The article is devoted to English neologisms in tourism and ways of their formation. Neologisms are defined as recently coined or existing words or word combinations which name new phenomena or concepts and which are moderately used by most members of a particular speech community. The study of neologisms in various spheres of functioning is always relevant, as it makes it possible to identify and analyze current changes in modern life. The research is focused on the neologisms which name new types of travel (apitourism, weather tourism, grief tourism, flashpacking), in particular, different types of post-COVID vacations (GOAT, revenge travel) have become very popular as many people were deprived of the chance to travel for a certain period of time. New types of holidaymakers (liveaboards, babymooners, half-tourists), professions (disco nannies, director of first impressions), and the related phenomena (spread booking, ghost flights, air curtain, place lag) are analyzed in the framework of the current paper. The availability of budget travel, which has provided a variety of options for all kinds of travelers, brings both positive and negative consequences as it stimulates the local economy but can also damage the local ecosystems and be detrimental to the local population which is reflected in the neological coinages (extractive tourism, overtourism). The research focuses on the word-forming potential of neologisms in tourism as well, in particular, the analysis showed that most of the considered units were formed by compounding (48% of neologisms of the sample) and blending (44%). The least popular ways of forming neologisms in tourism are affixation (4% of neologisms in the sample), abbreviation and conversion (each method in 2% of neologisms in the sample). At the end of the article, general conclusions are presented, Table 1 ‘Word-formation types of neologisms in tourism’ and suggestions for further neologism research are provided.

Ancient Greek subjects preserve their relevance in our times through their timeless, profound and comprehensive consideration of the human soul and interpersonal relations, which remain unchanged throughout the centuries in accordance with human nature. Euripides’ tragedy Iphigenia in Aulis has not been exploited often by later writers and film makers who have focused mainly on the murder of the King of Mycenae, Agamemnon, and the destiny of the dynasty of the Atreidae in accordance with Aeschylus’ trilogy. Nevertheless, one of the main reasons for the murder of Agamemnon by his wife Clytemnestra is his sacrifice of their daughter Iphigenia, the story of which is told by Euripides in his tragedies Iphigenia in Aulis and Iphigenia in Tauris. In Yorgos Lanthimos’ film The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017) the main character Steven, just like Agamemnon, is informed of the will of the gods who demand sacrifice to be given. The carefully considered reasons which led Agamemnon and Steven to face an inevitable choice highlight their common character features, with hubris the decisive one among them. Comparison of the texts under analysis shows that acceptance of the inevitability of the situation by the families of the main characters develops through the classical stages from denial to understanding that nothing else depends on them. And while in Euripides’ tragedy the plot device of a “deus ex machina” is exploited, as the gods are satisfied with the acceptance of the inevitability of sacrifice, in the film one of the members of the family actually dies in order for order to be restored, because a murder presupposes atonement through the blood of another. This reception of Euripides’ tragedy is of particular interest because Yorgos Lanthimos is Greek by origin who at a certain moment of his career decided to move away from his native Greek space and start creating films for a more general Western audience. This paper analyses how, in this post-modernist multimodal film text expressive means from Ancient Greek theatre are combined with elements of modern cinema.

This paper presents the linguopoetic analysis of the Latin panegyric "Iter Laureatum" by Hryhorii Vyshnovskyi, dedicated to Josaf Krokovskyi, the former rector of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. The panegyric is analyzed within the historical and cultural context of that time. The purpose of this study is to give the idea of the structure, poetic means and individual author's performance of the genre in Latin language. The relationship between Ukrainian baroque poetry and antiquity is defined in precedent texts. Precedent texts actualize well-known cultural phenomena, thereby creating the effect of recognition. It is proved that the transfer of the narrative to the mythological plane creates the effect of historicity and legendary nature of the event or personality, which benefits panegyric pathos. The article focuses on lexical poetic means (analysis of poetic interpretation of mythological names) and stylistic means (the amplification, anaphor, use of metaphors and comparisons). The mythological names are classified according to the main thematic groups: geographic names, representing the ancient and medieval realities (Regna Mauri, Regna Lydiae, regna Arabum, Canopus, Thracia, Rhodopa, Troja), personal names of mythological characters (Apollo, Melpomene, Polyhymnia, Thalia, Siren, Echo, Hercules), words of musical art (chorda, carmen, lyra, chorus, nablium), martial arts (Mars, Scipio, trophaeum). The following metaphors were defined for description of patron's dignity: "majorum decus"; "pater Rossiadum"; "patronus pupillae sortis"; "victor cordis"; "princeps pectoris". We direct attention to the realization of author's narrative strategy of the will-expression, which is to exalt the patron's generosity and express the affection and loyalty towards him. It is discussed the poet's intention to cross the time barriers and transfer the mythological realities to the Ukrainian ground (Borysthenes, Siren Kioviensis).

The article examines the peculiarities of mythological characters in the Latin poetry of the baroque period in Ukraine. This period contributed a lot to intercultural relations between Ukraine and Western Europe and gave a birth to the phenomenon of the baroque Ukrainian poetry, written in Latin language. In the present paper much research has been devoted to the poetic works of Theophan Prokopovych, Grygoriy Vyshnevsky and Ilarion Yaroshevytsky; their poetic texts are found in printed editions ("Elegia paraenetica", "Epinikion", "Elegia Alexii", "Comparatio vitae monasticae", "Descriptiuncula Kijowiae", "Possesoris horum librorum luctuosum vale") and manuscripts ("Iter laureatum", "Cupido seu amor alatus"). The study analyzes the poetry in various genres, such as panegyric, elegy, epigram, lyrical poem. Addressing to the ancient legacy was defined as the sufficient and necessary feature of the baroque style. The article suggests the idea that a poet gives a preference to one or another mythological character in his individual author's interpretation. The analysis of the poetic texts reveals the most productive mythological characters, which can be classified into the following categories: 1) art (Apollo with the Muses, the winged horse Pegasus); 2) martial arts (Mars); 3) celebrations (Bacchus, Hymenaeus); 4) love (Venus, Cupid, Cypride ); 5) natural phenomena (Aurora, Lucifer, Phosphorus, Titan, Zephyrus, Thetis). The research has demonstrated that contamination of the two worldviews was natural for the baroque poet. This contamination was embodied in the bizarre combination of Christian and ancient elements in their literary works. It was traced that Latin poets of the Ukrainian baroque completely followed the literary traditions of the classical theory of poetry, what was marked in the form of the poetic work and its content.

Krzysztof Grzymułtowski (+1687) was one of most influential Greater Poland landowner of his times. Thanks to his and his mother’s marriages he became related with Leszczyński and Opaliński families. He made history as a diplomat who reached the eternal peace with Moscow in 1686, later named after him. In archival papers of the Poniatowski family, which inherited after Grzymułtowski’s daughter Katarzyna, one can find a post-mortem inventory of chattel and archival material of the magnate. It is interesting, because it combines functions of a post-mortem inventory of chattel and a post-mortem archival summary. Analysis of the objects drew to conclusions that both the chattel inventory and the archival register contain information about objects or documents important from the point of view of the voivode or his heirs. Circumstances of Grzymułtowski’s death indicate that both lists were made due to inheritance reasons. Enlisted archival materials, mostly of legal and financial significance, were supposed to document rights and obigations of inheritors. Thus in their eyes, they were as valuable as jewels and silvers mentioned as the chattel. But the list of archival materials consist also of documents that at the moment of death were already out of date. Still, they remained their prestigious character. It may lead to an assumption that another criterion of posting materials in the register or not, was their mental value, which showed various types of activity, as well as importance of Grzymułtowski in his circles. Just as objects put in the list of chattel creating a particular image of Grzymułtowski as a member of the highest nobility due to their sumptuousness, as well the list of documents supplements and even qualifies that image. It is done by presenting the content of the documents, signalled in the summary, but also by indicating people the magnate contacted. Perceived through these archival materials our character seems to be a state official serving as a senator, who has wide range of connections in the circle of his equals; he actively participate in the politics, not only domestic; he was a lord of both private and royal lands. The image of Krzysztof Grzymułtowski that emerges from the documents listed in the inventory is literal; thanks to that it shows us what nobleman one should be more vividly than the chattel inventory

In the contemporary world technology is an indispensable element, both in personal and professional sphere. Despite the fact, that we do not attach significance to it in our everyday lives, the technological development engulfed us and still reminds us about that. In the face of dynamically growing digitization there occurred a new form of document – an electronic document. The study concerns the growing electronic documentation among researchers working at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. The analysis of surveys and interviews resulted in thesis, that researchers use e-document more frequently than analog documentation. Flexibility and accessibility of this type of documents become a problem in personal papers which will be archived in the future – maybe in most part in the form of electronic documentation.

In its first part, the article consists of a detailed discussion on eighteen texts on oral history published in the second half of the 20th century in the leading American archival journal „The American Archivist”. The second part are conclusions concerning the presence of the subject of oral history in archival discourse in the United States in the latter half of the 20th century. In the analyzed texts a lot of space has been given to the character of oral history interviews as historical sources. Especially, the question of reliability of oral history has been raised, as well as ways of guaranteeing it (e.g. through a proper description). Moreover, in many cases these texts attempt to persuade their readers to use oral history in their research. Also, it may be noticed, that at some point the understanding of oral history as historical source changes – an audio or video recording of the interview becomes a source itself, and not notes made while carrying it out or its transcription. Also relations between oral history and traditional (paper) records are an important issue in discussions of the American authors. The analysis of the articles also indicates that the authors were interested more in issues of the historical nature, than of the archival one. Those latter are mostly providing access to oral history materials. But also the question of the role of archives and archivists in recording oral history is touched. Discussion on the issue of storing oral history is not present at all.
