, As early as the 20th century, the development of modernization was a major concern for most Chinese intellectuals. When Cai Yuan-pei served as the first Minister of Education in the Republic of China, he actively promoted Aesthetic Education, and his idea of "saving the nation through Aesthetic Education" deeply impacted the Chinese education modernization. During his time as president of Peking University, Cai Yuan-pei organized two Aesthetic Education Groups, which were called Drawing Group and Music Group, in order to formulate his aesthetic ideal. This paper attempts to clarify the two groups’ activities based on information culled from the "Peking University Daily". The "Peking University Daily" existed from 1917 until 1932, and was the main newspaper for all students, faculty members and staff. From the "Daily", we can get a clear idea of the Aesthetic Education happening at the beginning of the 20th century., 論文(Article)
