Background and Objective: Sirtuin1 is one of the important indicators involved in metabolic control, obesity prevention, and homeostasis control. This study aimed to investigate the effect of combined exercises and curcumin consumption on metabolic indices and serum levels of Sirtuin1 in men with metabolic syndrome. Materials and Methods: The present study was conducted as a clinical trial in men with metabolic syndrome in three intervention groups and one control group. The people in the intervention group underwent an exercise program for 8 weeks and three sessions a week, the supplement group took 3 capsules of 500 mg daily. Blood factors were measured before and after the last training session. Data were analyzed by paired t-test, analysis of variance and covariance. Results: A significant difference was observed in the intra-group changes of the studied variables (Sirtuin1, HDL, LDL, TG, FBS, and TC) in all three intervention groups (P≥0.05). Background and Aim: High blood pressure and increased lipid profile are risk factors for cardiovascular diseases. To improve cardiovascular health, lifestyle changes should be considered as a guide to reduce people’s inactivity and modify healthy eating patterns. Spirulina is a green alga and has been considered as a food supplement for the treatment of various diseases. This study was conducted with the aim of determining the effect of spirulina supplement and eight weeks of combined exercises on blood pressure and lipid profile in women with high blood pressure. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted as a clinical trial in 40 women with high blood pressure (50-60 years old). People were included in the study in 4 intervention and control groups. The data were collected during two stages of pre-test and post-test in terms of changes in blood pressure and lipid profile. The supplement intervention group consumed 4.2 grams of spirulina supplement daily and had an exercise intervention of 8 weeks of combined aerobic and resistance exercises. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS software (version 23), one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey’s post hoc test at level 0.05. Background and Objective: Vitamin D deficiency in humans is a major health problem worldwide. This study aimed to investigate the effect of vitamin D supplementation in reducing mortality and complications after intertrochanteric fracture of the hip joint. Materials and Methods: In this clinical trial, 100 patients over 60 years of age with hip fractures and serum levels of vitamin D less than 20 ng/ml referring to Besat Hospital in Hamadan, Iran, were selected and randomly assigned to one of the intervention or control groups. The intervention group was given vitamin D in a vial of 600,000 units IM. Data were analyzed using SPSS software (version 23). Results: The mean age of the patients in the intervention and control groups were 78.04±8.50 and 79.40±7.30 years, respectively (P=0.430). Regarding gender, 54% of the patients in the intervention group and 60% in the control group were men. Mean serum levels of vitamin D were 15.48±4.03 and 14.23±3.28 ng/ml, respectively. The frequencies of mortality within one year after surgery were 8% and 18% (P=0.137), and the frequencies of complications were 4% and 14% (P=0.160). Conclusion: The injection of vitamin D supplement in the form of a single dose of 600,000 muscle units in patients over 60 years of age with vitamin D deficiency and intertrochanteric fracture of the hip joint reduced one-year mortality and complications. However, this reduction was not significant compared to the control group.

According to the World Health Organization, 360 million people worldwide have disabling hearing loss. Of these, 32 million people are hard hearing or deaf under the age of 15. According to the studies, many hearing defects could be avoided through prevention, early detection, and proper management. Studies show that the improper use of music players harms hearing. So that, the threshold of damage to Cochlear hair cells is reduced in people who listen to music at least for a year for > 1 h/day, at > 50% of the maximum volume setting. However, noise-induced hearing loss has been increasing among young people and adolescents who are exposed to noise from recreational situations and music playback devices. This may be due to a lack of awareness or misconceptions about the effects of noise exposure. Therefore, it seems necessary to create new approaches that aim to maintain and improve ear and hearing health, prevent ear diseases and manage them.

Background and purpose: Increased production of free radicals occurs due to intense and unconventional physical activity. The present study aimed at evaluating the effect of six weeks of high intensity interval training and Matcha green tea on some cellular oxidants (MDA) and glutathione peroxidase (GPX) in women. Materials and methods: A quasi-experimental applied research was performed in 48 untrained women aged 25-35 years in Tehran, Iran. They were randomly divided into four groups, including supplement (n=12), exercise (n=12), supplement + exercise (n=12), and placebo (n=12). High intensity interval training was performed for six weeks at 85% - 95% maximum heart rate. The supplement groups consumed two capsules of Matcha tea (500 mg) orally daily. MDA and GPX measurements were done using 5mL of blood sampling from the brachial vein at pre-test and post-test stages. Data analysis was carried out in SPSS V23. Results: In current study, high intensity interval training had no significant effect on MDA and GPX indices in inactive women (P>0.05). But, consumption of Matcha tea alone and with exercise showed significant effects on reducing MDA and increasing GPX in women (P< 0.05). Conclusion: It seems that consuming Matcha green tea alongside high intensity interval training in short term can have effects on oxidative stress and antioxidant capacity.

Background and Objective: Balance disorder is one of the most common problems in the elderly, leading to falls and serious injuries. One of the most important issues in the health of the elderly is balance and its related components. Therefore, the present study aimed to assess balance function tests, the relationship between age and anthropometric index, and perform equilibrium tests using structural equation modeling. Materials and Methods: A total of 136 elderly men and women living in a retirement home in Hamadan were included in this cross-sectional study. Balance function tests included finger-to-nose test, maintaining balance on one foot, standing up and walking tests, and heel-toe walking tests. Data were analyzed using an independent t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and structural equation model with 95% confidence using SPSS (version 23) and EQS (version 6.1) software. Results: The mean (standard deviation) age of the participants in this study was 66.05±2.83 and out of 136 patients, 77 (56.62%) cases were female. There was a significant difference between the mean scores of men and women in balance performance tests. In the Finger-to-nose test, women with the dominant and non-dominant hand performed the test in less time, and in other tests, the men performed faster. The intra-class correlation (ICC) coefficient obtained in all tests showed high repeatability of these tests. The coefficients obtained from the structural equation model showed that for every one year increase in age, the motor index and the anthropometric index increased and decreased significantly by 0.68 and 0.60 units, respectively. There was a decrease of 0.06 units in the mean of equilibrium performance tests. The model of fitted structural equations was confirmed based on the fitted goodness index (χ2 was not significant total, (0.095-0.077) 0.089: RMSEA, 0.918CFI: and GFI: 0.908). Conclusion: Age and gender were effective on balance function tests and anthropometric indices. The mean motor index and anthropometric index increased and decreased significantly for every one year increase in age. Furthermore, among the balance performance tests, the most difficult test was related to standing on one leg.

Introduction: The widespread prevalence of Coronavirus (COVID-19) around the world has raised concerns about physical activity and exercise. Patients with COVID-19 are 22% percent more likely to have heart damage than other people with infectious diseases. Due to the cardiovascular complications seen in patients, there are limitations for athletes due to the severity of the disease. Despite doubts about the outcomes of COVID 19 disease, there is a lot of insist on athletes to continue sports matches, including football, due to economic and competitive factor. The main aim of this study was to explain about the time when athletes with Covid-19 and cardiovascular approach return to sports activities.

Introduction: Musculoskeletal disorders are among the main occupational and work-related diseases with different impacts on general health status of employees. Present study was performed for assessment of association between general health and musculoskeletal disorders among beekeepers of Boroujen. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, beekeepers were selected by census, in 2017. Nordic musculoskeletal questionnaire and general health questionnaire (GHQ28) were used to collect data. Then, the obtained data were analyzed using SPSS- software. Results: Mean of Ggeneral health score was (51.25±12.92) which was suspected to have disorders, and somatic, depression, social and anxiety indices were 12.4± 3.62, 11.43± 4.08, 14.05± 2.63 and 12.55± 4.15, respectively. Also, the most frequent musculoskeletal symptom, during the past 7 days, during the past 12 months, the deterrence of work in the past year was low back pain and knee pain. Although mean of general health score in beekeepers was poorer than normal. No significant correlations were found between general health and musculoskeletal disorder (p-value>0.05). Age, BMI, work experience were risk factor for musculoskeletal disorder. Conclusion: Findings of our study showed that beekeepers were suspected to have general health disorders and the most frequent musculoskeletal disorder was low back pain and knee pain.
