Abstract

The synthesis of ester is used as a teaching material in high school chemistry. Previously, we reported that the suitable conditions for the synthesis of ethyl acetate in safely and short time.In the present study, to obtain the suitableconditions for the synthesis the other esters such as methyl salicylate and methyl benzoate, we examined the effectsof reaction temperature, reaction time and amount of saturated sodium hydrogen carbonate solution. Experimentalconditions for the saponification reaction of methyl benzoate were also examined.
