Recently, Hydroelectric Plants (HPPs) have been losing competitiveness in relation to renewable sources, specifically the wind and solar photovoltaic source, due to the water crisis registered in the country, which left the main reservoirs of the Brazilian hydroelectric system depleted and with difficulties in recovering nominal levels of operation. However, these sources have some limitations, the main one of which is intermittency and, therefore, the forms of energy storage, especially the Reversible Hydroelectric Plants (RHPs), can help mitigate this intermittency, thus allowing a constant and uninterrupted. In this context, the present work proposes to study the use of an RHP, concatenated with renewable solar and / or wind sources as a mechanism for recovering the water level of the reservoir of the Furnas HPP. To this end, a pre-dimensioning of the HRP was initially carried out, opting to install a capacity of 423 MW, followed by the pre-dimensioning of the solar and wind farms, after determining the possible locations where these farms have the greatest energy potential. Energy calculations carried out showed that the energy that could be generated by the RHP daily was 1692 MWh /day, equivalent to 617.58 GWh/year. However, to store this energy quantity, it would be necessary to consume 2729 MWh /day, with a negative energy balance of 1037 MWh to be offset by the wind and / or solar park daily. With this mechanism, it would be possible to recover the level of the reservoir in the order of 0.45 meters in the year. Finally, an analysis study was carried out on the feasibility of the project for a period of 30 years, considering three different scenarios and using the methods NPV (Net Present Value) and LCOE (Levelized Cost of Electricity), resulting in the project not being viable in all scenarios. studied.

This work applies a new procedure to determine analytical hybrid braneworld models. It is constructed via three-field models coupled with gravity in a (4+1) dimensional space-time which in general is difficult to compute analytically. We apply the extension method to construct three-field models in braneworld scenarios. The fundamental idea of the method is to combine three-one field systems in a non-trivial way, to construct an effective three scalar field models. The underlying principle to the success of the method in this dissertation lies in the deformation method.

Nigerian Pidgin (hereafter NP) has assumed elaborated roles and functions, gaining new grounds in different sociolinguistic domains as a result of its sustained social expansion process. One of the consequences of this increased dynamism of NP is the development of lexical items into grammatical markers which is an expected natural process. In this paper, we examine language-internal mechanisms that transform lexical items into morphosyntactic items either for semantic value, creativity, expressivity or routinization. Our basic argument is that grammaticalization in NP is not contact-induced but a language-internal phenomenon, which reveals that NP has both a synchronic and diachronic existence that are imperative in evolving its unique grammar.

This study identified and explored the dilemmas experienced by three first-grade teachers in teaching elementary school science. The impact of coaching and teachers’ career stages on how teachers reconciled their dilemmas was examined. Results of this comparative case study indicate that, when it came to teaching science, teachers perceived tensions between focusing instructional practice on science versus the other school subjects, tensions between their responsibility to teach science and their lack of a science background, and tensions between using their curriculum as a script, supplement, starting point, or not all. Participants reconciled their common dilemmas in different ways. Extent of teaching experience; comfort level with teaching reading, writing, and mathematics; and the sense of accountability teachers felt to teach science were related to how effectively dilemmas were addressed. The amount of time spent with the science coach-researchers was tied to the amount of time science was taught and the extent to which teachers addressed dilemmas in reform-oriented ways.
