In order to evaluate the in situ ruminal degradability of different supplements based on native forages and adapted to the Amazonian piedmont, three sheep with ruminal cannula were used. The evaluated treatments were: T1Control, T2 and T3 (0.5 kg concentrate + supplement with 20 and 40 % of Trichantera gigantea inclusion, respectively), T4 and T5 (0.5 kg concentrate + supplement with 20 and 40 % de Piptocoma discolor inclusion) and T6 and T7 (0.5 kg concentrate + supplement with 20 and 40 % Hibiscus rosa-sinensis inclusion). Analysis of variance according to completely random design with factorial arrangement (3x2) was carried out. The treatments with 20 % of H. rosa-sinensis inclusion reached an in situ ruminal degradability of DM and OM at 72 incubation hours higher than 84.65 and 72.79 %, respectively. The lower ruminal degradability of DM and OM at 72 incubation hours was for the treatment with T. gigantea at 40 %, followed by the treatment with P. discolors at 40 %. The treatments with H. rosa-sinensis at 20 % and T. gigantea at 20 % showed the highest effective degradation for DM and OM, respectively. The in situ degradability of DM, OM, NDF and ADF showed the highest values in the H. rosa-sinensis and P. discolor species, without differences between them, respect to T. gigantea. The inclusion of 20 % of forages in the supplement is a viable option from the nutritional supply point of view in supplementation programs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objetive. In the present study a completely randomized 3×3 factorial design was used to analyze the effects of different levels of L-Carnitine, lysine(Lys) and methionine (Met) on the blood concentrations of energy, protein and lipid metabolites of male broiler chickens. Materials and methods. A total of 270 newly hatched male broiler chickens (Ross 308) were randomly assigned to 9 groups (ten broilers per replicate and three replicates per treatment). The control group was fed a basal diet, whereas the treatment groups were fed basal diets supplemented with L-Carnitine (0 mg/kg, 75 mg/kg and 150 mg/kg) and lysine-methionine (0, 15 and 30%) for 42 days. On day 42, one bird was randomly chosen per replication, a blood sample was taken and the blood concentrations of glucose (GLU), uric acid (UAc), triglyceride (TG), VLDL, HDL, LDL, total protein (TP), albumin (Alb) and total cholesterol (TC) were analyzed. Results. Dietary L-carnitine supplementation had a significant effect (p<0.05) on uric acid (UAc), HDL, LDL, and total cholesterol (TC). The birds feed L-carnitine plus Lys and Met presented the highest plasmatic UAc level and the lowest plasmatic TC and LDL level. Moreover, L-carnitine significantly reduced total cholesterol (TC) when compared with both the control group and the birds feed Lys and Met without L-carnitine. Conclusions. A diet with 150 mg/kg L-carnitine plus 15% Lys and Met seems to be enough to sustain low plasmatic TC, LDL and HDL concentrations on male broiler. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: Characterize organoleptic, nutritional, microbiological and in vitro digestibility of food waste silage collected in a restaurant of a technical and technological studies center with harvest by-products. Metodoligy: It has been make organoleptic analysis, microbiologic, proximal composition, in vitro digestibility of silages with different levels of inclusion of food waste. Results: It is evidenced characteristics of smell, color and texture optimal so as to palatability, favorable nutritional values for 30, 35 and 40% inclusion of waste, low protein levels, but with hight energy levels superior to corn, sorghum and soybeans. The dry mater in vitro digestibility (DIVMS) was better for 35% inclusión. Moreover, In addition, the UFC / g colony forming units for 21th day was 1 x101 (Escherichia coli), that conforms to the standards for animal feed. Conclusions: to use silages with 35% inclusion of food waste may be one important tool of supplementation for swine feeding. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
