Abstract Background Bullous pilomatricoma is a rare variant of pilomatricoma. As it has been published in sporadic case reports, a limited understanding of its clinicopathological characteristics restricts its effective diagnosis and treatment. Objectives This study aimed to analyze the clinicopathological and immunohistochemical characteristics of bullous pilomatricoma to better understand the bullous transformation of pilomatricoma. Methods The authors conducted a retrospective study of 12 patients with bullous pilomatricoma and compared their clinical, histopathological, and immunohistochemical data with those of patients with ordinary pilomatricoma. Results Bullous pilomatricoma showed no sex preference, with a mean onset age of 31.2 years. The common sites were the upper extremities and trunk. Bullous pilomatricoma had a shorter disease duration, a larger diameter, and a greater tendency to increase in size than those of ordinary pilomatricoma. Histopathologically, bullous pilomatricoma had a shorter duration, lesser calcification, more mitotic figures, and distinct dermal features from those of ordinary pilomatricoma. Immunohistochemically, the expression of Matrix Metalloprotease (MMP)-2, MMP-9, vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-3 (VEGFR-3), and VEGF-C was elevated. Study limitations The study was retrospective, and the sample size was small. Conclusion The distinctive features of bullous pilomatricoma potentially result from dermal changes associated with the release of angiogenic factors and proteolytic enzymes. This comprehensive analysis provides novel insights into the clinical features and pathogenesis of bullous pilomatricoma.

As its aesthetics, methods, and conceptual focus have, in many respects, merged with those of mainstream contemporary art, the boundaries of media art have become more unclear than when the use of technology in art was more of a rare occurrence. While the term "media art" may be helpful in designating a particular sphere of practice and discourse, its current meaning has shifted as a result of changing contexts surrounding the use of technology in art. From its close association with "new media" such as the digital computer, the internet, screen-based media, and interactive systems in the early days of media art as a field, this term now bears re-evaluation in light of the pervasive use of technology we are familiar with in the post-digital condition. As many of these defining forms of new media have lost their novelty and have also been adopted in mainstream artistic practices, media art may be defined less by its engagement with specific media than by stylistic and referential aspects derived from its historical lineage. This paper draws comparisons between early discussions on media art and recent developments in this area with the aim of developing insights into whether and in what capacity media art remains relevant as a term for addressing technologically engaged contemporary artistic practices. By considering media art in such terms, this investigation reconsiders what may be regarded as defining aspects of the field, enquiring into what potential this reframing may have for practitioners and theorists working with this topic.

Background: Muay Thai, Thailand’s national sport, widely practiced globally, is known for using sports liniment before training and fights. A popular product is ‘Namman Muay’, an iconic symbol of Thailand, though its direct impact on performance lacks research. Objectives: Investigate the impact of Namman Muay on the rectus femoris of the dominant leg. Focus on muscular strength exercises – seated hip flexion and supine knee extension – with relative strength as the primary outcome. Material and Methods: A randomised control trial with 24 male Muay Thai fighters, divided into 12 in the Baby Oil (BO) and 12 in the Namman Muay (NM) group. Both groups received effleurage massage on the dominant kicking legs, followed by a RAMP warm-up. Performance measurements using Lafayette Handheld Dynamometer evaluated two isometric strength tests. Results: NM intervention showed significant increases in hip flexion and knee extension strength. Within groups, a 3% decrease was seen in the BO and an 11.6% increase in NM for hip flexion strength, and 1% decrease in BO and 6.9% increase in NM for knee extension strength. Conclusion: This study provides valuable insight to Muay Thai fighters and trainers, showing that 5 ml NM boosts relative muscular strength of hip flexion and knee extension. This could improve male Muay Thai fighters’ performance particularly when using kicking techniques.

I argue that the Republic IX ‘Authority Argument’ (580d3-583a10) embraces both subjectivity of hedonic experience and objectivity of hedonic character. This combination of views undermines the interpretations of both the argument’s main critics and its main defenders. A more adequate interpretation, drawing on the idea of inapt hedonic experiences which fail to reflect the pleasantness of their objects, points towards a reassessment of the Argument’s place in the sequence ending Bk. IX. On the view presented here, the ‘Authority Argument’ is not a stand-alone argument, but depends on the ‘Olympian Argument’ that follows it.

This paper proposes a metaphysical framework for distinguishing between human and machine intelligence. It posits two identical deterministic worlds -- one comprising a human agent and the other a machine agent. These agents exhibit different information processing mechanisms despite their apparent sameness in a causal sense. Providing a conceptual modeling of their difference, this paper resolves what it calls “the vantage point problem” – namely, how to justify an omniscient perspective through which a determinist asserts determinism from within the supposedly deterministic universe.

Abstract The Amblyomma genus (Arachnida: Ixodidae) is widely distributed in South America, with 34 species occurring in Brazil. Amblyomma nodosum Neumann 1889 is a species that predominantly feeds on Passeriformes during immature stages (larvae and nymphs) and anteaters (Myrmecophagidae) during adult stages. The aim of the present study is to report, for the first time, an unusual case of parasitism by adults of A. nodosum on a yellow cururu toad (Rhinella icterica) captured in the city of Nossa Senhora da Glória, Sergipe state (Northeastern Brazil) in the Caatinga biome, and also investigate the presence of DNA of Rickettsia in the collected material. DNA was extracted from all specimens collected (N=8) and subjected to PCR assays based on the tick 16S rRNA endogenous gene and gltA gene for Rickettsia sp. All samples (8/8; 100%) were positive for the 16S rRNA endogenous gene and two amplicons (obtained from one male and one female) were purified and sequenced. The BLASTn analysis of the sequences revealed a high degree of similarity (95-100%) with A. nodosum sequences previously deposited on GenBank, while the phylogenetic analysis clustered the sequences obtained in the same clade as A. nodosum sequences from Brazil.

ABSTRACT Objective: To determine the epidemiological profile of patients treated at a philanthropic hospital specialized in Orthopedics and Traumatology, located in a significant urban center, and evaluate the efficacy of initial empirical antibiotic treatment. Methods: Patients diagnosed with hand infections from September 2020 to September 2022 were included, excluding cases related to open fractures or post-surgical infections and those with incomplete medical records. The chi-square test was performed using STATISTICA ® software to correlate various variables. Results: A total of 34 patients participated, including 24 men and 10 women, with an average age of 41.9 years. Most male patients had Diabetes Mellitus, HIV, and drug addiction, and they resided in urban areas. Half of the patients did not report any apparent trauma. The most common infectious agent was Staphylococcus aureus*. Nearly 62% of patients required a change in the initial antibiotic regimen, with Penicillin being the most frequently substituted medication. Beta-lactam antibiotics and Quinolones were the most effective. Conclusion: These results suggest the importance of carefully evaluating the epidemiological profile of patients with acute hand infections and improving initial empirical treatment to ensure appropriate and effective therapy. Law in general. Comparative and uniform law. Jurisprudence ,K1-7720 - Abstract
Archiving copyrighted materials is often mandated to preserve them for years to come, and especially when handling digital materials created in formats, or housed on media, that are likely to become obsolete. The predominant parts of the archives are unpublished works. In order for archiving institutions to gather, house and preserve mass collection of copyrighted resources, they need to be wise enough to comply with copyright law. The copyright law issues surrounding archiving institutions have arisen out of disputes over the relationship among authors, archiving institutions, and users of archives. The Korean copyright law has already had first sale doctrine, limitation to copyright protection for reproduction and/or public transmission of libraries, etc. temporary copying exception, fair use exception, exploitation of cultural facilities exception, and database right. On the other hand, it lacks PLR scheme, ECL system, and text and data mining exception. In terms of ECL system and text and data mining exception, a bill on the Korean Copyright Act was submitted to the Korean National Assembly in order to newly insert ECL in 2021. Especially, revision of the Korean Copyright Act needs to be made to introduce text and data mining exception because the fair use doctrine has not been used by the Korean courts so far and because collected data are commonly used to train models to generate similar archives by using AI technology. In addition, archiving institutions need to take into account moral rights of authors in archiving copyrighted materials.

ABSTRACT Objective: This study aimed to present a temporal and spatial analysis of the 2018 measles outbreak in Brazil, particularly in the metropolitan city of Manaus in the Amazon region, and further introduce a new tool for spatial analysis. Methods: We analyzed the geographical data of the residences of over 7,000 individuals with measles in Manaus during 2018 and 2019. Spatial and temporal analyses were conducted to characterize various aspects of the outbreak, including the onset and prevalence of symptoms, demographics, and vaccination status. A visualization tool was also constructed to display the geographical and temporal distribution of the reported measles cases. Results: Approximately 95% of the included participants had not received vaccination within the past decade. Heterogeneity was observed across all facets of the outbreak, including variations in the incubation period and symptom presentation. Age distribution exhibited two peaks, occurring at one year and 18 years of age, and the potential implications of this distribution on predictive analysis were discussed. Additionally, spatial analysis revealed that areas with the highest case densities tended to have the lowest standard of living. Conclusion: Understanding the spatial and temporal spread of measles outbreaks provides insights for decision-making regarding measures to mitigate future epidemics.

The identified prevalence of cognitive impairment in people experiencing homelessness has placed a focus on the use of measures of cognition to predict functioning and ability to move successfully into housing. Functional cognition is the cognitive ability to perform daily life tasks, incorporating cognitive functioning, performance skills, and patterns. Given the increased research on cognitive status and functional skills within people experiencing homelessness, a scoping review was conducted to synthesize the existing literature and identify how functional cognition is evaluated in this population, and identify implications for homeless and housing services. This scoping review was conducted using the Joanna Briggs Institute protocol. Included studies assessed functional cognition, or assessed a component of cognition and related it to functional performance. Of 8,848 articles retrieved from the initial search, thirty-seven articles were determined to meet the inclusion criteria for data extraction. Categories for data extraction included functional domain addressed, tools used for assessment of cognition and/or function, and how reported outcomes were interpreted. Narrative analysis identified domains of cognition and function assessed, and relationships between cognition and function domains. Only the functional domain of Activities of Daily Living/Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (ADL/IADL) were found to have a consistent relationship between cognition and performance and primarily when performance-based assessments were used. Challenges with generalizing study findings broadly include: study populations do not reflect demographics of those experiencing homelessness; a variety of assessment tools for cognition and function are utilized; and the broad use of the term function encompasses several different areas of independent living in the community. Several studies identified that even with the presence of decreased cognition, those with the experience of homelessness are able to maintain housing when given individualized and appropriate supports. This scoping review indicates inconsistent methods to assess cognition and functional cognition within people experiencing homelessness. Performance-based assessments of ADL/IADL are more likely to identify the impact of cognition on function, while neurocognitive assessments are more beneficial to assess social/community integration. Findings indicate that to support the transition from homelessness to housing and increase the likelihood of housing stability; assessments should focus on identifying strengths and necessary/individualized ongoing supports.

Ruminant milk is the lead source of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) in the human diet, with cis-9, trans-11 CLA being the major among all. Small amounts of trans-10, cis-12 CLA are also found in synthetic supplements. Since both isomers are biologically active with potential health benefits, there is great interest in quantifying them for quality control routines. An alternative method for the analysis of the aforementioned CLAs by fast gas chromatography (GC) is discussed in the present study. The fatty acid methyl ester mixture obtained by alkaline catalysis was injected into a GC equipped with a fame ionization detector (FID) and fitted with an ionic liquid SLB-IL111 chromatographic column (15 m × 0.10 mm × 0.08 µm). Separation was achieved in less than 5 min using a 168 °C isotherm run. Both CLA isomers were quantified by using of single point standard addition statistical approach. Results were contested to those obtained using the recommended 100 m long CP-Sil88 capillary column and none evidence of significant differences was found within 95% confidence interval. Therefore, the proposed method could be valuable to focused regulatory routines of large numbers of samples with greater analytical frequency.

Abstract Objective Commonly used methods for measuring proprioception have resulted in conflicting reports regarding knee proprioception with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture and the influence of ACL reconstruction. Methods One hundred subjects (50 patients with radiologically and arthroscopically confirmed unilateral ACL rupture and 50 normal controls) were assessed with regards to proprioception using dynamic single-leg stance postural stabilometry. Instrumented knee ligament laxity and knee outcome scores were also measured. Of the 50 patients in the ACL group, 34 underwent reconstruction and were reassessed postoperatively. Results There was a significant proprioceptive deficiency in the ACL group compared with their contralateral knee ( p < 0.001) and to the control group ( p = 0.01). There was asignificant improvement in knee proprioception following ACL reconstruction compared to preoperative findings ( p = 0.003). There was no correlation between ligament laxity measurements and outcome scores. A significant correlation was found preoperatively between outcome scores and proprioception measurements. This correlation was not found post-operatively. Pre-operative proprioception testing had asignificant correlation (r = 0.46) with post-operative proprioception ( p = 0.006). Conclusion Patients with an ACL rupture had a proprioceptive deficit which improved following ligament reconstruction. Knee outcome scores had a better correlation with proprioception than ligament laxity. Proprioception may be a superior objective measure than ligament laxity in quantifying functional knee deficits and outcomes in patients with ACL ruptures.

Sustainability Window (SuWi) analysis is a novel tool for analyzing the different dimensions of sustainability. This research defines the minimum economic development that meets social sustainability requirements and the maximum economic development so as not to exceed environmental limits. In addition, the method provides quantitative measures to define whether the development of real GDP is within the limits of sustainability. Cuba has an exciting profile among developing countries since its development has been related to sustainability in various fields. Unfortunately, the United States blockade against Cuba has severely limited development possibilities in all spheres of life. However, Cuba has developed successful sustainability policies to achieve compliance with the SDGs. SuWi's results are visualized in the Sustainability Donut, illustrating critical areas of development where policy intervention may be needed to achieve sustainability. In the Cuban case, the visualization of the donut's economy is built to analyze both strong and weak sustainability.

This empirical article analyzes the commercial exchange portfolio of the Cuban economy by studying the data on Cuban foreign trade activities. It combines measures from the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI) and the Lauraéus-Kaivo-oja Index (LKI) to identify key changes and trends in the export and import patterns of trade relationships at the country level. The article shows the results and key findings of the index-based analyses, as well as the export and import structures of the Cuban economy and trade. Especially this type of analysis provides a good knowledge base for smart specialization strategies of the Cuban economy. The results indicate that export-driven strategies need re-assessment from a resilience perspective. A more diversified export portfolio would be a smarter solution than the current export portfolio concentration rate. In the case of the import strategy, a re-assessment is not needed because Cuba's import portfolio is already highly diversified.

This article focuses on the Cuban economy and its ability to recover its energy sources and associated technology. This study includes three resilience analyses: (1) total energy consumption, (2) indigenous energy sources, and (3) imported energy consumption. These three resilience analyzes are performed using the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index and the Lauraéus-Kaivo-oja Index. The historical time horizon of these resilience analyzes is between 1971 and 2018. Along with these historical analyzes of energy sources, a long-term scenario from the International Energy Agency, IEA, will also be put into practice until the year 2050 to Cuba based on HH and LK indices. The article predicts that while demand for fossil fuels has collapsed during the Covid-19 crisis, renewable energy production should continue to grow. These resilience analyzes of the Cuban energy economy provide useful information on the Cuban energy planning process.

ABSTRACT The present study investigated whether the same temperature-humidity index (THI) values under different conditions of air temperature and relative humidity (RH) would affect the thermoregulatory, nutritional, and behavioral responses of laying hens. One hundred twenty Hy-Line Brown laying hens (60-weeks-old) were divided equally in two environmental chambers: 26 °C with 70% RH (hRH75) and 30 °C with 30% RH (hT75) for 28 days. The two ambient environments (hRH75 and hT75) had an identical THI value of 75, calculated using an empirical formula for laying hens. Neither hRH75 nor hT75 affected rectal and body-surface temperatures and heart and respiratory rates. The concentration of volatile fatty acids in fecal excreta were altered by the thermal treatments. hT75 vs. hRH75 decreased the proportion of acetate and increased the proportion of propionate in fecal samples. hT75 vs. hRH75 lowered the digestibility of dry matter, crude protein, and neutral detergent fiber at 14 days. Thermal treatments did not affect heat stress-associated behavioral responses including feeding, drinking, panting, and wing elevation at any stage. Laying hens exposed to the same THI at different temperatures and RH exhibit equal physiological responses including rectal and body-surface temperatures, heart and respiratory rates, and behavioral responses. Nonetheless, high-temperature treatment (hT75; 30 °C and 30% RH) vs. low temperature treatment (hRH75; 26 °C and 70% RH) affects nutrient digestibility and gut metabolites, suggesting that there are negligible but discernable responses to temperature in the gut physiology.

ABSTRACT Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are prone to develop kidney injury. Renal involvement in IBD patients is usually diagnosed by the measurement of serum creatinine and the estimation of the glomerular filtration rate. We describe a patient with IBD who presented with large fluctuations in his serum creatinine level (~3.0-fold) without significant histologic abnormalities and with a normal cystatin C level. This appears to be related to a high-protein diet and intermittent fasting. Even though the impact of a high-protein diet on mild elevations of the serum creatinine level has been described, large fluctuations in serum creatinine from diet alone, as seen in this case, have never been reported, raising the question about the potential contribution of inflamed bowel on gut absorption or metabolism of creatinine. This case highlights the importance of a detailed history, including the dietary habits, when encountering a patient with increased serum creatinine level, and careful interpretation of serum creatinine in a patient with a creatinine high-protein diet or underlying IBD.

Abstract Objectives Self-guided, asynchronous, online interventions may provide college students access to evidence-based care, while mitigating barriers like limited hours of service. Thus, we examined the preliminary effectiveness of a 45-minute, self-guided, asynchronous, online, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)-informed stress and anxiety management workshop. College undergraduates (n = 131) were randomized to either workshop (n = 65) or waitlist control (n = 66) conditions. Methods Participants in the workshop condition completed baseline measures of depression, stress, and anxiety, before completing the workshop. Participants in the waitlist control condition only completed the baseline measures. All participants were reassessed at 1-week follow-up. Results Controlling for baseline measures, students in the workshop condition experienced significantly less stress and greater self-efficacy to regulate stress and anxiety at follow-up, compared to waitlist controls. Conclusion A 45-minute, self-guided, asynchronous, online DBT skills-informed stress and anxiety management workshop may reduce stress and improve self-efficacy to regulate stress and anxiety.

ABSTRACT Objective: To report a rare case of a patient with a molecular diagnosis of Kleefstra syndrome (KS) who has four other chromosomal alterations involving pathogenic variants. Case description: Male patient, two years old, with global delay, including in neuropsychomotor development, ocular hypertelorism, broad forehead, brachycephaly, hypotonia, ligament laxity, unilateral single palmar crease and arachnoid cyst. The microarray-based comparative genomic hybridization (a-CGH) identified copy number variations (CNVs) in five regions: 9q34.3, 6p22.1, Yq11.223, Yp11.23, and 2q24.1. The heterozygous microdeletion in 9q34.3 involving the EHMT1 gene confirms the diagnosis of KS. Comments: The presence of pathogenic CNVs and/or those of uncertain significance, located on chromosomes 2, 6 and Y, may be contributing to a variability in the patient's clinical condition (arachnoid cyst, single palmar fold and ligament laxity), compared to other individuals with only KS genetic alteration, making the dignosis of the disease harder.

In the post-COVID-19 era, Chinese holiday seekers have shown significant interest in outdoor leisure opportunities or rural tourism, with a notable increase in enotourism. Wine tasting and related experiences have extended beyond consumption to become more experiential and sophisticated. To better capture this deepening yet under-addressed experience, this study developed a multi-item scale to measure wine tourism experiences. The scale covers six dimensions, namely escapism, entertainment, esthetics, education, novelty and hedonism, which are based on Pine and Gilmore’s (1998) experience economy model. The scale measures a wide breadth of experiences that are associated with wine tourism in the new era. Hence, it provides revised and pertinent market intelligence for winery to better market their products.

This paper focuses on Cuba and its position in global politics by means of geopolitics/geoeconomics.These two concepts are used to describe the current international political dimensions and how differentnations attempt to con-trol their position within global power politics. Geopolitics has always been relatedto the energy economy and ener-gy policy.Cuba has throughout history been heavily connected to the states located in its neighbourhood as well as the international power politics. In this article, we illustrate the impacts of geopolitics and further explain the Cuban dependency on international global politics through Cross-Impact analysis (CIA), especially in terms of its version called Express Cross-Impact Technique (EXIT), developed at Finland Futures Research Institute. Three alternative scenarios are the results of the analysis.

Abstract Despite being a procedure widely used all over the world with high rates of symptom remission, surgical treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome may present unsatisfactory outcomes. Such outcomes may be manifested clinically by non-remission of symptoms, remission of symptoms with recurrence a time after surgery or appearance of different symptoms after surgery. Different factors are related to this unsuccessful surgical treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome. Prevention can be achieved through a thorough preoperative clinical evaluation of the patient. As such, the surgeon will be able to make differential or concomitant diagnoses, as well as determine factors related to patient dissatisfaction. Perioperative factors include the correct identification of anatomical structures for complete median nerve decompression. Numerous procedures have been described for managing postoperative factors. Among them, the most common is adhesion around the median nerve, which has been treated with relative success using different vascularized flaps or autologous or homologous tissue coverage. The approach to cases with unsuccessful surgical treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome is discussed in more detail in the text.

ABSTRACT Post-thoracotomy paraplegia after non-aortic surgery is an extremely uncommon complication. A 56-year-old woman presented with a 1-year history of progressive shortness of breath. Computed tomography revealed a locally advanced posterior mediastinal mass involving the ribs and the left neural foramina. Tumor excision with a left pneumonectomy was performed. Post-resection, bleeding was noted in the vicinity of the T4-T5 vertebral body, and the bleeding point was packed with oxidized cellulose gauze (Surgicel®). Postoperatively, the patient complained of bilateral leg numbness extending up to the T5 level, with bilateral paraplegia. An urgent laminectomy was performed, and we noted that the spinal cord was compressed by two masses of Surgicel® with blood clots measuring 1.5 × 1.5cm at T4 and T5 levels. The paraplegia did not improve despite the removal of the mass, sufficient decompression, and aggressive postoperative physiotherapy. Surgeons operating in fields close to the intervertebral foramen should be aware of the possible threat to the adjacent spinal canal as helpful hemostatic agents can become a preventable threat.

Abstract Objectives To assess alcohol use and perceived change in alcohol consumption (before and during the pandemic) in Brazilians during the COVID-19 pandemic, their correlates, and their associations with depressive, anxiety and co-occurring depressive and anxiety symptoms (D&A). Methods This is a cross-sectional study comprising 992 individuals in self-isolation. A self-report questionnaire was used to assess whether participants were drinking during self-isolation and whether they changed their drinking behavior (drinking less, more, or no change) from before to during the pandemic. D&A symptoms were assessed using the Beck Depression and Anxiety Inventories (BDI and BAI). Results A total of 68.5% of participants reported alcohol consumption during the pandemic, and 22.7% of these reported increased alcohol use. Smoking was positively associated with alcohol consumption during the pandemic. Alcohol consumption was associated with anxiety (OR = 1.40, 95%CI 1.06-1.85, p < 0.01) and D&A (OR = 1.38, 95%CI 1.02-1.87, p = 0.033) symptoms. Conclusions Drinking during self-isolation was prevalent and was associated with risk factors for alcohol use disorders. The long-term effects of high drinking rates and increased consumption should be proactively monitored and assessed.

Audiovisual translation of humor has long been a challenge faced by translators. It is inevitable for translators to remove or reduce some of the humorous effect in the target language despite their endeavor to preserve the humor elements. This qualitative study aimed to investigate the reasons behind the loss of humor in translation of the humorous scenes from an American comedy cartoon, SpongeBob SquarePants. Sperber and Wilson (1986)’s Relevance theory and Chaume (2004)’s Constraints of Dubbing framework were adopted in this study. The analysis was carried out by comparing the Zabalbeascoa (1993; 1996)’s humorous loads in each identified scenes in English and the Chinese dubbed version. The findings indicated that community and institution, community sense of humor and linguistic elements are prone to be lost in this type of translation not merely due to the linguistic and cultural asymmetry but also because of the synchronization constraints of dubbing. It was found that the substitution strategy which preserved the humor effect became ineffective because the new humorous elements recreated by the translator may not be synchronized with the actor’s lip movements, actions and length of utterance displayed on screen. Despite the unavoidable loss of the untranslatable elements, the maximum preservation of visual and non-marked elements which can be deciphered by the target audience without making unnecessary efforts compensates for the loss, contributing to the popularity and success of this comedy product in the target language and culture.

The Amazon is a vast region, but with many shortcomings. It presents one of the worst human development indicators in Brazil. This article shows that while the Amazon does not have an adequate policy to make the region economically viable, conservationist measures will be ineffective to protect the forest. A few responsible investments have not been sufficient to promote the region's economic development and there is an urgent need to preserve nature and increase the Amazon population's quality of life, eliminating deforestation and illegal extractive activities. It has been difficult to identify investments that bring real value in terms of sustainability to other options than extractive products. The analysis results showed how a combined effort between public and private initiatives is essential to increase the environmental social governance of companies that are doing business in global value chains, improve the institutional environment, catalyze sustainable measures to create a thriving sustainable circular bioeconomy in the Amazon region. To this end, this document addresses aspects related to responsible investments, circular bioeconomy, international markets, deforestation reduction, commodity production, land use regularization, and bioinputs extraction and cultivation.

Aim: To assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on admissions of patients with acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) in countries participating in the Stent-Save a Life (SSL) global initiative. Methods and Results: We conducted a multicenter observational survey to collect data on patient admissions for ACS, ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and PPCI in participating SSL member countries through a period during the COVID-19 outbreak (March and April 2020) compared with the equivalent period in 2019. Of the 32 member countries of the SSL global initiative, 17 agreed to participate in the survey (three in Africa, five in Asia, six in Europe and three in Latin America). Overall reductions of 27.5% and 20.0% were observed in admissions for ACS and STEMI, respectively. The decrease in PPCI was 26.7%. This trend was observed in all except two countries. In these two, the pandemic peaked later than in the other countries. Conclusions: This survey shows that the COVID-19 outbreak was associated with a significant reduction in hospital admissions for ACS and STEMI as well as a reduction in PPCI, which can be explained by both patient- and system-related factors.

Wine tourism is an increasingly prevalent form of tourism, but is still an emerging market in China. Wine tourism is highly experiential, yet only a few research works have focused on the antecedents and consequences of co-creation experience in the context of wine tourism. In this study, Chateau Changyu Rena Shaanxi, China, was selected as the site of research to explore the impacts of wine tourism experience on co-creation experience, perceived value, and consumer behavior. The Structure Equation Modeling (SEM) method has been used to analyze a sample of 536 respondents who have participated in wine tourism. The results show that most Chinese tourists participated in wine tourism for the first time and spent around 800 Renminbi for wine in average at the winery. In addition, this study is the first to confirm that autonomous of co-creation experience, entertainment, education, escapism, and novelty experience have positive effects on co-creation experience. Education experience, esthetic experience, escapism experience, and hedonism experience are positively correlated with perceived value. Co-creation experience and perceived value are positively correlated with word-of-mouth intention, revisit intention and purchase intention. The results of this study also provide implications for winery operators, guiding them to improve their business strategies, enrich wine tourism experience, encourage tourists to participate in co-creation activities, reward visitors for positive word-of-mouth promotion and offer cost-effective products.

The text presents two different views on the problems with the Bohemian revolt and the Battle of the White Mountain (1620). The analysis of the Spanish perception (for example, the Spanish ambassador Oñate, members of the State Council, and Spanish King) described the conflict as a broader problem, which could lead to a loss of the Habsburg’s lands in Central Europe. In contrast, the Bohemian point understood the revolt in Prague as a danger to the position of the Catholic nobility in Bohemia.

ABSTRACT The production of cachaça in Brazil is a historical and cultural practice that has been gaining ground in the commercial sector with the marketing of its product with new labels, derivatives and different types of packaging for the beverage. Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) packaging has been used by some producers because of its lower cost and greater durability for transport. The influence of storage on 15 samples of commercial cachaça packed in polymeric packaging was investigated. The physical-chemical quality and the presence of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH’s) in the beverages were evaluated. Of these samples, 60% contained concentrations of components that were outside the limits of the Quality Standards established by Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA), and most of the samples contained low alcohol concentrations. The samples showed concentrations of ethyl carbamate below the limit established by MAPA (210 µg L-1). All samples studied contained concentrations of PAHs higher than those found in the literature for cachaça stored in other types of packages. Contamination by PAHs can be associated with the thermal processes involved in the production of packages. Sample R12 contained the highest total concentration of the PAHs (20.90 µg L-1), followed by samples R7 (17.23 µg L-1) and R8 (17.61 µg L-1). The mean concentration was 10.91 µg L-1. Fluorene was the PAH found in the largest quantity with a concentration of 18.61 µg L-1 in the R12 sample. Therefore, cachaças stored in PET packaging are unsuitable for consumption and commercialization, as they present high concentrations of contaminants.
