Este artigo tem o objetivo de realizar um levantamento da produção bibliográfica relativa ao tema “Trabalho prisional”, que vem ganhando espaço na área de estudos organizacionais. Para tanto, foi realizada uma consulta ao Portal Capes, Scielo, Spell e Anpad, sendo incluídos artigos de revistas, bancos de dissertações, teses, notícias de jornais, livros, capítulos de livros e monografias, todos escritos e publicados nas Ciências Sociais aplicadas. Após os recortes empíricos, restaram 27 artigos para analisar e para compreender o trabalho prisional em sua totalidade. Na tentativa de apresentar os sentidos do labor encarcerado, o tema foi reorganizado em subtemas, quais sejam: o trabalho como meio de sobrevivência, o binômio da educação e trabalho, os egressos e o mercado de trabalho, e, por fim, os trabalhadores do sistema prisional brasileiro. A revisão da literatura permite concluir que a produção acadêmica, voltada para a compreensão dos significados do trabalho dentro do sistema prisional, destaca três elementos bastante proeminentes na teoria marxista: a humanização, a exploração e a alienação dos trabalhadores

Objective: to compare cardiac anxiety symptoms in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft and valve surgery repair in the preoperative period, on the day of hospital discharge and on the first return visit after hospital discharge., Methods: an observational study, carried out in inpatient units and in outpatient clinic of a university hospital. Data were collected through interviews. Cardiac anxiety symptoms were assessed using the Cardiac Anxiety Questionnaire., Results: we observed the effect of time on cardiac anxiety symptoms of patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft in the total score and in the "Avoidance" domain at discharge and at the first return visit. In patients undergoing valve repair surgery, the effect of time on symptoms was observed only in the first return visit, when compared with the preoperative period., Conclusion: the findings revealed increased cardiac anxiety symptoms in the postoperative period, discharge and first return, when compared to the preoperative period.

The aim of this study was to describe quality indicators for prenatal care in Brazil as part of the Program for the Improvement of Access and Quality (PMAQ-AB). The study analyzed number of prenatal visits, vaccination status, prescription of ferrous sulfate, physical examination, orientation, and laboratory tests, based on which a summary quality indicator was constructed. Data were collected in 2012-2013 during interviews conducted by External Evaluators of the PMAQ-AB, with 6,125 users who had done their last prenatal follow-up in Family Health units. During prenatal follow-up, 89% reported six or more visits, more than 95% received a tetanus booster and prescription of ferrous sulfate, 24% reported having received all the procedures in the physical examination, 60% received all the orientation, and 69% had all the recommended laboratory tests. Only 15% of interviewees had received adequate prenatal care, including all the recommended measures, and there was a significantly higher proportion of "complete" care in pregnant women that were older, with higher income, in the Southeast region of Brazil, in municipalities with more than 300,000 inhabitants, and in those with (HDI) in the upper quartile. There are persist social and individual inequalities that can be targeted by measures to upgrade the teams' work processes.

Objective: To describe the frequency of prescription of phosphate binders (PB) and calcitriol for patients on chronic hemodialysis in Salvador, Brazil, and to assess whether treatment is in agreement with recommendations of the Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative (K/DOQI)., Methods: Cross section of baseline data of the PROHEMO study. The frequency of prescription of PB and calcitriol according to laboratory indicators of mineral metabolism was compared with K/DOQI recommendations., Results: Sevelamer alone (i.e., not combined with other PB) was prescribed for 45.4% of patients, calcium carbonate (CaCO3) alone for 26.5%, sevelamer combined with CaCO3 for 2.1% and calcium acetate for 5.2%. Prescription of PB was noted in 53% of the patients with phosphorus <3.5 mg/dL and 40% with phosphorus <3.0 mg/dL. In disagreement with K/DOQI, prescription of calcitriol was found in 19% of patients with PTH<150 pg/mL and prescription was absent for approximately 35.4% with PTH>300 pg/dL combined with phosphorus equal or less than 5.5 mg/dL, calcium equal or less than 9.5 mg/dL and calcium x phosphorus product (CaxP)<55 mg2/dL2. For this latter group 38% had a prescription of sevelamer without other phosphate binders., Conclusion: Results show a large percentage of prescriptions of sevelamer among patients on maintenance hemodialysis in a Brazilian city, despite the high cost of the medication and absence of contraindications for PB with calcium salts. Results in patients with PTH<150 pg/mL and with PTH>300 pg/mL combined with certain concentrations of calcium, phosphate and CaxP also indicate the need to evaluate practices for use of phosphate binders and calcitriol.

Background: Drug-induced or "pill-induced" esophagitis may be secondary to the prolonged contact of the drug with the esophageal mucosa or secondary to the drug ability to alter the local conditions. The alendronate sodium, a bone resorption inhibitor used in the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis, has been cited, recently, as one of the causes of adverse upper gastrointestinal tract injury., Aim: To describe the clinical, endoscopic and histopathological features of patients with ulcerative esophagitis associated with alendronate sodium., Patients: Four women and one man with osteoporosis were treated with alendronate sodium and submitted to endoscopy followed esophageal biopsy., Results: The age range of the patients was from 64 to 84 years old. The patients showed dyspeptic symptoms after taking alendronate sodium during a period of 2-12 months. At endoscopic evaluation, the mucosa was friable, with erosion and/or ulceration covered by fibrin in the distal esophagus. The pathological examination of the esophageal biopsies revealed ulcerative esophagitis characterized by necrofibrinpurulent material, granulation tissue, and yellow refractile polarizable crystal. The patients' symptoms resolved after stopping alendronate sodium use., Conclusions: The esophagus injuries associated with alendronate sodium are not frequent and seem to be associated with the incorrect use of medication. The endoscopists and pathologists should be alert to the possibility of alendronate sodium therapy in cases of diagnosis of ulcerative esophagitis in ancient patients, particularly in women. The recognition of this condition would improve the patient care.
