the variable satisfaction with the balance between the time dedicated to work and other aspects of life.Countries will be studied, Belgium (BE), Bulgaria (BU), Croatia (HR), Cyprus (CY), Czech Republic (CZ), Denmark (DK), Estonia (EE), France (FR), Germany (DE) , Greece (GR), Hungary (HU), Ireland (IE), Lithuania (LT), Netherlands (NL), Poland (PL), Portugal (PT), Slovakia (SK), Slovenia (SI), Spain (ES) , Sweden (SE), United Kingdom (UK) (European Union countries), Israel (IL), Norway (NO), Switzerland (CH), Russia (UK), Ukraine (UA) (non-European Union countries) .

ABSTRACT - Environmental enrichment is a relatively recent practice that came to life under the scope of conservation, with the purpose of enabling animals under human care, to perform their natural behaviors, as they would do in the wild, with the purpose of improving their well-being and to prepare those who are eligible for release, in case they show a strong adaptability to readjust to wildlife. This practice consists in the modification of the environment that surrounds the animal, namely the facility that they live in and husbandry, using the 5 categories of environmental enrichment: social, cognitive, sensory, food and physical enrichment. It has been applied extensively in Zoos throughout the world, including the Lisbon Zoo, where the traineeship and the study took place. The study specimen was a female Jaguar (Panthera onca) that was taken in recently by the Lisbon Zoo from the Darthmouth Zoo, an exchange done in accordance with European Association of Zoos and Aquaria guidelines. The study focused on the evaluation of the environmental enrichment that was initially applied in the facility that was meant for her. The data collection for the evaluation was made using a photographic camera, a notebook and a smartphone with the app Animal Behaviour Pro available for iOS, which enabled faster and more accurate behavioral records. These data were automatically converted in spreadsheets on the computer, ready for statistical treatment, using non-parametric tests. The program used to analyze the data was RStudio. With the collected data, it was possible to conclude that the specimen is well adjusted to its facility and performing mostly natural behaviors that would be observed in animals in the wild. The environmental enrichment applied was varied, from the construction of wooden structures, natural vegetation, the introduction of spices such as cinnamon, pinecones hanging from branches to stimulate hearing, cardboard boxes and sackcloth bags stained with blood and food hidden in the installation. They are therefore fulfilling their objectives of promoting natural activities at Jaguar, contributing positively to their development and well-being. N/A
