The paper describes the peculiarities of the formation of business sustainability in the transport industry, and characterizes the main factors affecting it. It was determined that for the business sustainability of the transport industry, innovative processes and transformations play a significant role, which encourage enterprises to be client-oriented and provide quality service to consumers, the ability to adapt to changes in the economic situation and new social challenges. A feature of the modern development of the transport industry is the transition to an innovative path of development, which will allow transport enterprises to occupy more priority positions compared to their competitors. The impact of innovative transformations on ensuring business sustainability of the transport industry is characterized by the use of innovations in the implementation of commercial activities, ensuring the quality of services (products), which will make it competitive. The paper offers a methodical approach to choosing a strategy for managing the business sustainability of the transport industry in the conditions of innovative transformations, which allows choosing an appropriate development strategy depending on the indicators of economic activity (IEA), the level of business sustainability (IBS), risk indicators (IBR).

The paper addresses some issues related to the status of agricultural activity in the light of the 'Business Constitution.' It discusses the conditions that an individual needs to meet in order to become an entrepreneur in the context of the Entrepreneurs' Law, and the scope, categories and nature of exemptions to the application of economic activity regulations. The concepts of agricultural activity provide a background for these considerations. Also, this paper makes an attempt to answer the question of whether, in the light of legal acts included in the 'Business Constitution,' an agricultural activity can be considered an economic activity and a farmer, who is a natural person, can be considered an entrepreneur. The above classification is related to the problem of applying the 'Business Constitution' to agricultural activities. The author concludes that the new legal regulation comprehensively governs matters related to the establishment and pursuit of an economic activity, and, through the legal instruments it implements, helps entrepreneurs to support the development of economic activity. The definition of entrepreneur provided for in the Entrepreneurs' Law is of a more general and universal dimension. The author finds that in some cases, the legislator extended the definition of agricultural production activity with the sale of partially processed plant and animal products made by the farmer. Objectives The purpose of the paper is to examine the impact of labour incomes on economic activity and growth in Poland. Material and methods The thesis of the paper is rooted in the hypothesis of underconsumption and it claims that a proportion of labour incomes to the domestic product exerts an influence on the structure and the value of the aggregate demand and thus it eventually has an effect on economic activity. Empirical analysis provided refers to macroeconomic data for the period 2010-2019. Results The results support the thesis; relatively low growth of labour incomes is followed by low rates of economic growth and investment and higher rates of unemployment. Conclusions The analysis of changes in real production per employee, real wages, the rate of unemployment, the rate of GDP growth and changes in households’ consumption spending strongly support the claim that low wages at least periodically stand behind a demand constraint in the Polish economy and that they impair economic results.

In Leon Koźmiński's book Voltaire finansista (Voltaire the Financier), Voltaire is presented from an unknown side--not as a philosopher or a poet, but as a businessman. The author of the paper considers the possible aspects of Voltaire's entrepreneurship that may raise interest of historical sociology scholars. He also pays attention to the merging of the social roles of the entrepreneur and the philosopher, and Voltaire's mingling into the then political establishment, to the differences between the social and economical landscape of such cities as London, Amsterdam, or Paris, and those of the central Vistula. Impossibility of dealing with money or investments of the Polish nobility contrasted to Voltaire's activity proves interesting. In Poland at that time a nobleman was to manage a farm or serve the army, while financial activity was given to the Jews, which brought about multiple and longlasting consequences. From the point of view of historical sociology, it is vital to discern the crucial influence of the state's central power on the economic activity of the individuals, as well as the ways the then power transferred message to its people, including the entrepreneurs. The author is interested in the forms of activity that were seen as acceptable when making economical decisions. The image of the modern, according to the criteria of its time, farmstead sketched by Voltaire is worthy of attention. A separate issue, also of interest to the historian researching the sociological borderline, is the use of Voltaire's correspondence in the analysed study. As it is obvious that we lack social opinion material of the old days, employing pieces of information from letters is especially advantageous in spite of the many difficulties that this source poses to its readers. The task of the paper is to analyze Talcott Parsons’ concept of economic disinterestedness, which the classical American sociologist introduced at an early stage of his work. It is aimed at economic orthodoxy, whose permanent foundation is the still vital figure of homo oeconomicus. The concept of disinterestedness is about crossing the limits of one’s own advantage in economic activities. When justifying the concept, Parsons refers to Alfred Marshall and his concept of a “gentleman of the world of free industry and entrepreneurship” and Max Weber’s concept of the “spirit of capitalism”. The aim of this paper is to present civil-law aspects of carrying out an economic activity by persons with disabilities who do not have full capacity to perform acts in law. Key to this discussion was a hypothesis that persons with disabilities who do not have full capacity to perform acts in law may de lege lata carry out an economic activity. In the course of the analysis, relevant provisions of the Civil Code, Family and Guardianship Code, the Code of Civil Procedure, the Act on the Central Register and Information on Economic Activity and the Entrepreneurs Act are analysed using the method of investigation of the law in force. The analysis also covers proposals for legislative changes included in the draft act on amending certain acts to improve the legal and institutional environment for entrepreneurs. The research yields the following conclusions. Natural persons who do not have full capacity to perform acts in law may carry out an economic activity in their own name, though they perform acts associated with their activity with the participation of a statutory representative. Persons with limited capacity to perform acts in law may perform certain actions related to their business activity on their own. The taking up of an economic activity and other important matters related to economic activity require consent of the family and guardianship court. Introduction of legislative changes that involve clarification of principles of taking up and running an economic activity by persons who do not have full capacity to perform acts in law seems valid. Legislative proposals presented in the draft law of 13 April 2023 are insufficient and flawed, though the direction of changes must be recognized as correct.

Background and Objective: When examining women’s economic activity, it should be emphasised that related issues are a relatively new research direction, and an understanding of the specifics of the subject seems particularly important given that the number of women starting businesses in recent decades has been characterised by a permanent upward trend. The aim of this article is to present – against the background of the literature on the subject and empirical data collected by governmental institutions operating in the European Union – the entrepreneurial activity rate of women in Poland over a ten-year period (2012–2021). Materials and Methods: The article is based on reports and working papers published by Eurostat and the Central Statistical Office (CSO). To calculate the data presented in the publication, mathematical analysis tools were used in the field of comparative research, the occurrence of trends and the indication of existing trends and noticeable increases. Results: Poland’s twenty-first position compared to other EU Member States points to unlimited development opportunities and the need to support this economic space at every level of economic activity. This conclusion is reinforced by the statistics achieved by the opposite sex - men - which showed an upward trend over the period studied (2012–2021). This is also confirmed by the value of the calculated median female gross salary, which is lower by EUR 126.2 than the median male gross salary in Poland. Practical implications: A defined indicator of female entrepreneurship will allow recommendations to be tailored for state bodies and local government institutions supporting women’s economic activity in Poland as well as in other EU countries with a similar economic structure. Conclusion and summary: Visible discrimination against women appears in the analysis of the average gross salary at different organisational levels in Poland, which can be used as an argument to support and create additional aid programmes to support women’s economic activity.

In mainstream economics the principle of freedom from value judgment (Wertfreiheit) is enforced. This principle has different interpretations. The aim of this paper is to present the author's interpretations of the principle of Wertfreiheit. The basic ideas of axiology have been analysed: values, valuations, and value judgments, including their application to economic activities and economic researches. Two models of valuations have been presented ' the taste model and perception model -- as well as points of view of economic researches on those models. The ageing of societies has recently become one the most important phenomena shaping social policy in Poland and other developed countries. At the same time, it is becoming increasingly clear that ageing should not be perceived only in terms of threats. Silver economy, age management, and lifelong learning are the notions that become acknowledged by various labour market and social policy stakeholders. The rationale behind these ideas is to make the best use of the potential of people around the retirement, in line with the life cycle concept, but also of new social needs that arise with an increasing proportion of people aged 50+ in the society, and with considerably improving quality of their lives. The discussion presented in the article is limited to problems in extending working life of Poles. The aim of this paper is analysis of the factors influencing the extension of the working life in Poland, from an individual perspective, i.e. by looking at the reasons of individual decisions of people close to the retirement age. The article is both theoretical and empirical in nature, presenting a review of studies including the support for the economic activity of "older" workers, coupled with the outcomes of a statistical analysis carried out in the project „Equal opportunities in the labour market for people aged 50+”. The article presents in two aspects the flint material from the Final Palaeolithic Arch Backed Piece technocomplex from the site of Nowy Młyn Cypel at Rydno. The typological, morphological and technological analyses of the artefacts, show, among others, characteristic features of the so-called Kamienna variant of the ABP complex, probably an older component of the Arch Backed Piece assemblages, which may be a testimony to the local process of azilianisation in Poland. The undertaken attempt at reconstructing the spatial arrangement of the flint concentrations, associated with features with haematite coloured fill, allows determining the character and organisation of the campsites, as well as the types of flint processing and economic activities of the inhabitants. An artefact distribution analysis, the refitting method and Dick Stapert's ring and sector method were utilised in the study. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the course of the research, the scientific literature was analyzed in terms of historical aspects of audit development. The analysis of scientific papers shows that there is no unified approach to audit periodization; this situation has developed due to a combination of objective reasons: the theory underlying the research, the object of research, methods and objectives of the research. Our research was based on the study of historical aspects of business audit in the following order: the origins of audit as an institution of financial control; the formation and evolution of audit in Ukraine (as part of the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union); the emergence of audit and the development of audit in its modern sense; modern trends in audit in the world. During the study it was found that the modern state of audit as an independent financial control and as commercial activity is determined by the external environment of the following aspects: the specific socio-economic relations from the position of the subject of the audit as a tool for independent financial control, specific development management science from the position of introduction of auditing as a tool of the relationship between the management units, development of audit as consulting from a position of auditing as a business. The article investigates institutional support (a set of state, professional and public institutions whose main functions are the regulation of audit and auditing activities) of audit framework of Western European countries.

The aim of the paper was to present and assess the economic activity of disabled people on the Polish labour market from a country, voivodship, and Masovian Voivodship rural areas’ perspective. The study used data from the Labour Force Survey in Poland collected by the Central Statistical Office and original data collected by a questionnaire, using public institutions, NGOs and direct interviews. The adopted research period covered the years 2007-2018. Japanese candlestick charting as well as tabular and selected statistical methods were used to present the research results. Levels of analysed Polish labour market indicators for disabled people increased noticeably in the analysed period, however persisted significantly below those for non-disabled people. At a voivodship level, the study showed that rates and changes of economic activity in the group of disabled people differed visibly. The highest economic activity rates were observed in the Subcarpathian, Lubusz and Holy Cross voivodships, while the lowest in the West Pomeranian and Lesser Poland voivodships. In 15 voivodships, the unemployment rate decreased significantly in the analysed period. Survey results highlighted a relatively high employment rate and low earnings rates in the researched group of disabled people from the Masovian Voivodship, where the level of education had a significant positive impact on those rates.
