This study proposes to discover relations between gender and school performance, composed in particular by values of academic goals (3 non-cognitive psychosocial factors), from a sample of students aged 11 to 17 inserted in the fundamental II and high school network of Brasilia-DF, capital of Brazil. The research was enrolled in a motivational perspective, which is based on a cross-sectional descriptive and correlational design with qualitative and quantitative methodology. The Hayamizu and Weiner's (1991) Goals Questionnaire was applied. It was described and applied, empirically, to a gender of male and female students. It was possible to demonstrate that there were no correlations between the variables due to the statistical normality of the sample. However, the results of the description suggest positive impacts on learning goals and achievement goals, due to the high level of punctuation obtained in the sample description and the consistency of the data, and negative impacts on social reinforcement goals. The most striking fact was the contradiction found with the results obtained by Cominetti and Ruiz (1997), which are based on maintaining that the gender factor helps to modulate the relations with school performance.
