The article discusses the need to go beyond textual interpretation in literary studies, presenting the book "Methodology and Transdisciplinarity in Literary Studies" as a proposal for new research paths in the field. The chapters of the book explore approaches such as the sociology of literature and the study of correspondences between authors and editors, seeking to promote cooperation between disciplines and open new research perspectives in the field of Literature. A specific chapter discusses the influence of Machado de Assis on the production and circulation of his works, highlighting his involvement with his main editor, Baptiste-Louis Garnier. Another chapter addresses the importance of research in journals for the renewal of literary studies, using the example of the writer-journalist João do Rio. Finally, the importance of analyzing different editions and editorial choices in understanding literary works is discussed, using the example of Balzac's novel "Le Père Goriot".
