Objectives: to carry out the cross-cultural adaptation of The Postpartum Childcare Stress Checklist scale to be used in Brazil. Methods: the cross-cultural adaptation process followed internationally defined guidelines: double translation, synthesis and back-translation, analysis by a committee of experts, proposal for a pre-final and pre-test version, analysis of the psychometrics properties and generation of the final version. The reliability and validity of the final version were analyzed through a cross-sectional epidemiological study involving 190 women in the postpartum period. Cronbach's a indicator for reliability analysis and exploratory factor analysis with main component extraction were estimated for validity analysis. Results: a-Cronbach's was 0.894. The tested Brazilian version proved to be one-dimensional and the factor analysis pointed to four factors that were very closely distributed and explained 57.8% of the variance. All items of the original instrument were maintained in the proposed final version. Conclusions: the proposed Brazilian version proved to be valid and reliable for application in Brazilian populations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Crisis, value, and hope are three concepts whose intersection and mutual constitution open the door for a rethinking of the nature of economic life away from abstract models divorced from the everyday realities of ordinary people, the inadequacies of which the current world economic crisis has exposed in particularly dramatic fashion. This rethinking seeks to bring to center stage the complex ways in which people attempt to make life worth living for themselves and for future generations, involving not only waged labor but also structures of provisioning, investments in social relations, relations of trust and care, and a multitude of other forms of social action that mainstream economic models generally consider trivial, marginal, and often counterproductive. A holistic understanding of how people organize their economic lives is attentive to both the temporality of value and the relationship between different scales of value. It is attentive to the spatial configuration of economic life in many societies in which the future has become synonymous with geographical mobility. The concept of negative cognitive triad refers to the dysfunctional view that the individual owns about himself (self), others and the future. The purpose of this study was to investigate the factor structure and psychometric properties of the Cognitive Triad Inventory (ITC). Of the 404 participants aged between of 17 and 50 years old (average = 25,14; SD = 8,53 years), 280 were women (69,3%). Confirmatory factor analysis were performed using as reference the four models found in literature. By comparing the adjustment index, the six factor solution were the most appropriate, which contained the original negative cognitive triad, associated with other positive views of the self, others and the future. Acceptable internal consistency index (0,61 < α > 0,75), besides significant correlations between the ITC factors and the sex and age of participants. The results point to the adequacy of the psychometric properties of ITC in this sample. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To identify scales that can establish a quantitative assessment of delirium symptoms in critically ill patients through a systematic review. Methods: Studies that evaluated delirium stratification scales in patients hospitalized in intensive care units were selected in a search performed in the MedLine database. Validation studies of these scales and their target patient populations were analyzed, and we identified the examiner and the signs and symptoms evaluated. In addition, the duration of the application and the sensitivity and specificity of each scale were assessed. Results: Six scales were identified: the Delirium Detection Score, the Cognitive Test of Delirium, the Memorial Delirium Assessment Scale, the Intensive Care Delirium Screening Checklist, The Neelon and Champagne Confusion Scale and the Delirium Rating Scale-Revised-98. Conclusion: The scales identified allow the stratification and monitoring of critically ill patients with delirium. Among the six scales, the most studied and best suited for use in the intensive care units was the Intensive Care Delirium Screening Checklist. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
