This paper presents the numerical and variational solutions of the 1D Schrödinger Equation submitted to the Pöschl-Teller potential. The methods used were the Variational Method and the Finite Difference Method. They were presented in a didactic and detailed way with the purpose of instructing both undergraduate and graduate students, about the applicability and effectiveness of the aforementioned methods. We use the Pöschl-Teller potential due to the fact that it is little explored in the books of Quantum Mechanics used in undergraduation courses and also because of its diverse applications, such as in Bose-Einstein condensates, waveguides, topological defects in field theory and so on. We conclude this paper comparing the variational and numerical solutions with the analytical solution and present the advantages of each method.

Eucalyptus urophylla S. T. Blake is one of the main eucalyptus species cultivated. However, there are no recommendations for testing its germination pattern. Thus, the objective of this work was to determine the best methodology to conduct seed germination tests for E. urophylla. The study was divided into two steps. In the first, two substrates (on paper and sand) and six temperatures (15, 20, 25, 30, 35ºC, and alternating 20-30ºC, between night and day, respectively) were tested. In the second step, the best substrate was selected based on the first experiment and was tested in two seeds lots and at the six temperatures previously mentioned. Germination, first count, speed index and the average germination time were evaluated. The experiment was in a completely randomized design with four replications and the treatments were arranged in a 2x6 factorial scheme for both steps. When comparing germination between lots, it was observed that lot 1 had a lower performance than lot 2 under extreme temperature conditions. Seed germination tests of E. urophylla should be made at 30 or 35ºC on the paper or sand substrate, with the initial and final counts at four and 10 days after sowing, respectively. Based on this study, more tests should be made with seeds from other lots and populations of E. urophylla to confirm the results. Eucalyptus urophylla S. T. Blake é uma das principais espécies de eucaliptos cultivadas. Entretanto, não existem recomendações para o teste padrão de germinação de E. urophylla. Assim, o objetivo foi determinar a melhor metodologia para a condução do teste de germinação de sementes de E. urophylla. O experimento foi dividido em duas etapas. Na primeira, foram testados dois substratos (sobre papel mata-borrão e areia) e seis temperaturas (constantes de 15, 20, 25, 30, 35ºC e alternada de 20-30ºC, entre noite e dia, respectivamente) na condução do teste de germinação. Na segunda etapa, foi selecionado o substrato mais indicado no experimento anterior e testado em dois lotes, nas seis temperaturas citadas anteriormente. Foram avaliadas a germinação, primeira contagem, índice de velocidade e tempo médio de germinação. O experimento foi realizado em delineamento inteiramente casualizado com quatro repetições e os tratamentos foram dispostos em esquema fatorial de 2 x 6 para ambas as etapas. Na comparação da germinação entre os lotes, observou-se que o lote 1 apresentou menor desempenho do que o lote 2 nas condições de temperaturas extremas. O teste de germinação de sementes de E. urophylla deve ser realizado a 30 ou 35°C com semeadura sobre papel ou areia, e com contagem inicial e final aos quatro e 10 dias após a semeadura, respectivamente. Com base nesta pesquisa, mais testes podem ser realizados, para outros lotes e sementes de E. urophylla de outras procedências, para garantir a confirmação dos resultados.

This study aims to verify the characteristics of the scientific production of papers in the area of Public or Government Accounting. It is a qualitative, descriptive, bibliographical survey that was used in bibliometrics to present the results. The data is from the papers published on Capes’ Periódicos website in the last 10 years (2007-2016), and a sample of 113 papers was stratified. The theoretical framework presents current papers, related to research in the area of public accounting, making evident the low production and great dispersion among the authors. Several authors report the growth of scientific interest in this area and show the need for bibliometric studies in this area. Based on a mix between the Laws of Bradford, Lotka and Zipf this bibliometric study shows that the periodicals with the greatest publication in the area are: Revista de Administração Pública (RAP), Revista de Gestão da USP, Revista Contabilidade & Finanças; and the Journal of Management, Finance and Accounting. The production is dispersed and the most prolific authors did not have more than 3 papers published in the period, although most of the productions have triple authorship. As for the methodology, most of the researches are qualitative, descriptive and are used as a documentary survey. The thematic was grouped in 16 foci, identified and compared to the intensity of annual production. This research corroborates previous studies, which claim that public accounting is a rapidly expanding area and requires bibliometric studies to guide research within the vast area of practice and considerable dispersion among authors in the area.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a eficiência do alginato de sódio na qualidade de sementes de soja em dois substratos, papel germitest® e areia. As sementes de soja encapsuladas com o alginato de sódio foram avaliadas por meio dos seguintes testes: germinação, primeira contagem de germinação, comprimento parte aérea e raiz de plântulas, massa de plântulas, índice de velocidade de germinação e emergência, plântulas anormais e sementes mortas. Os dados foram submetidos à análise de variância e as médias comparadas pelo teste Tukey à nível de 5% de probabilidade. As variáveis não apresentaram diferença significativa quando comparadas as sementes encapsuladas e o controle, exceto, para o comprimento de raiz no substrato papel germitest®, onde sementes não encapsuladas apresentaram as maiores médias. O encapsulamento de sementes de soja com alginato de sódio não apresentou efeito deletério sobre a qualidade das sementes, podendo ser utilizado como ferramenta para uso na agricultura. The aim of this work was evaluate the soil efficiency in the quality of soybean seeds in two substrates: germitest® paper and sand. Soybean seeds encapsulated with sodium alginate were evaluated by following tests: germination, first germination count, shoot length and root of seedlings, seedling mass, germination and emergency speed index, abnormal seedlings and seed kills. Data results were submitted to analysis of variance and as averages compared by the Tukey test at the 5% probability level. As variables did not present difference, when compared as encapsulated seeds and control, except for the root length without substrate germitest® paper, where non-encapsulated seeds showed higher mean values. The encapsulation of soybean seeds with sodium alginate had no effect on seed quality and could be used as a tool for agricultural use.

This paper aims to analyze the role of sugarcane industry as an energy supplier in the Brazilian matrix. The increasing global demand for renewable and less polluting energy sources makes sugar cane derived a very attractive alternative for clean energy production. Accordingly, this paper seeks to check the current participation of sugarcane in the total energy matrix and identify its possibilities, limitations and its positive and negative sights. This paper aims to report on the University extension activities based on the principles of the Solidarity Economy, developed by teachers and students from several campuses of UNESP, in partnerships with other institutions and the communities involved. In addition to a brief history of the Solidarity Economy in Brazil, and the opportunities and challenges of Technological Incubators for Popular Cooperatives (ITCPs), the paper presents important considerations for an Institutional Program aimed at strengthening and expanding the role of such Incubators at UNESP.

We can know a people through their cultural and artistic assets. One of the many aspects of Japanese culture is origami, a fusion of the verb “oru”, which means folding, with the word “kami” meaning paper. In this communication, we describe the course “Origami and Kirigami: art and culture as a recreational and educational resource”. The course aimed to present these two oriental techniques based on paper and its potential as a source of entertainment and education, at the same time seeking to introduce cultural aspects of these arts of folding and/or cutting paper. This practice is more common than we realize, and is present in our day-to-day life when we perform actions such as folding clothes and papers, and making packages, amongst others. However, few are aware of the benefits that this folding brings to the fields of Arts, Mathematics, and Science, besides its recreational characteristics. Kirigami is a mixed technique that in addition to using folds in the paper (as in origami) also uses cuts (“kiru” – meaning, “cut”). It can be performed with heavier paper than origami, and by introducing some cuts, the paper can be folded to form the desired shape. It is a simple technique, with impressive results. We conducted eight weekly meetings, each lasting four hours, totaling 32 hours of coursework. In addition to the classes, a visit was made to the Okinawa Club in Bauru (São Paulo), where it was possible for the students of the course and the elderly group (fujinkai) of origamists of the club to exchange experiences. Finally, an exhibition was organized to display the artifacts produced by the course participants and disseminate the work of the students.

After 1990's access expansion to education for students with special needs has emerged as a very pertinent issue regarding educational policies. In this scenario, we emphasize the teaching of geography for the visually impaired, blind and low vision students, focusing more specifically on the graphics in teaching geography. The objective of this paper is to report the experiences obtained from August 2008 to August 2009 by UNESP at Rio Claro extension group entitled "Tactile Cartography and MAPAVOX: An alternative way to construct tactile maps and games". During practices conducted for this paper histograms and pie charts were constructed with active participation of students in the whole process. The methodology used in this article was the qualitative research in education, creating an unparalleled analysis of the results and building reports from practices at special school. The final built tactile charts turned to be an important alternative method for teaching graphics for blind and low vision students, using simple features such as low cost materials and taking into account the concern and understanding of visually impaired students in the construction of tactile graphics. The survey results used as the basis for the article will also serve as the basis for the construction of a guide book for teachers who have students who are blind or have low vision in her classroom.

The objective of this paper is to present some reflections brought up by sexual orientation projects developed in public schools. By considering the concept of sexuality as the expression of social, cultural and historical conditions in which individuals are inserted, the general objective of this work was to allow a scientific view, as wide and deep as it could be in regard to sexuality; as well as, to provide information, to promote discussions, to question current ideas, and to promote the resignification of the information and the incorporated life values in the life of each child and young. In this sense, the sexual orientation took into account the sexual development, that is, the reproductive health, relationship among people, affectivity, corporal image, self-esteem and gender relationship it also focused on the physiological, sociological and psychological dimensions of sexuality. Several professionals can act as sexual advisors; however, this paper will analyze the peculiarities of this kind of work when developed by professionals of Psychology. This work involved activities with the students, the families and the teachers. There were weekly 1 hour and 30 minute meetings with the students within the regular school hours during the whole school year of 2004. When the work was done directly inside the classrooms the teachers participated while the activities were applied to the students. The teachers, in that case, also took part in weekly meetings in order to prepare and evaluate activities together with the researchers. The work with the families was accomplished through visits to their houses and bimonthly meetings at the school. The positive results reinforce the idea that the schools should assume a clear commitment to the development of projects on sexual orientation. In this way, it is fundamental that public policies be created so as to guarantee the necessary formation for advisors. In this context, the universities, especially the public ones, can play an important role.

Based on the principles of psychiatric reform, new resources and professional therapeutic stepped in to compose the work of teams of health, aiming to construct other possible reatments besides the doctor-centered. The aim of this paper is to report the experience of university extension for the use of Capoeira Angola as a tool and therapeutic agent in treating people with psychological distress, users of psychotropic drugs, seeking assistance at the Centers for Psychosocial Support. The paper also provides, within the approach of Somatic Psychology, some of the features that Capoeira was able to offer as a psychotherapeutic tool.

This paper has the objective to present the extension course “professional qualification solidary extension project at electronics: technical auxiliar” in the Electrical Engineering course in the University Center of Belo Horizonte, as a professional qualification activity that make possible to young, adults and elderly people from poor communities the social inclusion and an opportunity to improve their access to the labor market. The course is part of extension program of Uni-BH, UniTrabalho e Renda, that is offered since 2006. The responsible for the course are professors and students of the Electrical Engineering course, and an electricity project is also offered. This paper presents the results of an evaluation that is made for the students at the beginning and at the end of the course and showed that the concepts had been assimilated by the students and the expectation of them related to the insertion at labor market is also improved.

In 2004, the Brazilian Ministry of Environment issued a call for projects for a national survey on invasive alien species aimed at collecting, organizing and disseminating information on invasive alien species in Brazil. In this paper we review the existing scientific knowledge and legal regulations on biological invasions in Brazil prior to the National Survey, the progress made since then, the gaps persisting ten years later, and make recommendations for future work. We found 143 scientific papers and 65 legal regulations on invasive alien species published between 1999 and 2014. Data indicate the National Survey is a milestone on the subject in Brazil, as the publication of regulations and articles increased significantly after 2005. Although numerous advances were identified, they are not suficient for the topic to be considered consolidated in Brazil. Advances made were greatly due to the mobilization of civil society organizations and research groups working separately. More ambitious and relevant research and management projects are required in upcoming years to ensure the advancement of invasion science in Brazil in ways that may also contribute internationally. Finally, consolidating management practices and actions into an integrated legal framework is key to effectively enable the prevention, management and control of biological invasions. Em 2004, o Ministério do Meio Ambiente contratou a elaboração do Informe Nacional sobre Espécies Exóticas Invasoras, cujos objetivos eram a coleta, a sistematização e a divulgação de informações no Brasil. Neste artigo, revisamos o que existia de conhecimento científico e normativas legais sobre invasões biológicas no Brasil antes do Informe, fazemos uma avaliação dos avanços e lacunas nos 10 anos pós-Informe e sugerimos direções futuras. Encontramos 143 artigos científicos e 65 marcos legais sobre espécies exóticas invasoras publicados entre 1999 e 2014. Os dados indicam que o Informe Nacional representa um divisor de águas para o tema no Brasil, a partir do qual aumentou a frequência da publicação de normas legais e pesquisas científicas. Identificamos avanços, ainda que aquém do necessário para considerar o tema consolidado no país. Os avanços obtidos se devem em parte à mobilização do terceiro setor e a grupos de pesquisa trabalhando separadamente. Para os próximos anos devem ser promovidos projetos de pesquisa, manejo e gestão mais ambiciosos e relevantes para fazer avançar o tema no país, contribuir para seu avanço em termos globais, embasar ações práticas de manejo e consolidar um arcabouço legal integrado que efetivamente permita-nos prevenir, manejar e controlar invasões biológicas.

Sacaca is a medicinal plant from the Amazonian biome and it has been regarded as a substitute for rosewood (Aniba roseaodora) to produce linalool. This paper aimed to evaluate in vitro vegetative propagation of sacaca, including the establishment of propagules from the field, decontamination protocols, and determination of multiplication rates, besides describing limiting aspects for the culture during in vitro experiments. We used 1.0 cm microcuttings with an axillary bud, collected from adult plants in the field. Disinfestation treatments were tested in the establishment, and there is an evaluation of the collecting month influence on the contamination rates. After disinfestation, microcuttings were placed in test tubes containing MS medium, added with BAP (0, 1, 2 and 3 mg L-1) and GA3 (0 and 0.5 mg L-1). In vitro establishment of sacaca with 41.9% of sprouted microcuttings was obtained. The contamination rate reached 58.1% (65.4% caused by fungi and 34.6% by bacteria), with greater occurrence when propagules were collected between October and January, the rainiest months in the Amazon region. The increased BAP and GA3 concentrations in the culture medium provided significant improvements in the material multiplication rates. In spite of the results obtained, the species shows peculiarities and limitations to in vitro cultivation that were identified and described in this paper. A sacaca é uma planta medicinal do bioma Amazônico e tem sido considerada como substituta do pau-rosa (Aniba roseodora) na produção de linalol. Este trabalho objetivou avaliar a propagação vegetativa in vitro de sacaca, incluindo o estabelecimento de propágulos do campo, protocolos de descontaminação e a determinação de taxas de multiplicação, além de descrever aspectos limitantes da cultura durante os trabalhos in vitro. Foram utilizadas microestacas de 1,0 cm, com uma gema axilar, coletadas de plantas adultas do campo. Tratamentos de desinfestação foram testados no estabelecimento, além de se avaliar a influência do mês do ano da coleta sobre as taxas de contaminação. Após desinfestadas, as microestacas foram inoculadas em tubos de ensaio com meio MS, suplementado com BAP (0, 1, 2 e 3 mg L-1) e AG3 (0 e 0,5 mg L-1). Foi obtido o estabelecimento in vitro da sacaca com 41,9% das microestacas brotadas. A taxa de contaminação alcançou 58,1% (65,4% de origem fúngica e 34,6% de origem bacteriana), com maior ocorrência quando os propágulos foram coletados entre os meses de outubro e janeiro, os mais chuvosos da região amazônica. O aumento nas concentrações de BAP e AG3 no meio de cultura melhorou as taxas de multiplicação do material. Apesar dos resultados obtidos, a espécie apresenta uma série de peculiaridades e limitações ao cultivo in vitro que foram identificadas e relatadas neste trabalho.

Este artigo tem como objetivo recuperar, valorizar e explorar as práticas culturais do grupo étnico Nyanekankhumbi do Sudoeste de Angola na visão etnomatemática evidenciadas no processo de construção de casas de pau-a-pique, tendo em conta a multiculturalidade social escolar que se verifica quase um pouco por todo lado, e em particular, Portugal com um número considerável e crescente de emigrantes africanos e de outras partes do mundo. Cada vez mais se torna pertinente preservar a memória cultural destes povos. O artigo apresenta uma introdução inerente aos estudos etnomatemáticos realizados em África por vários autores; uma metodologia baseada à conversa informal com elementos do grupo, à observação participante e a entrevistas, apoiada pelo registo fotográfico e notas de campo; os resultados da pesquisa foram desenvolvidas na Huíla (Angola) onde foram registados vários conhecimentos matemáticos impregnados com a construção de casas tradicionais dos Nyaneka-nkhumbi que podem ser aproveitados na criação de tarefas no contexto de formação, assunto em curso no projeto de doutoramento do primeiro autor., This paper aims to recover, develop, explore and expand the cultural practices of the ethnic group Nyanekankhumbi from southwestern Angola from an ethnomathematical perspective evidenced in the construction of houses of cob wall, keeping in mind the social multiculturalism of schools that exists, in part, almost everywhere, and in particular, in Portugal with a considerable and growing number of immigrants from Africa and other parts of the world. It becomes increasingly relevant to preserve the cultural memory of these people. This paper presents an introduction to the ethnomathematics studies in Africa by various authors usnig a methodology based on informal conversation with group members, participant observation, and interviews, supported by photographic records and written field notes. Diffi culties related to the use of tests of comparison of averages in scientifi carticles. The objective of this work was to verify the researcher’s main diffi culties in the use of means comparison tests, as well as to propose alterna- tives for a better statistical inference. For a correct application of the statis- tical tests it is fundamental for the researcher to know the experimental design, the factors, the variables and the treatments that will constitute the work, because these are decisive in the choice of the statistical test. Two hundred and ninety-two scientifi c papers from plant sciences were revised. These papers were published in the Brazilian Qualis A journal, from 2000 until 2006. The papers were classifi ed by their use of means comparison tests as i) appropriate, ii) partially appropriate, and iii) inappropriate. There were diffi culties involved in choosing the correct statistical procedure in relation to the experimental design used. The papers in which more than one factor was studied (75%) were classifi ed as inadequate due to their abuse of the means comparison tests. On the other hand, 3% and 22% were classifi ed as partially appropriate and appropriate, respectively. Este trabalho teve como objetivo verificar quais as principais dificuldades dos pesquisadores com relação ao uso de testes de comparação de médias, bem como propor alternativas para uma melhor inferência estatística. Para uma aplicação correta dos testes estatísticos é fundamental o conhecimento por parte do pesquisador, do delineamento experimental, dos tipos de fatores, das variáveis respostas e dos tratamentos que irão constituir o seu trabalho. Foram revisados duzentos e noventa e dois (292) trabalhos científi cos na área de fitotecnia, publicados num periódico da área das Ciências Agrárias, Qualis A nacional, no período compreendido entre 2000 e 2006. Para tanto, os artigos foram classificados quanto à utilização de testes de comparação de médias em: i) apropriado; ii) parcialmente apropriado; iii) inapropriado. Existe dificuldade na escolha do procedimento correto em relação ao tipo de fator experimental estudado, sendo que dos trabalhos que empregaram mais de um fator, (75%) foram classificados como inapropriados devido ao abuso dos testes de comparações de médias. Os demais, que representam 3% e 22%, foram classificados como parcialmente apropriados e apropriados, respectivamente.

This paper seeks to address some difficulties deaf subjects have to cope with regarding communication and inclusion in their professional environment. This reflection was originated by the invitation to the extension project “Portuguese Language Resources and Teaching Materials as L2 for the Deaf”, from UERJ, to offer a differentiated lecture to an engineering company, during the Semana Interna de Prevenção de Acidentes de Trabalho (SIPAT - Internal Work Accident Prevention Week). As a general line of the presentation, we have considered emphasizing the linguistic and cultural differences of deaf workers in their jobs in the company as well as suggesting ways of communication in emergency situations. We have observed that the company workers felt more involved with the appreciation of the sign language and the care of the deaf worker in case of accidents, stressing the importance of Libras in labor environments.

This paper analyzes the performance of insulators subjected to pollution levels related to two topologies of 15 kV voltage class polymeric distribution isolators. A software was used to simulate the influence of various levels of pollution on the operation of insulators. Pollution layers with the variation of conductivity and permittivity parameters were modeled on the surface of the insulators and the electric potential, the electric field and the current density in the polymeric isolators were obtained by computer simulation. The results showed the increase of the electric potential distribution, the electric field and the current density of the insulators as the pollution intensity increases. The results proved that the topology with four sheds performs better in polluted conditions. Thus, it can be concluded that in long distribution lines different insulator topologies can be used, according to the region and microclimate that the insulators are exposed.

This paper studies the notion of will in Nietzsche’s philosophy. In order to do so, we started this article reading the aphorisms found in the works of the German philosopher that belong to the last two phases of his production: the intermediate and the late stage. At the same time, from the attainment of the speculative notion of will, we try to discuss the results obtained by researches in the area of experimental psychology. The analysis of Nietzsche’s notion of will, as an idea that contradicts free will and its attribute of a constitutive element of morality, indicates the reasons for Nietzsche’s critique of free will. Finally, after the refutation of free will performed by the will as a necessity, the idea of innocence of the becoming as a presupposition for the transvaluation project for all values.

Indicators are important tools to guide and assist decision-makers. They are also important to get to know the scenario of a given place and monitor its development. This study aimed to analyze the behavior of the municipalities of Marajó-PA through indicators that cover social, economic, housing and sanitation, using a statistical technique of multivariate analysis to group these into a small number of homogeneous groups. In order to choose the indicators, we carried out a checklist of national, regional and local academic papers dealing with sustainability. Then, the indicators were standardized according to the different units and scales of measurement, not influencing the result and presenting similar weights in the calculation of the similarity coefficient. The measure of dissimilarity used was the euclidean distance and for the composition of the groupings the Ward and k-Means methods were applied. The result obtained using Ward’s hierarchical grouping method enabled the reduction of the numbers of municipalities to a number of 4 probable groups with similar attributes within the group and distinct among the others. It also presented a cofenetic correlation coefficient (CCC) of (r = 0.81), indicating a good degree of fit between the dendrogram and the dissimilarity matrix. The results indicated that the formation of the clusters and the municipalities integrated in them presented similarity both in the hierarchical and non-hierarchical methods. In the k-means method it was found that almost all municipalities that make territorial division remained within the same group.

This paper is an experience report about an extension project developed at Universidade do Estado da Bahia – Campus XII (Guanambi). The project aims to offer workplace exercises for the employees of this institution, in order to contribute to their quality of life, and to sensitize them to adopting a healthy lifestyle. The classes took place between April and November of 2017. This report comes from the observations during the classes and the questionnaire applied to the participants at the end of project. It was possible to identify the contributions of the laboral gymnastics to the servants through the manifestations when they did the activities, especially the recreational ones, also through their social interactions, conversations about the continuity of the project, their answers to the questionnaires, mainly regarding the decrease of muscular pains, and finally, their understanding about the importance of the workplace exercises.

The process of teaching and learning chemistry is still considered difficult, for even with all the technology available for its improvement, this same issue is responsible for students’ distraction in class. The most common example are smartphones, which are devices that are increasingly versatile and have been inserted into the daily lives of almost all people. The use of mobile devices in the classroom can be a useful alternative for teachers to overcome the difficulties inherent in this process. This paper aims to present the contribution of educational android games in the process of learning organic functions at a public school in the city of Pau dos Ferros (RN). Initially, we use the Google Play Store® platform to check the availability of games dealing with organic chemistry topics. We choose four applications to be used as a supplementary methodology for solving exercises related to organic chemistry. Furthermore, we collected students’ opinions regarding the method used. We observed that these devices when used in a controlled, planned and an appropriate way can contribute to a positive approach to the motivation and interest of students during class.

Technological tools are part of contemporary life, so it is common for children to have a very early contact with some kind of electronic device such as mobile phone, tablet, computer or video game. Our paper has as its theme the influence of technology on children development and deals with the relationship between childhood and technology in our time and its implications. Our general aim was to contextualize the influence of the use of technology on children development, and, as specific objectives, to identify which areas are affected by its use, to analyze the consequences of this influence in childhood, and understand the relationship between childhood and technology. The problem is presented by the following guiding question: "What do the authors and professionals in the field say about this?" We adopted as a methodology the bibliographic review, characterized as qualitative descriptive. We concluded that the excessive use of technological tools is detrimental to children's education and development. However, when used moderately, they do have a positive influence and may offer benefits, including in teaching-learning area.

This paper aims to study the importance of a good management of the Gazivoda reservoir. In the instable region of Balkans, water is considered a strategic resource. Crossing the disputed border between Kosovo and Serbia, Gazivoda’s water plays an important role for economies and water supply in both countries. The desire of controlling Gazivoda may disrupt the relationship that Kosovo and Serbia report. Claims from ethnic minorities of Serbs in Kosovo, and Albanians in Serbia might pose risks to current frontiers. Borders need to be respected to achieve stability. Foreign models of cooperation can be followed in order to achieve a good management successful for society on both sides of the border.

The Melaleuca alternifoliaisashruboriginating of Australia, belonging theclassofeudicotyledonous angiosperms. Inrecentyears, itschemicalcompositionandbiologicalactivities havebeenthesubjectofintensescientificanalysis. Thus, thisarticle aims to investigate how the studies on Melaleuca alternifoliain Brazil and their use in research areas conform. To this end, a review of the Brazilian literature was performed, with a systematic search in three electronic databases, namely: Scielo, web of Science and Google Scholar. Twenty years of production were selected,from 1999 to 2019. Were selected and analyzed for review152 scientific papers. The Melaleuca alternifoliahas been found to be an important medicinal plant in Brazilian studies, involving several thematic axes, such as agriculture, aquaculture and public health, for example. Thesystematic review also showed that it, besides being known in folk medicine, has been scientifically tested and expresses larvicidal, repellent, aromatic, insecticidal, antimicrobial, biocidal and antifungal activity.

According to the World Health Organization, in 2017, Brazil was considered the most anxious country in the world, with 9.3% of the population diagnosed with the disorder. Thus, explaining and treating anxiety have becomea challenge for different psychological theories, including Behavior Analysis. The aim of this paper is to systematize how the national analytical-behavioralliterature has discussed anxiousbehavior. For this, a bibliographic-exploratory research has beenconducted, whose sources arearticles published in national journals specialized in Behavior Analysis, and which presented some of the anxiety subtypes used by the DSM-V. Fifteen articles have beenselectedand documented, whose informationhas beengrouped into analysis categories compilingthe main themes associated with the discussion of anxiety. The analytical-behavioralliterature criticizes teleological and internalist conceptions of anxiety, and understands it as a complex behavioral phenomenon, since its explanation involvesphylogenetic, ontogenetic and cultural aspects. Despite its complexity, analytical-behavioraldiscussions have focused on the ontogenetic level. In this domain, anxious behavior exhibits interactionsofreflex and operant responses, with overtand coverttopographies, which occurin order to avoidcontact with conditioned aversive stimuli. Although it can also be understood as “ordinary”, different models and analytical-behavioralpsychotherapeutic techniques (FAP, SiMCCIT) have beencited to deal with anxious behavior as a clinical complaint. It highlights the importance of Behavior Analysis to expand the studies on anxiety at the cultural level, seeking strategiesfor prevention and coping with the phenomenon with wider potentiality.

This paper aims to identify the voluntary motivations that lead people to volunteer at the House of the Child with Cancer. The empirical part of the article had as a locus the House of the Child with Cancer located in the municipality of João Pessoa/PB. The empirical data was collected based on the theoretical model of Cavalcante (2012), which identifies the motivations within voluntary work. Through this research it is possible to manage people in the third sector. The quantitative method of research was applied, including the use of 30 questionnaires with all volunteers working in the House of the Child with Cancer. Statistical measures were used for data analysis, standard deviation and coefficient of variation. The results showed that, in the following order, the major motivational variables of the research participants in the institution are related to: selflessness, learning and social justice. It is also observed that the selfish motivational variable was the least relevant for the volunteers in terms of voluntary motivation.

This paper aimed to evaluate the use of thermography as an aid method for the early diagnosis of breast cancer in female dogs assisted at the Veterinary Hospital of IFPB Campus Sousa. Five female dogs diagnosed clinically with mammary neoplasia were selected for this study. The protocol was listed in the chronological order of medical care: anamnesis, physical examination of the tumours, thermography, surgery and collection of material for histopathological examination. Patients underwent thermographic examination with the Flir® Thermovisor equipment, model T420. The examination took place in an acclimatized room and upon permission of the animal’s tutor. 60% were pure breed female dogs. Tumours were observed in three non-castrated female dogs and two castrated ones. The masses exhibited three macroscopic presentation patterns. The majority of them were nodular, followed by pendular and flat. Masses in animal 1 showed no increase in volume and there was no difference in temperature between the breast affected by neoplasia and healthy one, whereas for animals 2, 3, 4 and 5 there was an increase in temperature of 0.6ºC, 1.0°C, 1.2°C and 2.3°C, respectively. Three different types of carcinoma were found according to histopathological examination: complex carcinoma, tubular and tubulo-papillary carcinoma. In 100% of the animals the lesions were malignant, reporting high frequency of malignant epithelial tumours in the canine species. Based on these results, it was concluded that no direct relationship was found between the thermographic imaging pattern among the types of malignant mammary tumours in female dogs. Therefore, the conception of new studies on the matter is necessary due to the small number of animals on this research, where it was not possible to affirm the capacity of the thermography in the early differentiation of the malignancy of the masses. Future researches in oncology will promote a better understanding of the pathological aspects related to mammary tumours.

Known as the house of Zé Pereira, the house n° 243, located in the town of Princesa Isabel, became a property listed by the Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage of the State of Paraíba - IPHAEP in the year 2005, the starting point for the actions to preserve material and immaterial heritage of its history. In the face of a copy of the residential architecture of the republican period of the early twentieth century, this article aims to describe the methods used in the documentation of architectural building. The first step to safeguard the records of time there was to verify which methods could be associated to the architectural survey in loco and they were the following: measuring per pathway, the triangulation and the trilateration that have low cost application, in addition to easy implementation. In order to scan the information gathered the technology Computer Aided Design - CAD and Building Information Modeling – BIM were used, to store information and 3D reconstructions of the building in separate steps. This article has emerged as an academic extension and was finalized as a final term paper of the Technical course on Constructions in the year 2016. Results showed not only possibilities for accurate documentation of architectural features, but also some limitations depending on the stage of the survey.

Nowadays, engineers need more than technical expertise. They need to have a holistic view and entrepreneurial skills. The newly graduated enters the labor market with a lot of content and little practical experience, and through experiential methodologies, teachers can reduce student’s insecurity by providing him/her an environment of skills development. The use of serious games enables the student to learn in a simulated environment, associated with his/her own experience. Several games have been designed for teaching, especially in the Engineering realm. The purpose of this article is to present a literature review about games used in Engineering education, mainly applied in construction, transport and management. In this paper we highlighted the objectives and behavioral characteristics that the games intend to develop in engineers.

In the current economic scenario of the Brazilian federal universities, it is a great challenge to acquire high resolution and high accuracy equipment for use in metrology practical classes. As an alternative, it is common the development of projects aiming the design and construction of low-cost courseware equipment. They are built within extension activities involving graduation students. This paper reports the development of two pieces of equipment for use in practical classes of the discipline “Principles of Industrial Metrology”, of the Mechanical Engineering course at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). The activity was supported by the Extension Office (ProEx) and had, as a premise, the use of low-cost materials and manufacturing processes. Within the proposed scope, a universal measuring table and a linear measuring machine were developed. The constructive process allowed to verify that the exercise of simple practices is a motivating experience for the student who was directly involved in the activity and for the students who use the produced equipment.

Algorithms for blind source separation have been extensively studied in the last years. This paper proposes the use of multiresolution analysis in three decomposition levels of the wavelet transform, such as a preprocessing step, and the AMUSE algorithm to separate the source signals in distinct levels of resolution. The results show that there is an improvement in the estimation of the signals and the of mixing matrix even in noisy environment if compared to the use of AMUSE only.

In this paper we applied weighted correlation networks in order to discover correlation structures and link patterns of sixteen garlic variables related to leaf, bulb and other vegetative and growth variables. By using the Fruchterman-Reingold algorithm, correlation clusters and other structures could be easily identified. Overall, we detected a link between clusters of leaf and bulb variables. The harvest index was negatively associated with vegetative variables, as expected. In addition, bulb growth rate was positively associated with leaf area rate, root growth rate and plant liquid assimilation rate.

This paper is part of a larger study. It aims to analyze the concept of Quality of Life at Work(QLW) at IFRN campuses in Natal in comparison with campuses that show results with opposite tendencies, related to the most significant factors: working conditions, well-being and linkage between work and social life. This is a qualitative descriptive study and the open survey formis used as research instrument. The sample was composed of 774 participants. The working condition was the most significant factor in almost all analyzed macro-regions – with the exception of the new campuses, which had the well-being as the main factor. Regarding the working conditions factor, Natal Central Campus and Cidade Alta Campus show opposite tendencies, presenting aspects such as security and infrastructure in the first positions. In contrast to the central tendency, the well-being factor has as its main aspects the physical activity and nourishment – at EAD Campus, Zona Norte, Parnamirim and Reitoria. Concerning the linkage between work and social life, we emphasize the aspects motivation and balance between work and social life at campuses: EAD, Parnamirim, Zona Norte and Cidade Alta. In spite of the importance of a macro-diagnosis, it is crucial to analyze the data of each campus in order to guarantee the reliability of its peculiarities in the diagnostic of the concept of QLW at IFRN.

This paper refers to the analysis of the innovative form in the construction of Right to the Environment in the interamerican jurisprudence of human rights and the possibility of international actions against a country, like Brazil, due to the denial in environmental quality of life. Considering that both theory and national and international Courts are recognizing the need to protect the environment as a human right, this study will assess the content of this right in international environmental law. This research intends to analyze details of the intersection between human rights and environmental foundations for sustainable development. In this context, the construction of the environmental protection concept in the Inter-American System of Human Rights and cases in which Brazil was sued internationally in this system will be verified. Special attention will be given to the installation of the Belo Monte hydroelectric plant in traditional indigenous areas in the Xingu River basin and the international action against Brazil. It is important for the development of the theme, to analyze the probable results of an international action against Brazil, because of national problems of lack of effectiveness, such as denial of justice and quality of life.

The Special Issue of Revista Fronteiras: Journal of Social, Technological and Environmental Science presents complete articles from papers presented during the 6th Ibero-American Congress on Qualitative Research (CIAIQ) and 2nd International Symposium on Qualitative Research (ISQR). In the year 2017 were held in the city of Salamanca - Spain, in July (12 to 14). Coordinated by the researchers Cecília Guerra (Universidade de Aveiro, Portugal), Patrícia Sá (Universidade de Aveiro, Portugal), Rebeca Teja (Universidade Autónoma do Estado do México, México), and Jaime Ribeiro (Politécnico de Leiria, Portugal). This issue brings selected works, always based on the careful evaluation of the editorial team and the scientific board of these important events. Fronteiras, as well as other important Brazilian and international journals, has provided the scientific dissemination of relevant works dealing with qualitative methodologies, which links us to a worldwide network of diffusion of qualitative research in different approaches and methodological procedures.

The recent development and use of digital fabrication techniques for architecture, product design, engineering, construction, among many others, has caused impact changes on design processes since its beginning until final construction. New construction methods have been developed with the use of those new techniques, spreading many ways of possibilities hardly achieved before. Nowadays, spaces called FABLABs offer a range of procedures and equipment that provide the manufacture of scale models, prototypes or final elements in different fidelity degrees. This paper shows the possibilities and activities being implemented, with the use of technology, at PRONTO3D - Prototyping and New 3D Oriented Technology Laboratory, at UFSC, that belongs to PRONTO3D Network Labs, in Santa Catarina State, since 2013.

The Biomechanics Engineering Laboratory (LEBm/HU-UFSC) is a reference center in education and research as well as in the technological development of the health field including pre-clinical testing of biomedical devices. The critical assessment of safety and effectiveness of biomedical devices requires a definition of clinically relevant metrics that allow quantifying the risks associated with their use. In Brazil, the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) controls the regulatory affairs and permission for commercialization of medical devices upon demonstration that the product is free from unacceptable risks. Therefore, achieve the minimum requirements for commercialization of products developed in Brazil are of utmost importance to the national industry and can positively impact on the trade balance of the Brazilian medical devices companies. In this paper the work of LEBm/HU-UFSC in the development of the medical devices field and in the formation of human resources for the pre-clinical evaluation of surgical implant technologies manufactured in Brazil is described.

This paper presents the operations of the Diversity Project which was developed by the Human Rights Secretariat of the Central Directory of a higher education institution students in the municipality of Novo Hamburgo-RS. The methodological axis theorizations arising from cultural studies, this project aimed to represent and accept ethnic and racial identity, gender and sexual orientation purposes with the promotion of human rights and citizenship on and by the institution. Therefore, the Diversity Project had developed activities as a form of representation of these political minorities. As proposed political and social; the Diversity Project provided an opportunity privileged spaces for political discussion on racism, sexism and homophobia, encouraging positivization ethnic and gender identities, as an educational proposal; it offered theoretical and practical subsidies for the promotion of educational practices with the purpose of promoting social equality, citizenship and human rights.

This paper presents four elements considered as positive in the preparation of rondonistas of a public “IES” and it is expected that may be useful for other teams. In a public “IES”, the budget for such purposes is scarce and its obtaining process is bureaucratic. Finally, we raised R $ 1,275.00 net by selling 150 pizzas. The second element was a training in facilitative leadership, the result of a partnership with a consulting people development. The third positive development was a result of the search for staff training: the approach of rondonistas with the surrounding university community. The last, but not least point to highlight was the involvement of deputies (teacher and student) in training activities. The aim was that in case of need to take someone's post, they were already involved with the project.

This paper seeks to understand the discourses revealed through the photos by ethnologist Curt Nimuendajú, in the first half of the nineteenth century, of the Brazilian Indians visited by him. This writing seeks the construction of discursive meaning through “anthropological” photos taken by this ethnologist, giving some of his photos of the Apinaye as an example. These photographs can allow us to understand how the “other” (in this case the Brazilians indigenous) was seen by Nimuendajú as a researcher of the cultures of several Brazilian peoples. The methodology used in this work is the analysis of the speeches of photographic images. Regarding the results, it can be said that Nimuendajú, in the photos taken by him, reveals the indigenous as dignified, strong and proud of their culture.

The paper discusses the territorial conflicts related to the use and occupation of the soil in a tourist destination of second residence. The empirical study was carried out in the County of Matinhos, Parana coast. The objective of the analysis was the work of the Coastal Territorial Development Council (CTDC), responsible for implementing the legal basis on land use and occupation on the coast of Parana. For that, it was analyzed the meeting minutes of this institution, with application of the methodological tools of Content Analysis (CA). The relational perspective of territorial analysis of Claude Raffestin provided theoretical support for the interpretation of the results. In the longitudinal analysis carried out it became evident that the COLIT collegiate turned into a field of dispute of political forces. Additionally, it is perceived that municipalities and the local private sector have assumed an increasingly important role, defending the reduction of constructive restrictions as a means of guarantee the economic prosperity of the municipality.

At the beginning of the 21st century, rivers ceased to be understood in Colombia as ‘natural’ elements, as part of the geography or the landscape. Some of them have come to be conceived as a particular type of artefact. They have come to be understood as infrastructure, as elements of the assembly of a new production system. Rivers have thus become the axes of an intervention regime, that is to say, the axes of a set of instrumental and discursive practices, that constitute a certain type of spatial and of social organization. They respond to the logic and priorities of capitalism’s expansion. And this regime leaves traces in the landscape. This paper aims, first, to discuss the concept of ‘intervention regimes’ and the theoretical debates to which it refers. Second, to propose a reflection on the way these regimes are configured and read in the landscape; and third, to explore the case of the Meta River from this perspective.

This paper framed from situated learning theory tries to describe the process of legitimate peripheral participation taking place in two different learning contexts. Data for this study were collected through observation, first activities that were generated from a non-formal learning context, an association of diabetes; they emphasizing diabetes education camp that took place in 2013, and on the other side, data were collected from learning situations that developed in formal learning as a workshop production of news for 2015. The results found indicate that these contexts, with different characteristics and different in nature from social learning theory encourage the deployment of issues that are closely related concepts of identity processes and the trajectories of involvement of the participants.

This paper reports the experience of an extension project "Optimization of multidisciplinary care of patients with head and neck cancer of Oral Oncology Center, School of Dentistry, UNESP-Araçatuba-". The objective of this project is evaluate the physical structure and the quality of multidisciplinary care offered to cancer patients. A questionnaire with twelve questions closed January 2013 to June 2014-165 patients treated at the Oral Oncology Center was applied. It was observed that most patients were male (91%) and evaluating both the physical structure and the quality of care as excellent (74.8%). As suggestion for improvement, 52 patients requested increased waiting and clinical care room and 10 improved meeting room in multi-therapy group. It is concluded that patients proved to be generally satisfied with the service provided, but it is necessary an improvement in the physical sectors and care. Some weaknesses in the process were identified, providing information to the improvement of their work, thus contributing to the optimization of services and patient satisfaction. This implies the awareness of the whole team for their importance and value of their shares.

Currently, the mollusc production chain in Santa Catarina accounts for 98% of all national production. This is an excellent example of how an organized and coordinated work between research and extension institutions can effectively solve real problems and bring up new possibilities for work and job creation. Among the institutions that have been dedicated, in the last three decades, to technological development focused on the needs of this production chain, we can highlight the role of UFSC, as a fundamental link for the creation and maintenance of this activity, through the Marine Molluscs Laboratory, has concentrated on the research and extension related to the production of bivalve molluscs. This paper presents the entire history of the development of the productive chain, as well as the possibilities of future growth of this important economic activity in the state.

The teaching-learning process based on humanized and contextualized training in assisting allows the student to develop from the beginning of his formation a critical and more active posture exploring this way new practical skills facing the reality in which it appears, a dynamic experience the student deconstructs and rebuilds concepts and attitudes restructuring thus, ways of thinking, understanding and intervening in the world. The goal of this paper is to present how is the teaching-learning process at work by the students of the Universidade Federal de São Paulo - campus Baixada Santista (UNIFESP/BS), in the project extension ‘Baú de Histórias’. The ‘Baú de Histórias’ project aims to work with children to develop the habit of playing to tell and build stories, and happens weekly, in a fortnight meetings with children in the field with duration of three hours and the other half the students make the stories that will be told in the field and have supervision with the teaching and supervisor on university when directed studies are also performed to provide the theoretical basis for the action on the field. A change in attitude of the students was observed along the visits, seeing a maturing mostly in moments of interventions in the field along with the kids, getting to create greater connection and empathy with these during the storytelling. Another change was perceived in supervision, in which the students were able to appropriate technical terms, understand in practice the theories passed during lectures and supervisions. The ‘Baú de Histórias’ project experience enables a differentiated approach that provides maturation in the teaching-learning process of the students.

In this paper we aim to identify communication models of science and technology in activities of scientific divulgation developed through lectures, as extension project, at two state public schools of the Recife Metropolitan Region –PE over 2015, and analyze implication for the technologic and scientific literacy of students. For the analysis of the results, we selected the lectures named "Science, technology and a sustainable society" and "Science, technology and environment conflicts: the Suape case", and we considered the communication models of science and technology as analytical categories. In the analysis conducted were predominantly identified contextual communication model, lay expertise, and public participation. In this direction, the science divulgation activities constituted as a tool for the technologic and scientific literacy of students at the time the lectures contributed, for example, to understand the science and technology as human activities that influence and suffer influences of society.

The project Conhecer Montanha is the result from a methodology design able to join quality approach to quantity based approach in order to provide usable database for policies and pedagogical management at Instituto Federal do Espírito Santo, in Montanha town. The process of information acquisition for drawing up the database was a challenge since it is complex and comprehensive, so that, it is imperative the quality and quantity aspects be integrated and systemized. The experience in building the methodology for this specific deal is reported in this paper by means of the three main used methods detailing: acquiring and surveying figures and spatial data from official sources; interviews conducted by a semi-structured guide; organizing focus groups methodology for collecting speech answers. As soon as the required data were gathered, the analysis was made while creating categories to highlight the correlations between the population speech and official information.
