W artykule przedstawiono badanie nad ekwiwalencją przekładu pisemnego w kontekście oceny wiarygodności zeznań świadka. W pierwszej części omówiono psychologiczne kryteria oceny wiarygodności zeznań oraz lingwistyczne wskaźniki kłamstwa, które stanowiły podstawę teoretyczną badania. Tłumaczenia zgromadzone w toku badania poddano analizie językowej i porównano z oryginałem, aby wyodrębnić kategorie błędów popełnianych przez tłumaczy przed szkoleniem i po nim z zakresu znajomości kryteriów oceny wiarygodności zeznań. Przeprowadzono także analizę porównawczą ocen przyznanych przez sędziów kompetentnych oceniających oryginał i tłumaczenia. Analiza statystyczna wykazała, że istnieją różnice w ocenie oryginału i jego tłumaczenia, a znajomość kryteriów wiarygodności zeznań świadka ma pozytywny wpływ na ekwiwalencję tłumaczenia. This article presents a study on the equivalence of written translation in the context of the assessment of the credibility of witness testimony. Part one examines psychological criteria for assessing the credibility of testimony and linguistic indicators of deception that formed the theoretical basis of the study. Translations gathered during the study were analyzed linguistically and compared with original in order to categorize the errors and mistakes made by translators before and after learning the criteria of statements credibility assessment in training. The article also presents a comparative analysis of the assessments made by expert judges with regard to both the original testimonies and the translations thereof. The results of the statistical analysis showed that there are certain differences in the assessment of an original and its translation, and knowledge of the criteria for determining the credibility of a witness’s testimony has a positive impact on translation equivalence.

Cel pracyCel badania: Analiza właściwości psychometrycznych Skróconej Skali Ilorazu Empatii (SSIE), polskiej wersji kwestionariusza EQ – short [1], stosowanego do mierzenia empatii afektywnej i poznawczej.MetodaMetoda: Przebadano 940 osób w wieku od 15 do 80 lat. Osoby biegłe w języku polskim i angielskim (N = 31) wypełniły kwestionariusz w wersji oryginalnej i polskiej. Pozostałe osoby badane (N = 909) wzięły udział w badaniu trafności teoretycznej i rzetelności adaptowanego narzędzia w wersji polskiej.WynikiWyniki: Pomiary przy użyciu SSIE w wersji polskiej i angielskiej wykazują wysoki poziom korelacji (r = 0,80; p < 0,001). Ocena trafności teoretycznej i rzetelności adaptowanego narzędzia wykazała, że polska wersja językowa SE posiada dobre własności psychometryczne takie jak zgodność wewnętrzna (α-Cronbacha = 0,78) czy trafność teoretyczna, porównywalne z wersją oryginalną. We wszystkich grupach wiekowych odnotowano istotne statystycznie różnice międzypłciowe wyników na SSIE: kobiety osiągają na tej skali wyniki wyższe niż mężczyźni.WnioskiWnioski: Polska adaptacja EQ-short jest pod względem językowym i psychometrycznym podobna do angielskiej wersji skali i spełnia standardy rzetelnego narzędzia do pomiaru empatii.

The author attempts to determine the role of imagination in (literary) translation Definitions of various types of imagination, taken from dictionary, or discussed in psychological works, are referred to in relation to processes occurring in the mind of a recipient of text (the readertranslator and the intended reader of translation) confronted with the original, defined as “the Other’s word.” The discussion is illustrated by three selected examples of relations between imagination and foreign cultural determinants: a poet’s reference to an outdated, idealised cognitive model, reference to the Other’s realities of material culture, and grammatical determination of a cultural cognitive model.
