Background: Healing involves complex processes that are not yet fully known. The wound healing process consists of three stages. In all these stages, normal wound healing requires platelet activation, release of cytokines and growth hormones, and chemotaxis and cell differentiation. Platelets play a key role in homeostasis and wound healing and growth factor production of more than 30 carried out by them. Platelets regulate the healing process with their chemotactic effect. Antilogous PRP platelet count in about 3 to 5 times increase and consequently also increases the number of growth factors, for this reason, they are being used in surgical procedures and clinical therapy. Methods: At Ilam Medical Center in Imam Khomeini Hospital, 20 patients with two similar donor graft sites were gradually selected to participate in a clinical trial from January to March 2017. The two regions have the same skin graft patients, an area of Honor conventional and other areas with the topical administration of platelet-rich plasma That immediately after surgery and in the days after the fifth and eleventh, eightieth and after washing the wound with a topical serum Physiology rubbed on the wound and thus treated The rate of wound healing clinically and using X-ray photo-checked and compared. Results: Seven are male and thirteen are female and the age range of patients is between 17 and 67 years. After collecting wound healing times in two groups, we used the means comparison method to evaluate the effect of PRP on wound healing rate and analyzed the results (T-Test). Because the data followed a normal distribution, we used the Independent T-test method, which resulted in 0.416, which was higher than the alpha level equal to 0.05. Conclusion: In this study, we found that PRP had a positive effect on wound healing time and increased the speed of wound healing. It is suggested that the effect of the PRP method on various organs that have not been tested before, be discussed in future studies.

Background and Objectives: Pemphigus vulgaris (PV) is a chronic, rare mucocutaneous autoimmune bullous disease characterized by flaccid blisters and or pustules, with secondary erosions of the mucous membranes or skin. PV threatens the patient life by forming splits within the epidermis, accompanied by acantholysis (separating keratinocytes from each other). Case Presentation: Our case is a term female neonate with PV, born of a 31-year-old mother. On initial examination by a pediatrician, several thin-walled flaccid blisters and burst blisters accompanied with open sores were observed on the skin of hands, feet, face, and mucosa of the oral cavity, tongue, and throat. A positive Nikolskychr('39')s sign confirmed her involvement with the disease.

Background:Nevus sebaceous is a cutaneous hamartoma accompanied by secondary tumors, such as syringocystadenomapapilliferum.Syringocy-stadenomapapilliferum is a rare benign tumor with a controversial differentiation between eccrine and apocrine.Most syringocystadenomapapilliferum involving the scalp arises from anevus sebaceous. Case Presentation:Herein, we report a 15-year-old adolescent female with a congenital skin lesion on the forehead undergoing surgical excision after changing in size and shape of the lesion.After surgical excision and histopathological examination, a diagnosis of syringocystadenomapapilliferum arising from a sebaceous mole was made. Conclusion:Syringocystadenomapapilliferum is a rare skin tumor. Histological confirmation was required for a definitive diagnosis. Furthermore, surgery and complete removal of the lesion are needed for treatment

Introduction: Lichen planus is a relatively common chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease of unknown etiology. The World Health Organization has identified lichen planus as a potential precancerous lesion. Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) is a key enzyme for inflammatory processes and cell proliferation. The increased expression of COX-2 in some chronic precancerous inflammatory diseases and malignant neoplasms of the upper aerodigestive tract suggests its role in the early stages of carcinogenesis of the head and neck and can show its potential as a prognostic factor and marker of altered behavior. The aim of this study was to analyze the COX-2 marker in the pathogenesis and biological behavior of oral lichen planus and oral lichen planus with dysplasia. Materials and Methods: The incidence rate of the COX-2 marker in the 50 samples of the pathology archive of Mashhad Dental School, Mashad, Iran, including 25 samples of oral lichen planus and 25 samples of oral lichen planus with dysplasia, was evaluated using immunohistochemistry in 2017. In this cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study, the Kruskal-Wallis and Chi-square statistical tests were used to compare the incidence of the COX-2 marker in the study groups. Results: Based on the results of this study, there was no significant difference between the two groups of oral lichen planus and oral lichen planus with dysplasia in COX-2 staining pattern in the basal layer and connective tissue; however, it was significantly higher in the suprabasal layer of the lichen planus group with dysplasia than that of the oral lichen planus group. In terms of location, lichen planus lesions with dysplasia were more commonly observed in the buccal mucosa, and oral lichen planuslesions (without dysplasia) were more frequently noticed in lips. Conclusion: Based on the findings of the present study, it can be concluded that increased COX-2 expression is observed in oral lichen planus lesions, especially those with dysplasia. The presence of lesions in some areas of the mouth, such as the buccal mucosa, tongue, and border of the tongue, is also more associated with dysplasia.

Background: Low-level lasers are used for various medical applications including wound healing and hair loss treatment. Cell Therapy using skin stem cells could be a novel approach to hair transplantation. However, there is no study on the effect of low-level laser on the hair follicle stem cells. So, in this study, we investigated the effect of low level laser irradiation on viability and ROS production in the hair follicle stem cells. Methods: This study was performed in the cell culture laboratory of Medical Laser Research Center, Yara Institute in 2020 (June 2020 to February 2020). The hair follicle was isolated from the Safe Donor Area (SDA) using the 4mm punch method. In the laboratory, after separating the follicular units, the bulb region of each follicle was isolated via mechanical and enzymatic methods and cultured in FBS+F12-DMEM. Afterward, the stem cells were characterized via flow cytometry. The effect of low-level laser (685 nm) with different doses (1-20 J/cm2) was investigated on cell proliferation, viability and ROS production. Results: The stem cells were confirmed via flow cytometry and also morphological tests. The results indicated that the viability of the stem cells under laser irradiation was different. comparison of the cell viability before and after laser irradiation showed that the highest viability was related to 5 J/cm2 dose energy of laser irradiation. However, the viability of the cells in most dose energy of laser irradiation increased compared with the control group. Moreover, ROS production had a significant increase on 5 J/cm2 energy density of laser irradiation. We can be achieved better treatment in hair transplantation and hair follicle growth by knowing the effect of low-level laser irradiation on the viability of the hair follicle stem cells. Conclusion: The result of this study could be useful in cell therapy and hair transplantation due to the improvement of cell viability and increase in ROS production under the influence of laser irradiation.

Background: Wound healing is an important concern that humankind is facing and attempting to find compounds that have the least side effects on wound healing is important. Since violet flower extract has anti-inflammatory and disinfection effects, in this study the impact of this plant on wound healing was examined. Materials and Methods: 32 rats were provided from the laboratory animal breeding center in Shahrekord, and after anesthetizing them, a full-thickness skin wound was created by a 2 by 2 Cm stencil in the posterior cervical region. The control group received no treatment, one group received Eucerin, another group received Silver Sulfadiazine 1% and the experimental group received ointment of violet flower extract 20% twice a day. Throughout the study, the length and width of the wounds were measured in each group every three days. On the 3rd, 7th, 14th and 21st days after creating the wound, the rats were anesthetized and the healed tissues were examined for histopathologic studies. Background: Uremic pruritus is one of the important problems in patients undergoing hemodialysis. Causing the mechanism of uremic pruritus in hemodialysis patients is complex and multifactorial. Almost 60 percent of hemodialysis patients suffer from uremic pruritus. Oral hydroxyzine is a common treatment for uremic pruritus of this patients. This study aimed to survey effect of hydroxyzine on uremic pruritus of hemodialysis patients. Methods: This quasi-experimental study (pre and post design) performed on 40 patients with eligible criteria. All of the hemodialysis patients who suffer from pruritus received a tablet of hydroxyzine 25 mg daily for 6 weeks. In this time, drugs and the plan of hemodialysis were constant. Pruritus score of patients, evaluated with 5-D pruritus scale that had 8 items with 5-score Likert scale and evaluate duration, direction, disability, and distribution of pruritus. Severity scores of pruritus before and after treatment with tablet of hydroxyzine were compared. This study was conducted on hemodialysis patients in the Soodeh Center of Hemodialysis in the south of Tehran, Iran, from September 2016 to February 2017. Results: The findings of this study showed that most of the patients in this study were male (55%) with mean age of 55.97±11.59 years. The most cause of chronic renal failure in these patients was diabetes (37.5%). This study showed that 32.5% of the hemodialysis patients had moderate to severe uremic pruritus. The mean score of pruritus before the treatment with hydroxyzine was 16.73±3.4 and the most effect of this drug was in the social activity item (2.47±0.6). It has been reported that pyrozilidine derivatives bear antioxidant activity and antioxidant agents that accelerate wound healing process. The aim of the present study was to assess the activity of Methyl 2'-Methyl-1,3-dioxo-1,1',2',3,5',6',7',7a'-octahydrospiro[indene-2,3'-pyrrolizidine]-2' carboxylate (6) on the full-thickness excisional wound healing in diabetic rats. Material and Methods: 60 male Wistar rats were randomized into three groups of 20 animals following the creation of the wound. Group 1 (normal control): creation of the wound with no further intervention. Group 2 (diabetic control): induction of diabetes in the animals and creation of the wound with the intraperitoneal administration of 100 microliter DMSO (0.25%) for one week. Group 3 (treatment): induction of diabetes in the animals and creation of the wound with the intraperitoneal administration of 100 microliter of the synthetized agent (60 µg/kg) dissolved in DMSO (0.25%) for one week. Induction of diabetes in the animals of groups 2 and 3 was performed using streptozotocin. Histologic studies were conducted on the days 7, 14 and 21 post wounding. Background: Aphanizomenon flos-aquae (AFA) is a type of blue-green algae and contains a source of biological compounds. These microalgae have many beneficial health effects. Recently, fucoidan, known sulfated polysaccharide component of AFA algae, has been claimed to stimulate stem-cell mobilization in animal models. Stem cells play an essential role in tissue repair process. In this study, we use excisional full thickness wound model to investigate the effectiveness of trademark AFA extract on skin wound repair process. Methods: In this experimental study, 21 adult male Wistar rats (weighing 200-250 g) were used and under general anesthesia (intraperitoneally with a ketamine/xylazine solution), two round excisional wounds were created under sterile conditions by a 6 mm punch on the dorsum (paravertebral area) of all rats. Animals were randomly assigned into 3 groups. In groups 1 and 2 (SE-200, SE-400), StemEnhance© (StemTech Health Sciences Inc. British Columbia, Canada) were given respectively 200 or 400 mg/kg by oral gavage once daily and in group 3 (Sham), distilled water (DW) was given to all subjects. Post-wounding gavage of StemEnhance or DW started from 1st day and continued to 7th day. The wound surface area was monitored daily by digital camera and assessed by Image Tool™ software, version 3.5 (UTHSCSA, San Antonio, TX, USA). At 9th day post-wounding animals were sacrificed and repaired tissues were harvested by and assessed by a 8 mm punch. Repaired skin areas were processed for hematoxylin and eosin (H&E). Histopathological parameters of healing including inflammatory cell infiltration, angiogenesis, and fibroblast count were assessed by pathologist. Our study was conducted in the Physiology Department of Medical School, Bushehr University of Medical Sciences, Iran, from October 2016 to March 2016. Results: Macroscopic imaging of wound area revealed that there was statistically significant difference in wound area reduction between SE-200 group and sham group on day 6 post wounding (P=0.032). Moreover, histological findings showed that the number of neutrophils, macrophages, fibroblasts, and microvessel density decreased in both StemEnhace-treated groups. There were no significant differences between two treatment groups. Conclusion: According to the obtained results it seems that the extract of Aphanizomenon flos-aquae algae positively affects wound healing process by ameliorating inflammatory response in early healing phases.

Skin as the largest organ, is influenced by wide variety of environmental and external factors. In addition many internal diseases can involve skin. Oral cavity and skin have close contact with each other Like skin which has contact with various external factors, oral cavity and its contents also has touch with different chemical agents, enzymes and diverse microorganisms. Oral lesions of dermatologic disorders need an exact attention because these oral lesions may be the sole and first presentation of skin diseases and the presence of these lesions may affect the quality of patient’s life and nourishment Although oral mucus membrane and skin are in direct continuity with each other ,but different condition of oral cavity causes specific characters and functions. Various infectious agents and different dermatologic disorders cause oral lesions and the most prevalent of these are candida infection and lichen planus. Many oral lesions are treated without specific and exact diagnosis by physician and symptoms like pain and pricking sensation and others are managed. so increasing diagnostic and therapeutic knowledge of these lesion is necessary. So we explain the oral lesion of common dermatologic disorders in this article in order to facilitate diagnosis and prevention of progression of these disorder that some may be dangerous.

Background: Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is an autoimmune connective tissue disease characterized by vasculopathy and excessive collagen deposition in the skin and internal organs. Based on the skin damage we divide the patients into two groups: limited and diffuse SSc. In restricted type, the thickness of the skin is limited in the face and distal parts of the elbows and knees, with less involvement of internal organs, whereas in diffuse type, facial skin, organs, and trunk generally increase in thickness and internal visceral involvement is noticeable as renal failure, pulmonary artery pressure, and interstitial lung fibrosis. According to the prevalence studies, the prevalence of systemic sclerosis is estimated to be 15 cases per 100,000, of which the prevalence in women is 3 times more than men. Based on clinical evidence the prevalence of SSc is high in Khuzestan province. The aim of this article was to evaluate the demographic features of SSc in Khuzestan province, Iran. Methods: This cross-sectional study conducted on two hundred SSc patients referred to Rheumatology Clinic of the Golestan University Hospital in Iran, from 2001 to 2015. Patients were selected based on the American College of Rheumatology classification criteria for SSc and were divided into diffuse and restricted types based on the site of skin involvement. Individual characteristics and clinical symptoms were extracted from the information in the patient records which were carefully compiled by physicians. Data on age, sex, race, duration of illness, and family history of SSc were collected orally. Results: 91.5% of the enrolled patients were female. The mean age was 44 years and the most common race in our study was Lor. The prevalence of the diffuse form of SSc was 68% and the limited form was 32%. The Raynaud's phenomenon was detected in 100% of patients. Sclerodactyly and interstitial lung disease were found in 88.5% and 54.5% of patients respectively. Laboratory features such as ANA (93%), Anti-Scl-70 (77.5%) and anti-centromere antibody (ACA) (70%) of SSc patients were reported. Conclusion: According to the results of this article, the most systemic sclerosis patients in Khuzestan province were middle-aged Lor race females and the most common type was diffuse systemic sclerosis.

Background and Aim: Vitiligo is a dermatologic disorder which has autoimmune and genetic basis. Different studies in the world have shown relationship of vitiligo with autoimmune disorders. The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between vitiligo and fasting blood sugar (FBS).Materials and Methods: This cross sectional study was performed between 2016 and 2019 and included 102 patients with vitiligo.Diagnosis of vitiligo was made by our dermatologist and FBS levels of the participants were measured.Results: Mean age of the patients and duration of the disease were 39.7±15.8 years and 56.1±34.1 months respectively. 45 (%44) patients were male, the disorder was most frequent in the housewives. The most common site of involvement was genitalia which was affected in 52 (%31) cases, and the least common site was oral mucosa which was involved in 6 patients (%3.6). Only 4 (%2.7) patients had family historyof vitiligo.Conclusions: The results showed that there were no significant association between vitiligo and variables of FBS, gender, occupation, site of involvement, family history of vitiligo, history of using medications and also any other disease.

Background: The choice of a suitable and ideal dressing for managing of pilonidal cystectomy wound with open technique is very valuable. Therefore, the present study was carried out to Investigation of the effect of dressing by using of hydrogel and alginate products compared to simple dressing method on the wound healing process caused by pilonidal cystectomy, the pain experienced by patients when changing dressing, the cost of treatment and the length of their absence from work. Methods: The present study is part of a clinical trial study. That was performed on 40 patients who were candidates of pilonidal. After random sampling, patients were randomly assigned to one of two groups, simple or alginates groups. Over the last two decades, due to the advances in the techniques used in the design and synthesis of peptides as well as the understanding of the underlying molecular mechanisms involved in their therapeutic action on skin disorders, novel applications have been emerged for peptides as cosmeceuticals. There are several advantages in the use of bioactive and biomimetic peptides such as availability, diverse and selective mode of action in skin physiology, and lack of immunogenic reactions that have attracted skin specialists’ attention for their potential use as anti-wrinkle agents. These peptides are known to have various biological roles against skin ageing, most prominently as extracellular matrix signal modulators and collagen synthesis stimulants. In addition, they may act as carrier peptides, antioxidants, neurotransmitter or enzyme inhibitors. However, they are facing a few obstacles for widespread applications in topical anti-ageing skin products: a) clinical evidence for the therapeutic efficacy is still limited; b) skin penetration may be weak due to their hydrophilicity, high molar mass, and binding to other ingredients; and c) high cost. Peptide transport through skin can be effectively boosted by penetration enhancers, lipophilic modifications, peptide microencapsulation, and skin microporation. There are currently more than 30 therapeutic peptides that have been occasionally introduced into the market of skin care products. This review summarizes different classes of topical peptides with proven effectiveness against skin ageing in-vivo. Moreover, the challenges of and approaches to peptide transport through skin OR (the delivery challenges and approaches) are discussed.

The main objective of the current study was to optimize gluten free doughnuts formula for which the effect of xanthan, guar and Transglutaminase (TGase) enzyme were investigated. Xanthan, Guar and TGase were added from 0 to 2% of flour basis to the basic formula. Treatments were designed based on the mixture design of the Minitab software. The optimum conditions were selected based on the oil absorption, hardness, color, porosity and specific volume. The results showed that the high oil absorption occurred at the high level of TGase in absence of gums and the minimum oil absorption happened at the triple point. TGase caused cross linkage between rice flour protein, potato flour protein, and soy protein concentrate, which led to making protein network, xanthan gum,creating viscoelastic properties and guar gum,generating inter-surface properties, finally resulting in the increase of porosity and specific volume of doughnuts respectively. The interaction between the components showed that increasing the amount of guar gum improved the lightness of doughnuts. Texture parameters showed that samples with just gums without TGase showed the highest hardness. The synergistic effects of these gums increased viscosity. Hardness was decreased by protein network induced by TGase. The results of this study showed that the formula containing all three components could simulate the protein network in the gluten-free doughnut. The optimum point was 0.98% of xanthan, 0.44% of guar and 0.58% TGase which showed the best responds.

Background and Aim: The aim of this study was to assess the applied characteristics of wound covers containing nanoliposomic essential oil of ajwain, with suitable antimicrobial properties and lack of cytotoxicity. Materials and Methods: Liposomal formulations of the ajwain essential oil containing DSPE-PEG, cholesterol, span60 and SPC80 were prepared using a thin layer method. The rooting and spray methods on a cellulose fabric were used to produce skin wound cover. In addition to in vitro intracellular penetration and measurement of minimum inhibitory concentration of the product, textile characteristics, antimicrobial activity and 96 hours release of the essence in the wound cover were studied. Ethical Considerations: In this study, all principles of research ethics were considered. Findings: The loading efficiency of the liposomal formulation was more than 85%. The small particle dispersion index (PDI = 0.02) in the form of the PEGylated formulation indicates optimal dispersion of the particles which reduces the buildup of the drug in the cutaneous application. The standard AATCC microbial test showed inhibitory effect of the wound cover on bacteria, especially E. coli. Textile tests indicated acceptable properties of the produced wound cover, too. Conclusion: Altogether, this wound cover showed acceptable features in combating the two selected bacteria responsible for infectious skin ulcers.

Herpes zoster (Shingles; Zona) is an acute infectious skin disease that is caused by the reactivation of varicella zoster virus (VZV). After the initial infection (chickenpox) or vaccination, the virus remains inactive or latent in the dorsal root ganglia (DRG); when decreasing cell mediated immunity (CMI) occurs, the virus is reactivated from a latent phase to a lytic phase and frequently replicated in the dorsal ganglion cells then move to the sensory nerves into the skin and causes herpes zoster, which is typically characterized by painful neuralgia and unilateral dermatomal vesicular rash that normally lasts 3 to 5 weeks. The most common complication of herpes zoster is chronic pain owing to postherpetic neuralgia (PHN), which is estimated to occur in approximately 20% of the people aged 50 and over. Although herpes zoster is rarely fatal, the pain related to the acute phase of herpes zoster and subsequent PHN can cause psychological distress, physical disability, impaired sleep and consequently negatively affect the quality of life that can be significantly reduced by all of these occurrences. Due to increasing trend in the incidence of herpes zoster and increasing older people population, it will be expected that herpes zoster and subsequent PHN cause a significant economic burden to the healthcare system, the government, and families along with reducing the quality of life. The average lifetime risk of herpes zoster is estimated to be approximately 30% in developing countries. Although the risk of herpes zoster significantly increases with increasing age and diminished immune system function, any factor impacting on VZV-specific humoral and cellular immune responses may affect the risk of herpes zoster. This paper is provided an overview of the incidence and potential risk factors of herpes zoster with emphasis on the role of micronutrients and their deficiencies in the impaired immune system function. Also, the common method for prevention by zoster vaccine and the role of micronutrients in the efficacy of vaccination are shown.

Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome (HGPS), a rare genetic condition occurs one in every 8 million live births. HGPS is characterized by premature aging in various organs. The average survival rate of the affected patients is 13 years, and their most common causes of death are myocardial infarction and stroke. This disease occurs due to a gene mutation in the chromosomes of the patient. There is no definitive treatment for progeria, and most patients die at the age of 8 to 10 years. Scientists are interested in identifying this syndrome, as it may reveal the signs of a natural aging process at an early age. The studied patient was older than the global average with no cardiovascular disease and suffered from appendicitis.

Background and Aims: Lichen planus is a chronic inflammatory mucocutaneous disease with unknown etiology. One of the most common manifestations of patients with oral lichen planus is gingival involvement in the form of generalized erythematous areas. The aim of this study was to review the articles evaluating the role of plaque control on the gingival manifestations of oral lichen planus. Materials and Methods: Motor searches of Ovid Medline and EM base databases, PubMed, Google Scholar, and Science Direct were searched for article published between January 1990 and December 2017 using of relevant key words. After reviewing the abstracts of articles, 20 full articles were selected and among them, 7 relevant articles were reviewed in this study. Conclusion: From the literature, it was concluded that effective plaque control is the main part of lesions treatment and improvement of symptoms and gingival manifestations of oral Lichen planus.

Background: Bullous pemphigoid is one of the most common autoimmune blistering diseases. Incidence of bullous pemphigoid has been estimated 4 new cases per 100000, but new studies show that the incidence rate is increasing. The disease typically happens in the elderly people usually after 70 years. Annual mortality rate for bullous pemphigoid is reported up to 40%. The aim of this study was to evaluate epidemiological features of bullous pemphigoid in center of Iran. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study conducted in Alzahra hospital in Isfahan City. 69 patients with bullous pemphigoid hospitalized during the years 2008-2016 were studied. Findings: 59.45% of the patients were women. The mean and standard deviation of age was 68 ± 13 and 72 ± 14 years in woman and men, respectively (P = 0.01). Mucosal involvement was seen in 55.4%., and the most common underlying disease was hypertension (23.6%). 15.4% of women and 3.7% of men used furosemide, and the most commonly prescribed drugs were antihistamine (98%), antibiotics (97%), and topical (91%) and systemic (88.4%) corticosteroids, respectively. The mean and standard deviation of the dose of prednisolone was 54 ± 12 mg per day. Rise in serum blood sugar was reported in 30% of patients, and 3.6% of men and 15% of women needed intensive care unit (ICU) admission. 42.9% of men and 44.4% of women had relapse after discharge, and 38.64% of patients died during one-year follow-up. Conclusion: It seems that patients with bullous pemphigoid need careful follow up, especially during treatment, and at least for one year, because of their age (> 60), underlying diseases, type of treatment (corticosteroid use), and high mortality and relapsing rates in the first year after diagnosis.

Background: The skin is always damaged by burns, physical damages, and diseases such as diabetes mellitus. Infection and acute inflammation of wounds caused by burns and diabetes ulcers lead to extensive damage and death. Therefore, it is necessary the design polymeric dressings containing drugs with controlling ability to release the drugs in wound site. Methods: Wound dressing of poly(glycerol sebacate) (PGS)/ polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) was fabricated by coaxial electrospinning process. These fibers were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM) images. The anti-bacterial activity, cell viability (MTT) and cell adhesion were investigated. Findings: The results of SEM showed that the wound fibers were uniform, and with a diameter of 575 ± 40.6 nm. The drugs loaded were separately in the core and shell of fibers. The samples containing drugs showed good bactericidal activity against both of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Result of MTT did not show viability, attachment, and growth of cells in wound dressing with drugs. Conclusion: It can be concluded that this wound dressing with the release of two drugs simultaneously is an ideal wound dressing to control the infection, and heal the wound.

Background and Objectives: A wound is an injury or rupture on the surface of skin, which is caused physically, chemically, mechanically, or by heat. Case Report: The patient was a one-month-old infant who admitted to the hospital with seizure. After physical examination, it was revealed that the left thigh had an extensive skin necrosis due to burn. After the debridement of the lesion, due to the extent of the area of the injury, the child needed to have skin graft according to the plastic surgery consultation. However, the patient was treated with modern dressing (with tenderwet plus, Colactive besides the combination dressing of Aquasel Ag+, foam Aquasel, and colactive collagen) and recovered after 45 days. In this report, in addition to the introduction of a case of treatment of a wound with extensive necrosis by modern dressing in a one-month-old infant, a discussion was presented on the modern dressing.

Background: Despite the very good medicinal properties of lavender essential oil and licorice extract, some factors, such as allergic reaction and being biodegradable, limit the application of them as candidates for pharmacotherapeutic treatments. Nano-emulsification is one of the ways to overcome these limitations. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of nanoemulsion cream containing lavender essential oil and licorice extract on healing of deep skin wound in rat model. Methods: In this experimental study, nanoemulsion cream containing lavender essential oil and licorice extract was made using self-emulsifying method. To investigate its effect on wound healing process, a full-thickness skin wound was produced on 85 male Wistar rats. The wound area was digitally photographed at 2nd, 5th, 7th, 10th, and 14th days after surgery using a digital camera; then, the area was quantified using an image analysis system (Image J). Moreover, the expression of transforming growth factor-beta1 (TGF-β1), type I collagen (Col I), and Col III genes was evaluated using real-time polymerase chain reaction (real-time PCR) at days 2, 7, and 14. Findings: Nanoemulsion cream significantly decreased the surface area of the wounds faster than lavender essential oil and licorice extract cream (P < 0.010) and phenytoin (P < 0.050). Moreover, real-time PCR showed that topical treatment of wounds with nanomulsion cream increased the expression of TGF-β1, Col I, and Col III genes in rat’s skin (P < 0.01). Conclusion: Nanoemulsion cream containing lavender essential oil and licorice extract exhibits a promising wound healing potential towards excisional wound models in rats.

Introdution: Natural cellulose is a normal wound healing remedy that can improve the wound healing properties by combining with some herbal extracts. The aim of this study was to evaluate the production of bacterial cellulose containing Zingiber extract and to evaluate its healing effects in rat cutaneous wounds. Methods: In this experimental study, Gluconacetobacter xylinus was first cultured in a hysterine-scrum culture medium under static conditions and aqueous extract of Zingiber officinale plant was prepared. Then, Microculture Tetrazolium Test (MTT) was performed to evaluate the cytotoxicity of the aqueous extract of Zingiber officinale, and finally the healing process was investigated on rat cutaneous ulcers in different days of treatment. Results: The results of this study have shown that the cellulose layer was manufactured, tight, non-fracture and with pH = 7/005, which had the proper repair wound of 80%. The extract of the Zingiber officinale plant in the MTT test had toxicity to the cells, which has the same toxicity for cancerous and non-cancerous cells. For wound healing, the non-toxic concentration of the extract was used, and the results of the wound healing showed that cellulose and Zingiber officinale extract can be used as a suitable drug for wound healing. Conclusion: Gluconacetobacter xylinus is effective in healing and wound, also the Zingiber officinale plant has a miraculous effect on open wounds.

Background and Objectives: Systemic sclerosis (SSc) or scleroderma is a chronic connective tissue diseasewith unknown etiology. This chronic disease is characterized by vascular changes, immune dysfunction, and internal organ fibrosis. Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a frequent complication and a major cause of mortality in SSc patients. So far, no effective treatment has been identified for this disease. Based on the evidence proposing inflammation as the primary cause of fibrosis in SSc, administration of glucocorticoids has been suggested for the treatment of SSc-ILD. This study was conducted with the aim of investigation of the therapeutic effect of dexamethasone in the mouse model of systemic sclerosis. Methods: In this experimental study, bleomycin was injected subcutaneously into BALB/c mice to induce pulmonary fibrosis. For intervention with dexamethasone, the mice intraperitoneally received 14 doses of the drug. Langerhans cells (LCs) are antigen presenting cells resident within oral mucosa which, together with intraepithelial lymphocytes, play a role in mucosal defense. The aim of present study was to determine the immunohistochemical expression of LC in oral lichenoid reaction (OLR) and OLP compared with normal oral mucosa (NOM). Background: Tinea versicolor (TV) is common superficial fungal infection of the human skin characterized by scaling macula and mild disturbance of skin observed as pigmented and depigmented regions. Typically, it affects the chest, upper back, neck and shoulders. However, rarely, involvement of other unusual regions of the body such as the scalp and face, arms and legs, palms and soles, groin, vagina and axillary region has been reported. Case presentation: This case report is a case of axillary TV caused by Malassezia furfur that involved a 32-year-old woman that referred to Ghaem Medical Mycology Laboratory, Department of Health, Rescue and Treatment of Iran Police Force, in Tehran at February of 2018. Clinical appearance of lesions was erythematous or brownish pigmented macula with mild scaling of skin in involved areas. After sampling, to diagnosis, direct smears of 15% Potassium hydroxide (KOH) with scales and stained once with methylene blue were prepared. In direct microscopic examination, budding yeast cells with typical scar and short curved mycelium were observed. To identifying, culture on Sabouraud dextrose agar and modified Dixon agar media and other differential tests were performed. Finally, Malassezia furfur was identified as a causative agent of disease. The patient was taken on treatment of ketoconazole ointment for 4 weeks, approximately and lesions were disappeared. Conclusion: Malassezia furfur can causes Tinea versicolor in uncommon region such as axillary location. The clinicians must be aware of these variations in location of TV and perform the appropriate diagnostic workup when lesions have the characteristic morphology of TV despite an unusual location in order to differentiation from other disease such as candidiasis and erythrasma.

Introduction: Workers in open pit mines are frequently exposed to extreme heat stress during hot seasons. Several indices including Modified Discomfort Index (MDI) are used to evaluate the heat stress. The aim of this study was to evaluate the MDI and to investigate its relationship with ISO 7243 standard (Wet Bulb Globe Temperature index, WBGT) and physiological parameters of workers in an open pit mine. Material and Method: This cross-sectional study was conducted among 120 healthy male miners in an open pit mine during summer season in 2014. Physiological parameters including body core and skin temperature, heart rate and blood pressure were measured according to ISO 9886 standard. All environmental and physiological parameters were simultaneously measured and recorded during a work shift. The MDI and WBGT indices were calculated using the related formula. Statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS 22 software. Result: According to the criteria of MDI, about 29 percent of workers had the average level, 68 percent of workers experienced the intense level and 2.5 percent suffered from the extreme level of exposure to the heat stress. No case of light level exposure to heat stress was obtained among workers. A significant correlation was found between MDI and ISO standard index (WBGT). Background: Production of skin dressings or substitutes is one of the most important tissue engineering fields. Since copper is an important agent in skin extracellular matrix synthesis, we investigated the effect of collagen-gelatin-bioglass scaffolds containing copper in accelerating the healing process of full-thickness skin wound in mouse model. Methods: We used 12 mice with two identical skin wounds on their back (with 5 mm diameter, circular, and full-thickness), one wound as control, second dressed with collagen-gelatin-bioglass scaffold, and third dressed with collagen-gelatin-bioglass scaffold containing copper. After 14 days, the wound healing process was analyzed using both macroscopic and microscopic (after hematoxylin and eosin staining) methods. Findings: The wound dressings had porous structure, and were biocompatible. They improved the healing process of full-thickness wound in mouse model. This process was statistically much better in the dressings comprising copper (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Since wounds dressed with collagen-gelatin-bioglass scaffold containing copper improved wound healing in animal models, it can be suggested as a new approach in design and synthesis of wound dressings for human.

purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of AEBT therapy on reducing anxiety and experiencing avoidance of Mixed Trichotillomania، Skin picking disorder and Nail biting with three month follow up This study was a single-subject experimental design with multiple step-line based and follow-up on six patients (two patients for each disorder) with 10 sessions over the course of three month follow up، Samples were selected using purposeful method. Data was gathering through Massachusetts Hospital – Hair pulling Scale، Keuthen Skin Picking Scale، Beck Anxiety Inventory، Acceptance and Action Questionnaire and Malone- Massler Nail biting scale. The results of this study showed that Acceptance Enhanced Behavioral Therapy can reduce anxiety in patients with trichotillomania، skin picking and Nail biting، as well as experimental avoidance in patients with trichotillomania and skin picking decreased and the results were maintained during the follow-up period، but reduction of experimental avoidance in Nail biting was not significant and requires further studies on this subject.

Background and aims: The hospital staff services due to their jobs are daily exposed with disinfectant and cleaning substances and the exposure with these materials will cause dermatitis. The aim of this study was to determine the Affection risk to skin symptoms in hospital staff services due to continuous exposure to detergents and disinfectants. Methods: In this cross-sectional study 170 male and female staff services in both Educational hospital of Yazdwere evaluated. Using Nordic questionnaire about the frequency of skin symptoms including:skin redness, swelling, scaling and small blisters,scaly and itching on the hands, forearms, and between the fingers of The employees were collected and analyzed by SPSS software 16 version. Results: In this study the overall prevalence of hand dermatitis among the staff service was 36.8 percent . the most common symptom of skin dermatitis were scaling of the hands, forearms or fingers along the crack them (25.5 percent). Symptoms of redness and itching of the skin, hands, forearms or fingers with cracked skin were more in women than men .Symptoms of red skin and scaly hands, forearms or fingers and cracking of skin were more in individuals with less work experience. Conclusion: The results showed a strong correlation between exposure in the workplace and skin dermatitis among workers in the service. In order to reduce exposure to detergents and reducing the incidence of skin dermatitis symptoms, use of appropriate gloves and proper training required in their use is recommended.

Background and Objectives: Endothrix type of tinea capitis is one of the variety of dermatophytic infections of hair and scalp, which is more prevalent in boys, especially the age group of 6-11 years. The important point is that the report of this infection has shown a significant reduction in recent years due to the growth of urban health indicators, so that it is considered as a rare case. Case Report: The case was a 3-year-old boy with clinical signs of hair loss, broken hair, and black dots on the scalp along with inflammation, redness, dandruff, and itching at the lesion sites, who was referred to the laboratory of this treatment center in October 2016. According to the physician’s opinion, diagnostic mycology tests (direct and culture), were performed. By direct test and arthroconidia inside hair shaft, tinea capitis was diagnosed to be endothrix type, and by culture, the causative agent of the disease was diagnosed as Trichophyton violaceum. This rare case report, with regard to the possibility of infection and contagion in the nursery, can be a warning for the outbreak of dangerous fungal infections in urban communities, especially in facultys and nurseries. &nbsp

Introduction: Hospital acquired infections recognize as an important risk factor in health care. In this regard health care and hand hygiene is the first step in controlling the infections. This study, carried out with the aim of comparing the effect of hand washings in the usual way with disinfectants without water in microbial contamination of the hospitals hand nurses. Material and Method: Accordingly, samples were taken from hand of 30 nurses in the wards of surgery, pediatrics, emergency, CCU, ICU and cardiology in 4 steps before and after washing with soap and washing with liquid hand rub. Samples were cultured in EMB and Blood Agar medium, then identified by gram staining, catagase and coagugas tests and growth on manitol salt agar. Result: The findings showed that 30 samples were not grown on EMB medium، but 30 samples of Blood agar, before and after washing with soap and liquid hand rub, were grown and applying hand rub alcohol liquid is most effective than washing with soap. Identification of bacteria in manitol salt agar medium and coagulas test revealed %80 were coagulas negative staphylococcus and %20 coagulas positive staphylococcus. Conclusion: In this study washing with soap dose not effect on hand hygiene of nurses but disinfectant with liquid alcohol shows significant correlation in reducing microbial load on personnels’ hand that is revealed alcohol was more effective in reducing pollution.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a ubiquitous opportunistic pathogen, is the most common infective agent of burn wounds. The aim of this study was to compare the histopathological effect of a mixture of aqueous extract of cinnamon and honey with silver sulfadiazine on the healing of Pseudomonas aeruginosa infected second grade skin burn wounds in rats. To this end, 60 male rats were randomly assigned to four experimental groups (15 rats in each group). After inducing anesthesia, second grade burn wound with the diameter of 12 mm was created in the dorsal region of rats. Then, 1.5×108 cfu/ml P. aeruginosa PA01was equally bestrewed on the wound of all rats. Every 12 hours, silver sulfadiazine (group 1), honey (group 2) and aqueous extract of cinnamon and honey (group 3) were applied to the wounds and group 4 was kept as control. On days 7, 14, and 21, five rats were selected from each group at each time point and after inducing anesthesia and measuring the diameter of the wound by coliseum, microbial and histopathological samples were taken from the wounds. Microbial studies showed that in all groups except the control group, the growth of the microbe was stopped. Wound healing and reduction of its recovery time is one of the most important issues in medicine. Wound is defined as disruption of anatomy and function of normal skin. This injury could be the result of physical elements such as surgical incision, hit or pressure cut of the skin and gunshot wound. Chemical or caustic burn is another category of wound causes that can be induced by acid or base contact irritation. Healing is a process of cellular and extracellular matrix interactions that occur in the damaged tissue. Wound healing consists of several stages including hemostasis, inflammatory phase, proliferative phase and new tissue formation which reconstructs by new collagen formation. Wounds are divided into acute and chronic types based on their healing time. Acute wounds have sudden onset and in normal individuals usually have healing process of less than 4 weeks without any residual side effects. In contrast, chronic wounds have gradual onset. Their inflammatory phase is prolonged and the healing process is stopped due to some background factors like diabetes, ischemia or local pressure. If the healing process lasts more than 4 weeks it will be classified as chronic wound. Despite major advances in the treatment of wounds, still finding effective modalities for healing wounds in the shortest possible time with the fewest side effects is a current challenge. In this review different phases of wound healing and clinical types of wound such as venous leg ulcer, diabetic foot ulcer and pressure ulcer are discussed. Also acute wound models (i.e burn wounds or incisional wound) and chronic wound models (such as venous leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcer, pressure ulcers or bedsore) in laboratory animals are presented. This summary can be considered as a preliminary step to facilitate designing of more targeted and applied research in this area.

Logging secondary damages on remained trees are one of the challenges in management of uneven-aged stands which have been less studied in the northern forests of Iran. In this research decay frequency and volume of bole trees after 15 years from wound occurrence were studied through systematic-random sample plots with 1000m2 plots in the Nav-e Asalem forests, Iran. The conditions of trees were registered in two types: safe and wounded, the wounds were registered in two types: open and decayed; and volume of decayed bole was calculated by Smalian formula. Results indicated that 16.1% of wounds were led to bole decay. Decay frequency and volume were estimated to 5.5 trees ha-1 and 1.7 m3ha-1, respectively, that includes 1.96% of total trees and 0.72% of total stand volume. Coefficients of decay frequency and volume on the base of frequency of logging primary damage (12.2%) were calculated 0.16 and 0.06, respectively. Decay frequency of wounded trees bole were related with tree species, wound location, diameter at breast height (DBH), situation of wounded tree in stand, and slope aspect. Decay frequency and volume in the trees of lime and oak were more than other tree species. Decay frequency was increased by decreasing wounds distance from ground. Decay frequency and volume in the high diameter wounded trees were more than low diameter wounded trees. The wounds on the trees in edge of skid trails were more decayed than the other wounds. Decay frequency of wounded trees on the northern aspect slopes were more than the southern aspect slopes. In general, minimizing of primary logging damages, reducing harvest intensity, increasing logging period, and harvesting bole-decayed trees in the next logging periods are suggested.

Introduction: Delay in wound healing is one of several complications of type 1 diabetes. It has been reported that the use of various herbal extracts such as Morus nigra increase the wound healing. Since,there are no studies on investigation of the effects of Morus nigra on wound healing in diabetics so this study was conducted to determine wound healing effects of Morus nigra in diabetic rats. Methods: In this experimental study, the fresh fruits were blended and pressed. Then, the extract was filtered and then was passed through the filter paper then it was dried in shade. Diabetes was induced by injection of single dose of streptozotocin (60 mg/kg). The circular wound (diameter 8 cm) was created on the back of each rat. The wounds were topically treated with 10 or 20 percent of concentration of the extract. Wounds in control group were treated with saline and normal group received no treatment. Wound areas were monitored on days 1, 6 and 11; the repaired tissues were removed for histological evaluations. Result: Daily and local applications of the extract displayed significant wound healing activity through the reducing wound area and acceleration of wound contraction. Histological findings showed that various indices of tissue repairment such as integrated epithelial, typical granulated and regular collagen layers were mor obvious in the treated wounds. Conclusion: Topical application of the Morus nigra extract can accelrate wound contraction and improve the histological indices inclue formation of epithelial and granulated layers and increase collagen density in the repaired tissue.

Background: Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) is the most common cause of skin and soft tissue infections. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of S. aureus isolated from skin and soft tissue and antibiotic susceptibility pattern among the patient hospitalized in Razi skin hospital (Tehran-Iran). Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on patients (n=400) with skin and soft tissue infections in Razi skin hospital. Sterilized swabs were used to collect the skin infection samples. S. aureus isolates were confirmed using biochemical tests (gram staining, catalase, coagulase, DNase test and manitol fermentation tests). Result: 51.3 %( 205 out of 400) of isolates were S. aureus. Ninety six (46.8%) of isolates were methicillin and penicillin-resistant S. aureus. All of the isolates showed sensitivity to vancomycin, linezolid. 98% of the isolates were susceptible to daptomycin. One-hundred sixteen (56.6%) isolates were multi- drug resistant. Conclusion: More than half of the skin and soft tissue infections were caused by S.aureus. More than 46 percent of the isolates were methicillin resistant. The highest resistance to penicillin was observed.

Background & Objective: Lichens are the result of the symbiosis of fungi and algae or a cyanobacterium. Various biological activities of some lichen and their components such as: antifungal, anti-bacterial, anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, antiprotozoal substances are known. In the present study, antifungal activity of methanolic extract of Protoparmeliopsis muralis against Aspergillus flavus is investigated on rats. Materials & Methods: 500 g of Protoparmeliopsis muralis was collected from KaneGonbad mountains in Ilam province, the methanol extract was prepared by soxhle. In order to determine the antifungal activity in in vivo conditions, a wound was created and infected with Aspergillus flavus. Having infected the wound, the researchers divided the rats into 4 subgroups: negative control group, treated with Kotrimoksazol, %5 ointment extract methanolic P. muralis, and with %10 ointment extract methanolic P. muralis. Treatment continued until complete healing of the wound. Finally, the percentage of wound healing was calculated. Results: The result of the present study demonstrated that methanolic extract of P. muralis decreased the area of wound in the treatment group compared to the control group. Conclusion: The antifungal and antioxidant activity of the extract of Protoparmeliopsis muralis accelerated the wound healing process.

This study was done to evaluate the effect of topical ointment produced from aqueous extract of grape seed (Vitis Vinifera) plus Eucerin on wound healing in diabetic rats. Methods: In this experimental study, 48 male Wistar rats were randomly allocated into control, first, second and third experimental groups. Animals in control group were received only buffer citrate, interaperitonally. Diabetes was induced by 55 mg/kg/bw of Streptozotocin in three experimental groups. Skin wound (2´3 cm2) was created in left side of the lumbar region in three experimental groups. Animals in experimental gourp 1 did not received any treatment. The wounds of animals in experimental group 2 were treated with topical ointment of Eucerin twice a day. The wounds of animals in experimental group 3 were treated with topical ointment of aqueous extract of grape seed plus Eucerin with a ratio of 3:1 for 21 days twice a day. Background and Objective: Arsenic accumulation in rice has become a major disaster in the recent decade. A number of studies indicated that rice is a major source of arsenic pollution in human diets. This study assessed the arsenic (As) accumulation in rice grain in Meydavood where rice is the main agricultural crop of the region. This research studied the probable presence of arsenic in the rice grains of Maydavood region in Khozestan province and evaluated the arsenic intake through daily rice consumption. Materials and Methods: Ten rice samples were taken from Meydavood farms during cropping time. Samples were analyzed for arsenic using ICP-MS. Results: Data were analyzed using SPSS statistical software and then compared with the World Health Organization standards. The mean concentrations of arsenic in rice samples were 0.079 ppm based on dry weight. The results showed that in 30% of the samples, arsenic concentration exceeded the WHO standards. Due to the high concentration of arsenic in rice samples, the arsenic intake by human was calculated using a regimen of safety and considering a consumption rate of 110 g of rice per day and an average body weight of 70 kg. Conclusion: The total daily intake of As (TDI-iAs) for adults (70 kg body weight and 110 g rice consumption) was in the range of WHO recommended provisional tolerable daily intake value. Since the source of arsenic in Meydavoud is a natural source, thus, comprehensive studies are recommended on its water resources. Additionally, a solution should be found to prevent probable health effects on the residents.

Background and Objective: Varicella zoster virus (VZV) can cause a moderate disease in children, but with high risk of serious disease or death in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) Vaccination from infection can be safe, immunogenic, and effective in children with leukemia. This study was done to evaluate the IgG and IgM antibodies against VZV in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Methods: The descriptive-analytic study was performed on 66 children who were on chemotherapy in Dr Shigh hospital in Mashhad, Iran during 2012. Patients were receivied VZV vaccine. The title negative or positive serum sample for IgG-anti-VZV avidity was determined by using a test kit before and after injection of vaccines VZV for considering the efficacy of vaccines on pediatric patients. Results: Title serum sample IgG were positive in 32.6% patients, these children have history of chicken pox disease and to be safe against of VZV. 78.3% of the patients were negative for IgG antibody and sensitive against of VZV. Conclusion: Children with ALL receiving chemotherapy are sensitive to chicken pox disease according to negative IgG titer against VZV.

Due to importance and value of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects on wound healing, and the presence of these activities in some medicinal plants, in this study, the healing effects of aqueous extract of Rhus coriaria fruit, was examined. Materials and Methods: After creating a full-thickness skin wound on the back of 45 male Sprague-Dawley rats, they were randomly divided into three groups: treatment, control or positive control. After 24 hours, the treatment group received 0.5 gram of the fruit extract, the positive control group treated with 2%mupirocin ointment and the control group received no treatment. Wound healing rates were calculated on days 0, 3, 5, 8, 10, 12 and 15 post-wounding and the wound tissues were harvested at 5, 10, and 15 days for histological and biochemical analysis. Myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity was used to determine the anti-oxidant and anti- inflamatory activity of the pklant extract. The results were statistically analysed using SPSS software. Background & Objective: The present study surveys the effects of propofol on cutaneous wound healing in rats. Materials & Methods: 36 adult female Strague-Dawely rats were divided into three groups randomly; in group one propofol (60 mg/kg) and ketamine (40 mg/kg) combination; in group two ketamine (50 mg/kg), and in group three propofol (100 mg/kg) was injected intraperitoneally. Following routine surgical preparation, 1.5×1.5 cm wounds were created on the back of the rats. Wound size was evaluated daily and then the wound area was calculated by Digimizer software. Following euthanasia on day 21 after wounding, 1×1 cm skin samples were collected for histopathological evaluations and hydroxyproline content. Results: Wound size and hydroxyproline content showed no significant difference in propofol group compared to ketamine and propofol-ketamine groups. Fibroblast content and vascularity revealed no significant difference between groups. Inflammatory cell infiltration in ketamine group, collagen deposition in ketamine-propofol groups, and epithelial regeneration in propofol group were significantly higher in comparison with others. Conclusion: In conclusion, single use of propofol has no adverse effect on cutaneous wound healing in rats compared to ketamine, but evaluation of its positive effects on wound healing necessitates more detailed studies.

Introduction and Aims In the event of damage to the skin, the epidermis of which goes to the disintegration of the body, is a wound that is common in diabetics. The purpose of this study was to evaluate effect of alcohol extract of curcumin on wound healing in diabetic male rats. Materials and Methods In this study, 48 male wistar rats were divided into 4 groups of 8 (control (healthy diabetes along with other groups, intraperitoneally as a citrate buffer), Sham (diabetic dose 55mg/kg Streptozotocine and without treatment) experimental 1 (treatment of diabetic eucerin), experimental 2 (treatment of diabetic and alcoholic extract of curcumin ointment). In an area of 3 cm2 dairy tested wounded on the left side of the spine created. The process of healing 14 and 21 days after wounding were examined macroscopically. Results The later wound healing was reported in streptozocin diabetic compared to the control group and wound healing in experimental groups treated with alcohol extract of curcumin was faster than control. Among the blistering (vesicant) chemical warfare agents (CWA), sulfur mustard is the most important since it is known as the “King of chemical warfare agents”. The use of sulfur mustard has caused serious damages in several organs, especially the eyes, skin, respiratory, central and peripheral nervous systems after short and long term exposure, incapacitating and even killing people and troops. In this review, chemical properties, mechanism of actions and their effects on each organ, clinical manifestations, diagnostic evaluation of the actions triage, and treatment of injuries have been described.

Objectives: Investigating the relationship between diversity, total number of mites and number of adult and immature mites with the type of culture were the main objective of this experiment. Materials and Methods: In order to determine the frequency and diversity of Oribatida mites, regular and random sampling of different soil horizons belonging to 21 habitats of Marand region of East Azerbaijan province was performed in the summer of 2014. Sampling was performed by digging soil profiles and sampling from different horizons. After extracting the mites from the soil samples, microscopic slides of them were prepared and identified. Then, the texture type of the studied soils was determined. Finally, after calculating the Shannon-Wiener diversity index, the relationship between diversity, total number of mites and number of adult and immature mites with the type of culture was investigated using MSTAT-C software. Results: 59 species belonging to 44 genera and 28 families were collected and identified, most of which were adults. Among them Epilohmania cylindrica cylindrica and Discoppia (Cylindrappia) cylindrica species have the highest relative abundance. The dominant mite D. (Cylindroppia) cylindrica had the highest percentage in wheat fields. 9 species were collected only from pastures, 11 species only from wheat fields, 4 species only from sunflower fields and 4 species only from gardens. The highest diversity indices were obtained in mixed garden 3, sunflower fields and pastures and the lowest diversity indices were obtained in wheat fields. The diversity and number of adult and immature mites did not show significant differences in different cultures and horizons. The total number of mites did not show a significant difference in different cultures, but different horizons showed a significant difference in the total number of mites at a probability level of 5%. The second horizon had the highest number of mites and the third horizon showed a smaller number. The highest variability was observed in the second horizon and the lowest variability was observed in the third horizon. Among the cultures, sunflower had the highest number of mites. The interaction effect of cultivation and horizon was not significant in any of traits. The highest total number of mites was observed in the second horizon with clay loam texture in which the number of adult mites was more than immature mites. The greatest variability was observed in the first horizon with sandy clay loam texture. Conclusion: Based on the index of species diversity and frequency of mites obtained, it can be concluded that the types of crops and localities studied are on the same level in terms of contamination or non-contamination with chemicals and heavy metals. The difference in the frequency and variety of oribatid mites in different horizons is due to the sensitivity of these mites to moisture. Moisture in the upper soil horizon at the time of sampling has led to the migration of these mites to the second horizon with higher moisture content.

Background: The relationship between skin, neuron system and mental status is complicated. Pemphigus is severe and painful autoimmune skin disorder that occurs in 0.5-1 person in 100000. Regarding the critical role of mental status in autoimmune diseases such as pemphigus, the aim of this research was to investigating psychiatric comorbidity in patient with pemphigus. Methods: This research was a descriptive survey study. The society of this research included the patients with pemphigus referred to Razi Dermatology University Hospital in Tehran. Participants were 200 persons who were selected through available sampling. Finally, 198 persons filled out the demographic questionnaire and symptom checklist-90 (SCL-90). Results: This research showed that the prevalence of psychiatric disorders in this sample was 62.62%. 28.78% (57 persons) of patients were male and 33.84% (67 persons) were female. In both genders the symptoms of paranoia were the most prevalent disorders (45% in female and 60% in male) and phobia was the least prevalent in our sample (8.2% in female and 24% in male). The upper grade in education, the less prevalent disorders. 81.45% of participants with mental disorders were married and 18.55% of them were single. Of patients only 26.32% had visited the psychiatrist or psychologist and 95.15% of them had used medications. This research also showed that there was a significant difference between two genders. Men showed higher rate of prevalence in psychiatric symptoms than women. Conclusion: The results showed that psychiatric disorders in patients with pemphigus are high compared to general population. This research congruent with other researches showed that higher age, lower grade of education and marriage related to worse prognosis in psychological status in patient with pemphigus. Thus dermatologists must recognize and manage these psychiatric comorbidities to treat patients effectively and to improve the quality of life in patients with autoimmune diseases such as pemphigus.&nbsp

Introduction: Preterm birth (PTB) is a major determinant of neonatal mortality and morbidity and has long-term adverse consequences for health. The aim of the study was to determine the rate of PTB, and identify factors associated with it. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 4419 pregnant women in Tehran province (Iran) from 6-21 July 2015. Data were collected by a researcher-made questionnaire through interview with mothers and review of their medical records. To identify factor associated with CS, two-level logistic regression model was used. Results: The PTB rate was 5.6% in this study. In univariate analysis, mother's age, preeclampsia, Caesarian section, multiple pregnancies, and use of ART were significant factors of PTB. Moreover, multivariate analysis has shown a significant relationship between PTB and preeclampsia, multiple pregnancies and use of AR. In multivariate analysis, mother’s age had a positive impact on PTB, but this relationship was not statistically significant (p=0.051). The intra-class correlation (ICC) between hospital is 0.208 indicating approximately 21% of the total variation in the response variable accounted for by the hospital. Conclusion: According to the results, factors such as preeclampsia, multiple pregnancies and use of ART were associated with PTB. Therefore, it seems that these factors can be effective in determining the risk in neonates and providing factors in reducing mortality
