The urban environment is characterized by constant human actions that directly influence the reduction of natural ambiences and modification of habitats. Changes in the environment caused by man as deforestation, indiscriminate use of pesticides and urban sprawl, seem to be the main causes of imbalances in populations of scorpions. In the city of Americana, some species have adapted to the urban context, resulting in an increase in their frequency synanthropic. The Tityus serrulatus adapted to the home environment by enhancing the environmental conditions associated with aspects of their reproductive physiology and their habitat alternate sewage galleries that have become access roads to residences. Still in the early twentieth century, had complaints of cases with scorpions, favored by higher local relative humidity, because of hydrographic areas that skirted the city and also the rural areas of cereal crops, oranges, bananas, watermelons, cotton and cane sugar available at that time. This paper presents the historical contexts of the possible causes that eventually contributed to the origin of scorpion in urban areas of the municipality of Americana/SP. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
