Objective Patient-centered care is the cornerstone of the healthcare system’s priorities. Attaining this goal necessitates a comprehensive understanding of patients’ encounters within the healthcare system to identify areas for quality improvement. To achieve this, healthcare providers and regulators require dependable, cost-effective, and user-friendly tools to assess and report the quality of patients’ healthcare experiences as part of ongoing service quality audits. The Waterloo Wilfrid Laurier University rehabilitation patient experience instrument (WatLX) is a valid and reliable instrument for measuring patients’ experiences in outpatient rehabilitation services. Accordingly, this study explores the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the WatLX in Persian-speaking people receiving outpatient rehabilitation services. Materials & Methods In this descriptive methodological study, we enrolled 115 adults aged 18 and above, possessing a suitable cognitive level, who had undergone at least one program of musculoskeletal, neurological, stroke, speech, and language rehabilitation services on an outpatient basis. The research targeted 10 centers and clinics specializing in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy, strategically selected across five geographical areas of Tehran (North, South, East, West, and Center) in the year 2023, utilizing an available sampling method. The participants were asked to complete the following three questionnaires: WatLX, abbreviated mental test, and the Medrisk instrument for measuring patient satisfaction with physical therapy care. Additionally, participants’ background information was collected. The Persian-translated questionnaire was examined for face and content validity using the Lavashe method. The convergent validity was established through comparison with the Medrisk questionnaire. The Cronbach α value was computed to evaluate the internal consistency, while the test re-test reliability involved 39 subjects completing the questionnaire again 15 days after the initial test, with calculating the intraclass correlation coefficient. Data analysis was performed using the SPSS software, version 23. Results The questionnaire underwent rigorous scrutiny for content validity by experts in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, rehabilitation management, and statistics. The results revealed strong internal consistency (Cronbach α=0.802), high test re-test reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient=0.974), and satisfactory convergent validity, demonstrated by the significant Spearman correlation coefficient of 0.503 with the Medrisk questionnaire. Conclusion The Persian version of the WatLX tool exhibits commendable psychometric properties, making it a reliable instrument for assessing the experiences of Persian-speaking Iranian patients in outpatient rehabilitation services. Objective: To produce and validate a digital booklet on the use of masks in the COVID-19 pandemic context. Method: An online methodological study was conducted, comprising the following steps: search for themes and theoretical study, creation of the digital booklet, expert validation, adjustments following expert validation, validation by the target audience (general population), adjustments following validation by the target audience, and publication. Validation was based on a satisfactory Content Validity Index (CVI) of ≥0.70. Results: The booklet "Safe Use of Masks: How to Protect Myself and Others" was produced and validated by 20 specialists and 19 target audience members, with an overall average CVI of 0.99. The content and appearance were validated with indices ranging between 0.94 and 1.00. Conclusion: The booklet is valid and appropriate, assessed as a motivating educational technology that is easily understandable regarding mask use, contributing to increasing the population's knowledge in the pandemic context. 8. Developing a Serial Search Task to Evaluate Procedural Memory and Investigating the Relationship Between Procedural Memory and Grammar in Farsi-speaking Children: A Preliminary Study.

Objective Procedural memory is a key component of long-term memory that can be assessed in different modalities, such as verbal and motor. Learning through procedural memory occurs in three stages: initial learning, consolidation, and retention. Several tasks evaluate procedural memory, but none have concurrently studied procedural learning in various modalities and learning stages. Besides, according to the declarative-procedural model, there may be an association between the performance of individuals in procedural learning and their state of the grammar of a language. Therefore, this study aimed to design a Serial Search Task (SST) for the simultaneous evaluation of procedural memory in motor and verbal modalities during three stages of learning and determine its reliability. Moreover, the relationship between procedural memory and grammar skills was examined. Materials & Methods This study is methodological research in the first stage and descriptive analytics in the second stage. First, based on the literature review and the opinions of three speech-language pathologists, some words with appropriate psycholinguistic features were chosen from the Persian picture naming set. Then, corresponding pictures were determined. The task was designed using Java programming language. The face validity of the task was evaluated, then after revisions, the reliability was determined. Face validity was assessed in 10 normal children, and the test-retest reliability was evaluated in 15 normal children aged 7-9 years; all of them were chosen using the convenience sampling method. In the second stage, to assess the relationship between grammatical skills and the SST, 20 normal children aged 7-9 years were selected by a mixed sampling method. Every child had exposed to a verbal modality in three stages: initial learning, consolidation (24 hours later), and retention (one week later). Then the same stages were performed in the motor modality. Each child's language skills were determined using the test of language development-primary (TOLD-P3), and the relationship between the two skills was determined. Statistical methods included the Pearson and Spearman correlation coefficients and repeated measures analysis of variance. Results The correlation values between two performances in the initial learning stage for the reaction time variable in verbal (r=0.84, P<0.001) and motor (r=0.80, P˂0.001) modalities and the variable of response accuracy in verbal (r=0.81, P=0.011) and motor (r=0.77, P=0.026) modalities were obtained. In the consolidation and retention stages, the correlation values for the reaction time variable in verbal (r=0.737, P=0.002) and motor (r=0.743, P=0.001) modalities and the variable of response accuracy in verbal (r=0.624, P=0.013) and motor (r=0.916, P<0.001) modalities were obtained. The relationship between grammar and procedural learning in the verbal modality was significant in the consolidation stage (P=0.045, CI:0.016-0.797, r=0.491). Conclusion SST is a reliable task to assess different stages of procedural memory in both verbal and motor modalities. Therefore, this task can be used to evaluate procedural memory in normal children aged 7-9 years. The current study's findings confirmed the predictions made by the declarative-procedural model during the consolidation stage in the verbal modality. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective Stuttering is not just a speech disorder. It can cause negative feelings and emotions in a person especially in children. Therefore, we need a standard tool to identify, study and measure these negative effects and then try to eliminate or reduce them. Considering the increased clinical and research needs for a valid and reliable tool to assess the negative effect of stuttering in Iran, this study aims to design and validate a questionnaire (parents form) for assessment of social/emotional/behavioral disorders in preschool children with stuttering. Materials & Methods This is a methodological study that was conducted in three steps in spring and summer of 2018 in Isfahan, Iran. Participants included 60 parents of preschool children with stuttering aged 3 to 5 years and 11 months (36 boys and 24 girls), who had referred to speech therapy clinics in Isfahan. In the first stage, 10 parents received in-depth and open-ended interviews to collect information about social, emotional and behavioral disorders in children with stuttering. Afterwards, based on these information and the opinions of experts in psychology and speech therapy, the main constructs of the questionnaire were identified: "uncompromising/hyperactive behavior", "social skills", "communication skills", "aggression", "fear", and "separation anxiety". In the second stage, in order to determine the face validity, 10 experts were interviewed face to face. In order to determine the content validity, 15 other experts were asked to examine each item according. Content validity was determined by calculating the content validity ratio (CVR), content validity index (CVI), and total content validity (Lawshe method). Confirmatory factor analysis was used to examine the construct validity. In the last step, the internal consistency was determined by calculating Cronbach's alpha coefficient, and the relaibility was determined by test-retest method and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Results The initial version consisted of 61 items and 6 subscales. According to the experts, by merging items with overlapping concepts, the number of items were reduced to 40. In the face validity assessment stage, items were examined based on difficulty, relevance, and ambiguity. The phrases were read several times, and the opinions of experts were applied. Then, it was reviewed by two experts in Persian literature and finally was approved. The CVR and CVI vaues were obtained 0.76 and 0.90, respectively. For its internal consistency, the Cronbach's alpha coefficient was obtained 0.89 and ICC was more than 0.7 and significant (P<0.001). For the construct validity assessed in AMOS software, the calculated X2 was 631.25. The low number of X2 indicated a good fit of the model (P<0.000). Conclusion The designed questionnaire has acceptable validity and reliability and can be used as a reliable and valid tool for assessing social/emotional/behavioral disorders in Iranian preschool children with stuttering. 12. Designing a Moral Distress Questionnaire in Occupational Therapists and Evaluating Its Face and Content Validities.

Objective: Moral distress may occur when people are unable to follow professional standards and ethical values in their profession. It is a significant issue in the healthcare profession and has negative consequences. In addition, there is a concern that it may adversely affect clinical performance and, in some cases, patient outcomes. Based on the evidence, occupational therapists experience moral distress, Therefore, there is a need for a tool that enables researchers to identify the extent of moral distress in each individual and to measure the effectiveness of strategies designed to reduce distress and prevent employee burnout. The aim of this study was to develop and evaluate the face and content validity of the Moral Distress Questionnaire in occupational therapists. Materials & Methods: This psychometric study was performed in two stages. The first stage involved preparing a pool of questionnaire items, and the second stage examined the face and content validity of the questionnaire. First, texts and related studies were reviewed to extract the questionnaire items. Searching various databases was done to find any conditions that create moral distress in occupational therapy. Three qualitative studies conducted in the field of ethical issues of occupational therapists in the field of psychiatry, children and adults were fully studied. The codes extracted from these studies and the quotations of the interviewees were read. Then the questionnaire items were extracted from the codes, sentences and phrases of the studies. The items were read several times and edited in terms of content clarity, grammar and concept comprehension, and duplicate topics were removed. After preparing the pool of items for the preliminary questionnaire, the scientific stages of face and content validity of the questionnaire were completed. The face validity of the questionnaire was measured qualitatively and quantitatively by 30 occupational therapists who were selected by available sampling from clinics, hospitals and public and private centers. Inclusion criteria were at least one year of work experience in various fields of occupational therapy. Quantitative face validity was performed by determining the impact score of the item. In order to perform qualitative content validity, experts in the field of teaching ethics in occupational therapy and familiar with tool development were invited to review the questionnaire and exchange views in a face-to-face meeting. Seven people participated in the panel of experts. Participants were told that the tool would be an Evaluative tool designed to assess the extent of moral distress among occupational therapists working in clinical settings. After carefully studying the tool, they were asked to consider and comment on the four criteria of clarity, simplicity, transparency, and relevance of items to moral distress. To assess the quantitative content validity of the questionnaire, 20 occupational therapists with doctoral degrees were asked to complete the relevant forms for assessing Content Validity Ratio (CVR) and Content Validity Index (CVI). Results: After reviewing the texts and related studies and analyzing the findings and concepts, a preliminary questionnaire with 50 items was extracted. The items of the questionnaire reached 22 items after completing qualitative and quantitative face and content validity. The impact score of the item was between 2.85 to 4.83. The CVR was in the acceptable range of 0.5 to 1 with an average of 0.7. The CVI of the questionnaire was 0.93. Conclusion: The Moral Distress Questionnaire in Occupational Therapists with 22 items on a four-point scoring scale has appropriate content validity and can be used to measure moral distress in occupational therapists after completing the validity and reliability steps. Aim: Design and validate two scales of sexual communication with the partner in men who have sex with men, which together evaluate five components of communication, content, extension, style, time and context. Methodology: It was divided into two phases, the first to develop the items that make up each scale, and the second to obtain their psychometric properties. 200 men participated in the first phase and 1,190 men participated in the second phase, in both cases with an active sexual life, single and who reported having sex with men, half of them diagnosed with hiv and whose route of infection was through sexual contact. The strategy of modified natural semantic networks was applied to obtain the main ones defined for the stimuli: sexual themes and sexual communication with the partner, based on the results, the items were designed to form two scales. In both phases, the application was carried out in a clinic specialized in the care of people with hiv. Results: The results of the validation show evidence of construct validity (efa and cfa) and concurrent validity, as well as good internal consistency indexes (α, ω) in each scale showing adequate psychometric properties. Conclusions: It is necessary to evaluate communication considering all its components, for which culturally valid instruments such as the scales presented in this research are required. Introduction Hardy personality construct as proposed by Kobasa is defined by three dimensions: engagement, control, and challenge. It was Originally designed to assess Hardy personality (HPA) in work environment. HPA has been accepted and validated in different Latin American countries, nonetheless, in Mexico, its psychometric properties haven't been validated. Aim: To analyze psychometric properties of HPA in Mexican adults. Methodology: A non-randomized sample of 357 adults participated and reported being healthy. HPA was adapted to face ordinary life. Results: Confirmatory factor analysis allowed to estimate three models, the one that showed better adjustment of fit was the trifactorial (engagement, control, and challenge) with a second-order factor (hardy personality), internal consistency of HPA was acceptable and construct validity indicated positive correlations in HPA dimensions with life satisfaction, optimism, and general efficacy, and negative correlations with axiety and social disfunction. Conclusions: Results indicated that HPA has satisfactory psychometric properties and that can be used to assess hardy personality (engagement, control, and challenge) in Mexican adults. Considering the importance of reading strategies for the reading comprehension process, an instrument was developed to examine the use of reading prediction by elementary school students. The purpose of this study is to present the process performed to validate the content and reliability of this reading prediction task usage applied to 6th grade elementary school students. For content validation, there was a panel of judges that evaluated the instrument for conceptual relevance, clarity, language adequacy, and presentation. Content validity was also verified through the analysis of the students' answers. For the reliability analysis, the internal consistency of the items was verified. The results indicated that there was content validity through the analysis of the judges and the students' answers. The reliability of the task was also established using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. This study presents the performance of 4th and 6th grade students in the Task of Spelling Words and Pseudowords (TEPP). It was analyzed validity evidence based on the relationship with criteria (correlation with age, and comparison of groups by year of schooling and gender), as well as convergent validity through correlations among TEPP with the Balanced Dictation instrument and the Child Neuropsychological Assessment Instrument NEUPSILIN-Inf. In addition, it is presented normative data for students of 4th and 6th grades of Elementary School. It included 181 students from public schools, being 55.8% girls, with aged between 9 and 12 years old. Higher scores were identified for older and more educated students; in addition higher scores were found for girls in some TEPP measures, reinforcing the criterion validity of the instrument. The TEPP instrument has been related to spelling, attention, memory, executive functions, language and arithmetic skills, showing evidence of convergent validity. The normative data of TEPP are presented, considering the two school years of the participants, contributing to the professionals who use this instrument in clinical practice and also in the educational setting. 19. Development and validation of a postgraduate anaesthesiology core curriculum based on Entrustable Professional Activities: a Delphi study.

Background: Postgraduate training curricula should not be based on time-spans or predefined numbers of performed procedures. One ap- proach to link competencies to clinical tasks is the concept of Entrustable Professional Activities (EPA). The goal of this study was the definition, ranking and validation of EPAs for anaesthesiology postgraduate training and the creation of an anaesthesiologic core curriculum. Methods: Anaesthesiologists of different levels of training participated in the study (single-center, cross-sectional). First, an expert group defined a preliminary list of EPAs. Then a first Delphi round (n= 47 participants) was applied to identify daily anaesthesiology tasks with the goal to define EPAs. From the first Delphi round a new set of EPAs was defined, using the template and mapping method. Through an alignment process, conducted by the expert group, the preliminary EPAs and the new set of EPAs from the first Delphi round were summarised into a new list of EPAs. This list was presented to the study participants in a second Delphi round (n=80 participants), with the goal to validate and rank each EPA and to define the year of entrustment. For this purpose, participants were asked in the second Delphi round if each EPA should be included into an anaesthesiology core curriculum and in which year of training entrustment should take place. Furthermore, they were asked to rank each EPA on a numeric scale, defining its importance. From this numeric scale, the content validity index (CVI) for each EPA was calculated. Consensus of the results from the second Delphi round was calculated, using the one-way random effects model to calculate Intra-Class-Correlations (ICC). Percentages of agreement among the whole set of EPAs of this study and a previously published set of EPAs were computed. Results: A core-curriculum comprising of 39 EPAs was developed. The EPAs were subdivided into superior/high and inferior/low scoring EPAs, reflecting their importance and were mapped to the year of entrustment. The results reached high consensus among the different participating anaesthesiologist groups (overall agreement was 0.96 for the CVI of each EPA and 0.83 for the year in which the EPAs should be entrusted). Agreement with the previously defined set of EPAs was 73.3%. Conclusion: This study provides a further step in transforming postgraduate anaesthesiology training into a more contemporary approach. Other studies are necessary to complete and amend the presented core curriculum of EPA based postgraduate anaesthesiology training. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) have emerged as a new approach to operationalise the workplace performance expect- ations for the transition from under- to postgraduate medical training. However, the transferability of such EPAs from one context to another appears limited. In this article, we report on the results of our approach to define a full set of core EPAs for entry into residency with the expectation to be performed under distant supervision. Methods: The EPA development involved a modified, three round Delphi study, conducted at the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. The super- vision level was operationalised as supervisor being distantly available and findings being reviewed. The threshold for consent was reaching a content validity index of a least 80%. The Delphi study involved exper- ienced physicians (n=45) and resulted in a set of core EPAs with the descriptions of the categories: title, specification/limitations, conditions and implications of entrustment decision, knowledge, skills, and attitude, link to competencies and assessment sources. Results: The response rates were 76-80% in the Delphi rounds. Key to the content validation process for the performance expectation was deciding on "to act under distant supervision". The results are full descriptions of 12 core EPAs, organised into 5 overarching EPA domains. Conclusions: Our systematic approach yielded the definition of 12 core EPAs for entry into residency at the level of "act with distant supervision" according to the practice in our context. This report may support other medical schools who plan to implement EPAs into their curricula. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
