Purpose: Parents with a premature infant are usually confronted with difficulties in caring for their babies and need education on appropriate care. The purpose of this paper was to describe the components of caring education for parents with a premature infant based on an integrative literature review and to present strategies for future education. Methods: Four electronic databases were searched to identify studies. Sixteen articles were selected through full text screening of related research published in domestic journals from January 1990 to October 2012. Results: Through in-depth discussion and investigation of the relevant literature, three components emerged; (a) nurses as educators and parents as learners, (b) education content including caring on admission or discharge, and effects of education, and (c) education environment including timing, place and materials. Conclusion: Future education on caring for premature infant should include the nurse as educator and have diverse content including parent's role, interaction with healthcare providers, and special care for premature infants with special problems. Moreover, highly technical teaching materials should be provided, along with continuous support of institution and government to individual caregivers. Conflicts between healthcare professionals and patients are caused and aggravated by differences in views on healthcare professionals' beneficence. Healthcare professionals may consider a certain beneficent act to be a recommendation, whereas the patient may consider the act to be an obligation that the healthcare professionals must follow. Healthcare professionals do not regard such acts to be an obligation; thus, healthcare professionals may not perform the act of beneficence. Patients who believe that the act is the healthcare professionals' obligation may misunderstand and distrust their healthcare professional. It is necessary to establish the right concept for healthcare professionals' beneficence; therefore, the distinction between obligatory beneficence and ideal beneficence must take precedence. In this paper, I argue that discussion on the obligatory beneficence of nurses should be required among healthcare professionals. Nursing is a profession that involves directly helping all individuals, homes, and communities; thus, nurses are forced to perform forms of beneficence outside the scope of their duties, including moral ideal forms. Failing to divide beneficence into moral ideals and obligations and emphasizing unlimited sacrifice and devotion to nurses can deteriorate the treatment of nurses and exhaust nurses with enthusiasm. In this paper, I critically reviewed the duty of rescue proposed by Tom L. Beauchamp and James F. Childress within the nurse-patient relationship. I hypothesized that the duty of rescue can be used to define the scope of nurses' obligatory beneficence. The duty of rescue consists of five individual conditions, which I examined in relation to the special nature of nurse-patient relationship. I applied the duty of rescue to the four hypothetical and practicable cases to confirm that it is possible to apply the duty of rescue to define obligatory beneficence among nursing professionals. I expect that identifying the nature of beneficence using the duty of rescue will present a feasible and sustainable nurse image and provide an opportunity to improve the therapeutic relationship between nurses and patients. In accordance with Article 15 of the Medical Service Act , medical personnel or a founder 「 」 of a medical institution may not, upon receiving a request for medical treatment or assistance in childbirth, refuse to render his/her service without ‘any justifiable ground’ in Korea. However, conscientious objection to abortion became a hot topic, as gynecologists who were unable to perform abortion in accordance with their religious and conscientious beliefs asked to recognize their right to veto after the Constitutional Court ruling on the punishment for abortion. It is forbidden to arbitrarily deny a medical provider a medical act. but conscientious and religious freedom of all people should be guaranteed. So it is also necessary to discuss the appropriateness of the range of conscientious objection for specific medical practices. As a based from the data, this paper summarizes the current status of the United States, Ireland, Italy, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Canada, which guarantee the conscientious objection of medical providers to abortion in the form of medical law, special law and guidelines. And through this work, we have drawn up issues that require social consensus for domestic legalization. We hope that the discussion on conscientious objection to the realization of the rights of both the patient and the health care provider will be initiated through social consensus on these issues. Background: South Korea's public health doctor system requires physicians to provide primary healthcare in medically underserved areas, such as rural regions, as an alternative to mandatory military service. Recently, concerns have arisen over the decline in the number of public health doctors available in these underserved areas. This study reviews issues related to the public health doctor system and proposes strategies for enhancing its management. Current Concepts: The annual number of public health doctors has steadily decreased by approximately 46.6%, from 1,962 in 2008 to 1,048 in 2022. According to the survey, the reasons behind this decline include the lengthy service period of 36 months compared to the 18-month military service, poor working conditions, low financial support, unreasonable manpower deployment, and uncertain social status. Discussion and Conclusion: Several recommendations can enhance the effectiveness of the public health doctor system. First, the mandatory service period of 36 months should be shortened, and a military training period of 1–2 months should be incorporated into the overall service duration. Second, ensuring appropriate working hours, including holidays, along with improved working conditions and reasonable financial support and compensation, is essential. Third, the role of public health doctors should shift from solely providing basic primary healthcare to acting as public health managers in local communities. The outbreak of Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus(MERS-CoV) infection in South Korea has become a public health threat. There are many confirmed cases of MERS in healthcare workers. Understanding the nature of the infection and the mechanismof transmission will be a useful lesson. This paper gathers data from the press records in KCDC from May 20th to June 26th 2015 to identify the age, sex, occupation and etiologic exposure of exposed healthcare workers in order to come up with a response plan. By June 26th, 2015, there were 181 confirmed cases of MERS-CoV infection in Korea. 36 (19.9%) of them were healthcare workers. These healthcare workers were exposed to MERS-CoV across 12 healthcare facilities, including Samsung Medical Center and Dae-Chung Hospital;three were infected inside ambulances. Their occupational categories are as follows: 7 doctors (19.4%), 12 nurses (33.3%), 9 caregivers or geriatric care assistants(25.0%), and 8 others (22.2%). These healthcare workers were infected by 12 super-spreaders. 30 of the workers(83.3%) were infected without being aware of their contact with MERS patients, while 6 (16.7%) were aware of this contact at the time of infection. The high number of confirmed cases of MERS-CoV in healthcare workers is direct proof of the failure of crisis communication in South Korea, and the delay in the diagnosis of the index case was due to the lack of risk communication regarding the threat of a MERS outbreak. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify and explain the subjectivity of care workes’ perception on remaining functional ability care. Methods: This study applied the Q-methodology approach. Through a literature review and individual interviews related to the topic of the study, 37 Q-statements were finally derived from 200 Q-populations, and 40 P-samples were asked to classify the Q statements. The data were analyzed using the QUANL Program. Factor analysis was performed using the P-samples along the axis. Results: As a result, Type 1 sees the need for remaining functional ability care in the physical area, and Type 2 recognizes the need for remaining functional ability care in the cognitive and psychological areas. Type 3 negatively perceives remaining functional ability care. Type 4 sees remaining functional ability care as an inaccessible area. Conclusion: This study suggests care workers should provide remaining functional ability care and institutions should develop an educational program on the concept’s effect and enhance care workers’ roles and task types so they can develop expertise. The study investigated the perception and experience of infection control targeting dental users. During July-August 2020, 198 adults over the age of 20 were surveyed on general characteristics, infection control awareness and experience, and improvement. Analysis was performed using PASW Statistics ver 18.0. The research results, 91% of dental users recognized that infection control was important. In the recognition of infection control were highly investigated oral treatment equipment sterilization, hand hygiene and glove replacement before and after treatment by dental staff. And dental users was relatively low the replacement of disposable gowns and safety glasses for each patient by medical staff. The dental staff are doing well in personal protection and instrument sterilization. Surface disinfection and water quality management needed improvement. It was meaningful to suggest improvement in infection control based on the perception and experience from the perspective of dental users. Purpose: Despite research efforts, current fall rates are still higher than expected. To approach this problem, we developed guidelines on preventing falls in hospitals. Methods: Four guidelines were selected by the K-AGREE II process. Recommendations from each guideline were retrieved and evaluated based on the quality of evidence and the strength of the recommendations. Recommendations followed the grading system of the Korean Hospital Nurses Association's Guideline Adaptation Manual. In the external review, 13 practice nurses from 5 hospitals and 13 panel experts including doctors, nursing managers, and pharmacists participated. Results: The final guideline consisted of 5 sections and 341 recommendations. The first two sections were composed of recommendations for institutional readiness for change process and management, and Section 3 was divided into assessment of risk factors, preventive intervention and post-fall management. The summary of falls risk factors included seven components. Multifaceted interventions were modeled into six strategies. The final sections consisted of recommendations for implementing fall improvement programs and for sustaining effective prevention programs. Conclusion: Given that falls result from various combinations of risk factors, the present guideline contains multifaceted assessments and interventions including risk-targeted strategy. In early 2018, the National Action Plan for Preventing Suicide was announced by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and related ministries. The Action Plan presents a realistic goal of reducing suicide mortality to two-thirds of the present level, which would make it 1.4 times higher than the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development average (in contrast to current circumstances, in which it is 2.4 times higher than the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development average). Several public and private organizations are engaged in various suicide prevention activities. However, it is crucial for a seamless network to be formed, including government organizations, medical institutions, private organizations, and religious organizations. In medical settings, it is imperative that clinicians assess patients' risk of depression or suicide and arrange for a referral service. We need to connect modern social trends with classical mental health treatment modalities by using technologies such as smartphones and the internet. Strategies for research and development and for actual implementation must be established. Suicide prevention requires the active cooperation of not only mental health professionals, but also all physicians and health professionals. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence healthcare providers’ attitude towards end-of-life care (EOLC) in the emergency department (ED) in hospital settings. Methods: From June 1 through June 30, 2014, a descriptive correlational study was performed with 41 doctors and 105 nurses stationed in the ED. Results: According to a regression model on the factors affecting healthcare providers’ professional attitude towards EOLC, 28.1% of variance (F=15.185, P=0.000) was explained by awareness of death, gender and personal attitude towards EOLC. And 34.1% of the healthcare providers’ personal attitude was related with awareness of death, experience of hospice education, occupations and professional attitude towards EOLC. Conclusion: This study demonstrated that attitude towards EOLC was influenced by awareness of death and personal characteristics. Healthcare providers in the ED should be provided with tailored training to improve their understanding of death. Also an educational program should be developed and provided to ED healthcare providers to improve their awareness of death. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
