Bearing in mind that readers and researchers show a limited interest in the book of Chronicles in comparison with other books of the Bible, the author evaluates the differences between it and the books of Samuel and Kings, in order to see how Chronicles contributed in the formation of the biblical canon. He dwells on the necessity of verifying which narrative strategies are used in the composition of the new work. A synoptic comparison is then made based on literary aspects. It appears that, when making use of existing canonical works, the chronicler omits and inserts material, intensifies the narrator's intrusion, and makes changes to the plot, advancing reflections on different theological themes. This fact imposes the observation that Chronicles has its specific role in the canon and is relevant for both reading and research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This photo essay portrays the circuit of preparation and offering of the Barquinhos de Iemanjá: small blue boats, approximately 40 centimeters long, made of cardboard, bearing props, flowers and food, which are the gifts destined for the orisha Iemanjá by the Centro Africano Ogum e Iansã in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The first records of this circuit were made during the preparation of those gifts in the terreiro, located in the city of Canoas, Rio Grande do Sul, and continued during the excursion route of the community to Santa Terezinha beach, in Imbé, North Coast of Rio Grande do Sul, where gifts in honor of Iemanjá have been offered annually. The photos show the ritualistic stages, endowed with complexities, powers and magnitudes, with different elements, hands that make and compound boats, scenes and manifestations of Afro-Brazilian religiosity in southern Brazil. SAE 52100 steel is not only used as a rolled raw material for bearing manufacturing but for building some rolling devices as well, such as guide rollers and straightener rollers. The purpose of this work is the characterization of a Fe-C-Mn-Si-Cr bearing alloy (SAE 52100 steel, modified with 1.74% Si) by plotting the variation of quenched and tempered hardness curve (tempering curve) and tempered martensite embrittlement susceptibility. The present application is based on the same idea as 300M steel regarding SAE 4340 steel. The effect of silicon on the kinetics of cementite precipitation leads to a rise in temperature of tempered martensite embrittlement. Quench and temper treatments were carried out and impact tests were performed with modified and commercial steels and the results were compared. Microstructure aspects are studied by scanning electron microscopy and x-ray diffraction analysis. The silicon alloyed steel presents great resistance to softening after tempering and no tempered martensite embrittlement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of this article is to develop a root cause fail identification technique in rolling bearings almost not known in Brazil up to now. This technique refers to the changing from traditional time-based lubrication, done upon manufacturers' recommendation and formulas taken from classic abacus to condition based lubrication. Rolling bearing are mandatory parts in a large amount of equipments, especially in dinamics. The most known technic for fail identification is vibration analysis, in its lots of technology degrees. However in many times the identification is made in a stage of the fail where it is not possible to fix, only it is possible to monitore it. That situation happens because of data collection is made based in severity charts, and fail can propagate in a fast mode between collections. With this condition based technique, it follows to purpose to the other predictive maintenance technique known as lubrication, which is so many times undervalued inside industries, the aquisition of important information from bearing ultrasound data collection. Since this important model apparatus are given to that lubrication acts in order to help vibration analysis technique to avoid over greasing and preventing bearing lack of lubrication, inspection based on condition.
