Geography, over the years has gone through several transformations, which allowed reconsiderations over the contents of the didactic books. Among them, we can highlight the crosscutting theme related to health, which has been occupying more space in the contents of this subject. This study aims to investigate the subject of health in the textbooks of Geography. The books selected were of the 6th year of the second stage of basic education of municipal schools in the city of Uberlândia (Minas Gerais). Three collections of textbooks used by public schools were analyzed and it was verified that the health issue is treated superficially, doesn't address fundamental concepts and explanations for effective learning on this theme that is transverse. It is important to highlight that the 'Geographic Expeditions' collection was the one with the best formulation of the health contents showed in the books, as well as providing the best explanations, which makes easier the student learning. The Information System for Primary Care (SIAB) is an information system whose data are collected in the houses by Community Health Agents (ACSs), through instruments - such as Record A, which verifies housing conditions, access to Sanitation Services Basic (SSBs) and monitors the health situation in defined geographic areas. The precarious sanitation confirms the environmental inequity that affects the quality of life and injures human dignity. The results of parasitological stool examinations were obtained from the Laboratory of Regional Hospital Dr. Deoclécio Lima Verde (LHRDLV) related to 2011 and correlated them with the information available in the consolidated from the Record A of the Basic Health Units (UBS) municipal, using the chi- square (χ²) and Pearson correlation, both with 95% confidence (p <0.05). The prevalence was 19.7%, with a predominance of protozoa and monoparasitism. There was statistical significance in the distribution of disease between age groups. The Rural Zone presents worse sanitation conditions, a greater number of poor and sick individuals. There was statistical significance between the collection of waste and the prevalence. The use of the SIAB is interesting in studies involving epidemiological scenarios and environmental factors, allowing to identify vulnerable areas and populations at risk. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article is an analytical report on the 20-year trajectory of the 'medical rationale' category that emerged in the early 1990s in the area of Social and Human Sciences in Health in the field of Public Health. Its objective was to study complex and therapeutic medical systems and traditional, complementary and alternative medicines. Based on a critical review of the literature, it presents some aspects of the cultural, political, institutional and social context of its emergence, as well as its main contributions and developments on a theoretical level and on social policies and practices in health. The southern epistemology concept of Boaventura de Sousa Santos is used to reflect upon the contribution of the 'medical rationale' category to the critique of the post-modern scientific rationale and to the creation of a new epistemology in health. O artigo é um relato analítico da trajetória de 20 anos da categoria racionalidade médica, que emergiu no Campo da Saúde Coletiva, área das Ciências Sociais e Humanas em Saúde, no início da década de 1990, com o objetivo de estudar sistemas médicos complexos e terapêuticas tradicionais, complementares e alternativas. Com base em revisão crítica da literatura, apresentam- se aspectos do contexto cultural, políticoinstitucional e social de seu surgimento, como também suas principais contribuições e desdobramentos nos planos teórico e das políticas e práticas sociais em saúde. Utiliza-se o conceito de epistemologia do sul de Boaventura de Sousa Santos, para a reflexão sobre a contribuição da categoria racionalidade médica à crítica da racionalidade científica pós-moderna e à construção de uma nova epistemologia em saúde. Aimed at students, teachers and researchers of Public Health, this article searches to contribute to the debate on the possibilities of application of the technique of participant observation in social research in health, especially providing students in Health public (strictu and lato sensu) theoretical-methodological and practical and instrumental subsidies to understand this technique. The motivation comes from the academic and professional experience of the authors, with emphasis on teaching the course "Methodology of social research II: techniques of information", from the Post-Graduate Public Health DCS / ENSP / Fiocruz, in strictu and lato sensu modalities. Aim: The aim of this systematic review was to identify empirical studies highlighting the role of hope in personal health. Method: Search for empirical studies in databases and other sources, and their selection according to the PICOS method. Conclusions: Hope is one of the central features in nursing care and contributes to increasing the ability to deal with crisis situations; it also contributes to the maintenance of quality of life, to determination of health goals and to health promotion. It is seen as offering a possible exit from the cycle of suffering and is experienced as a comfort. Implications for Nursing Care: Nurses are well-placed to influence hope positively or negatively, and therefore the ability to encourage hope should be an indispensable component of their professional skills.
