金沢城公園の中型哺乳類相を、センサーカメラを用い調査した。タヌキ、ハクビシン、ニホンテン、ニホンアナグマ、アカギツネ、ニホンイタチ、ネコが撮影された。タヌキとネコは、撮影頻度が毎月高く、公園を恒常的に利用していると考えられた。常には撮影されない種は、公園を利用しながら周辺の住宅地も積極的に利用した(ハクビシン)、あるいは小立野台地を経て公園に移動し、一時的に滞在したと推測された(テン、アナグマ、アカキツネ、イタチ)。また、野生の哺乳類は、ネコと比較して、夜間の撮影頻度が高かった。以上のことなどから、金沢城公園は、野生の中型哺乳類の生息地として、次の特徴を有すると考えられた。1)大きな攪乱を経験し、小規模な森林が分節して存在する森林性哺乳類の生息にとって大きな制限のある環境、2)動物の移出入の観点から小立野台地の帯状緑地と連続性のある環境、3)人間の強度の利用が、哺乳類の活動時間帯を制限している環境。, We used motion-activated cameras to investigate the medium-sized mammalian fauna of Kanazawa Castle Park, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. Raccoon dogs, masked palm civets, Japanese martens, Japanese badgers, red foxes, Japanese weasels, and domestic cats were observed. Raccoon dogs and domestic cats were consistently recorded in all study months, indicating regular use of the park area. Less frequently encountered species fell into two categories: the first included species that actively use the neighboring residential areas and use the park area only occasionally, such as the masked palm civet; and the second included species that travel into the park from the greenbelts in the Kodatsuno terrace and stay in the park temporarily, such as Japanese martens, badgers, and weasels, and red foxes. The daily activity patterns of wild mammals differed from those of domestic cats in that wild mammals were recorded more frequently at night than during the day, when tourist were there. Kanazawa Castle Park comprises highly fragmented, small forest patches that may not fully meet the habitat requirements of most forest mammals. However, the park also provides important connectivity with the Kodatsuno terrace greenbelts, which act as ecological corridors. Finally, although the park may provide a refuge for some species, high human activity may also restrict mammal activity during the day.

application/pdf, 北海道十勝地域の森林は農地開発に伴って大きく減少しており、残存する河畔林が森林棲の動物の限られた生息地として機能している。本地域の河畔林は農業被害を引き起こすニホンジカCervus nippon（以下、シカ）やエキノコックス症を媒介するアカギツネVulpes vulpes（以下、キツネ）にも利用されており、これらの種がどのような河畔林を頻繁に利用するかわかっていない。本研究では北海道十勝地域においてシカおよびキツネによる河畔林利用頻度を測定し、頻度が高くなる地点の条件と影響要因が最も強く作用する空間スケールを特定した。2011年5月?2012年12月に十勝川水系の河川に5km間隔で計37台の自動撮影カメラを設置し、シカおよびキツネによる河畔林利用頻度を測定した。各季節（春：3-5月、夏：6-8月、秋：9-11月、冬：12-2月）の両種の撮影頻度を目的変数とした一般化線形混合モデルを構築し、これに影響する要因を調べた。考慮した影響要因は、カメラ設置地点の胸高断面積合計と下層植生被度および河畔林の幅、餌資源となりうる小型鳥類および小型哺乳類の100カメラ日あたりの撮影頻度（キツネのモデルのみ）、カメラ設置地点を中心とした半径100-800 mバッファ内の森林、農地、市街地の面積率および河川総延長、カメラ設置地点から山間部までの距離（シカのモデルのみ）である。解析の結果、シカの夏の河畔林利用頻度は河畔林地点の周辺400 mに農地、森林および河川が多く分布するほど高くなり、秋ではこれらの要因に加えて下層植生被度が高いほど高くなった。キツネの河畔林利用頻度は春では周辺200 mに森林が多いほど低くなり、夏では小型鳥類の撮影頻度が高いほど高くなり、冬では周辺200 mに市街地が多いほど高くなった。秋の利用頻度に影響した要因は不明だった。本研究により、十勝の農地景観におけるシカおよびキツネの河畔林利用頻度に影響する環境要因とそれらが強く作用する空間スケールが明らかになった。本研究で用いたアプローチによりシカやキツネの利用頻度が高い河畔林地点を特定しそれらの地点やその周辺を適切に管理することで、軋轢をもたらしうる種による河畔林利用を制限し、軋轢の発生地への両種の進出を抑えられる可能性がある。, Forest area has dramatically decreased with agricultural development in Tokachi, Hokkaido, Japan. The remaining riparian forests provide suitable habitats for various wildlife species, including sika deer (Cervus nippon), which seriously damage agricultural crops, and red foxes (Vulpes vulpes), which can transmit echinococcosis. We used 37 infrared cameras to examine the local- and landscape-scale factors affecting the frequency of riparian forest use by sika deer and red foxes in Tokachi from May 2011 to December 2012. In summer and autumn, the capture frequency of deer was positively correlated with areas of forest and farmland, as well as riverine areas within a 300-400 m buffer zone from each camera. Deer also preferred dense understorey vegetation in autumn. The factors influencing the capture frequency of foxes varied with season; it was negatively correlated with forest area within a 200 m buffer zone in spring, positively correlated with relative abundance of small birds in summer, and positively correlated with urban areas within a 200 m buffer in winter.

本シンポジウムでは，まず東アジア諸国において生息数過剰となった有蹄類個体群の管理の現状について情報共有を行った．次いで，欧州での先行事例を参考に，将来の個体数管理に関わる留意点や戦略を論議した．狩猟は，欧州諸国では野生動物管理システムの重要要素として認識されているが，娯楽目的の狩猟者に依存しすぎることによるリスクも顕在化している．狩猟者は，より多くの収穫を得ることを最重要視し，生息数過剰によって生じる諸問題を軽視しがちなためである．東アジア諸国においては，欧州で生じているこの問題について，十分に留意しておく必要性が指摘された．, In this symposium, we discussed the current status of ungulate management in East Asian countries where ungulates are overabundant. We also discussed future strategies to control ungulate populations by learning precedents from Europe. Hunting is considered to be one important factor for wildlife management systems in European countries. However, problems have become apparent when ungulate population control depends on recreational hunters, because recreational hunters tend to be more interested in their harvest than issues relating to overabundant populations. East Asian countries should recognize this fact as precedence for failure.

岩手県のツキノワグマ（Ursus thibetanus）保護管理計画の施策を通覧し，問題点を整理して今後の方針について論じた．岩手県のツキノワグマはほぼ県内全域に生息しており，日本国内でも大きなツキノワグマの地域個体群を擁している．ツキノワグマによる農業被害や人身被害が1980年代から問題となり有害捕獲頭数が増加したことから，2003年に特定鳥獣保護管理計画であるツキノワグマ保護管理計画が策定された．計画におけるモニタリング調査項目は，「個体情報調査」，「被害状況調査」，「捕獲個体調査」，「行動圏調査」，「堅果類豊凶調査」，および「生息状況調査」である．モニタリング調査の問題として，正確な個体数推定が困難であり，これまでの推定生息数が過少であったことなどが挙げられる．今後，隣接する県との共同による地域個体群毎の調査体制の整備が必要と考えられる．また近年，人里に出没する個体が増加している．集落周辺の刈り払いや廃果の適切な処理など，ツキノワグマの人里への侵入防止対策を，地域と一体になって取り組む必要がある．

The authors conducted a mail survey in 2007 with the residents of two towns, Assabu and Oshamambe, Hokkaido, Japan, with the aim of obtaining information of the residents' attitudes and behaviors toward brown bears (Ursus arctos) in order to estimate the feasibility of building up a framework of community- based preventive activities, and to help the locals create safer neighborhoods for both humans and bears. The result shows that, though the majority of the residents are intolerant to bears' invasions into human territory, a substantial part of them don't necessarily want the bear to be extinguished. It prepares the ground for building up a framework of preventive activities. In addition, a majority of residents favor some of the preventive measures, and besides, there is room for them to be introduced because they are not yet widely implemented., 学術論文

In 1998, the Hokkaido government began to tackle an environmental policy for the community in the Oshima Peninsula to co-exist with brown bears (Ursus arctos yesoensis). However, the plan that was drawn up two years later put a greater importance on minimizing the risk of encountering brown bears by killing them rather than maintaining their population. The plan doesn’t seem successful in terms of reflecting public attitudes and behaviors towards brown bears. In 2001 we did research on public attitudes and behaviors through a questionnaire among the local people. The initial results are: (1) 59% of the residents overestimate damages from brown bears to human beings. (2) While 31% are tolerant of their existence, 30% intolerant. (3) 45% of those who enter forests do so without defensive equipments. 多摩川源流域山梨県小菅村の奥山2地域と里山2地域の計4地域において,2008年4月から12月までの9ケ月間,6台のセンサーカメラによって,げっ歯目と翼手目を除く中大型哺乳類相の調査を実施した(1,130カメラ日)。その結果,11種の中大型哺乳類が確認され,撮影頻度(100カメラ日あたりの撮影枚数)が高い種は,上位からニホンジカ(Cervus nippon ; 12.9),イノシシ(Sus scrofa ; 5.4),テン(Martes melampus ; 4.5),ニホンザル(Macaca fuscata ; 3.3),そしてタヌキ(Nyctereutes procyonoides ; 3.1)であった。1位のニホンジカの撮影頻度の割合(32.7%)は,2位のイノシシ(13.7%)に比べ2.4倍高く,4地域すべてにおいて相対的に高い値を示した。また,調査4地域において,対象種の撮影頻度の合計が最も高い傾向を示したのは,湧水域を対象とした奥山地域B(120.2 ; 8種)で,続いて里山地域A(46.0 ; 9種),里山地域B(44.5 ; 10種),奥山地域A(17.3 ; 10種)の順であった。湧水域の撮影頻度の高さは,この地域の個体数あるいは利用頻度の高さを反映したものであり,この地域が野生生物管理にとって鍵となる環境であることが示唆された。, Census of the middle to large mammalian species except for rodents and Chiroptera was conducted by 6 camera-traps at 2 areas of a secluded mountain and 2 areas near villages in a total of 4 areas of Kosuge, Yamanashi, central Japan for 9 months from April to December 2008 (1,130 camera-day). The 11 species were photographed and compared with the photographed frequency (number of photographs per 100 days). The top five species were the sika deer (Cervus nippon ; 12.9), followed by the wild boar (Sus scrofa ; 5.4), the Japanese martin (Martes melampus ; 4.5), the Japanese macaque (Macaca fuscata ; 3.2), and the raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procyonoides ; 3.1). The rate of photographed frequency of the sika deer (32.7%) was 2.4 times higher than that of the wild boar (13.7%). Between 4 areas the sum of photographed frequency of focal species was the highest in the area of secluded mountain A containing spring water (120.2 ; 8 species), followed by the area near the villages A (46.0 ; 9 species), B (44.5 ; 10 species), and the area of secluded mountain B (17.3 ; 10 species). The photographed frequency at the spring water may reflect population density and/or visitation frequency of the animals, and suggests that the area is one of the important habitats for wildlife management.
