Introduction: Subacromial pain syndrome is a chronic inflammatory pathology that affects the shoulder complex. Kinesio taping consists of an elastic adhesive tape applied to the skin, which helps relieve pain by decreasing pressure on the joints. Objective: To verify, through a literature review, whether the use of kinesio taping in individuals with subacromial pain syndrome helps in pain control and in the quality of life of these individuals. Method: This is a bibliographic review of the literature. The search was performed on Lilacs, Scielo, Cochrane and Pubmed. They included studies that analyzed the use of kinesio taping in individuals with subacromial pain syndrome, with articles published in the last 10 years, in English and Brazilian Portuguese. Results: After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, only 11 articles remained for analysis, between the years 2011 to 2019. It was noted in these studies, advantages of using kinesio taping in pain control, but they pointed out that the isolated technique was insufficient. Conclusion: Kinesio taping is a viable procedure for those who have this painful syndrome, but it is important to associate it with other techniques. Thus, the use of kinesio taping may be an alternative that supports this type of painful syndrome. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
