However, most urgent purchases are oriented toward the low or inexistent planning, which, in addition to the economic factor in increasing the value of the good or the service, affects the areas involved, and even the image of the organization, the environmental and safety factors. Thus, the cause of emergencies becomes an indication and the negotiations can mean reduction of millions in expenses of large industries. Thus, the study became systemic in the emergency purchases of a large Brazilian pulp and paper producer, in addition, a methodology that allowed the reduction of planting and application costs. The objective of this study was to evaluate properties of brown pulp from Eucalyptus grandis and Eucalyptus urograndis of distinct chemical composition, mainly in refers to its xylans content, for the manufacture of tissue and printing and writing (P&W) paper grades. Brow pulps of kappa number 17-18 and xylans contents varying 6-21% had been produced under different cooking protocols: 1) conventional kraft; 2) pre-hydrolysis kraft; 3) high alkalinity kraft; and 4) kraft of high yield. The brown pulps had been beated in PFI mill and its respective produced papers had been evaluated as regards physical-mechanical and optic properties. The highest bulk values had been gotten for papers with low xylans contents, what had revealed interesting, if bleached, in the manufacture of tissue papers. The papers with high xylans contents, had been presented technically viable and with resistance characteristics adjusted for the manufacture of P&W papers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper aims to summarize the characteristics of 212 papers and 4 Themes (topics) in two BRASILIAN SYMPOSIA OF GEOGRAPHIC CLIMATOLOGY (2010 and 2012), read and separated according to the explained content and data of each main author, aiming to stimulate studies applied to the North of Brazil. The theoretical framework was based on the literature method and the approach of the study was the quantitative type, with drafting tables that enriched the analysis and interpretation. The researches for this article were based on bibliography search methods. The study demonstrated a decrease in the number of articles published from one event to another and that the scientific production in the Northern region is smaller than in other Brazil's regions, showing a potential for further research concerning this topic. This study drew statistical studies between the increased use of information technology and paper consumption in the Brazilian market, using data for twenty years. Through the literature review on the topic and statistical tests, it was investigated whether corporate investments in information technology provided to reduce the consumption of certain types of papers. The results corroborate the earlier study, developed by Moraes Meirelles and Nacimiento (2010), which was analyzed in a period of six years, indicating that the use of IT did not bring benefit to the reduction of paper consumption. It is evident through this study that the values of IT investments by companies participating in this research had positive correlation with the fall in consumption of newsprint and writing paper type, indicating that, possibly, access to digital information through reduced the use of newspapers. It is also evident in the increased consumption of other types of paper such as newsprint and packaging, consumption increased along with IT investments, thus we can deduce that the easy access to computer equipment, including printers would lead to the printing of electronic files, as well as increased sales of electronic equipment tends to increase the use of packing paper. The sludge generated in the paper recycling industries presents characteristics of a fibrous mass of brown color, being classified as residue II A - no inert. Previously, most of the industries have had the landfill as the final form of disposal of this kind of waste. However, nowadays, the companies are looking for better usable alternatives for those residues, as the treatment for using the residues as inputs in other processes and products, with the intention to avoid or to reduce environmental liabilities. In this context, the aim of the present work was the study of a biological treatment for the paper recycling sludge, through the construction, operation and monitoring of windrow composting. Due to the intrinsic characteristics of the sludge, as low C/N ratio and high content of nitrogen, it had been necessary to add residue of pruning and weeding and sugarcane bagasse in the experiments to reach appropriate values for the composting. At the end of the experiment, the residue of pruning and weeding with sludge composting, generated an organic compost, potentially usable as a fertilizer, which complies to the established values for the Ministry of Agriculture, instituted by the Instruction Normative n° 25 of 23/07/2009.
