The construction industry is characterized as the main consumer of natural resources. However, it has great potential in terms of using industrial waste and by-products in the production of construction materials. The use of waste grits in the manufacture of pavers can be economically and sustainably viable, by minimizing environmental degradation and expanding techniques in the production of alternative materials in civil construction. The goal of this work was to manufacture concrete blocks floors with the partial addition of grits residue, in order to analyze their mechanical and physical properties and compare them with a conventional concrete blocks floors. The specimens were submitted to mechanical compressive strength test, dimensional analysis and water absorption according to ABNT NBR 12118/2013. The grits, when used in the production of mortar test specimens (20%) contributed to the improvement of the compressive strength, since it obtained, for the most part, higher values than the pilot mix and presented similar levels of water absorption.
