History of the Greco-Roman World ,DE1-100 - Abstract
During the sixteenth century, artists consulted emblematic and mythological manuals as a source for their visual conceits. With a moral overtone, these manuals contain verbal and visual representations of virtues, vices, passions and temperaments, revealing a Neoplatonic philosophy. This essay analyzes Giorgio Vasari (1511-1574)’s assimilation of Neoplatonism in his artistic concepts of invention, imitation and beauty depicted as visual conceits in woodcuts of The Fine Arts in the Vite (1550 and 1568 editions, figs. 1 and 2) and in his paintings of Fame and the Fine Arts (1542 and 1560, figs. 3-6 and 7-11) in his homes at Arezzo and Florence. The conception for these visual designs reveal Neoplatonic influence based on Vasari’s aesthetic and art theory.

History of the Greco-Roman World ,DE1-100 - Abstract
Bernardino Barbatelli, known as Il Poccetti(1542–1612), was an Italian Mannerist artist, who was a prolific fresco painter, decorator, and printmaker. During his artistic career, he completed religious frescoes for Santa Maria Novella, Saint Mark, the Cloister of Santissima Annunziata, and the vault at the entrance of the Hospital of the Innocents. He also decorated numerous secular ceilings, façades, and palaces in Florence, including the ceiling with Apollo and the Muses of 1575, for Casa Zuccari (now Kunsthistorisches Institute), the sale of Palazzo Capponi Lungarno of 1583–85, the sgraffitifaçade of the Palazzo of Bianca Cappello of 1580, and the grotteschi ceiling in the loggia of the Palazzo Marzichi-Lenzi of 1585, the last of which is the focus of this study (Figs. 1 and 2)1.

_______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT The central purpose of this research is to analyze the connections between education and the process of transition to the labor market of poor youth. We start from the assumption that social protection systems and secondary education are necessary but still insuficiente to ensure that poor young people access to jobs that allow them to overcome poverty. The inclusion in both social networks that facilitate the formation of social capital and professional education programs may constitute dimensions that could be incorporated into public policies generating synergies for the incorporation of these young people to higher quality jobs. We used various methodologies: comparative, qualitative and statistical data from PNAD-IBGE (Brazil) and EPH-INDEC (Argentina). Educational and career paths of young people living in favelas in Rio de Janeiro: Morro do Alemão and Cidade de Deus and slums in Buenos Aires: Retiro and Villa Soldati are compared. In this research, the structural variables, like socio economic and political ones, are significant in the building of opportunities for young people, and biographical variables allow us to observe how individuals experience the effects of those structures. Both dimensions: structural and biographical provide the framework for the construction of educational and career paths. The selections of the path to be followed by these young people will more or less likely be carried out according to the restrictions imposed by the objective context in which they live. Conditions are: economic-social, habitat, educational circuit characterized by segmentation and low quality, lack of social capital and discrimination. All these constraints are inequalities interacting and reinforcing the coupling between each other, and can be interpreted as a coupling of two types of exclusions: socioeconomic and socio-cultural. When this coupling occurs, exclusion tends to reinforce becoming more extreme and persistent. The wide range of vulnerability situations of poor youth, highlights the heterogeneity of poverty, and the extension and complexity of inequalities in access to resources and opportunities. Individuals, even in the same social category, neither face the same situations nor make the same vital route. This thesis has contributed to identify five educational-occupational profiles: a) trajectories of exclusion, b) risk trajectories, c) trajectories of vulnerability, d) Cumulative path, e) successive accumulation profile. The results show that socioeconomic background, educational level of the family and the quality of the schools they have attended, the scarce bridging social capital seem to be the determinant of the fate of poor youth working path. Access to secondary education is no longer a sufficient condition for youngsters accessing labor market like in Argentina’s case. However, despite these breeding trends, research also shows that some young enter into paths of accumulation. Vocational education is an important alternative, especially for those who cannot access or stay in college and / or lean toward short technical courses, gaining a faster and better access to labor markets. Institutional mechanisms are needed in order to support the transition to labor markets generating greater and better opportunities for young people in poverty.

The authors studied the oral and written language level of children attending the fourth year of Primary school in Castilian, Catalan, French, Italian and Portuguese. With this purpose in mind, they collected, for each language, the narratives (oral and written) of 60 children belonging to whole classes and constituting representative samples, in Barcelona, Paris, Turin and Porto. For each language, they compared the mean number of words, the syntactic structures (complete sentences and descriptive presentations), the terms (syntagmatic groups) linked to the main verb of the structures and the vocabulary (grammatical and lexical words) used. It was thus possible to establish a dictionary of the different lexical words used in connection with the proposed topics. In general, the "language situation" is, on average, of the same type. Such a detailed study shows the similarities and differences peculiar to each language and underlines the possibility of learning languages, which are very similar. Moreover the scores obtained allow us to compare the levei of a child with the mean scores corresponding to his/her class and to deduce, if necessary, what can be done to improve his/her language ability.

Linguagem infantil ,Psicolinguística - Abstract
The authors carried out a study of oral and written language (as far as expression is concerned) among European children at three levels based upon stories obtained from two kinds of cartoons presented to each level concerned. The three school levels choosen were the following: — the level of children attending the pre-school and the first two school years, in which the child begins to become familiar with the written language; — the level of the 4th school year, in which the child is faced with a faster rhythm of work; — and, finally, the third level (6th school year), in which the multidimensional approach should not disturb the child who has already acquired the necessary basic knowledge. Based upon the stories obtained, we compare the words, structures, syntagmatic groups, lexical items, lexical wealthe and lexical research. Having in mind the free circulation of peoples within the European Union, a study of this kind allows us to observe what disturbs a child either in his/her own language or in another language if he/she needs to spend a certain period of time in a country where his/her native language is not the official one.

Linguística comparada ,Ortografia - Abstract
The authors' purpose in this paper is to compare the spelling of the written performances of 180 children of the 4th school year (60 from London, 60 from Paris and 60 from Porto, belonging to whole classes in each country), obtained from two cartoons which the children were asked to describe individually. The first finding concerns the percentage of errors made. For an average of 94 words, the English pupils made 10% and the Franch pupils 10,5% of errors while, for an average of 77 words, the Portuguese pupils made 5,5% of errors. The different kinds of errors which were found may be subdivided into 4 categories: on the one hand gender and number errors (non-application or misapplication of the agreement rules) and usage errors (affecting the graphic form of the word without affecting its auditive form) and, on the other hand, phonetic errors (affecting the phonetism of the words) and linguistic errors (errors of verbal morphology and non-identification of words). The distribution of the errors translates the difficulties inherent in each language.
