PROFESSIONAL ethics , *BUSINESSPEOPLE , *FRAUD , *ACCOUNTING standards , *CONFLICT of interests - Abstract
The Brazilian Accounting Standard - Accountant's Professional Code of Ethics, approved at the Plenary of the Federal Accounting Council, on February 7, 2019, states that when it is not possible for the individual to eliminate the conflict of interest in a situation, he must act so as not to jeopardize their professional independence. The objective of this study is to discuss the ethical aspects of conduct and behavior of the accountant, analyzing conflicts of the entrepreneur-accountant relationship, through the theoretical assumptions of the Agency Theory. Therefore, the parameters of the Accountant's Code of Professional Ethics are adopted. To support the study, examples of fraud cases that have occurred in recent years are discussed. In the approach considered, the entrepreneur assumes the role of "principal" with an interest focused on the economic result of the company and the accountant assumes the figure of "agent", whose concern goes beyond the maintenance of employment, involving moral, ethical and conduct. As a result, it can be inferred that the Agency Theory has great potential to explain the entrepreneur-accountant conflict. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

DRUG side effects , *MEDICAL personnel , *SCIENTIFIC literature , *SCIENCE databases , *PROFESSIONAL ethics - Abstract
Corticosteroids are potent anti-inflammatories and immunomodulators used to treat various clinical conditions, including several that require chronic use of these drugs, placing patients at risk of complications and adverse effects. In this context, the objective of this study was to review the scientific literature on the harmful effects and consequences resulting from prolonged use or high doses of corticosteroids. For this purpose, a bibliographical search was carried out in the MEDLINE, LILACS and SCIENCE DIRECT databases and original articles and case reports published between 2017 and 2023 were selected for in-depth reading, with seven articles being included in the present review. The results indicate that there is an accumulation of damage related to corticosteroids over time of use, in addition to the association of these drugs with various side effects. The importance of the responsibility of health professionals is highlighted in prescribing corticosteroids only when strictly necessary, in a cautious manner, as well as monitoring patients under chronic use of these drugs. The research object that generated material for analysis in this article is ethics, understood here as an aspect of human praxis, a capacity of the social being that projects human emancipation. The article's goal is to reflect on human emancipation, particularly regarding ethics in a professional context. Some summarized results of the investigation carried out at CRESS-PR will be presented, through documentary research with the files of ethical violation reports from 2013 to 2018, when the processing of ethical violation reports in social work was observed. To guide the documentary research with the material in CRESSPR, carried out with approval from the research ethics committee, a bibliographical review was carried out, identifying elements that support the debate on ethics in the Marxian tradition, considering the social work collection on the subject. TRANSLATORS , *MOTHERS - Abstract
The aim for this research came from my experiences as a mother and interpreter teacher. The challenges faced during this trajectory brought up the following issue: what is the reality and how to cope with emotional issues experienced by the mother of a deaf child who works as a language interpreter. To answer this problem, the general objective was to analyze how the interpreter subject is constituted as a deaf mother, and, to achieve this objective, the methodology of an ethnographic nature was outlined. The research included the participation of nine mothers who are translators and interpreters. The analysis of the research used a qualiquantitative approach and the instrument used for data collection was Google Forms. This research showed that maintaining emotional balance in face of all the adversities that surround us daily is very complex. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BUSINESS ethics , *ATTITUDES toward the environment , *PROFESSIONAL ethics , *STUDENT cheating , *SCIENCE students , *WORK environment - Abstract
Purpose: The study aims to analyze the effects of ethical behavior in the work environment on attitudes towards cheating in the academic environment among students of accounting sciences. Methodology: To this end, a survey was carried out with students from a public HEI, totaling 140 students. For data analysis, we used the technique of structural equations and factor analysis. Results: The results show that, in addition to ethical behavior in the workplace, there are other variables that influence academics to have dishonest attitudes academically. In this way, ethical behavior influences the unethical behavior of accounting science students at the studied HEI, and that, although with still small effects, the experiences lived and considered ethical in the professional environment tend to be related to the avoidance of dishonest attitudes in the context of academic, that is, a better ethical business ranking leads to less cheating behavior in academia. Contributions of the Study: The study contributes to the reflection on the improvement of the behavior of academics in the work environment and its reflection in the academy, reflecting the importance of discussing ethics in professional and teaching environments. It propagates the importance of ethics not only in the academic environment, but also in the business environment, so that there is a convergence between these environments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PROFESSIONAL ethics , *PEOPLE with disabilities , *CONTINUING education , *JUSTICE , *TEACHERS - Abstract
This article reports the results of a qualitative research, whose general objective was to analyze the professional ethical principles that address the teachers' dilemmas that arise in the inclusion of people with disabilities at the university. In particular, it presents the characterization of the professional ethical profile of teachers to address diversity, with emphasis on their initial training, their continuing education in both pedagogical and inclusion issues and the meaning they give to their teaching practice from the principles of professional ethics. The method used was the intrinsic case study. Interviews were conducted with 12 professors from a private university in Puebla, Mexico. The results show that, in addition to the pedagogical role and disciplinary specialization of teachers, it is necessary to strengthen their ethical profile in order to face the challenges of inclusion from the principles of justice, autonomy, beneficence and non-maleficence. Objective: To know the perception of nursing students about training on managerial and educational competences for health services. Methods: Descriptive-exploratory study, with a qualitative approach, with academics from the last year of the Nursing course in 2017 from a Public University in southern Brazil. Results: 23 students participated in the study, with an average age of 26 years old and predominantly female. Participants answered a questionnaire with sociodemographic characterization and questions related to their training for the development of managerial and educational skills. All domains of essential managerial competencies were considered, with emphasis on leadership. Some pointed out other skills such as the good relationship of teamwork, good theoretical and practical preparation, involvement, commitment to service and ethical behavior. It was also evident that academics recognize the importance of graduation for the construction of their educational management skills. Conclusion: Since the course enables the expansion of theoretical knowledge on the theme, practical experience and the development of critical thinking, it is concluded that the trainees considered having learned about managerial and educational skills during graduation and highlighted them as extremely important for the nurses' performance in health services. Epileptic seizures are a frequent neurological emergency in paediatric patients, potentially resulting from an acute complication. Seizures may be associated with poor outcomes and require immediate intervention, with nurses in immediate life support ambulances playing a key role as team leaders in this setting. To discuss the approach to epileptic seizures in paediatric patients, taking into account the role of nurses in the prehospital context. The team was activated to attend a 4-year-old girl with altered level of consciousness. Initial assessment confirmed the patient's critical status and the suspicion of epileptic seizure. The father was concerned and hindered the performance of nursing interventions. The challenge was establishing seizure type and identifying the most likely cause. Evidence-based practice, humanity, and professional responsibility are fundamental to nursing practice in the prehospital setting, adding value to the care of the child with seizures and, as a result, contributing to better health outcomes. SOCIAL role , *HISTORIANS , *JUDGES , *ACADEMIC discourse , *JURISDICTION , *PROFESSIONAL ethics , *HISTORIOGRAPHY , *SUBJECTIVITY - Abstract
The article aims to discuss, from Marc Bloch's comparison about the historian and the investigating judge (and to compare this formulation with recent debates), questions related to the historian's social role and his professional ethics. His academic and personal writings were the main sources of discussion. The central argument is that these different contexts demand different positions regarding the problem of the relationship between historiography and subjectivity. Even so, there is an apparent equivalence between the historian's political engagement and his professional activities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PSYCHOLOGICAL tests , *PROFESSIONAL competence , *PROFESSIONAL ethics , *PSYCHOLOGY , *SOCIAL responsibility - Abstract
Psychological assessment (PA) is a well established area in the development of research that helps to improve the quality of practice and training in psychology. Its historical and social relevance is clear, and its parameters are in line with the most rigorous criteria practiced internationally. In this way, it is considered that the PA protects society in the different contexts of action. Although it is well known, there are challenges that need to be faced. From this perspective, the present work aimed to discuss the main challenges present for quality PA, considering the strict ethical principles of the profession. The work is structured to identify these challenges, covering social and ethical considerations, the resolutions of the Federal Council of Psychology, and practical aspects. The goal is to provide contributions that can both problematize overcoming difficulties and strengthen actions to overcome them in the current context. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of this study was to show the migration process, due to the covid-19 pandemic, of the psychotherapist training program provided by a psychological care center from a real Gesell chamber to a digital version. The method used was action-research with self-study from the practitioners and supervisor whom reported their experiences with this new mode of working. An informed consent was given to students and participants explaining the implications of the process and its limitations, as well as the intention to publish findings. As results: the digital Gesell chamber presented some technical difficulties; however, it was a useful and ethical response to continue with the training program, with broad benefit for users. What is more, it presented communication advantages that allowed the reflective group to intervene without interruption. In conclusion: the use of the digital chamber was an alternative that eased the supervision of practitioners as well as the optimal performance of psychological care during social isolation.

ABSTRACT Objectives: to identify the primary constructs concerning authentic leadership and its relevance for nurses’ professional practice. Methods: integrative literature review conducted between 2015 and 2020 in LILACS, SciELO, and PubMed databases. Results: the United States published most of the 31 studies analyzed, with eight studies (25.8%), followed by Canada with seven studies (22.6%), and Brasil with five (16.1%). Most studies adopted a quantitative approach (77.41%), and 96.8% presented weak evidence. Three categories emerged: Work Engagement/Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment; Healthy Work Environment; and Intention to Quit the Job and Mental Exhaustion. Final Considerations: authentic leadership positively contributes to management and nursing care practice, promoting healthy work environments, structural empowerment, greater work engagement, and organizational commitment, decreasing absenteeism and mental exhaustion.

Fernando Henrique Cardoso's place in the canon of Brazilian Marxism is not compatible with the prominence with which Marx and Marxism appear throughout his work. This article presents evidence of such incompatibility and explores the hypothesis that it is not a mere consequence of Cardoso's ulterior career in professional politics. His misplacement, we argue, is due to a conjunction of factors, internal and mostly external to his work. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The ethics, when related to professional performance, aims to reflect on the values that guide the behavior of a certain category, finding materiality in documents such as codes of ethics or deontology, an aspect that affects information professionals, namely archivists and librarians, because they are professions that have regulated exercise in many countries, such as Brazil. In this sense, we sought to analyze and compare the documents at national and international level of these professionals, in aspects related to their producer, year of creation, formal denomination and types of sanctions foreseen. 50 documents were recovered, in English, Italian, French, Portuguese and Spanish, 17 of which are for archivists, 30 for librarians and 3 for both. Most of the codes come from professional councils or associations, created over the past four decades with names that vary between code of ethics, code of deontology, code of conduct, code of ethics and conduct, code of professional practice and statement on professional ethics. The sanctions were found in 13 documents, which mischaracterizes the other 37 codes as a regulatory document. The results lead to conclude the need for more in-depth studies on ethics and deontology in these two professional fields when elaborating codes of this nature, in order to guarantee the necessary cohesion and specificity for professional practice.

In the past, food industry actors tried to delay and weaken public health efforts to promote adequate and healthy diets in Brazil. This study aimed to identify the political strategies used by food industry actors in Brazil. We undertook a document analysis of publicly available information and interviews with eighteen key informants in public health nutrition. Data collection and analysis were carried between October 2018 and January 2019. In Brazil, food industry actors interacted with health organizations, communities, and the media. They disseminated information on nutrition and physical activity by scientific events and schools. The food industry also had allies within the government and lobbied high ranking officials. Finally, food industry actors intimidated some public health professionals, including by threats of litigation, which had the effect of silencing them. These strategies were facilitated by the use of arguments, such as the crucial role that the food industry plays in the economy and its support to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Personal responsibility, moderation, and education were cited as solutions to the obesity epidemic, and there was little discussion on the broader issue of inadequate and unhealthy diets. Food industry actors in Brazil used a diverse range of political strategies, which have the potential of negatively influencing public policy, research, and practice in the country. Learning about these strategies is an essential first step, and in response, it is crucial to develop robust mechanisms to address undue influence from corporations.

PROFESSIONAL ethics , *PROFESSIONALIZATION , *TEACHER training , *ADDICTIONS , *POSSIBILITY , *CONSTITUTIONS - Abstract
The purpose of this article is initially to discuss about the interfaces of teaching figure, with regard to professional ethics, the process of (de)professionalization and the paths and mispaths traveled, in addition aims to present the paths of such training pointing out the dilemmas, possibilities, clashes and adjustments. In this sense, we seek to clarify and respond to these tensions, which are strongly evidenced in contemporary times. Therefore, some questions circumscribe this article, namely: how professional ethical training is constructed; how (de)professionalization impacts on the constitution of professional ethics and what are the challenges faced in this educational context in the face of these demands in teaching trajectory. In addiction, the theoretical constructs are based on the assumptions of Sacristán (1995), Kleiman (2001), Tardif (2014), Reis (2020) and other authors who collaborate for the scope of this text. Finally, this paper elucidates that the profissionalization and professional ethical are fundamentals elements and integrates teaching practices and their tranning in the confrotation with deprofissionalization. ABSTRACT Objectives: to analyze the Ethical Conciliation Hearings held by the Regional Nursing Council of São Paulo. Methods: this is a retrospective study, of a quantitative approach, with documentary analysis. To obtain the data, documents related to ethical processes were analyzed. The time frame established for the study was from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2017. Results: 513 Ethical Conciliation Hearings were held and ratified. Nurses represent the category that most denunciate and are most accused. The highest percentages of ethical conciliations were in events related to public and hospital institutions. The Conduct Adjustment Term was the modality with the highest number of agreements. The main reason of conciliation failure was the non-attendance of at least one of the parties. Conclusions: the Ethical Conciliation Hearings represent an effective alternative instrument for the resolution of ethical-disciplinary processes in nursing.

The aim of the Supervised Internship is to bring the graduating student closer to reality from a work program, based on theory and practice learned in the classroom. The study, practice of techniques and methods and interaction with patients are fundamental for students to develop a sense of responsibility and professional autonomy. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the importance of the supervised internship for undergraduates in physical therapy. The methodology used included bibliographical consultations, a data survey, with thirty-four (34) undergraduates in physiotherapy in the 7th, 8th and 9th periods of two private colleges in the western zone of the city of Rio de Janeiro. The instrument used for data collection was a closed questionnaire containing eight (08) objective questions, adapted from Souza (2007). It is concluded from the results presented that supervised training is extremely important in the training of future professionals in physical therapy, considering the possibility of division of learning, the existence of places to act and develop in practice what has been learned, proximity With the reality of the labor market, the exchange of experiences with other professionals and the choice in the area of performance. PROFESSIONAL ethics , *SOCIAL services , *SOLIDARITY , *SOCIAL workers , *COMMUNITIES , *ENVIRONMENTAL ethics , *INTERNATIONAL organization - Abstract
Social Work exists beyond the palliative nature of intervention in an unequal society subdued to the imminent risk of systemic crises, assuming a mobilizing strategy around the participation and emancipatory and inclusive social change of the individual and communities, contributing to a culture of solidarity, cooperation and promotion of sustainable economies and projects that guarantee the defense of the ecosystems in which it intervenes. The possibility of existing ecosocial interventions aimed to change, preparing people, and inviting them to participate in this same transformation, represents the fulfillment of an ethical principle of Social Work. The profession's commitment to the sustainability of the environment and the communities, promoting a holistic intervention, integrating environmental, social and economic dimensions, led us to the analysis of ten European codes of Ethics and Deontology of professional associations that are members of the International Federation of Social Workers.
