Introduction: The National Scientific Congress (NSC) is an annual event held in Peru in which medical students from all over the country present their research work. Objectives: To determine the publication rate in indexed scientific journals of research papers submitted to the NSCs held between 2010 and 2014, as well as the factors associated with their publication, and to describe the characteristics of the published papers. Materials and methods: Retrospective study in which 407 abstracts of research papers were reviewed. A publication time window of 6 years (from submission) was considered. A bivariate analysis was performed to assess differences between categorical and numerical variables using the chi-square and Mann-Whitney U tests, respectively. Introduction: The final paper has the purpose of bringing the student closer to the practice of research and experience with the ethical aspects which are relevant to intellectual property and research with human beings. Its elaboration facilitates the investigation of a problem and the elaboration of solutions that consolidate the knowledge acquired during the course. Objective: Featuring the graduation final paper in occupational therapy of a public university. Method: This is descriptive, qualitative-quantitative research that used data which were collected in 154 documents, as well as in questionnaires answered by 24 advisors. Results: The works were mostly literature review or documentary research, with a qualitative approach, which used the field notebook as a data collection instrument. The most studied areas were the Hospital Context and Family Health, in works related to the themes experienced by the students in projects of extension, research, disciplines or internship. The orientations were carried out only by the advisor, within their research areas, and the most found problem was the difficulty in the student’s writing process. The examination boards were made up of effective or temporary teachers from the own course, who signaled the methodology as the main failure of the work. Conclusion: The data showed that students need more opportunities to exercise and elaborate a scientific text before the moment of the final paper creation and those teachers need to support their pupils in the search for more diversified research objects, instruments, and methodologies.

The NBOMes are classified as new psychoactive substances and have recently become popular as drugs of abuse, being associated with several intoxication cases and even deaths, leading to its ban in several countries. Until now, the most widely used analytical instrument among forensic laboratories in Brazil is GC-MS. In this study, this instrumentation was employed for routine analyzes of twenty blotter paper seizure by Brazilian Federal Police (BFP) in the southernmost state of the country. However, to acquire more information about these samples, LC-QTOF/MS was used as a supplementary analysis to determinate degradation products, metabolites and unknown compounds. The GC-MS analysis detected only 25B-NBOMe, while the LC-QTOF/MS analysis detected 25B-NBOMe, 2C-B and MDMA. The compounds found in these analyzes are quite different from that found in the national profile of seizures by BFP, suggesting that another rout or supplier act in this region. For research and drug intelligence purposes the use of more versatile, sensitive and specific analytical tool provides a greater number of information that could be employed as a valuable strategy in the drug trafficking combat.

Backgound and Objectives: Considering the role of antibiotic prescription on the development of antimicrobial resistances, the aim of this study was to assess the reproducibility and the internal consistence of one questionnaire in web and paper versions, designed to study physicians’ knowledge about antibiotic use. Methods: It was developed an observational pilot study for questionnaire evaluation (test-retest) in the Grouping of Primary Care Facilities Grande Porto – II Gondomar, Portugal, which included 81 General Practitioners. The reproducibility and internal consistence were calculated, respectively, by Intraclass Correlation Coeffi cient and Cronbach’s alpha. Results: Response rate was higher for web-based than paper version questionnaire [57% (paper); 44% (online)]. Internal consistence (Cronbach’s alpha) of questionnaire, were satisfactory for both versions of the questionnaire [0,899 (online version); 0,770 (paper version)]. The results of Intraclass Correlation Coeffi cients were close for both versions of the questionnaire. Conclusions: Despite the results of both versions being close, the use of web-based questionnaires demands a deep analysis of its intrinsic limitations as a tool of data collection, namely because of the lower response rates or nonresponse bias.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the rate and others factors related with the publication of free papers presented at a national orthopedic meeting. METHODS: Using virtual databases we reviewed the studies presented at the 2004 Brazilian Congress of Orthopedics and Traumatology that were published, as well as related factors such as institution, sub-specialty, year, level of evidence, results and comparison between abstract presented and published. RESULTS: There were 58 studies published from 267 presented (21.73%). Seven (12.1%) were published in international and 51 (87.9%) in national journals, mainly RBO (55%). The publication rate was higher in the year of the event and the following year (37.9%). The sub-specialties of spine and knee showed the best correlation between the numbers of papers presented and published (respectively 40.9% and 37.9%). Most of the studies were cohort (65%) and experimental studies have been 34.5%. There was a tendency to publish positive results or statistically significant. Three institutions were responsible for most of the publications (53.4%). Works with higher level of evidence showed the highest rate of publication. The abstract published was modified in 68.5% of the form the presentation. CONCLUSIONS: This study presents data that compromises the quality of scientific of the abstracts presented at orthopedic meeting: most have a lower level of evidence and nearly 80% are not published.

The present study aims at identifying how the everyday life concept is used in the Occupational Therapy field in the English language literature and at making considerations in relation to the Brazilian literature on the subject. A systematic review of the international literature on the everyday life concept in the Occupational Therapy field was carried out and, from the results of this phase, reflections about the differences and similarities noticed in the use of this concept in the field of occupational therapy in Brazil are presented. Twenty articles selected from the CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel) database were elected for analysis. This analysis found that English speaking authors, on the issue of everyday life rupture, focus on the assistance needed to help individuals to be able to perform their former occupations in an autonomous way. Besides, the way people live their everyday lives is an element that constitutes the person’s identity; people become what they are from their occupations. Everyday life is described in occupational terms; it is understood by the meaningful things people do in their lives. It is pointed out that, as opposed to the national literature, the international literature does not focus on the connection between everyday life and the social-political-cultural context. Thus, we discuss that the understanding about the contextualized everyday life is shared with Brazilian occupational therapists, and it has the potential to be presented as a construct on which the Brazilian contemporary occupational therapy identity is built.

The paper reports the experience of Supervised Internship in Community Social Psychology from the State University of Piauí (UESPI) performed in a Basic Health Unit of Teresina, Piauí. The objectives of the internship were: insert themselves in everyday community, collect and interpret data from this reality, rise possible demands of work and develop intervention activities aimed at education and health promotion. There were home visits, counseling, referrals and especially playful activities with children in the waiting room. The creation of educational and preventive spaces in the community through popular education contributed to improving the quality of services and allowed a holistic and differentiated children who attend this service attention. Health promotion that subjects provided an opportunity to express their own perceptions of reality, with the prospect of linking health and living conditions, sharing the cultural, economic, psychological, social and environmental situations that have a serious impact on the health- disease process.

Os autores estudam o perfil de publicação de artigos sobre ortopedia e área de interesse em aparelho locomotor em revistas gerais, não específicas de ortopedia, com registro no PUBMED, em um período de dois anos. Selecionados 67 artigos com distribuição heterogênea entre as revistas estudadas foi constatada presença de 26,47% de artigos com desenho de intervenção e 38% com desenho observacional. Este estudo faz o levantamento de artigos publicados em periódicos científicos brasileiros nos últimos anos. O principal objetivo é chamar a atenção do público leitor da Acta Ortopédica Brasileira para as contribuições originais recentemente publicadas em periódicos não especialistas neste tema. Esperamos que isso sirva de atualização científica geral para os leitores. Cobrimos amplamente os artigos publicados em seis periódicos não-ortopédicos indexados pelo ISI, através de pesquisa realizada em 14 desses periódicos.This paper is a review of articles published in Brazilian scientific periodicals in recent years. Its main purpose is to bring to the attention of the readership of Acta Ortopedica Brasileira original contributions to the field published in non-specialized journals. We hope that this will serve as a general scientific update for readers. The review includes works published in six ISI indexed non-orthopedic journals, following a literature search conducted in fourteen such journals.

The modern science influence in the health field is reproduced mainly at the upbringing and the daily basis of the health professionals, this is translated in the ways of social inequality and requiresa change in the upbringing processes. This review study indicates ponderations, directresses and guidelines that allow the critical production of knowledge, tuning the dialogue of epistemology andmethodology formalizations. For the upbringing of independent individuals there is an argumentation that researches that criticize reality is a condition for the upbringing, allowing a dialogic formation in the health field. The objectives were to reflect about researches as a way to criticize reality, upbringing of independent individuals and health practice reconstruction; to indicate guidelines for scientific production in graduation and post graduation schools. The use of guidelines and regulations for scientific papers production, in the light of epistemology andacademic formalization dialogue, enables the comprehension of theoretical possibilities, ethics, politics and science technique.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) proposed this international historical cohort study trying to solve the controversy about the increased risk of cancer in the workers of the Pulp and Paper Industry. One of the most important aspects presented by this study in Brazil was the strategies used to overcome the methodological challenges, such as: data access, data accuracy, data availability, multiple data sources, and the large follow-up period. Through multiple strategies it was possible to build a Brazilian cohort of 3,622 workers, to follow them with a 93 percent success rate and to identify in 99 percent of the cases the cause of death. This paper, has evaluated the data access, data accuracy and the effectiveness of the strategies used and the different sources of data.

Este artigo objetiva identificar as associações das morbidades comuns e dos acidentes de trabalho com setor, descrevendo as cargas de trabalho e realizando um amplo controle de fatores de confusão. Através de delineamento transversal, estudou-se a totalidade dos trabalhadores de uma indústria de celulose e papel (n=671). Realizaram-se entrevistas nesta indústria, caracterizando a percepção dos trabalhadores sobre as exposições ocupacionais e a morbidade. A área industrial caracterizou-se pelo excesso de problemas auditivos (RO>2,5), respiratórios (RO>2,7) e acidentes (RO>4,7), possivelmente relacionados com ruído, poeira, mudanças bruscas de temperatura e exposições a substâncias químicas, além do trabalho físico pesado e exposições a situações de risco. A administração apresentou um aumento de problemas nos olhos, dor nas costas, irritação e nervosismo (RO>1,7), que parecem ter relação com a falta de autonomia e criatividade no trabalho, problemas ergonômicos e esforço visual. Confirmaram-se não só as altas prevalências de morbidades comuns, mas também sua relação com as particularidades do processo de trabalho sintetizadas pela categoria setor.The purpose of this study was to identify associations between common morbidity and work accidents and the respective departments in a pulp and paper industry, describing work loads and performing broad control of potential confounding factors. We studied all the workers from a specific pulp and paper industry, using a cross-sectional design and interviews at the workplace (n=671) with a standardized questionnaire. We characterized workers' perceptions of their occupational exposures and health problems. The industrial area had an excess in auditory problems (OR>2.5) and respiratory problems (OR>2.7) as well as accidents (OR>4.7). These diseases were probably related to the high prevalence of noise, dust, sudden temperature changes, exposure to various chemicals, and excessive effort and high-risk situations. Moreover, the management group showed an excess in eye problems, backache, irritation, and nervousness (OR>1.7), apparently related to lack of autonomy and creativeness at work, ergonomic problems, and strained eyesight. The study confirmed not only a high prevalence of common diseases, but also their relationship to specific features of the work process indicated by each department category.
