The São Paulo Network Program of Teacher Training (RedeFor) of the Secretary of Education of São Paulo State /Brazil, has proposed in partnership with the São Paulo State University, the continuing education for teachers of the State public school system, through specialization courses, about Inclusive and Special Education, in the distance learning modality. In order to meet an audience of 1.600 teachers, seven courses were implemented from 2014 to 2015, amongst which is the course of Special Education, with a total workload of 444 hours spread between activities in the Virtual Learning Environment of UNESP, internships, In-Person Meetings as well as preparation and presentation of scientific papers. After the completion of disciplines and In-Person Meetings, in 2015 were created 55 groups for the guidance of academic papers, where each supervisor had to perform the online pedagogical mediation of 10 to 20 course participants for the preparation of a scientific paper. It is intended to discuss in this article the aspects present in two scientific papers developed within the course, which addressed the discussion about the beginning teachers and curriculum for the development of Special Education within the Inclusive perspective. The results demonstrate that this specialization course brought important elements to the axis of participant's reflections, so that Special Education can really be strengthened in an inclusive perspective, in the public schools of São Paulo.

Introduction: The final paper has the purpose of bringing the student closer to the practice of research and experience with the ethical aspects which are relevant to intellectual property and research with human beings. Its elaboration facilitates the investigation of a problem and the elaboration of solutions that consolidate the knowledge acquired during the course. Objective: Featuring the graduation final paper in occupational therapy of a public university. Method: This is descriptive, qualitative-quantitative research that used data which were collected in 154 documents, as well as in questionnaires answered by 24 advisors. Results: The works were mostly literature review or documentary research, with a qualitative approach, which used the field notebook as a data collection instrument. The most studied areas were the Hospital Context and Family Health, in works related to the themes experienced by the students in projects of extension, research, disciplines or internship. The orientations were carried out only by the advisor, within their research areas, and the most found problem was the difficulty in the student’s writing process. The examination boards were made up of effective or temporary teachers from the own course, who signaled the methodology as the main failure of the work. Conclusion: The data showed that students need more opportunities to exercise and elaborate a scientific text before the moment of the final paper creation and those teachers need to support their pupils in the search for more diversified research objects, instruments, and methodologies.

A crescente importância da cadeia de suprimentos tem levado pesquisadores a desenvolverem um volume significativo de trabalhos sobre o tema. Ao mesmo tempo, devido ao seu recente surgimento, esse fenômeno organizacional é complexo e engloba inúmeras variáveis, tornando igualmente complexo o processo de escolha do objeto de pesquisa por pesquisadores e estudantes. Por essa razão, esse artigo tem o objetivo de proporcionar uma análise dos principais tópicos estudados em 173 artigos sobre gestão da cadeia de suprimentos publicados nos principais periódicos acadêmicos internacionais entre 2004 e 2006. Os resultados mostram que os artigos focam, principalmente, a coordenação e a troca de informações entre empresas, a configuração da produção, o design e o desempenho da cadeia de suprimentos. Além disso, também são destacadas as características de alguns dos principais periódicos internacionais. Diversos tópicos, ainda, precisam ser estudados até que a gestão da cadeia de suprimentos se solidifique como disciplina.In recent years, supply chain management has received greater attention, hence leading researchers to develop many papers on this topic. Due to its recent development, this organizational phenomenon is complex and has many variables, making the process of choosing a research topic also complex for researchers and students. Thus, this paper aims to provide an analysis of the major topics studied in over 173 papers published about supply chain management in the most important international production and operation management journals between 2004 and 2006. The results show that the major topics are coordination, information sharing between companies, production decisions, and supply chain design and performance. Many topics should also be the focus of future studies until the supply chain management becomes a discipline.

The present study aims at identifying how the everyday life concept is used in the Occupational Therapy field in the English language literature and at making considerations in relation to the Brazilian literature on the subject. A systematic review of the international literature on the everyday life concept in the Occupational Therapy field was carried out and, from the results of this phase, reflections about the differences and similarities noticed in the use of this concept in the field of occupational therapy in Brazil are presented. Twenty articles selected from the CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel) database were elected for analysis. This analysis found that English speaking authors, on the issue of everyday life rupture, focus on the assistance needed to help individuals to be able to perform their former occupations in an autonomous way. Besides, the way people live their everyday lives is an element that constitutes the person’s identity; people become what they are from their occupations. Everyday life is described in occupational terms; it is understood by the meaningful things people do in their lives. It is pointed out that, as opposed to the national literature, the international literature does not focus on the connection between everyday life and the social-political-cultural context. Thus, we discuss that the understanding about the contextualized everyday life is shared with Brazilian occupational therapists, and it has the potential to be presented as a construct on which the Brazilian contemporary occupational therapy identity is built.

Este trabalho examina alguns modelos de otimização conhecidos da literatura para o problema de corte, e reporta uma experiência real da aplicação destes modelos numa indústria de papel e papelão (problema unidimensional) e numa indústria de móveis (problema bidimensional). Também são discutidas algumas modificações nos modelos originais para incorporar restrições práticas dos processos de corte, tais como, unidades de estoque com tamanhos e custos diferentes, tolerância na demanda de clientes, entre outras. Alguns resultados computacionais são apresentados para um exemplo real da indústria de móveis, utilizando-se um microcomputador.This work examines some well-known optimization models for the cutting stock problem and reports a real experience of their application to a corrugated paper industry (one- dimensional problem) and to a furniture industry (two-dimensional problem). It is also discussed some modifications in the original models to incorporate practical constraints of the cutting processes, such as tolerance in the customer orders, among others. Some computational results from a real example of the furniture industry are presented utilizing a micro-computer.

O presente trabalho tem por objetivo estabelecer um mapeamento da produção científica divulgada em importantes periódicos publicados no Brasil sobre a aplicação de Métodos de Auxílio Multicritério à Decisão (AMD) à modelagem de problemas de Planejamento e Controle da Produção. O mapeamento contemplou 32 artigos, que foram selecionados criteriosamente, tendo como base a lista de periódicos científicos oferecida no Scielo e em importantes sociedades científicas brasileiras no âmbito da Engenharia de Produção. Os resultados permitiram indicar, entre outros aspectos, os periódicos que mais publicam neste contexto, os métodos de AMD mais usados nesta interface, os setores de produção nos quais as aplicações ocorreram e os tópicos de PCP mais abordados. Também foram destacados os aspectos de PCP que ainda carecem de estudos que envolvam métodos multicritério.The objective of this study is to map the Brazilian scientific production based on Brazilian journal publications on the implementation of Multicriteria Decision Aid (MCDA) to model Production Planning and Control problems. It consisted of 32 papers that were systematically selected from journals indexed in the Scielo database and also from a list of journals suggested by major Brazilian Industrial Engineering research societies. The results revealed, among other aspects, the journals that publish the most on this topic, the most often used MCDA methods in this interface, the production sectors in which the applications took place, and the most commonly discussed PPC topics. This paper also highlights the PPC aspects that need further research including MCDA methods.

Este trabalho apresenta uma revisão bibliográfica (82 artigos) sobre a Manufatura Enxuta (ME), revisão esta não encontrada até agora na literatura de Gestão da Produção. A partir de tal revisão propôs-se um sistema de classificação para a ME baseada em 4 parâmetros: metodologia, abrangência, princípios e capacitadores, a qual serviu para classificar e estruturar os artigos da revisão. Uma vez classificada e estruturada, a revisão bibliográfica sobre ME serviu de base para uma ampla análise do tema. Essa análise se baseou em dois pontos fundamentais: i) um estudo quantitativo das metodologias, abrangências, princípios e capacitadores utilizados nos trabalhos e ii) um estudo qualitativo dos principais assuntos e objetivos alcançados por esses trabalhos. As principais contribuições deste trabalho são: servir de base para um maior conhecimento da literatura existente atualmente sobre ME e propor sugestões de pesquisas futuras na área.This work reviews the literature on Lean Manufacturing (LM). Until now, there was no complete literature review regarding this subject in the Operations Management literature. Based on this literature review it is proposed a LM classification system based on 4 main characteristics: methodology, comprehension, principles and enablers. The system is used to classify and to organize the papers. After that a general analyses of LM is performed. The LM analyses is based on 2 main points: i) a quantitative study of the methodology, comprehension, principles and enablers within LM papers; ii) a qualitative study regarding the main subjects and goals accomplished by the papers. The main contributions of this work are to contribute for mental clarification, communication and discovering new fields for research on LM.

Este artigo apresenta um sistema para classificar e codificar trabalhos (SCCA - sistema de classificação e codificação de artigos) que relacionam o Controle da Produção (CP) e o Controle da Qualidade (CQ). O sistema de classificação é baseado em três características principais do artigo: a natureza, o foco e os objetivos. O sistema de codificação emprega a idéia básica da tecnologia de grupo (codificação de famílias de peças), utilizando uma estrutura híbrida de três dígitos para codificar as características mencionadas anteriormente. O SCCA foi criado em função da realização de um survey, o qual procurou ser o mais completo possível, contendo 45 trabalhos que relacionam o CP e o CQ. O sistema é validado por sua utilização na classificação e codificação dos trabalhos encontrados no survey. Essa classificação e codificação serve, ao mesmo tempo, como auxílio para estruturar a revisão bibliográfica e para realizar uma análise geral sobre o tema. A partir dessa análise, este artigo consegue proporcionar maior conhecimento e comunicação das pesquisas existentes atualmente que relacionam o CP e o CQ, além de sugerir novas áreas de pesquisa dentro das relações entre CP e CQ. O artigo destaca ainda a importância de estudar a relação entre CP e CQ.This work presents a system for classifying and codifying papers (PCCS - papers classification and codification system) relating Production Control (PC) and Quality Control (QC). The classification system is based on three main characteristics. These characteristics are: the nature, the focus and the goals of the article. The codification system uses the basic idea of the Group Technology (codification of the families of parts). An hybrid structure with three digits is used to codify the characteristics aforementioned. A survey, compounded by 45 papers (we tried to perform a survey the most complete as possible) was accomplished and used to create the PCCS. The system is validated through its use on the classification and codification of the papers found on survey. The classification and codification is useful to structure the literature about PC and QC and to perform a general analysis about the theme. From the analysis of these papers, using our system, a mental clarification and communication of the researches relating PC and QC is obtained. After such analysis, new research areas within the relations between PC and QC can be suggested. The paper also highlights the importance in studying the relationship between PC and QC.

O programa Rede São Paulo de Formação Docente (Redefor) da Secretaria de Educação do Estado de São Paulo/Brasil propôs, em parceria com a Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), a formação continuada de professores da rede pública estadual de ensino, em cursos de especialização nas áreas da Educação Inclusiva e Especial, na modalidade a distância. Para atender a um público de 1.600 professores, foram executados de 2014 a 2015 sete cursos, entre os quais se encontra o curso de Educação Especial na Perspectiva da Educação Inclusiva, com carga horária total de 444 horas distribuídas entre atividades no Ambiente Virtual de Aprendizagem da UNESP, estágios, Encontros Presenciais, bem como elaboração e apresentação de Trabalhos Acadêmicos (TA). Após a finalização das disciplinas e Encontros Presenciais, em 2015 foram criadas 55 turmas para orientação dos TA, em que cada orientador deveria realizar a mediação pedagógica on-line de 10 a 20 cursistas para a elaboração de um artigo científico. Pretende-se neste artigo discutir sobre os aspectos presentes em dois artigos científicos desenvolvidos no âmbito do curso, que abordaram a discussão sobre professores iniciantes e currículo para o desenvolvimento da Educação Especial na perspectiva Inclusiva. Os resultados demonstram que o curso de especialização trouxe para o eixo de reflexão dos cursistas elementos importantes para que a Educação Especial possa realmente se fortalecer em uma perspectiva inclusiva, nas escolas públicas do Estado de São Paulo.

This paper unsettles taken-for-granted understandings of social inclusion in the field of occupational therapy and links with the concept of radical inclusion developed in social occupational therapy. It traces the ways that, over time, inclusion has been reduced to a position within the inclusion/exclusion binary. Pierre Bourdieu’s reflexive theory of practice is introduced to expand understandings of how the negative value accorded to disability is reproduced through exclusionary social conditions and relations. Drawing on the results of a qualitative study that examined the everyday lives, practices and occupations of 13 Canadian youth who used augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) modes as a result of physical impairments, three elements of more inclusive social spaces – safety, communion, and recognition – are presented alongside implications of each for occupational therapy. These alternative approaches for thinking beyond inclusion are grounded by narratives illustrating elements of social spaces that can foster a sense of belonging and connection. The perspectives shared by youth in the study add complex insights into how they made ‘practical sense’ of prevailing calls for social inclusion. Their stories show how even as they struggled for inclusion, they were subject to and internalized negative valuations of disability. Importantly, the paper highlights strategies employed by youth to reformulate inclusion on their own terms. These reformulations go beyond over-simplified conceptions of inclusion and hold potential to inform the ways that occupational therapists work alongside individuals and collectives to improve life chances, expand occupational possibilities, and support flourishing for disabled children and youth.

Abstract This paper aims to discuss how Knowledge Management (KM) can support the Industry 4.0 (I4.0) implementation. The paper analyzes the relevant literature and explores related research opportunities, which can provide insights and assist researchers in future studies. I4.0 technologies can influence work flexibility, autonomy, job performance and innovation, but the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge, especially on the shop floor, remain dependent on employees, indicating human concerns which can be supported by KM. We conducted a literature review on KM and I4.0 on 41 papers selected from the Clarivate Web of Science Core Collection, published between 2010 and 2021. Structured summaries were developed, that lead to broad themes. Findings indicate three themes relating KM and I4.0: Technology, which explores infrastructure demands for implementation and its influence on the knowledge creation process; KM and learning, which reinforces the importance of both hard and soft skills, and indicates the need to investigate enablers factors for knowledge creation and sharing; and Worker engagement, which consider communicational, cultural and trust-related aspects for worker's development. This paper explores the I4.0 implementation and indicate concerns involving workers and the technologies adoption, which can provide insights and assist researchers in future Operations Management practices and related researches.

The paper takes a closer look into critical thinking in Yemen. It navigates critical thinking in Yemeni graphic design undergraduate education. This paper tackles the lack of research in the areas of critical thinking as Yemen has not traditionally encouraged or utilized critical thinking in graphic design education. Within design, a field of study where critical thinking is required to create solutions to existing and new problems, a range of culturally relevant solutions for problems are sought rather than the same solution for each (Barbour, 2016). However, there is an opportunity to investigate critical thinking from a Yemeni Islamic worldview. This is an opportunity for us all to engage in a conversation about what critical thinking might mean in Islamic culture. This paper ultimately aims to demonstrate the Islamic and Western literature about critical thinking and present this understanding within Yemeni graphic design education.

COVID-19 pandemic had a serious occupational impact on people with pre-existing mental disorders. To deliver care in this context, telehealth groups were a therapeutic option for occupational therapists for mental health care. This paper presents an occupational therapy experience with telehealth groups in Brazil, sustained by the Dynamic Occupational Therapy Method, seeking to discuss the use of technology during the COVID-19 outbreak, the limits and potential of occupational therapy in the face of the necessary change in work with groups. The paper is a critical analysis of practice sustained by a practice-based evidence perspective through a collaborative partnership between practitioners and academics from Brazil and the UK. Practitioners reflected on their professional skills in an online context, highlighting their initial concerns and their discoveries within this new practice scenario. The delivery of telehealth groupwork in occupational therapy in mental health practice requires multiple digital tools, and the occupational therapist needs to understand digital inequity issues (digital access or skills), be digitally upskilled to meet client needs, and also be guided by clear occupational therapy theoretical and methodological frameworks that underpin telehealth practices.

Introduction: United States of America (USA) stands out for the expressive number of occupational therapists working in schools and for the production of specific regulations for this professional action. This article derives from a systematic mapping review, in which we collected 190 texts on the theme ‘occupational therapy and schools’. Ten of them were related to the SBOTs practice (theoretical essays, reflection papers, one official document, and one 'informative' paper). Objective: To know how this professional regulation took place in the USA, taking laws, documents, and publications. Method: A comprehensive analysis of the selected publications (10) and the related legislation (5) was carried out, resulting in a general overview of the subject and a historicization of the regulation of the SBOTs in that country. Results: Since 1986, articles have been published for the theoretical debate and reflection on the development of USA occupational therapy practices in schools. Also, publications aimed to constitute theoretical-practical foundations, composing operational consensuses to make feasible the contracting of that service in this sector. The role of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) was evident, passing through all this construction. However, when certain consensuses were created, professional action was limited to the field of disability, especially focus on children and adolescents. Conclusion: Understanding this trajectory may inspire us about the efficient strategies created by occupational therapists in the USA, nevertheless, it is necessary to apprehend our singularities and to construct organic ways of expanding this field in Brazil.

The paper investigates the Brazilian and American income tax system to analyze how tax expenditures may act as a participatory mechanism in public budgeting. The literature on charitable deductions and tax expenditures suggests that tax systems may have a ballot nature, nonetheless few studies have addressed the issue. Thus, the paper aims to fill this theoretical gap by exploring how citizens may express their preferences to the government via tax deductions and by proposing a framework to compare the implications of each institutional design. Data showed that, yet differently, both tax systems allow a certain degree of participation and result in a substantial modification in how governments execute public policies and spend public resources. The comparison of the cases indicated that the same mechanism can be more or less participatory and those tax expenditures should be analyzed not only in terms of their financial results but also concerning their influence on democracy.

Abstract The offer of business process modeling methodologies is quite extensive, making it difficult for scholars in the BPM area to choose properly. In this context, this paper has the objective to present the main modeling methodologies, with applications, examples and comparisons. A systematic bibliographic survey and the comparative analysis of these notations used in the implementation of BPM projects have been carried out. According to the bibliometric analysis, the modeling notations of the business process most portrayed in the works surveyed are: BPMN, UML, EPC and IDEF. From the construction of a consistent overview that allows the comparative analysis of the methodologies, in order to select the one that suits better its specificities it can be verified that, although they share the same objective, each notation has its specific characteristics. This study has the main purpose of providing a basis for the adequate indication of the application of studies in the field, especially those destined for papers, dissertations and theses.

The impact of higher education institutions on society has become the focus of significant policy attention in recent years, most prominently as part of research evaluation. This paper presents a theoretical exploration of the notion, identifying the key dimensions as source, form, trajectory, intensity, timescale and destination. While acknowledging the importance of porosity between universities and society, and the need to address critical contemporary challenges, five dangers of the impact agenda are highlighted: the normative dimension; the linear relationship; unpredictability; measurement; and instrumentalization. As a response to dominant conceptualizations, the paper proposes the notion of the generative intrinsic as a more robust basis on which to base the work of universities. O impacto das instituições de ensino superior na sociedade tem se tornado o foco de atenção política significativa nos últimos anos, mais proeminentemente como parte da avaliação da pesquisa. Este artigo apresenta uma exploração teórica da categoria noção, identificando as dimensões-chave como fonte, forma, trajetória, intensidade, escala de tempo e destino. Embora reconhecendo a importância da porosidade entre as universidades e a sociedade, e a necessidade de abordar desafios contemporâneos críticos, cinco perigos da agenda de impacto são destacados: a dimensão normativa; o relacionamento linear; imprevisibilidade; medição; e instrumentalização. Como resposta às conceituações dominantes, o artigo propõe a noção do intrínseco generativo como uma base mais robusta sobre a qual basear o trabalho das universidades.

Abstract: This paper aims at presenting a structure of implementation of the Workload Control (WLC) approach on a commercial discrete event simulation software by comprehensively demonstrating how to construct and simulate this approach. This research was developed considering the lack of studies fully describing this implementation on this kind of software, which hinders the dissemination and use of the WLC approach by managers. Initially, the logic was developed on a dedicated and structured language and then converted to the simulation software. A detailed description of the WLC implementation contributes to the business domain by facilitating its replication and application in other manufacturing environments, reducing the project time needed to develop the base model and allowing managers and/or researchers to focus directly on the adjustments of the model to the environment being modeled. In the academic domain, this paper addresses a gap in the WLC literature concerning the lack of tutorials for simulation and the lack of information, in the existing papers, regarding the development of the computational model.

Abstract: This paper aims to understand how the interconnection between the tacit and explicit dimensions of knowledge impacts knowledge management and its degree of maturity. Knowledge management maturity is understood as the ability firms are expected to have in order to exercise (to some degree) the skills required to manage knowledge internally. Nonaka and Takeuchi (N&T) model of organizational knowledge management was applied to a sample of companies (segmented by size) from the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, and Rio de Janeiro, by using the logic of fuzzy sets. The results have shown that small and medium companies have lower levels of knowledge management maturity when compared to large companies. However, in large companies, knowledge management is at medium levels. In this context, this paper suggests, as management guidelines, that companies measure their professionals' perception regarding the company level of knowledge management, pursuing to identify which of their components should be developed.

This paper aims to reflect on the experiences involved in affirming life and preparing for the death of the indigenous Colombian Kankuama community, in the face of the pandemic and physical, sociocultural, ecological, and spiritual effects that underlie and impact their identity, visibility, awareness, and occupational participation. Through collaborative ethnic-national research based on indigenous thought, "Yarning" or fabric was used to recover the narratives of three kankuamos through two semi-structured face-to-face and one virtual interview, recorded and transcribed between April and August 2020. The narratives allowed to weave reflections linked to the struggle for the preservation of their intercultural health dynamics, recognizing elements linked to its history, the resignification of the virus as a phenomenon for the learning of humankind in the relationship with Mother Earth, and the land. The paper also addresses the occupational processes linked to death, emphasizing the learnings of the loss and awareness of the spiritual legacy of the elders, seniors, and sages for the interpretation and guidance of mortuary practices towards the "Chundwa". The Kankuamos’ perceptions on the current health situation, health, and well-being concepts are presented, based on the “Ley de Sé” and its relationship with death-related occupations related to social, cultural, and natural equilibrium, which must be considered within occupational therapy and occupational science in Latin America.

Abstract This paper analyzes how design diffusion is changing the organizational logics of established companies. If previously design activities had as its main objective packaging new technologies to create differentials for products and services and to reduce production costs, with the diffusion of digital services currently design activities expand its scope and identify functional and emotional needs from users that are relevant for creating differentiated experiences, that in turn will result in new products and services that incorporate existing and emerging technologies of the firm. This transformation reveals a new organizational strategy, in which design assumes a more relevant position for the creation of innovative business models. However, a point not yet considered in the literature is how companies are restructuring their operations in order to benefit from this transition. This paper analyzes how Brazilian organizations of different sizes and sectors have redefined their management models in order to incorporate design as a catalyst of change. The obtained framework consolidates the main propositions of design while directing of the changes in the organizations in the operational, tactical and strategic levels.

Abstract: The recent development of advanced manufacturing concepts brings new challenges for developing countries in order to prepare their workforce and industries for local and global markets. To explore and disseminate advanced manufacturing concepts, the first autonomous advanced manufacturing cell developed in Brazil as a result of a partnership between global and local companies and academia was designed and evaluated. This paper aims to describe the advanced manufacturing cell, the equipment composing the infrastructure, and the network topology and equipment that could deal with the heterogeneity of equipment and protocol. Moreover, the behavior of the Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture (OPC UA) communication framework (and related protocols) as the integration element between the equipment composing the cell was evaluated. The results indicated that the OPC UA communication framework promotes a low traffic overhead and can also be used to carry data from the traditional protocols in their fields without restrictions that could hinder production. The paper also discusses how the exchange of data occurred between the equipment used in the production and the control systems via the protocol studied. The OPC UA communication framework protocols presented a messaging structure and data transport characteristics that satisfy the integration needs between equipment of several manufacturers that composed an autonomous cell of advanced manufacturing. This paper also presents some key challenges to integrating all equipment not addressed by the OPC UA reference model.

The article presents studies that discuss the relationship between the teaching work of preschool teachers and their health. Research was carried out in three different places: from 2010 to 2017 in the databases of the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO Brazil), from 2000 to 2017 in the Portal da Associação Nacional de Pós-graduação e Pesquisa em Educação - ANPEd (Portal of the National Association of Postgraduate and Research in Education) and from 2000 to 2017 at the Banco de Teses da Capes/MEC- Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior/Ministério da Educação (Capes Bank of Theses/MEC - Coordination of Improvement of Higher Personnel Education / Ministry of Education). In the "article search" field, we used the descriptors (isolated and associated): "illness", "teacher" and "early childhood education", and later added "sickness". Search was carried out in "general" and "summary" fields. Among these papers, theses and dissertations were found 17 papers that analysed the relationship between the sickness of the preschool teachers and their work, it was shown that this relatively new group of teachers who are still constructing their professional identity, is still poorly studied although it presents itself as a risk group for illness, so more studies are needed to identify problems and seek solutions. O artigo apresenta estudos que abordam a relação do trabalho docente das professoras de educação infantil com a sua saúde. El artículo presenta estudios que abordan la relación del trabajo docente de las profesoras de educación infantil con su salud. La investigación se realizó en el portal de la Asociación Nacional de Postgrado e Investigación en Educación (ANPEd), en el período de 2000 a 2017 y en el Banco de Tesis de la Capes/MEC – Coordinación de Perfeccionamiento de Personal de Nivel Superior/Ministerio de Educación (de 2000 a 2017). En el campo "investigación de artículos", utilizamos los descriptores (aislados y asociados): "enfermedad", "profesora" y "educación infantil", posteriormente se añadió “enfermarse”. Se ha investigado en los campos en "general" y "resumen". Entre los artículos, tesis y disertaciones se encontraron 17 trabajos que analizaban la relación de la enfermedad de las profesoras de educación infantil con su trabajo, se constató que ese grupo de profesoras por ser un grupo relativamente nuevo, por estar en construcción de su identidad profesional, todavía es poco estudiado, aunque se presenta como grupo de riesgo para enfermarse, por lo que más estudios son necesarios para identificar problemas y buscar soluciones.

This paper aims to analyze the recent tendencies when choosing the school principals considering that since the approval of the Federal Constitution (Brazil) there is the directioning of policies to adopt the democratic management, however, it is possible to note that a lot of school principals still take the charge by means of political indications. This paper will try to answer the following central question: how the process of choosing the school principals is made after adopting the Articulated Actions Plan (PAR)? The methodology used was the documental study of the guidance manuals of the PAR, and of the diagnosis of 10 (ten) cities in the states of Rio Grande do Norte and Pará. 39 (thirty-nine) semi-structured interviews in Pará and 24 (twenty-four) in Rio Grande do Norte, with persons that participated in the PAR’s elaboration on the investigated cities, were also performed. It was possible to conclude that the patrimonial logic still finds breeding ground on the management of schools, and that the absence of legislation to define the principal’s profile and rules to perform direct elections, or of concrete actions to direct the democratization of the school management, allows that the principle of democratic management to be defined only on the constitutional text. On the other hand, the PAR does not contribute for the democratization process, evidence of which being that there is no election with wide participation of the school community to choose the principals in most of the cities investigated, still predominating the political indications to this day. Esse texto tem por objetivo analisar as tendências recentes na escolha de dirigente escolar, considerando que desde a aprovação da Constituição Federal (Brasil) há o direcionamento das políticas para a adoção da gestão democrática, entretanto, ainda hoje é observado que muitos diretores escolares assumem o cargo por meio de indicações políticas. Nesse artigo, busca-se responder a seguinte questão central: como é efetivado o processo de escolha de dirigentes escolares após a adoção do Plano de Ações Articuladas (PAR)? Utilizou-se como metodologia o estudo documental dos manuais orientadores do PAR, e diagnósticos de 10 (dez) municípios localizados nos estados do Rio Grande do Norte e Pará. Também foram realizadas 39 entrevistas semiestruturadas no Pará e 24 no RN com sujeitos que participaram da elaboração do PAR nos municípios investigados. Concluímos que a lógica patrimonial ainda encontra terreno fértil na gestão das escolas, e que a falta de legislação que defina o perfl do diretor e regras para a realização de eleições diretas, ou de ações concretas que direcionem a democratização da gestão escolar, possibilita que o princípio da gestão democrática esteja definido apenas no texto constitucional. Por outro lado, o PAR não contribuiu para o processo de democratização, haja vista que até hoje na maioria dos municípios investigados não há eleição para escolha de dirigentes com ampla participação da comunidade escolar predominando ainda as indicações políticas.

This paper is a research paper which analyzed the Articulated Action Plan (PAR) of Natal’s city, capital of the Rio Grande do Norte State, Brazil, in the period from 2007 to 2011. It aims to understand if the formulation and implementation of the PAR, in this city, was based on intergovernmental relations and federative coordination. The research technical procedure was constituted by documental analysis and a semi-structured interview. It is concluded that the PAR contributed to the exercise of a more articulated planning between the federated entities and so that the Union could initiate the coordination federative process in the education area through the Ideb regulation, seeking to meet the needs of Cities and States based on the volunteer transfers, thus promoting, even though embryonically, the intergovernmental relations in the Brazilian Federation. O presente artigo é um recorte de pesquisa que analisou o Plano de Ações Articuladas (PAR) do Município de Natal, capital do Estado do Rio Grande do Norte, Brasil, no período de 2007 a 2011. Tem por objetivo compreender se a formulação e a implementação do PAR,nesse Município, foram pautadas por relações intergovernamentais e pela coordenação federativa. Os procedimentos técnicos da pesquisa foram constituídos de análise documental e de entrevista semiestruturada.Conclui-se que o PAR contribuiu para o exercício de um planejamento mais articulado entre os entes federados e para que a União iniciasse o processo de coordenação federativa na área da educação mediante regulação pelo Ideb (Índice de Desenvolvimento da Educação Básica), buscando atender às necessidades dos Municípios e Estados com base nas transferências voluntárias, impulsionando, assim, mesmo que embrionariamente, as relações intergovernamentais na federação brasileira.

This paper aims at analyzing the cultural influence exerted by pedagogical conceptions from Western Europe over Russia and Brazil in the second half of the 19th century. This analysis was based on the novel Notes from the Underground by Dostoevsky, and the short stories O Espelho and Verba Testamentária which are included in the short stories collection called Papeis Avulsos, by Machado de Assis. These literary works, in which the subject of this paper is portrayed, were contextualized and analyzed in relation to other historical sources. It was concluded that the Western European cultural influence, specifically in its educational aspect, was a requirement for Russia and Brazil in the 19th century, aiming at overcoming their backwardness in relation to the developments of the central capitalist countries. However, the influx of these conceptions also promoted a series of distortions, such as the development of an inferiority complex, moral degradation and a strong desire for overcoming the European models with the goal of affirming their original national identities. Este artigo tem por objetivo analisar a influência cultural exercida por concepções pedagógicas oriundas da Europa ocidental sobre a Rússia e o Brasil na segunda metade do século XIX. Esta análise foi realizada tendo como base a novela Memórias do Subsolo de Dostoiévski e os contos O Espelho e Verba Testamentária, que fazem parte da coletânea de contos intitulada Papéis Avulsos, de Machado de Assis. Estas obras literárias, nas quais a problemática deste artigo é representada, foram contextualizadas e analisadas em relação a outras fontes históricas. Concluiu-se que a in?uência cultural europeia ocidental, especificamente de caráter educacional, era uma necessidade para a Rússia e para o Brasil no século XIX com vistas à superação de seu atraso em relação aos desenvolvimentos dos países centrais do capitalismo. No entanto, o in?uxo destas concepções também proporcionou o surgimento de uma série de distorções, como o desenvolvimento de um complexo de inferioridade, degradação moral e um forte desejo de superação dos modelos europeus com o objetivo de afirmação de uma identidade nacional original.

Abstract This paper aims to analyze the Dynamic Capabilities (DC) from their micro-foundations (sensing, seizing, and reconfiguration) that help in sustainability-oriented innovation (SOI) activities (organizational optimization, organizational transformation, and systems building) and that lead to the development of innovations in the context of higher education institutions (HEIs). This research has a descriptive and exploratory nature, developed through a case study in an HEI located in the northeast region of Brazil. The study was based on interviews with key sustainability managers within the institution and on research of institutional documents related to the subject. As a result, the existence of specific sensing, seizing, and reconfiguring microfoundations for HEIs that can enable SOI in the three levels of activities studied was verified, highlighting important relationships between them. This work contributes to the advancement of knowledge about SOI activities in HEIs by identifying the microfoundations that drive such activities and addressing a gap in studies on microfoundations of SOI dynamic capabilities and activities in higher education institutions. In practical terms, this article can serve as a basis for HEIs managers to understand what they need to do to drive SOI activities, especially in building systems for the development of innovations with social and economic impact for territories beyond institutional boundaries.

Estimates from 2022 showed that in the last 5 years, more than 102,000 amputation surgeries were performed by the Sistema Único de Saúde - SUS (Unified Health System, Brazil). An amputation requires adequate rehabilitation process with support network, allowing autonomy and social inclusion. The aim of this paper is to present and discuss the Brazilian Guidelines on Amputee Health Care and other Brazilian public health policies that dialogue with their recommendations. Eight documents were identified that narrow dialogue with the Guidelines: National Health Policy for People with Disabilities, National Health Plan 2012-2015, Guidelines for the Care of People with Chronic Diseases in Health Care Networks and Priority Lines of Care, National Plan for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities - Living Without Limits, Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, National Health Policy for the Elderly. Brazil has been discussing the need to implement legal mechanisms to ensure full citizenship of people with disabilities. Among the documents presented, the following guidelines were observed in common with the Amputee Health Care Guidelines: providing support and specialized services within the SUS, the need for training of the multidisciplinary team, supply of assistive technology equipment, prevention of injuries and promoting the inclusion of the amputated person. The main challenges and current perspectives involve the articulation of the various levels of health care for this population, and training of the team for comprehensive care for the full rehabilitation of these individuals.

Abstract Organizations are being highly pressured to increase their competitiveness in order to deal with dynamic and turbulent markets. The development of an intelligent manufacturing system has been identified as an effective way to increase the competitiveness of enterprises. Traditional companies need models, skills, processes, and technologies to face the challenges imposed by today´s highly competitive markets, which require constant innovation. Sensing, Smart, and Sustainable (S^3) Enterprises play an important role in the digitization of strategies, decisions, and operations. They become efficient in facing the challenges intrinsic to the digital economy and intelligent manufacturing by applying the concepts of detection and monitoring, intelligence, and sustainability. The extant literature indicates the need for the development of methods and enterprise models that portray the reality of S^3 Enterprises. This paper presents an enterprise model to facilitate the formalization of S^3 Enterprises and help understand the dynamics of their operations. Applying the For Enterprise Modeling (4EM) method, this proposed enterprise model documents the goals, business rules, processes, and concepts of S^3 Enterprises. The contribution of this paper is the identification of guiding principles that allow companies interested in applying the S^3 concepts to have a basic reference mapped through perspectives of different knowledge domains.

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to contribute to the advancement of International Operations Management in the digital era. Theories and models that address how multinationals organize international operations were generated in the 1990s, a time when Kasra Ferdows wrote his HBR’s seminal article “Making the Most of Foreign Factories”. Despite the critiques, that simple and insightful model, a fruit of Ferdows’ experience, remains as paradigm but must now be updated to become aligned to the features of the digital world. In this theory-building paper, we disclose how Digital Transformation will change the location, coordination, and role of the organizational units that constitute the multinational’s inner international network (IIN). We first synthesize the digital trends into three statements that are contrasted with the assumptions of Ferdows’ model, leading to a new taxonomy. We then display pieces of evidence collected from the recent literature in different management fields. This article brings new perspectives for the understanding of how multinationals reorganize their operations, now and in the future, in times of deglobalization accelerated by pandemics.

Abstract: The implementation of Manufacture and Automation techniques is mandatory in the current world. Mainly, the enhancement and progress of healthcare are fundamental in wellbeing improvement. This paper points to the utilization of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Industry 4.0 concepts oriented to the optimization of a Smart Hospital using the Hospital Emergency Department (HED) as a case study. This proposal focuses on the development of a smart Hospital-based of the IoT, Industry 4.0, Health 4.0, and other current technology. On the other hand, the use of a computational simulation tool like the Discrete Event Simulation Model (DES) will allow the test, recognition, and reduction of bottlenecks in the HED workflow. The issue given by the bottlenecks is automatically controlled using an improved dynamic shift management proposal based on control theory, forecasting methods, and telemedicine. The results show an improvement in the use of the resources and a reduction of the length of stay that directly reduces the HED mortality rate, improving the service quality. The objective of this paper is to propose a simulation tool-based on DES for a selected HED, using forecasting methods of the patients’ arrival in a HED using the Autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model. Following the forecasted entries, a proposal for bottleneck avoidance using a HED DES was realized. The forecasting data provided useful predictive information for the improvement of the HED workflow. As well as the analyzed data of a traditional HED system is helpful to solve the overcrowding problem. Finally, the use of simulation tools allows the test and validation of novel proposals for two smart HED optimization proposals following e-Health and Hospital 4.0 principles.

Abstract This paper studies and applies queueing systems to Call Centers regarding the possibility of customer abandonment from the system before being served due to their impatience in waiting for a service. Call Centers are service organizations that predominantly serve customers via phone calls. One of the main concerns in managing them is to provide quality service at a minimum cost. Noticing the quality of services offered is expressed by customers, for example by abandonment from the queue. This paper shows that the M/M/c+G analytical queueing models with abandonment, with patience time represented by generic distributions (particularly mixed distributions), are more effective than the M/M/c+M analytical queueing models with abandonment, with Exponential patience, commonly used to evaluate congestion problems in Call Centers and support sizing and operational decisions in these systems. We conducted a study using data extracted from a Bank Call Center located in Israel and the parameters and some performance measures are determined based on this data. These sampling measures are compared with the same measures achieved by the M/M/c+M and M/M/c+G analytical queueing models considered in this research, which use parameters obtained empirically and the mixed and non-mixed distributions based on Exponential and Lognormal to represent user patience. An experimental discrete simulation model was also used to explore an alternative scenario, showing the potential of using the approaches based on analytical models with abandonment for Call Center analysis.

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to design an overview about Project Management (PM) in Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) by analysing the evolution of publications and the main topics since 1996 to 2016 to motivate future research that helps SMEs to apply PM practices more efficiently. This study performed bibliometrics associated with content analysis of publications collected in scientific bases Web of Science and Scopus and in the periodic International Journal of Project Management. For that, the software VOSviewer, Nvivo, Minitab, and Excel were used in the analyses. The scan of 235 papers about Project Management in SMEs supported a literature overview. Furthermore, four thematic categories are highlighted: Project Management Practices, Planning and Control Systems, Collaboration, and Knowledge Management. Moreover, it was observed that SMEs requires a lighter PM methodology, focused on people and flexible. Besides that, the results show that the main challenges involve a lack of resources and qualified people and the high turnover. However, overcoming these issues, PM can benefit growth and innovation in SMEs. Therefore, this study presents a conceptual framework of benefits and challenges in Project Management in SMEs, reducing the research gap. Furthermore, recommendations for future research, mainly in Brazil, are given.

The article discusses the temporality in the school, starting from the theory of social acceleration of Harmut Rosa and the concepts of technical acceleration, rhythms of life and social change, analyzing also papers that discuss, in different ways and from different theoretical perspectives, the times in the school. The analises exposes that the theme are articulated in a wide conceptual range, emphasizing discussions about the qualification of school time as Chronos or Kairos, analysis of the rhythms and temporal connections in the classroom and the necessary articulations between past, present and future in education. Next, the paper proposes an extension of the perspective of criticism of education from the temporality in the school confronting the analyzes found in the articles with the critical categories of Harmut Rosa. The results, both theoretical and essayistic, highlight the heuristic potential of the acceleration theory for the understanding of the uses of time in school. In addition, criticism highlights the risks of didatization and the adoption of new information and communication technologies and the pertinence of the temporal dimension for the critical understanding of the decline of the ideal of formation in the pedagogical field. O artigo discute a temporalidade na escola, partindo da apresentação da teoria da aceleração social de Harmut Rosa a partir de seus conceitos de aceleração técnica, dos ritmos de vida e da mudança social, analisando posteriormente publicações recentes que discutem, de diferentes formas e a partir de perspectivas teóricas distintas, os tempos na escola. A exposição esclarece que as análises sobre esse tema se articulam em um amplo leque conceitual, destacando-se discussões sobre a qualificação do tempo escolar como Chrónos ou Kairós, análises dos ritmos e encadeamentos temporais na sala de aula e as necessárias articulações entre passado, presente e futuro na educação. A seguir o texto propõe uma ampliação da perspectiva de crítica da educação a partir da temporalidade na escola confrontando as análises encontradas nos artigos com as categorias críticas de Harmut Rosa. Os resultados da análise, de natureza teórica e ensaística, destacam o potencial heurístico da teoria da aceleração para a compreensão dos usos do tempo na escola. Além disso, a crítica ressalta os riscos da didatização e da adoção de novas tecnologias de informação e comunicação e a pertinência da dimensão temporal para a compreensão crítica do declínio do ideal de formação no campo pedagógico.

Abstract To perform better cost management in a supply chain, it must reduce or eliminate activities that do not add value to the product or export process. Thus, this paper aims to measure the costs of a containerized cargo export process using a combination of the Supply Chain Operation Reference Framework and activity-based costing, from the perspective of an exporting company. A qualitative approach is used to identify the processes and activities that generate costs in a containerized cargo export chain and a quantitative approach is used to measure these costs, through a combination of the mentioned methods. By applying the proposed methods, it was feasible to calculate the costs of the export chain of ceramic products, while it was possible to identify these costs based on performance indicators and metrics. Thus, this work assists commercial actions, raising the costs of an export chain and trying to fill gaps in the literature.

Abstract In the alignment of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) growing importance for investments’ decisions this paper presents an index for evaluating sustainable practices of road construction companies. For assessing the sustainable practices, it was developed a hierarchical framework based on environmental, social, and economic dimensions. The practices’ themes and its respective practices were found in the literature, and were selected and validate by an expert’ panel. That resulted in 12 practices themes and the 37 most relevant practices to the road construction sector. For each practice it was established a set of indicators. For the sustainable practices index, the dimensions and practice’s themes weights were determined using the Simplified Process Hierarchical Analysis method, applied to a second experts’ panel. By linking the sustainable practices to measurable indicators, it was possible to attain an overall sustainable practices index for road construction companies. The SPC method used in this case study emphasized practices in the “social” and “environmental” dimensions, with weights of 0.459 and 0.344. The framework elaborated is practical and expeditious, which has a feasible approach to tackling main ESG issues, helping road construction companies and governments preparedness for the new demands of investors and stakeholders.

Abstract Maintenance plays an indispensable role in the productive sector of an organization. The increasing use of high-precision operations in the steel industry means that hydraulic systems demand greater attention. This study proposes an evaluation framework for analyzing the economic feasibility of insourcing hydraulic maintenance services, seeking to present tools for assisting managers in decision-making and optimizing maintenance strategies. This paper presents a cash flow study, where the Net Present Value (NPV), the Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and the Profitability Index (PI) are calculated. Subsequently, the Monte Carlo method is applied to perform a sensitivity analysis for viewing the probabilities and output results. The main contribution of this study is to enable the evaluation of the results considering the economic feasibility of insourcing or outsourcing maintenance contracts through the proposed framework. In this case, the economic viability of insourcing presents a cost reduction in maintenance services. This approach suggested an industrial case study, where the use of the Monte Carlo and cash flow methods are useful tools for decision-making, contributing to the optimization of resources among industrial managers.
