Background: Patients admitted in especial units such as coronary care unit (CCU) require intensive care for different aspects including skin problems. Here in this report we aimed to perform a survey on different skin lesions in patients admitted in CCU by the time of admission and when discharging. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, we had a survey on 200 patients admitted in CCU in AL-Zahra hospital, Isfahan. A dermatologist observed and examined each patients for any skin lesions by the time of admission and when discharging from CCU. Results: Here we showed that 15 percent of patients admitted in CCU have at least one skin lesion and also we indicated that seborrhea dermatitis and then rosacea have the most prevalence by the time of admission in CCU. Other skin lesions were acute skin failure. We also showed that prevalence of bed sore and pressure sores increased amazingly during admission. Conclusion: Rosacea, seborrhea dermatitis and drug allergic reactions after pressure sores are the most frequent skin lesions in CCU and there might be an association between rosacea and cardiovascular diseases.

Acne is a common skin lesion which controls the quality of life. Skin analysis is one of the important steps before starting treatment. previously, this detection has been done manually, which cause different results by the various dermatologist. Today, the detection of skin lesions is done automatically, which leads to a more accurate diagnosis. In this paper, the locating and counting of skin lesions is done using Fuzzy Logic algorithm. Although many studies are done to detect the skin lesions, but the results of each method usually take a lot of time. Therefore, one of the advantage of proposed method is in processing time and then data cluster, which the ISODATA method is used. The images used in this study take from the Visio Face Machine, which has no effect to the skin’s texture, and are used in the training phase of system. Given that these images are in RGB color space; colors can be displayed in HSI color space in more details. For lesion detection and feature extraction, Fuzzy Logic algorithm and HSI color space are used. But the purpose of this paper is to build a robot, which burn lesions by Plexr Plus machine automatically. In test phase, using RGB color space and depth sensor of Kinect camera, three dimensional location of lesions are identified. Finally, the average of accuracy, precision and sensitivity were 99.4, 88,2 and 51 respectively.

Background and purpose: Viral hepatitis is a systemic infection that mainly affects the liver. We studied the prevalence of skin lesions and infectious diseases including hepatitis A and B virus infection in patients attending Qaemshahr Razi Teaching Hospital, Iran 2013-2015. Materials and methods: In this retrospective descriptive study, records of patients diagnosed with hepatitis were investigated for skin lesions and other simultaneous infectious diseases. Results: There were 188 patients with viral hepatitis in whom skin lesions were observed in 16 and 35 were diagnosed with other simultaneous infections. Conclusion: In current study, the incidence of skin lesions in patients with hepatitis B was higher than that of other hepatitis. High rate of infections such as pneumonia and bronchitis among patients with viral hepatitis indicates a decreased ability of their immune system in protecting against other infectious agents.

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is the most common of the endocrine disorders characterized by hyperglycemia. Diabetes mellitus affects every organ of the body including the skin. Skin lesions have negative impact on quality of life of diabetic patients and it is also very frustrating for both patients and their physicians. The pathophysiologic mechanisms of skin lesions are mainly unknown.The aim of this study was to evaluate the frequency of skin manifestations in this patients. Materials & Methods: A cross sectional study was performed on 700 patients attending to the diabetes clinic. The Institute ethical clearance was obtained before the start of the study.A complete cutaneous examination was done in all cases. A detailed dermatological examination was carried out by a consultant dermatologist and cutaneous findings were recorded. Relevant microbiologic and histopathological investigations were done whenever they were necessary to diagnose the cutaneous disorders.Statistical analysis was carried out by using t- test and Chi-square test. Results:Seven hundred patients(73% women and 27% men )were enrolled in the study.Diabetic skin manifestations were detected in 94.5% of diabetic patients.The most common skin lesions were cherry angioma (37%),skin tag (32%) and eczema (32.8%).Our study showed a significant difference between the involvement by skin lesions and duration of diabetes (P=0.05) and age of patients (P=0.03) but it didn,t show any significant difference between the involvement of skin lesions and HbA1C Conclusion: Our study showed that the skin lesions are common in DM patients and the duration of diabetes and age are positively correlated with skin lesions. For these reasons, education and special attention to medical staff and patients and searching approach to early diagnosis and treatment of skin lesions seem to be necessary.

Introduction & Objective: Leishmaniasis is a major worldwide health problem throughout the world and in Iran as well. Skin lesions are mostly healing but nonhealing cases have also increased recently. T-helper type1 (Th1) responses induction helps the patients to resist against the disease while T-helper type2 (Th2) responses cause susceptibility to disease. With the assessment of IL-5, IL-10, IL-12, and IL-18 cytokines secreted from peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) in leishmaniasis healing and nonhealing patients, their role in curing leishmaniasis was surveyed. In this study, 180 Beluga (Huso huso) weighing 120±0g each with a stocking density of 12 fish per tank were adapted with synthetic diet and then fed with different levels of AFBI (0, 25, 50,75 & 100ppb/kg of diets) under controlled conditions (T=18±2°C,DO=7.3ppm). The fish were fed 3% of their body weight four times a day for three months. Prevalence of skin lesions evaluated through clinical observations monthly. With regard to toxin concentration and time of exposure to AFB1 in experimental fish, different degree of skin lesions (simple hemorrhage to progressive wounds) were observed in different parts of body especially in vent, caudal peduncle, fins, and head. "Yellow sores" on head and trunk regions were considerable and led to deterioration of appearance. Prevalence of skin lesion in different treatments was 8-53.3%. After feeding with toxic diets was stopped, 16-24% healing was observed in the fish.

Objective: Lipoid proteinosis is a rare, autosomal recessive disease, characterized by persistent non-inflammatory popular lesions in the skin and mucous membranes. Papules are deposits of hyaline materials, similar to basement membrane substances in different connective tissues. The pathogenesis of disease is still unknown. Treatment is nonspecific and symptomatic. There are few reports of good results after treatment with dimethylsulphoxide and etretinate. Case: This is a case report of a nine-year old girl with typical popular lesions on free margins of the eyelids erosive, crusted and scarring skin lesions and hoarseness were also noted. After treatment with etretinate for 6 months, skin biopsy examination confirmed the diagnosis exosire and crusted, hyperkeratotic lesions disappeared. There were fewer papular lesions on the eyelids that were not so thick as before and hoarseness alleviated.
