Objective: To analyze variables related to the scheduling of outpatient appointments that did not take place due to patient no-show. Methods: Cross-sectional study conducted in a tertiary public referral hospital providing services to the Brazilian Unified Health System. A total of 493 patients were randomly selected, and the final sample totaled 317 no-show patients. Variables investigated: receipt of messages via cell phones informing the appointment date, interval between the scheduling date and the appointment date, and rescheduling. Data were obtained from computerized reports regarding absenteeism from scheduled appointments and telephone interviews. Statistical analyses were performed using the SAS® for Windows software, version 9.3. Results: 49.8% of patients reported not having received a message reminding them of the appointment dates. The interval between scheduling and the appointment dates was from 180 to 365 days for 36.6% of patients. A total of 24.6% of patients rescheduled their appointments. Conclusion: It is necessary to expand procedures to prevent missed appointments regardless of the time between scheduling and the appointment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introdução: A obesidade é um problema de saúde pública mundial. Fatores como tabagismo, sedentarismo, etilismo e alimentação inadequada são considerados fatores de risco modificáveis relacionados à doença. Objetivo: Avaliar o perfil nutricional e os fatores associados em adultos e idosos de São Luís-MA, segundo dados do inquérito telefônico Vigitel 2020. Materiais e métodos: Estudo transversal, de base populacional, com 2.065 pessoas entrevistadas pelo inquérito telefônico Vigitel (2020), em São Luís, Maranhão. As informações utilizadas foram: sociodemográficas; alimentação; atividade física; tempo de tela; tabagismo; bebidas alcoólicas; peso e altura. Para avaliar a associação entre as variáveis categóricas foi utilizado o teste de Qui-Quadrado. As associações entre exposição e desfecho pela regressão de Poisson com variância robusta (p<0,05). Resultados: Foram observadas elevadas prevalências de sobrepeso e obesidade nos homens (sobrepeso: 37,85%; obesidade: 20,03%) e nas mulheres (sobrepeso: 27,62%; obesidade: 14,91%) adultos. Nos idosos, a prevalência de excesso de peso foi de 26,51% nos homens e de 40,51%, nas mulheres. As variáveis associadas ao excesso de peso na idade adulta foram: ter companheiro(a) (p<0,0001), escolaridade de zero a oito anos (p=0,036) e consumo abusivo de álcool (p=0,004). Nos idosos, somente o hábito de assistir televisão por um tempo maior ou igual a três horas diárias mostrou-se como fator de risco ao excesso de peso (p=0,021). Conclusão: Assim, verificou-se elevada prevalência de excesso de peso, sobretudo, nos homens adultos e nas mulheres idosas. Os fatores modificáveis associados ao excesso de peso revelam a importância de intervenções estruturais e de saúde no enfrentamento da doença. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To identify in the literature the use of Telemedicine as a resource in promoting mental health care in Primary Health Care. Methods: This is an integrative review, based on the Prisma protocol. Data were collected in the Virtual Health Library and in the International Health Sciences Literature. The data were operationalized by the Iramuteq® software. Results: The review, 27 articles, the convergence between the organization of the software and the analysis of the works had resulted in four classes: Telephone calls in the promotion of mental health care; Technological resources as allies for mental health care for children and adolescents; Telemedicine as a tool to minimize barriers in mental health care; and Perspectives for the use of Telemedicine in Mental Health care in Primary Health Care. While the telegraph reached the territory of the state of Goiás (Brazil) in 1890, the first records of the installation of telephones in the state refer to the year 1914. Unlike the telegraph network, with guidance initiated by military geostrategy, the first telephone circuits emerged through much more spontaneous and punctual initiatives. The on-screen study addresses the genesis of telecommunications networks in Goiás based on the emergence of telegraph and telephone in the late nineteenth and early 20th centuries, respectively. The methodological procedures were based on meticulous work of collecting secondary data in historical documents, official publications, such as statistical yearbooks and reports on IBGE telephone companies, Telebrás Management Reports and information contained in journals published between 1842 and 1940. The results reveal the economic and geostrategic determinations that led the internalization of telecommunications networks towards the corners of Central Brazil, within the scope of the establishment of these reticular devices as indispensable elements to the system of control, appropriation, and integration of Brazilian regional diversity. Objective: Analyze the influence of sex on health conditions, lifestyle and use of medical services in patients admitted to a teaching hospital. Methods: A quantitative and cross-sectional study was carried out by telephone survey with 445 patients admitted to a university hospital in 2018. Sex was considered as a dependent variable and as independent variables: the characteristics of health, lifestyle and use of health services. Bivariate analysis and logistic regression were performed. Results: There was an association between male gender and current addiction (OR = 2.9) or prior to alcohol (OR = 8.3), length of stay above three and seven days (OR = 2.7) and the longest referral to the primary health care unit (OR = 2.1). Conclusion: It was concluded that men have a higher predilection for alcohol use, stay longer hospitalized and have more referrals to health services. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article proposes to analyze the challenges that imprisoned women face in maintaining family, affective and sexual contact. This reflection is based on a comparative analysis between Brazil and Portugal. In both countries, there is primacy of surveillance, which means reduced contact possibilities, lack of privacy during visits, and limitations or prohibitions on telephone contacts. Notwithstanding the differences between contexts, it is therefore clear that maintaining ties during imprisonment is a challenge in both countries, suggesting the need for change so that prisoners' rights can be guaranteed. In this paper, we analyze the problem of separating two interleaved phone books, and propose an alternative configuration that is equivalent to removing their spines. This article describes the validation of the Stroke Self-Efficacy Questionnaire Brazil (SSEQ-B) through telephone administration in individuals with chronic post-stroke. The study included 50 participants with a mean age of 56 years, of which 46% were men. The results showed that there were no statistically significant differences between the total scores of the questionnaire when administered in person or over the phone. Additionally, there was a moderate to high agreement between the two forms of questionnaire administration. It is concluded that the SSEQ-B is valid for assessing self-efficacy over the phone in individuals with chronic post-stroke. [Extracted from the article]

The article discusses the validation of the Duke Activity Status Index (DASI) questionnaire for assessing functional capacity (FC) in individuals after chronic stroke through telephone. The study included 50 participants with a mean age of 56 years and found no statistically significant differences in the total questionnaire score between face-to-face and telephone applications. Purpose: to know elderly perception of hearing aids use given by the health system (SUS). Methods: qualitative study. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with 19 subjects with age ranging from 60 to 86 years, with binaural adaptation and using hearing aids from six months to one year. The interviews were recorded and transcribed for further reading and thematic analysis. The settled categories were: Difficulties of communication without hearing aids; The Access to the hearing aids and The Adaptation Process; The impact of hearing aids use in communication. Results: communication difficulty is higher in situations where there are many people talking; the difficulty is not in listening but in understanding; they show concern about distinguishing what they feel being deaf. Most subjects did not have previous hearing aids adaptation due to financial difficulties and revealed that their access to hearing aids was through implementation of Hearing Health Care Service. The difficulties concerning the adaptation process were: changing the perception of their own voice, difficulty in understanding the communication in noisy environment and on the phone. They reported the benefits of hearing aids use in communication with relatives and strangers. Conclusion: the monitoring process importance is highlighted so that the difficulties for adjustment can be effectively detected and minimized.
