Objective: to report the trajectory of an educational technology production on newborn care for first-time parents in the format of a mobile application. Method: this is an experience report from January to October 2019, carried out at the Laboratory of Educational Technologies of a state public university in northern Brazil. Results: an integrative literature review was carried out, obtaining eight articles and the corpus was processed in the IRAMUTEQ software, which generated five classes. Based on the results of the integrative review, the application production was developed, meeting the functionality, usability, reliability, efficiency, maintainability and portability requirements. Conclusion: the experience of producing an educational technology based on scientific evidence and on a systems model, in the format of a mobile application, will provide the target audience of parents with access to updated and scientific content about safe care for newborns. As they are asymptomatic or have a nonspecific, anatomical variations of the ribs are usually detected as incidental findings on imaging studies. They may be isolated changes or can be related to anomalies or clinical syndromes. Such variations are easily overlooked on conventional radiography and computed tomography if they are not actively investigated, mainly because most indications for a chest X-ray studies aim to evaluate the lung parenchyma and mediastinal structures. The objective of this pictorial essay was to use multislice computed tomography images to illustrate the imaging aspects of the main anatomical variations and congenital anomalies of the ribs. Big data applications have been remodeling several business models and provoking strong radical transformations in supply chain management (SCM). Supported by the literature on big data, supply chain management, and the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT), this study aims to evaluate the variables that influence the intention of Brazilian SCM professionals to adopt big data. To this end, we adapted and validated a previously developed UTAUT model. A survey of 152 supply chain respondents revealed that facilitating conditions (e.g., IT infrastructure) have a high influence on their intention to adopt big data. However, social influence and performance expectancy showed no significant effect. This study contributes to the practical field, offering valuable insights for decision-makers considering big data projects. Background: Alcohol is an easily accessible legal drug, widely used, and considered a public health problem worldwide. Therefore, there is a growing concern with this consumption among employees of educational institutions. Objective: To identify the pattern of consumption of alcohol among employees of a public university. Methodology: A cross-sectional study. Fifty-three online questionnaires were applied to administrative technicians and lecturers of a public university in northern Brazil, evaluated through the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT). The chi-squared test and Fisher's exact test were used, with a p-value of ≤ 0.05 to test the level of significance of the variables and the AUDIT score. Results: Among the participants, 68% have a low-risk use or do not consume alcohol, 24% present a risky use, 2% harmful consumption, and 6% probable dependence. Only the children variable showed a statistical association with the problematic use of alcohol. Conclusion: The results suggest a problematic consumption of alcohol in a significant portion of the sample studied, resulting in the need for the implementation of brief interventions in the population studied. Introduction: Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease caused by Treponema pallidum, and results in considerable morbidity and mortality. Congenital syphilis can lead to miscarriage, prematurity, bone deformities, hearing loss and other important clinical changes. Objective: To analyze prenatal quality and clinical conditions of newborns exposed to syphilis in a public maternity hospital in Rio Branco-Acre. Method: This is a cross-sectional study that included 92 mothers diagnosed with syphilis during pregnancy, attended from July to December 2017. Two pregnant women had fetal death, and the final sample consisted of 90 newborns exposed to syphilis. An interview with the postpartum woman was used, analysis of the pregnant woman's card and search for information from the pregnant woman's records and newborns. It was considered confirmed case of syphilis in pregnant woman: a) All pregnant women who presented non-treponemal reagent test with any titration and reagent treponemal test performed during prenatal care; b) Pregnant woman with reagent treponemal test and nonreactive or unreacted nontreponemal test, without previous treatment record. To characterize congenital syphilis we considered: a) newborn whose mother was not diagnosed with syphilis during pregnancy and who presented a nontreponemal test reactive with any titration at the time of delivery; b) child whose mother was not diagnosed with syphilis during pregnancy and had a non-treponemal test reagent at the time of delivery; c) newborns whose mother presented a reactive treponemal test and a nonreactive non-treponemal test at the moment of delivery, without previous treatment record. Results: Most newborns were born in normal delivery (65.5%), 17.8% had acute fetal distress and 11.2% required resuscitation maneuvers. Prematurity occurred in 10% of births and 12.2% of them were small for gestational age. Complete prenatal care was performed by 29.5% of the mothers, following the recommendations of the Ministry of Health of seven visits to the Health Unit and or Health Professional. From the 90 pregnant women, 79 had a reactive treponemal test when admitted to the maternity ward. 29.3% of them performed the treatment properly. In the analysis about the treatment of the sexual partner, it was reported that 58% did not adhere to syphilis treatment. Conclusion: The prenatal quality of pregnant women with syphilis was lower than that recommended by the Brazilian Ministry of Health, although there are few cases of syphilis as the primary outcome in newborns with childbirth with mothers diagnosed with syphilis.
