During more than twenty years, tango was despised by argentine young people, while its music, dance and poetry survived difficultly. But in the middle of the eighties of XX Century, the situation changed and tango started to return and gain the support of everybody. Today, tango lives an extraordinary moment all around the world, perhaps similar as that of the "golden forties". In these days, there are many orchestras and singers, and argentine record industry is not indifferent of this renascent. What has happened with tango in the postmodernism era and in the globalization state of culture? Why a musical culture that was considered old fashioned in the beginning of rock history is today listened, danced and also played by people under 30s? The present paper explores the relationship between tango and the universe of youngsters along the Argentine history, trying to understand the genealogy of this old/new romance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
