The objective of this study was to carry out an adaptation of the Positive Driver Behaviors Scale (PDBS) for Brazil and verify if it would be possible to propose a brief version of the scale. The instrument originally composed of 38 items was applied to 204 motorists in Brazil, the majority being men (65.7%), with a mean age of 35.6 years. The result showed the possibility of a one-factor structure, consisting of a total of 19 items and Cronbach's alpha = .90, explaining 37.9% of the total variance. The relevance of this measure is highlighted because it is a tool capable of evaluating non-traffic behavior. Besides, it provides support to traffic professionals and psychologists, in order to instrumentalize their practices. It also allows further understanding of the phenomenon of transport, which can facilitate the development of effective measures to combat accidents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ABSTRACT Introduction: Motorcycle accidents constitute a public health problem that affects public and private health services due to the expenses of the victim's treatment and rehabilitation. Objective: Evaluate the impact of motorcycle accident costs in a university hospital in 2020. Method: Comparative analysis of the costs of motorcycle accident patients in 2020 and 2017. Results: Among 151 patients included in the study, the average cost was U$3,083.54, and the average days of hospitalization were 5.3 days. The patient with the highest cost to the hospital spent U$22,504.05, and the patient with the lowest cost spent U$356.72. The longest stay among these patients was 41 days, and the shortest was one day. The average cost per patient per day for the entire sample was U$581.80. Conclusion: The formulation and application of strategies that promote the reduction of motorcycle accidents in the city of Campinas are necessary. Level of evidence II, Retrospective study.

Objective. To identify the temporal trend in mortality and years of life lost to death or disability (DALY) due to motorcycle accidents in males from Latin America and the Caribbean from 2010 to 2019, using estimates produced by the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study. Method. In this ecological study, the time series was analyzed using a piecewise linear regression model (joinpoint) to estimate and test the annual percent change and the average annual percent change with a 95% confidence interval. Results. The super-region defined by GBD 2019 as Latin America and the Caribbean ranked first globally in mortality and DALY for male motorcyclists aged 15-49 in 2019. Rates increased significantly from 2010 to 2013, with a significant reduction in both after this period. During the analyzed decade, the Tropical Latin America sub-region (Brazil and Paraguay) had the highest mortality and DALY rates in the population of interest; nevertheless, this was the only sub-region achieving a significant reduction in these rates. The Caribbean sub-region (Bermuda, Dominica, Suriname, Guyana, Belize, Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Saint Lucia, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Saint Kitts and Nevis, U.S. Virgin Islands, Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Antigua and Barbuda, Cuba e Jamaica) showed a significant increase in both rates over the same period, while Andean Latin America (Ecuador, Bolivia and Peru) and Central Latin America (Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Honduras, and Venezuela) remained stable. Conclusions. The data underscore the importance of developing surveillance actions aimed at preventing motorcycle accidents, since the observed declining rates are still insufficient to address the morbidity and mortality associated with road accidents as a public health problem. Objective: this study suggests a multicriteria model for decision-making assistance that, by using spatial representation, can provide decision aid for the traffic management process in a county, hence facilitating improved decision-making. The decision-making process can be supported by multicriteria decision aid technologies and geographic information systems (GIS). Methodology/Approach: A multicriteria decision-making model is developed to categorize the city's roads according to their importance to the population's safety. For classification, the PROMSORT method (PROMETHEE Sorting) is proposed, and the results are reflected in the GIS. Results: It presents a numerical application for the city of Mossoró/RN, rating the roads and providing information for public managers' decision-making. Limitations: the model application is contingent upon the efforts of managers who can begin working in the traffic and urban mobility management sector after each public election to comprehend its significance. Originality/Value of the article: The GIS application generates a viable study method by facilitating the decision-making process and allowing the geographic visualization of data pertaining to the region under study.

Objective: Analyze the spatio-temporal distribution of hospitalizations for traffic accidents in Mato Grosso State (1998 to 2021), aiming to guide public policies for the prevention of these episodes. Methods: Ecological and descriptive study of hospitalization records for traffic accidents, organized by year of service and municipalities in Mato Grosso. The average hospitalization rates were calculated by adding the hospitalization rates per year, multiplied by 100,000, the result being divided by the number of years for each period. To calculate the rate of vehicles per inhabitant in 2020, the total number of vehicles was divided by the population, multiplying the result by 10. The spatio-temporal analysis was made from the hospitalization records and the estimated population by municipality and by year. The Kulldorff circular statistical scan was used, with a discrete Poisson probability distribution and a radius of 300,000 Cartesian units, performed using the SaTScan program, version 9.6. The maps were made using the ArcMap program (version 10.3). Results: 81,897 hospitalization records for traffic accidents were observed, 77.03% of whom were male and 22.97% were female. A higher frequency was observed in records of 20 to 29 years old (27.74%), 30 to 39 years old (20.96%) and 40 to 49 years old (15.03%). No spatial pattern was identified in the distribution of hospitalization rates and space-time clusters; however, the highest rates and most clusters were observed in municipalities intercepted by federal highways. Background: Identify prognostic factors that interfere in outcome polytraumatized patients HC Unicamp. Methods: Observational and descriptive study, with 29 polytraumatized patients, age more than 17 years old and both genders; and excluded polytraumatized patients hospitalization time more than 72 hours. It were static program SPSS 15.0 for Windows and Graphpad Prism 6.0 and qui-quadrado test and Spearman. Value of p≤0.05 were considered statistically. Results: Mechanism trauma more often were traffic accident, male gender was more often with median age of 30 years old. The patients that had discharge from hospital had median of RTS equal 7.83 and TRISS of 99. Moreover, 19 patients that home discharge, six need of orotraqueal intubation in hospitalar admission. Conclusion: The index demonstrated the gravity and prognostic of patients in the discharge hospital. This article aimed to analyze the profile of traffic accidents in the municipality of Toledo/PR in the period from 2005 to 2016, in order to identify the adverse economic and social consequences. To this end, the methodology used part of the qualitative approach using structured data from competent institutions (SYSBM and IPEA), which brings the amount of traffic accidents and deaths resulting from such accidents, as well as the estimated costs for each situation, among them loss of production, damage to property and medical/hospital costs. It was noted that the financial costs can be measured, but the social reflexes involving the pain and suffering of the relatives and friends of the victims of traffic accidents are incalculable. It was also found that the victims usually stay away from work, which may lead to the constant impoverishment, impacting negatively on his own life and society in general.

ABSTRACT Objective To carry out a cultural adaptation of the Functional Capacity Index (FCI) into Portuguese and to verify its reliability and validity in traffic accident victims. Method Methodological study for cultural adaptation of the FCI. Reliability and validity were verified in a convenience sample of traffic accident victims, in São Paulo city. Data from the patient’s medical record were collected retrospectively in 2015. Reliability verified by Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and validity by Spearman’s correlation and Mann-Whitney test. Results The FCI in Portuguese was applied to 50 traffic accident victims. The internal consistency reached Cronbach’s alpha values >0.70. The FCI correlated with the Katz index, did not correlate with the severity of trauma and the FCI of trauma patients was higher compared to those without trauma. Conclusion The FCI in Portuguese showed satisfactory internal consistency, allowing the measurement of functional capacity, discriminating against people with and without traumatic injuries

16. Motivação para a escolha da motocicleta: uma análise sob a perspectiva de motociclistas acidentados.

Background: Since the 1990s, there has been a significant increase in the production and use of motorcycles in Brazil. At the same time, the number of fatal victims of land transport accidents has increased. In 2015, motorcyclists were the main fatal victims of these accidents. Objective: To identify the factors that motivate motorcyclists to choose the motorcycle as a means of transportation despite the risks. This study was based on the concept of motivation proposed by Bergamini and on the notion of time and space proposed by Harvey. Method: A qualitative study, with sample selection by saturation, conducted with motorcyclists who were victims of traffic accidents in a reference trauma hospital. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed. Results: Fifteen motorcyclists, all men with median age of 26 years, were interviewed. The motivational factors revealed were "time", "financial aspects", "motorcycle appreciation", "only vehicle available". Conclusion: The greatest motivation for choosing the motorcycle as a means of transportation was the possibility of generating financial savings while providing a daily gain of time, although other factors also contributed to this motivation. Based on the emancipation records, on the Law of November 7, 1831 and on Decree n°. 1,303 of December 28, 1853; The present article intends to discuss the illegal enslavement of the African Rufina in Desterro, who was brought from Uruguay to Brazil in the context of illegal trafficking, a period in which the Brazilian Empire was internationally committed to granting freedom to Africans who were illegally enslaved. However, it is intended to highlight that the free status of Africans, even if recognized by the State, had many limits before and after the emancipation process. Considering the context of illicit slavery in the 19th century, it is concluded that the case of Rufina, despite being the only known case of an African illegally enslaved in Desterro, is above all evidence that these cases of illegal enslavement often did not reach justice. 19. Lesões e padrão das vítimas de acidentes de trânsito com motocicletas atendidas em uma unidade regional de emergência.

Introduction: The number of motorcycles, scooters and mopeds had a huge increase in Brazil, totaling 27 million in circulation in the year 2018. In the city of the present study, in the same year, these vehicles reached the number of 93 thousand representing 19.3% of the vehicle fleet. This expansion resulted in an increase in the number of traffic accidents involving these vehicles. Objectives: To characterize the victims of motorcycle accidents treated at a Regional Emergency Unit (Unidade Regional de Emergência -- URE) and describe their injuries. Methods: Observational and descriptive study. In the periods from August to December 2019 and June to August 2020, demographic data, the mechanism of injury, the location and severity of injuries and the prognosis of patients treated at the URE were analyzed. Trauma scores (Revised Trauma Score [RTS] and Injury Severity Score [ISS]) for severity and prognosis were applied. All data were recorded on standardized forms and statistically evaluated. Results: Of the 98 cases analyzed, 78% were male, with an average age of 31 years. The most frequent mechanism of injury was motorcycle versus motor vehicle accident, representing 57.1% of cases, followed by a fall from the motorcycle, with 27.6%. The most frequent injuries were abrasions (60.4%), followed by fractures (23.1%). The lower limbs were the most affected sites (40.3%). The ISS varied from 0 to 11, with a mode of 1, and 97.9% of the victims presented RTS equal to 7.8 with a probability of survival of 98.8%. Conclusion: There was a predominance of young males, with low severity injuries, and the most affected sites were the lower limbs, most of them showing abrasions. Even with a low severity and high probability of survival, these injuries can cause long periods of incapacity at work and cause costs to the health system, demonstrating the need for actions to prevent these events. Objective: to identify the factors associated with the pattern of alcohol consumption among motorcycle taxi drivers. Methods: cross-sectional study, carried out with 68 motorcycle taxi professionals. A socio-demographic questionnaire, work-related aspects, traffic accidents and the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification were used, for the pattern of alcohol use. The Chi-square and Fisher’s exact association tests were used for data analysis and logistic regression. Results: it was found that 48.5% consumed alcoholic beverages, 75.0% had low risk consumption, 16.2% risk, 7.4% harmful use and 1.5% possible dependence. The variables that obtained significance were naturalness, use of alcoholic beverages and quantity of drinks drunk in the day. Conclusion: there was a trend between naturalness and risky consumption. In addition, using alcoholic beverages monthly and the amount of doses greater than five doses, on the same day, increased 20 times and 10.0% more the chance of triggering problematic alcohol consumption.

This paper presents the SCAUP model (Multi-Agents Simulation from Urban sensors data for traffic Air Pollution). SCAUP aims at simulating a road traffic based on a data-driven approach in order to be close to observation on a wide set of theoretical road network. The data used in SCAUP are based on automatic traffic counting measurements done by electromagnetic loop sensors. The purpose of the proposed agent-based model is to simulate road traffic at the scale of a theoretical and controlled road network. In this paper, we present an overview of the sets of parameters, the overall simulation process and its analysis tests, in order to evaluate the SCAUP capacities to simulate a traffic flow pattern with two main input data: road network and traffic counting data.

The present work seeks to analyze how a roundabout in a metropolis in the Northeast is affected by the increase in traffic generated by the allocation of a pole that generates trips in its area. The work included a bibliographic survey on the subject and used sampling and observation in loco, following the methodology of the National Department of Transport Infrastructure - NDIT, counting the number of vehicles in the four points of the spine, as shown by noting the license plates of the vehicles that they entered and left the roundabout making a segmentation line every 15 minutes. The data were tabulated and analyzed with the aid of MS Excel ®. The results showed that if the current growth rate of 7% for the fleet is maintained, the service level during peak hours will drop sharply reaching the worst level in 2022. It has also been observed that failure to respect driving rules also causes delays and conflicts reducing traffic safety at the roundabout. The suggested proposals are the allocation of auxiliary time-saving mechanisms such as traffic lights and an educational campaign to maintain the level of service. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

24. Challenges of cooperation between the pre-hospital and in-hospital emergency services in the handover of victims of road traffic accidents: A qualitative study

Objective. To take a deep look at the challenges of cooperation between the pre-hospital and in-hospital emergency services in the handover of victims of road traffic accidents. Methods. This is a qualitative study and the method used is of content analysis type. Semi-structured interviews were used to collect the data. Through purposive sampling, fifteen employees from ambulance personnel and hospital emergency staff were selected and interviewed. They expressed their experiences of cooperation between these two teams in the handover of traffic accident casualties. The interviews were transcribed verbatim and content analysis method was used to explain and interpret the content of the interviews. Results. Three major categories were derived from the analysis of interviews: Shortage of infrastructure resources (Shortage of equipment, Shortage of physical space, and Shortage of manpower); Inefficient and unscientific management (Shaky accountability, Out-of-date information based activities, Poor motivation, and Manpower low productivity); and Non-common language (Difference in understanding and empathy, and Difference in training and experience). Conclusion. The obtained results of this study suggest that the careful planning of resources, the promotion of managerial practices as well as empowerment program of the staff, healthcare managers and policymakers can take a pace forward in order to enter into a hearty coordination between these two services for the attention of victims of road traffic accidents. 26. As cartas de Tell El-Amarna e o tráfico de mulheres em Canaã.

The 382 letters found at Tell El-Amarna reveal not only information about the Egypt's administrative political during the Late Bronze Age, but also information about the international transactions involving human lives. The purpose of this essay is to show, through the lines of El-Amarna's letters, how the traffic of women from Canaan to Egypt during this period worked. We have two situations: one is the traffic of women between Egypt and the great kingdoms, such as Assyria, Babylon and Mittani, and the other is the traffic of women from the city-states of Canaan to Egypt. In the first case, the traffic was through alliances between the kings that involved the marriage with the daughters of the royalty, which were sent to the harem of this or that king. In the second case, we have two situations again. The first is the sending of women, mostly teenagers, from city-states to Egypt. That is, the sending of women to Egypt for various purposes was one of the duties of the Canaanite vassal kings. The second situation is the purchase of women as skilled labor. Aclamados como o epítome técnico e simbólico da modernidade, os automóveis também estão profundamente implicados na produção da mudança climática, imbricados no interior de um sistema global capitalista aparentemente todo-poderoso. O que uma análise antropológica do trânsito em áreas urbanas pode nos dizer sobre a duradoura força desse sistema? Enquanto em Beirute os carros são ao mesmo tempo desejados quanto necessários para se deslocar, fortes sentimentos de frustração estão tomando corpo entre moradores e itinerantes que encaram diariamente as sempre congestionadas estradas da cidade-capital. Essa frustração indica uma emergente "estrutura de sentimento" para/com a automobilidade do dia a dia, que tem criado desejos explícitos e concretos por alternativas de mobilidade, particularmente pelo transporte público, cujos estudiosos do setor consideravam estar morto. Nessa visão, ainda que os carros permaneçam sendo objetos cobiçados, em Beirute como em qualquer outro lugar, um "excesso" de automobilidade - de modernidade, poderíamos dizer - está na verdade enfraquecendo o domínio deles, e expondo uma potencial precariedade antes despercebida. O reconhecimento desse processo nos força a reconsiderar os pressupostos modernistas que temos sobre a inevitável predominância dos carros, e oferece esperança para futuros alternativos quanto à mobilidade. Cars are celebrated as the technical and symbolic epitome of modernity but are also heavily implicated in the making of climate change, imbricated within a seemingly all‐powerful global capitalist system. What can na anthropological analysis of traffic in urban areas tell us about the enduring strength of this system? While cars in Beirut are both desired and necessary to move about, strong feelings of frustration are taking shape among residents and commuters who face the ever‐congested roads of the capital city daily. This mounting frustration indexes an emerging ‘structure of feeling’ towards everyday automobility that has created explicit and concrete desire for alternative mobilities, particularly public transport, which scholars of automobility had pronounced dead. In this light, while cars remain objects of desire, in Beirut as elsewhere, an ‘excess’ of automobility –of modernity, we might say –is in fact weakening the dominance of cars, exposing a potential brittleness previously undetected. Acknowledging this process forces us to reconsider our modernist assumptions about the inevitable predominance of cars and offers hope for alternative mobility futures. Les voitures sont célébrées comme l’incarnation technique et symbolique de la modernité, mais elles sont aussi fortement impliquées dans la fabrication du changement climatique, imbriquées dans un système capitaliste mondial apparemment tout‐puissant. Que peut nous apprendre une analyse anthropologique de la circulation dans les zones urbaines sur la force durable de ce sys- tème? Alors que les voitures à Beyrouth sont à la fois dési‐rées et nécessaires pour se déplacer, un fort sentiment de frustration se fait jour parmi les résidents et les navetteurs qui affrontent quotidiennement les routes toujours encombrées de la capitale. Cette frustration croissante indique l’émergence d’une « structure de sentiment » à l’égard de l’automobilité quotidienne qui a créé un désir explicite et concret de mobilité alternative, en particulier les transports publics, qui avaient été longtemps déclarés morts. Dans ce contexte, si les voitures restent des objets de désir, à Beyrouth comme ailleurs, un « excès » d’automobilité – de modernité, pourrait‐on dire – affaiblit en fait la domination des voitures, exposant une fragilité potentielle jusqu’alors non détectée. The unbridled growth of urban spaces brings a series of noticeable problems in both the urban and social landscapes being, disordered growth in peripheral areas, imbalance in income distribution socio-spatial segregation, among others. The objective of this work was to analyze the perception of urban mobility of users of public and private transport in the city of Manaus. Questionnaire with objective Google forms were applied to 182 users of private transport (cars and motorcycle) and collective passenger, aiming to analyse their perceptions about urban mobility in the capital of Amazonas. Users stated that Manauaras streets do not offer good traffic conditions and drivers are not prepared to deal with reality, drivers pointed out that more than 80% of accidents are caused by recklessness, although road conditions contribute and even though congestion on the main streets of the city is due to the large number of vehicles. They believe that increasing bike lanes as an alternative to reducing the number of motor vehicles would not be enough to achieve this goal, but investment in quality public transport, driver education, etc, would contribute to more sustainable urban mobility. It is a fact that there are no magical solutions, but the beginning by the education of the manauara driver for respect for signage, for example, it would be a significant and for reducing congestion, as well as reducing accidents and manaura’s stress in driving through the city roads and consequently the environmental problem formed by the whole. El crescimiento desenfrenado de los espacios urbanos trae consigo una série de problemas notables tanto en el paisaje urbano como en el social ser, cresimiento desordenado en áreas periféricas, desequilibrio en la distribución del ingreso, segregación socioespacial, entre otros. El objetivo de este trabajo fue analisar la percepción de la movilidad urbana de los usuarios del transporte público y privado en la ciudad de Manaus. Se aplicaron cuestionarios con preguntas objetivas a través de formularios de Google para 182 usuarios de transporte privado (automóviles y motocicletas) y pasajeros colectivos, analisar sus percepciones sobre la movilidad urbana en la capital de Amazonas. Los usuarios han declarado que las calles de manauaras no ofrecen buenas condiciones de tráfico y los conductores no están preparados para lidiar con la realidad, señalaron que más del 80% de los accidentes son causados por imprudencia, aunque las condiciones de la carretera contribuyen y apesar de que los atascos en la principales calles de la ciudad se deben a la gran cantidad de vehículos. Creen que aumentar los carriles para bicicletas como alternativa a la reducción del número de vehículos motorizados no sería suficiente para lograr este objetivo, pero la inversión en transporte público de calidad, educación vial, etc, contribuiría a una movilidad urbana más sostenible. Es un hecho que no hay soluciones mágicas, pero el início por la educación del conductor de Manauara por el respeto de la siñalización, por ejemplo, sería una ayuda significativa para la reducción de la congestión, así como la reducción de accidentes y estrés de manauara en la conducción por las carreteras de la ciudad y en concecuencia el problema ambiental formado por el conjunto. O crescimento desenfreado dos espaços urbanos traz uma série de problemas perceptíveis tanto na paisagem urbana quanto no social sendo, crescimento desordenado em áreas periféricas, desequilíbrio na distribuição de renda, segregação socioespacial, entre outros. O objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar a percepção da mobilidade urbana dos usuários de transporte coletivo e particular da cidade de Manaus. Aplicaram-se questionários com questões objetivas via Google formulários para 182 usuários do transporte particular (carros e motos) e coletivo de passageiros, visando analisar suas percepções acerca da mobilidade urbana na capital amazonense. Os usuários afirmaram que as ruas Manauaras não oferecem boas condições de trafegabilidade e os condutores não estão preparados para lidar com a realidade, os mesmos apontaram que mais de 80% dos acidentes são causados por imprudência, embora condições das vias contribuam e ainda que os congestionamentos nas principais ruas da cidade se devam a grande quantidade de veículos. Eles acreditam que, o aumento de ciclovias, como alternativa para redução da quantidade de veículos automotor, não seria suficiente para alcançar este objetivo, mas o investimento em transporte coletivo de qualidade, educação dos condutores etc., contribuiriam para uma mobilidade urbana mais sustentável. É fato que não existem soluções mágicas, mas o início pela educação do condutor manauara para o respeito a sinalização, por exemplo, seria uma ajuda significativa para a diminuição dos congestionamentos, assim como a diminuição de acidentes e estresse do manauara em dirigir pelas vias da cidade e consequentemente do problema ambiental formado pelo conjunto.

Esse estudo objetivou compreender os índices a faixa etária das vítimas, e os motivos que levam a ocorrer os acidentes, como infrações, excesso de velocidade, bebidas alcoólicas e os danos que os acidentes de trânsito causam, não só para as vítimas e seus familiares, bem como os danos a saúde pública, de modo que o Brasil ocupa a quinta posição do rankin mundial em acidentes de trânsito, tendo em vista que os indivíduos mais vulneraveis são os motociclistas devido estarem mais expostos ao ambiente, gerando uma considerável demanda por serviços de saúde, acarretando na perda produtiva e altos custos socioeconômicos, observando que as lesões mais comuns foram ortopédicas em membros inferiores e neurológica, como traumatismo crânio encefálico (TCE), que pode ocasionar na incapacidade na realização das atividades de vida diária. Apresenta também a importancia da fisioterapia e as técnicas mais utilizadas, com o intuito de diminuir as possíveis sequelas, o tempo de hospitalização, e reíntegra-lo a sociedade, oferecendo uma melhor qualidade de vida. This study aimed to understand the indexes, the age group of the victims, and the reasons that lead to accidents, such as infractions, speeding, alcoholic beverages and the damage that traffic accidents cause, not only for the victims and their families, as well as damage to public health, so that Brazil occupies the fifth position in the world ranking in traffic accidents, considering that the most vulnerable individuals are motorcyclists due to being more exposed to the environment, generating a considerable demand for services of health, resulting in productive loss and high socioeconomic costs, noting that the most common injuries were orthopedic in the lower limbs and neurological, such as traumatic brain injury (TBI), which can lead to inability to perform activities of daily living. It also presents the importance of physiotherapy and the most used techniques, in order to reduce possible sequel, hospitalization time, and reintegrate it into society, offering a better quality of life. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo comprender los índices, el grupo de edad de las víctimas y las causas que conducen a los accidentes, como infracciones, exceso de velocidad, bebidas alcohólicas y los daños que los accidentes de tránsito causan, no solo para las víctimas y sus familias, sino también para salud pública, por lo que Brasil ocupa la quinta posición en el ranking mundial de accidentes de tránsito, considerando que los más vulnerables son los motociclistas por estar más expuestos al medio ambiente, generando una demanda considerable de servicios de salud, resultando en pérdida productiva y alta costos socioeconómicos, destacando que las lesiones más frecuentes fueron las ortopédicas en los miembros inferiores y las neurológicas, como el traumatismo craneoencefálico (TCE), que puede derivar en incapacidad para realizar las actividades de la vida diaria. También presenta la importancia de la fisioterapia y las técnicas más utilizadas, con el fin de disminuir posibles secuelas, tiempo de hospitalización, y reintegrarlo a la sociedad, ofreciendo una mejor calidad de vida.

Objective: to characterize road traffic accidents based on the services provided in public reference hospitals of the state of Santa Catarina. Method: descriptive, quantitative research. Data of the accidents were collected from July to September 2015 through the use of a structured form. The sample consisted of 139 medical records of two emergency units. Descriptive statistics was applied in the analysis. Results: the accidents mainly involved men (n=112; 80.6%), aged from 20 to 29 years (n=53; 38.2%). There was a predominance of car/motorcycle accidents (n=44; 31.7%) on Fridays (n=27; 19.4%) in the evening (n=11; 7.9%). Lower limbs represented the most commonly body segment individually affected (n=49; 35.2%). In most accidents (n=95; 68.3%) the patient remained hospitalized for at least 24 hours. Conclusion: preventive measures for road traffic accidents should be especially focused on young men that use cars and motorcycles, with an emphasis on traffic control actions on the eve of weekends and actions promoting the use of safety equipment.

- Abstract
Mortality from external causes is considered a serious economic, social and public health problem. The main cause of death in the world is cardiorespiratory arrest, in Brazil this is mainly due to the lack of knowledge of basic life support. The victim's care and evaluation should be performed quickly and effectively, which will influence the survival and presence of sequelae. In this way, the importance of knowledge and practical implementation of basic life support in the evaluation of obtaining the license to drive vehicles, considering that these future drivers will be the potential audience that will witness these accidents and may start the aid more quickly, and with the appropriate knowledge, more effectively. Systematic review methodology. Empowering the population that is involved in the middle of traffic occupies a strategic position to promote victim assistance. 35. Álcool e direção: uma abordagem preventiva entre clientes de bares.

- Abstract
Objective: To identify in bar customers risk attitudes and to make them be aware about the dangers of these behaviors via preventive approach. Method: Descriptive transversal study carried out with 119 bar customers interviewed in May 2016, in Ilhéus, Bahia, Brazil. A semi-structured questionnaire was used about the following variables: gender, ethnicity, age, educational level, habit of using seat belts, alcohol consumption at the time of the interview, the vehicle driving responsibility during the period of the interview, habit of drunk driving, traffic accident history in alcohol effect and place of residence. During the questionnaire, a preventive approach was taken on the risks of drunk driving and without a seat belt. Results: There was a predominance of male individuals (53.8%), Caucasians (41.4%), and mean age of 27, whose age ranged from 25 to 34 years old made up more than half the sample (52.9%), and enrolled in college (47.8%). Most of the interviewees used seat belts while drivers (76.4%) or as passengers (72.2%). Prevailed interviewees who were consuming alcoholic beverages in the interview (73.9%), with predominance of those who would not drive vehicles after leaving the establishment (57.9%). Predominated drivers who have the habit of driving under the influence of alcohol (64.7%), among which an important part was already involved in a traffic accident as a result of this practice (17.6%). The majority of the interviewees resided in Ilhéus (71.4%). Conclusion: Drunk driving is still a common practice. However, the interviewees were receptive to preventive interventions about traffic accidents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Knowing the perception of the population of a capital of central Brazil, considering the safety and mobility in traffic was the objective of this study. The studies about slavery in Brazil has been advanced, however, some gaps still needs to be filled. One is to approach the non-central ports of atlantic slaves trade, for example of Paraíba. Other gap is the internal slave trade existing before 1850, period that atlantic slave trade finished and internal trade intensifies.

Todavia, para implementar essa categoria de solução, é necessário extrair informações do ambiente. O advento do processamento digital de imagens e das redes neurais convolucionais possibilitaram a extração de dados de forma menos problemática comparado a métodos mais tradicionais, como a instalação de sensores nas pistas. Utilizando imagens é possível extrair diferentes categorias de dados, como a quantidade de veículos em uma faixa, tempo que ficam parados e também a categoria que este trabalho se propõe a extrair, a origem e destino dos veículos em cruzamentos. Com motivação gerada a partir da necessidade de obter dados para resolver problemas ligados ao tráfego, este trabalho contribuí com um pipeline completo para processamento de imagens em cruzamentos de tráfego filmados com angulação aérea. O pipeline detecta veículos, identifica suas trajetórias e metrifica as origens e destinos, diferenciado-se assim dos trabalhos da literatura pesquisados. Como método de avaliação, cada módulo do pipeline foi metrificado. O modelo detector atingiu o resultado de IDP 77,5% e IDR de 95,8%. O algoritmo rastreador obteve um resultado de MOTA 72,6% e MOTP 74,4%. Dado que cada módulo do pipeline depende do outro, o resultado geral é visto através da metrificação do terceiro, origens e destinos. Traffic systems are fundamental in the development of cities. However, these systems increasingly suffer from problems such as congestion. Problems like this can increase fuel consumption and air pollution. In addition, it directly affects people’s health. For example, studies indicate that exposure to traffic is a factor that collaborates with the early stages of myocardial infarction. An efficient way to reduce this problem category is to perform traffic light control intelligently by reinforcement learning or traffic management algorithms. However, it becomes necessary to extract information from the environment to implement this solution category. The advent of digital image processing and convolutional neural networks made it possible to extract data in a less problematic way compared to more traditional methods, such as installing sensors on the tracks. Using images, it is possible to extract different categories of data, such as the number of vehicles in a lane, the time they are stopped, and the category that this work proposes to extract, the origin and destination of vehicles at intersections. With motivation generated from the need to obtain data to solve problems related to traffic, this work contributes with a complete pipeline for image processing in traffic intersections filmed with aerial angle. The pipeline detects vehicles, identifies their trajectories, and metrifies origins and destinations, thus differentiating itself from the researched works in the literature. The pipeline consists of three main blocks. A custom YOLO (You Only Look Once) convolutional neural network capable of detecting vehicles in aerial angled footage. The second block has the implementation of a tracking method referenced in the literature whose objective is to attribute identity to vehicles in all frames. Finally, the third block is called origins and destinations, whose objective is to measure the number of vehicles that pass through a single location in the scene and extract the number of vehicles by the route. As an evaluation method, each block of the pipeline was metric. The detector model reached the result of IDP 77.5% and IDR of 95.8%. The tracking algorithm obtained a result of MOTA 72.6% and MOTP 74.4%. Since each block of the pipeline depends on the other, the overall result is seen through the metrification of the third, "origins and destinations". This step is evaluated in two phases, the first being the number of vehicles that pass through a single point in the scene, where the average OD Error% is 1.80% and the average OD Error% for routes it is 7.53%.

This study aims to evaluate the microdrainage system and how its deficiency impacts the shopkeepers and traffic in the Barros e Almeida Avenue in the city of Santo Antônio de Jesus - Bahia. A survey was conducted in order to identify the impacts caused by flooding and how they affect local businesses. Using flow rate calculations, it was determined that the number of existing manholes in the region is sufficient to meet the demand, however, their state of conservation and irregularities reduce their drainage capacity. It is understood that both citizens and public administration have responsibilities over the drainage system. This study points out how the lack of maintenance of the microdrainage system can be a potential adversity to businesses and commerce. Furthermore, the education of the population is important for its good functioning.

40. Trânsito e ansiedade:: Estudo longitudinal com candidatos à obtenção da carteira nacional de habilitação no sul do Brasil

Recently, Traffic Psychology has been interested in studying the process for obtaining drivers’ license. Anxiety has also been the object of research and study in the context of evaluations and tests of this process. This study aimed to investigate the influence of anxiety on the approvals and not approvals of the process for drivers’ license in the Porto Alegre city, Brazil. A sample of 189 first driving license candidates, from 18 to 66 years old (M = 27.25; SD = 10.45, 48.1% female), answered socio-demographic questions and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI). The results suggest that the levels of schooling do not influence the approval, as far as the theoretical evidence is concerned. In the practical test, half of the sample was approved on the first try and the remaining candidates varied between two and five attempts for approval. Recentemente, a Psicologia do Trânsito esteve interessada em estudar a obtenção da Carteira Nacional de Habilitação (CNH). A ansiedade é um dos fatores que também vêm sendo objeto de pesquisa e estudo nos contextos de avaliações e provas deste processo. O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar a influência da ansiedade nas aprovações e não aprovações do processo de obtenção à CNH na cidade de Porto Alegre, Brasil. Uma amostra de 189 candidatos à primeira habilitação da CNH com idades entre 18 e 66 anos de idade (M = 27,25; DP = 10,45, 48,1% do sexo feminino) responderam a um questionário sociodemográfico e o Inventário de Ansiedade de Beck (BAI). Os resultados sugerem que os níveis de escolaridade não influenciam a aprovação, no que diz respeito às provas teóricas. Na prova prática, metade da amostra conseguiu ser aprovada na primeira tentativa e os demais candidatos variaram entre duas e cinco tentativas para aprovação.

O álcool pode ser considerado uma substância que propicia a integração entre os indivíduos por possuir características facilitadoras das interações sociais. Porém, apesar de estar atrelado a festividades e celebrações, o consumo nocivo dessa substância pode estar associado a diversos agravos de saúde e até à morte. O beber pesado e o beber e dirigir se configuram como dois comportamentos prejudiciais à saúde que são monitorados em âmbito nacional e internacional para prover subsídios às políticas públicas no enfrentamento dos problemas de saúde provocados pelo uso do álcool. A presente tese tem o objetivo de analisar o hábito de beber pesado e o comportamento de beber e dirigir, investigando suas características sociodemográficas e os fatores associados a esses hábitos. Trata-se de um estudo transversal que utilizou dados de duas edições da Pesquisa Nacional de Saúde (PNS), realizadas em 2013 e 2019, e dados da Secretaria Nacional de Trânsito (SENATRAN). Foi possível verificar que 6,1% (IC95% 5,8 – 6,4%) dos brasileiros tinham o hábito de beber pesado em 2013 e 7,3% (IC95% 6,9 – 7,6%) em 2019. Nas duas edições da PNS observou-se um gradiente de diminuição do beber pesado durante a vida, com as maiores prevalências entre os adultos jovens, entre os homens, com baixo nível de escolaridade, entre os solteiros e residentes da área urbana. Os dados também mostraram que a prevalência do hábito de beber e dirigir foi maior entre os homens em 2013 (27,4%; IC95% 25,6 – 29,3%) e 2019 (20,5%; IC95% 19,4 – 21,7%) do que entre as mulheres (11,9%; IC95% 9,9 – 14,2% e 7,2%; IC95% 6,7 – 9,0%, respectivamente) e que estimativas significativamente mais altas foram apresentadas por pessoas de 30 a 39 anos, que vivem sem companheiro(a), residentes em áreas rurais, condutores de motocicleta. Maiores prevalências de beber e dirigir foram encontradas entre homens que possuem maior rendimento. Entre 2013 e 2019, foi observado um decréscimo significativo no beber e dirigir em todas as Unidades da Federação (UF), exceto no Tocantins. As análises também mostraram baixas aplicações de infrações em partes da região Norte e no Nordeste, no ano de 2019. Os resultados encontrados nessa tese expõem a necessidade de maiores intervenções para combater o consumo nocivo de álcool, adotando estratégia para diminuir o beber pesado e beber e dirigir nos subgrupos populacionais mais vulneráveis Alcohol can be considered a substance that promotes integration between individuals as it has characteristics that facilitate social interactions. However, despite being linked to festivities and celebrations, the harmful consumption of this substance can be associated with various health problems and even death. Heavy drinking and drinking and driving are configured as two harmful habits that are monitored at the national level to provide useful information to face health problems caused by the use of alcohol. The present thesis aims to analyze the habit of heavy drinking and the behavior of drinking and driving, investigating their sociodemographic characteristics and the factors associated with these behaviors. This is a cross-sectional study that used data from two editions of the National Health Survey (Pesquisa Nacional de Saúde -PNS em português), carried out in 2013 and 2019, and data from the National Traffic Department (SENATRAN). We estimated that 6.1% (95%CI 5.8 – 6.4%) of Brazilians had the habit of heavy drinking in 2013 and 7.3% (95%CI 6.9 – 7.6%) in 2019. In both editions of the PNS, there was a decreasing gradient in heavy drinking during life, with the highest prevalence among young adults, among men with a low level of education, among single people and residents of urban areas. The data also showed that the prevalence of drinking and driving was higher among men in 2013 (27.4%; 95%CI 25.6 - 29.3%) and 2019 (20.5%; 95%CI 19.4 – 21.7%) than among women (11.9%; 95%CI 9.9 – 14.2% and 7.2%; 95%CI 6.7 – 9.0%, respectively). The highest rates were reported by people aged 30 to 39 years, living without a partner, living in rural areas, and motorcycle riders. Higher prevalence estimates of drinking and driving were found among men with higher socioeconomic levels. Between 2013 and 2019, a significant decrease in drinking and driving was observed in all Federation Units (FU), except Tocantins. The analyzes also showed low infraction applications in parts of the North and Northeast regions, in the year 2019. The results found in this thesis expose the need for greater interventions to combat harmful alcohol consumption, adopting strategies to reduce heavy drinking and drinking and driving in the most vulnerable population subgroups

Resumo O sono e o estresse podem influenciar a qualidade de vida de profissionais que atuam em contextos laborais, que oferecem riscos de violências, tais como o trânsito. Este estudo objetivou avaliar a qualidade do sono, o estresse e a qualidade de vida de motoristas profissionais das cidades brasileiras de Petrolina (PE) e Juazeiro (BA). Os participantes (317, 99,1% do sexo masculino), cuja idade variou entre 21 e 65 anos, responderam a Escala de Sonolência Epworth, o Índice de Pittsburgh, o Inventário de Sintomas de Stress para Adultos, o WHOQOL-BREF e um questionário estruturado. Os resultados indicaram que a maioria dos motoristas tem boa qualidade de vida e que a sonolência diurna excessiva e a qualidade ruim de sono ocorreram em taxas menores que aquelas observadas em estudos internacionais. Já o estresse apresentou prevalência similar à de outros estudos na área. Ademais, melhor qualidade de vida e boa qualidade do sono se associaram, enquanto o sono ruim se associou à presença de estresse na fase de resistência. Os resultados apontam, ainda, para o impacto que as variáveis aqui investigadas têm sobre a atividade laboral desses motoristas e para a necessidade de ações de intervenção em seu contexto de trabalho, tendo em vista que esses profissionais lidam cotidianamente com o transporte de pessoas, em meio à realidade tão violenta do trânsito brasileiro. Abstract Sleep and stress can influence people’s quality of life of professionals working in labour contexts, which, in turn, involve risk of violence, such as traffic. This study aimed to evaluate quality of sleep, stress and quality of life of professional drivers of the Brazilian municipalities of Petrolina (state of Pernambuco) and Juazeiro (state of Bahia). The participants (317, and 99.1% male), aged between 21 and 65 years, answered the Epworth Sleepiness Scale, the Pittsburgh Index, the Stress Symptom Inventory for Adults, the WHOQOL-BREF, and a structured questionnaire. The results indicate that most drivers have a good quality of life, and that excessive daytime sleepiness and poor sleep quality were present at lower rates than those observed in international studies, whereas stress had a prevalence similar to other studies in the field. Furthermore, better quality of life and good quality of sleep were associated, whereas poor sleep was associated with the presence of stress in the resistance phase. Results also point to the impact that the variables investigated here have on the work activity of these drivers and the need for intervention actions in their work context, considering that these professionals transport people every day amid the violent reality of Brazilian traffic. Resumen La calidad del sueño y el estrés pueden influir en la calidad de vida de los profesionales que trabajan en contextos de riesgo y violencia, como el tránsito. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar la calidad del sueño, la calidad de vida y el estrés en conductores profesionales de las ciudades brasileñas de Petrolina (en el estado de Pernambuco) y Juazeiro (en el estado de Bahía). Los participantes (317, el 99,1% del sexo masculino), con edades comprendidas entre 21 y 65 años, respondieron la Escala de Somnolencia de Epworth, el Índice de Pittsburgh, el Inventario de Síntomas de Estrés para Adultos, el WHOQOL-BREF y un cuestionario estructurado. Los resultados indican que la mayoría de los conductores tienen una buena calidad de vida y que la somnolencia diurna excesiva y la mala calidad del sueño se presentaron a tasas más bajas que las observadas en estudios internacionales. Por otro lado, el estrés tuvo una prevalencia similar a la de otros estudios en el campo. Además, se asociaron una mejor calidad de vida y una buena calidad del sueño, mientras que el mal sueño se asoció con la presencia de estrés en la fase de resistencia. Los resultados apuntan al impacto que las variables investigadas tienen sobre la actividad laboral de estos conductores y a la necesidad de acciones de intervención en su contexto laboral, considerando que estos profesionales transportan a personas todos los días en medio de la realidad violenta del tránsito brasileño.

- Abstract
The current problems of urban mobility are related to the precariousness of collective transportation services and the prioritization of the use of individual motorized transport to the detriment of the collective. The objective of this study was to analyze, in the perceptions of the users of alternative transportation that make the route Campina Grande / Alagoa Nova, what factors determine their choice for this type of transportation. The methodology used was characterized as a kind of applied work, as aimed to generate knowledge for practical application, directed to the solution of specific problems involving truths and local interests. The results of the investigation revealed three issues that can be considered as determining factors in the users' perception of the choice of alternative transportation that makes the Campina Grande / Alagoa Nova - PB route. The ease of movement in a timely manner indicator related to the speed and carrying capacity; the welfare condition related to safety indicators; price and air conditioning; and the hygiene condition associated with the comfort and cleaning indicators. OBJECTIVE: To verify the frequency of positive Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) among drivers and to examine associated factors in a cross-sectional study of Brazilian state capitals. METHODS: 3,398 drivers were approached on highways crossing all 27 Brazilian capitals from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. (Fridays and Saturdays). They were breathalyzed and data on their driving characteristics and alcohol consumption were collected. Multivariate logistic regression following a hierarchical conceptual framework was used to evaluate associated factors. RESULTS: The overall weighted prevalence of positive BAC (> 0.1 mg/L) was 4.2%. The multivariate analysis showed that education up to 8 years (OR = 2.0; 95% CI: 1.4-3.0), age > 30 years (OR = 2.6; 95% CI: 1.8-3.8), type of vehicle (cars: OR = 3.0; 95% CI: 1.7-5.1; motorcycles: OR = 3.7; 95% CI: 2.1-6.4), binge drinking (OR = 1.7; 95% CI: 1.3-2.4), having been breathalyzed before (OR = 2.6; 95% CI: 1.8-3.7), and purpose of the trip (coming from a party: OR = 1.9; 95% CI: 1.3-3.0; leisure trip: OR = 1.7; 95% CI: 1.32.4; driving after 8 p.m.: OR = 1.7; 95% CI: 1.3-2.3) were independently associated with DUI. CONCLUSION: Study findings suggest that selected external environmental factors, such as socioeconomic and demographic characteristics as well as personal characteristics like alcohol consumption and the relationship between drinking and driving were associated with positive BAC among Brazilian drivers. Results can help to inform drinking and driving policy and preventive approaches.OBJETIVO: Verificar a frequência de alcoolemia positiva entre os motoristas e examinar fatores associados em um estudo transversal nas capitais brasileiras. MÉTODOS: 3.398 motoristas foram abordados em rodovias que atravessam todas as 27 capitais brasileiras nos horários entre 12:00 e 00:00 (sextas e sábados). Eles realizaram o teste do etilômetro e foram coletados dados sobre suas características de condução e consumo de álcool. Para avaliar os fatores associados, foi realizada uma regressão logística multivariável seguindo um quadro conceitual hierárquico. RESULTADOS: A prevalência de alcoolemia positiva (> 0,1 mg/L) foi de 4,2%. A regressão logística múltipla mostrou que educação (até 8 anos de estudo: OR = 2,0; IC 95%: 1,4-3,0), idade (> 30 anos: OR = 2,6; IC 95%: 1,8-3,8), tipo de veículo (dirigir um carro: OR = 3,0; IC 95%: 1,7-5,1; conduzir uma motocicleta: OR = 3,7; IC 95%: 2,1-6,4), consumo excessivo de álcool (OR = 1,7; IC 95%: 1,3-2,4), ter realizado o teste do etilômetro anteriormente (OR = 2,6; IC 95%: 1,8-3,7), e a finalidade da viagem (retorno de uma festa: OR = 1,9; IC 95%:1,3-3,0; viagem de lazer: OR = 1,7; IC 95%: 1,3-2,4; e estar dirigindo após as 20 horas: OR = 1,7; IC 95%: 1,3-2,3) foram independentemente associados com o dirigir sob influência de álcool. CONCLUSÃO: Os resultados sugerem que fatores ambientais externos selecionados, tais como características socioeconômicas e demográficas, bem como características pessoais, como o consumo de álcool e comportamento em relação a beber e dirigir, foram associados com alcoolemia positiva entre os motoristas brasileiros. Os resultados podem ajudar a orientar políticas em relação a beber e dirigir e abordagens preventivas.

50. High-risk behaviors and experiences with traffic law among night drivers in Curitiba, Brazil

Objective: To explore high-risk behaviors and experiences with traffic law among night drivers in Curitiba, Brazil. Method: Data from 398 drivers on sociodemographic parameters, high-risk behaviors, experiences with traffic law, and traffic law violations were collected through interviews conducted at sobriety checkpoints. Exploratory-descriptive and analytical statistics were used. Results: The mean age of the participants was 32.6±11.2 years (range, 18 to 75 years). Half of the drivers reported having driven after drinking in the last year, predominantly single men aged 18 to 29 years who drive cars and drink alcohol frequently. Only 55% of the drivers who had driven after drinking in the last year self-reported some concern about being detected in a police operation. Conclusions: A significant association was found between sociodemographic variables and behavior, which can help tailor public interventions to a specific group of drivers: young men who exhibit high-risk behaviors in traffic, such as driving after drinking alcohol, some of whom report heavy alcohol consumption. This group represents a challenge for educational and enforcement interventions, particularly because they admit to violating current laws and have a low perception of punishment due to the low risk of being detected by the police.
