本研究では、高等教育におけるカラーバリアフリーの現状と課題を明らかにするため、大学の講義を対象に教材の配色を調査した。その結果、ユニバーサルデザイン化が十分に進んでいない実態が明らかとなった。この結果をふまえて今後の課題を考察し、教育環境の適正化に資することを目的として、色覚多様性が生じるしくみと、教材作成に役立つ色の知識を述べた。

高齢化が進展する日本において，高齢者の5 人に1 人が認知症という時代は目前に迫っている。その中で「認知症と生きる」ためには，認知症当事者への支援と同時に，その介護者である家族への支援が重要である。認知症家族の健康を守り，安心して暮らせる社会を実現していくことは，多種多様な，あらゆる家族に対する支援全体のユニバーサルデザインを目指すことである。ユニバーサルデザインでは，課題に対する個別的なハイリスクアプローチだけでなく，潜在した課題までを含めた予防的なポピュレーションアプローチが必要となる。このアプローチの推進は，多くの一般家庭にとっても安全で，安心して生活できる環境の実現につながる。保健・福祉・医療における支援者は，公衆衛生学的視点を持ち，想像力を豊かに膨らませて，あらゆる方向から，包括的・本質的な支援に取り組んでいくことが望まれる。

In spring, 2020, graduation and commencement ceremonies across the country were cancelled to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In mid-April 2020, the situation had worsened and a state of emergency was declared nationwide. The new academic year has been vastly different and this situation has presumably had a great impact on freshmen and continuing students as well. This article considers the possibilities and limitations of peer support via remote teaching by looking at teaching ＂Counseling Practice in a remote learning environment. It introduces how this subject was taught online this academic year, compares it with the conventional style of teaching, and focuses on peer support. This article proposes, moreover, the necessity of building up the peer support system by considering the benefits and challenges of integrating peer support into teaching.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the descriptions of can-do statements in standards for foreign language education used in Japan, from the viewpoint of universal design, and to show how they are described by the viewpoint of the majority. The majority here are foreign language learners who are generally assumed to be typical, that is, learners who hardly ever feel physical, sensory, cognitive, psychological or language barriers in classrooms.

Hiroshima Jogakuin University started life career education from a life-span perspective for women as part of its reorganization in 2018. Taking advantage of being a small-scale all female university, it established a support system for taking care of individuals continuously after graduation. This paper aims to propose job hunting support for disabled students from a lifetime career perspective, and, most importantly, the role of job hunting support for students with developmental disabilities and students with suspected developmental disabilities. The Support Center for Students with Special Needs has assisted students since it was founded in April 2014. Targeting students with developmental disabilities and students who might have such disabilities, the Support Center reviewed the progress of job hunting support for students with developmental disabilities and their characteristics and the status of collaboration with off-campus support institutions. Based on the challenges in supporting students, a job hunting support model was created. In this support model, an “instruction manual” leverages the strengths of students with developmental disabilities so that students are able to find appropriate jobs by promoting their self-understanding and self-esteem. This support model is available to other students which suggests that the possibility of a universal design for job hunting support models.

香川県内の高校１年生を対象に，家庭基礎の授業内で２年にわたって減災教育プログラムを試行した。とりわけ，２年目の授業後の自由記述では，共生・人の多様性の視点から様々な避難所設計提案がなされており，１年目とは違う手ごたえや減災授業の深まりを感じた。そこで本研究では，生徒の減災学習への深い理解と共生・多様性の視点に立った避難所 の設計を支えていたものは何かを明らかにするために，教師へのインタビュー調査を試みた。その結果，①UD授業とつながる減災授業の設定，②生徒に減災学習の目的が理解できるよう身近な話題やリアルに捉えられる教材の準備，③教師の豊かな教材観とそれを支えた教師・研究者・各種専門家との連携，④自由に発言できる学習環境が整った上で授業が実施され，協働学習がなされたことで，生徒の学びあい，育ちあいが実現したと捉えた。, We have tried the disaster reduction education program for two years in the basic home economics classes for the first year high school students in Kagawa Prefecture. Especially in the questionnaire surveys taken in their second year of the program, they seemed to give suggestions on shelter designs from the point of coexistence and human iversities. These were good reactions from the students which were different from the ones we received in their first year, and we felt they understood the program more deeply. In this study, therefore, we have tried the interview of teachers in order to find out what brought about the favorable outcome. As a result, we came to a conclusion that the students have successfully received the disaster reduction education helping each other and have improved themselves through the program in which: disaster reduction learning classes leading to UD lessons are prepared; familiar examples and teaching materials are provided allowing students to think disasters more realistically; teachers have a wealth of ideas about teaching materials, and interprofessional relations between teachers, researchers and specialist of each special field which support the ideas are established; and a learning environment is prepared where students freely express their opinions.

Universal design has long been one of the key concepts in order to realize a truly inclusive society since it was introduced by Ronald Mace in the 1980s. The idea has been adopted into various fields, from education to city design. This study was conducted to survey the possibility of utilizing this concept in the command of the Japanese language, especially in the light of information accessibility for students with visual/hearing impairment with a desire to participate in higher education. The study is twofold: the first, theoretical part of the study deals with a brief history of the Japanese language that serves as the backdrop of its linguistic particularity; the second part is more practical, in which the actual issues concerning the support for students with different impairments are considered. By contrasting the theoretical and practical findings, the aim of this study is to clarify the difficulties of establishing a learning environment that is even reasonably "universal," especially in the case of the Japanese language, and to suggest possible measures that can be taken to improve the current situation to some extent., 要旨：ロナルド・メイスによって1980 年代に提唱されて以来、ユニバーサルデザインの概念はインクルーシブな社会を考えるうえで重要なものであり続けており、教育から都市デザインに至るまで、広い領域に応用されてきた。本研究はこの概念の日本語への応用可能性を、とくに視覚・聴覚に障害を持ちながら高等教育を受けようとする学生に対する情報保障との関連から検討する試みである。本研究には二つの側面がある。第一の、より理論的な側面では、日本語の歴史を概観しながら、言語としての日本語の特徴を考察する。そして第二の、より実践的な側面では、実際の支援の現場に注目し、様々な障害を持つ学生に対する情報保障における問題点を整理する。二つの側面を突き合わせることで、真にユニバーサル＝普遍的な日本語を教育現場で実現することはきわめて困難であることを明らかにしつつ、可能な限り状況を向上させるために必要な工夫について考察することが、本研究の目的である。

The Elimination of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities Law (“the Disabilities Discrimination Act”) was enacted in June, 2013 and came into force on April 1st, 2016. The fact-finding investigation made by Japan Student Services Organization (2017) reported that the number of students with ｄevelopmental disorders have been rapidly increasing in universities. So we should provide reasonable accommodation for them and promote inclusive education system in universities. The purpose of this study is to discuss about career education programs for both students with developmental disorders and neurotypical students in universities. Career education must be provided to meet the diverse needs of students, for example, making universal design of teaching contents , educational methods and techniques, or ‘rubric’ evaluations. If we introduce active learning, such as activities of a ‘group work’ or a ‘presentation’, we should provide reasonable accommodation and make universal design for all students. This is the ‘FD’(Faculty Development).

研究成果の理解を助けるビジュアルデザインは，研究者にとり重要な位置を占めるようになった．しかし研究者自身によるビジュアルデザインは，煩雑でわかりにくく，審美性の低い場合が多い．そこで私たちは，研究者のために有用なビジュアルデザインのルールについて考察した．まず，研究者に即したビジュアルデザインのルール案を考案し，それを掲載したハンドブックを作成した．次に，これを研究者に配付し，彼らに対するアンケート調査を介して，提案ルール案の研究者にとっての有用性と問題点を検証した．その結果，有用と判明したのは，第1に「画面の構成方法」に関するルール，特に「視線の流れを意識する」，第2に「効果的な配色方法」に関するルール，特に「3色（メインカラー，アクセントカラー，無彩色）でキメる！」，第3に「PowerPointによる描画」に関するルール，特に『頂点の編集』をマスターする」であった．一方，有用性が低いとされたのは「グラフ・表・フローチャート」に関するルールで，改善の余地があるとわかった．配布ハンドブックは概ね評判が良く，国内の理系研究者に有用とわかった．学ぶ機会が少ないデザインの基本ルールと技術を学習できたため，「役立つ」実感を与えたと推察する．, Visual designs aiding the understanding of research results are becoming important for researchers. However, many researchers use incomprehensible and unattractive visual designs, which is why we attempted to formulate effective visual design rules for researchers. First, we published handbooks that presented plans of these visual design rules. We distributed them to researchers in Japan and conducted surveys using questionnaires. We then inspected the effects and problems of these plans. Consequently, the most effective rules were about the “Layout,” particularly the rule“ Being Conscious of the Flow of the Eyes.” The second most effective rules were about “Color Methods,” particularly the rule “Deciding Three Colors （Main Color, Accent Color, and Neutral Color）.” The rules about “Drawing using PowerPoint” were also effective, particularly the rule“ Mastering Edit Points.”

本研究では，高等学校定時制課程における「ユニバーサルデザインの視点を取り入れた授業改善」の実践を通して，その有効性と教員の意識の変化を検討した．その結果，教材・教具の工夫や視覚的・聴覚的手掛かりといった授業の改善が図られ，多くの教員が授業の充実を実感していた．また，授業を参観する教員にとっても，授業を観る視点の広がりと観察する力が高まっていた．課題として，本実践の成果を生徒の学力や意識変化で検討していくことがあげられるとともに，今後学校の教育活動全体へ波及させていくことを提起した．, This research discusses the effectiveness of universal design and teacher’s consciousness changes through the genuine practice for class improvement which a teacher tries to make the best use of universal design during a class at a part-time high school. As a result of class improvement above, most teachers not only showed more positive attitude toward class improvement, such as devising their teaching materials or tools and introducing more and more audio-visual aids, but also noticed a really positive reaction to their actual practice. In addition to this fact, it was quite significant that each teacher spread his/her viewpoint of class improvement in class visits. On the other hand, this research has raised a problem that needs to be considered how the effectiveness of universal design is related to student’s academic ability or consciousness changes, and how the influence of it is involved in entire educational activity hereafter.

The Elimination of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities Law (“the Disabilities Discrimination Act”) was enacted in June, 2013 and came into force on April 1st, 2016. Under this law, the elimination of any discriminatory treatment against persons with disabilities must be promoted, and reasonable accommodation for the students with disabilities must be provided by all national universities, while private universities are less obliged to make the same efforts. This paper aims to examine career support for the students with developmental disorders, whose numbers have been rapidly increasing in universities, and consider it from the viewpoint of career development as part of university education. As a result of surveying research on career support for university students with developmental disorders, this paper points out that sufficient support has not been provided in Japan.This paper reports on the current situation and issues of career education at universities and shows that career education for female college students is not sufficient. Also, career education should be provided to meet the diverse needs of students, such as making universal design available to students with developmental disorders.

Reasonable accommodation for disabled students learning in higher education is the most important problem to discuss by the enactment of Japanese anti-discrimination law in April ₂₀₁₆. Hiroshima Jogakuin University must endeavor to eliminate discrimination against disabled people, and make reasonable accommodation. We tried to make the learning support system for the students with disabilities. For example, a lecture attendance assist system, and a lecture captioning system, using ICT.For the result, we succeeded in a lecture attendance assist system, but a lecture captioning system was unsuccessful by our poor voice recognition technology. So it is necessary to research on ensuring accessibility for universal design.

As a place of science communication, museums are being expected to encourage all citizens to avail and participate in its activities. This paper focuses on adults with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) with whom a questionnaire survey was carried out. 80% of them answered they liked museums. There were two main reasons behind this: the appreciation for the museum’s side of satisfying intellectual interests and its less burdening atmosphere and environment for people with ASD who are hypersensitive. On the other hand, it became clear that services for improving learning effect are not being sufficiently used by them. They also face some difficulties when using museums: museums might be inconveniently located, do not match well with their hypersensitivity, and often have hard to understand indications and instructions. The result of the survey reveals that there is an expectation for museums to improve usability to match better with people with ASD’s characteristics. Such improvement will have to take into consideration different positions that people have and obstacles they face, in order to incorporate universal design to museums and develop educational programs that utilize minorities’abilities. On a long-term basis, museums’contribution will be expected for the development of science communication and community.

Technology in recent years has achieved remarkable progress. Operation equipment to achieve the advanced features such as smartphone and tablet device have begun easily imported into everyday life. However, many of such apparatus does not have the feedback to operation, and they are lacked in physical operation. It's built up the hypothesis that without being dependent only on visual information, instructional information can be transfer under the situation where light is intercepted by using tactile sense information. In this research, we will propose an operation apparatus with physical operativity by using haptic technology.

This paper is described about an assignment of haptic interface. We have made a proposal for a music baton system for visually disabled persons. The system is constituted by an acceleration sensor, a radio module, and a haptic interface device. We have carried out an experiment of comparing the visual and the haptic interface. The assignments are declared by the results that are rise-time of a motor and pre-motion. In the paper, we make a proposal for new method of the voltage control. The response time of haptic interface was improved by the method in the experiment.

[synopsis] This paper describes two issues about the architectural evacuation plan using the universal design (UD) and the barrier free (BF) in Higashi-Hiroshima city and Cure city by the field work: (1) the present condition of t he a rchitectural evacuation plan and the architectural evacuation route about the public building, the welfare building and the commercial building; (2) the constituent elements and factors of the BF. This study clears two points; (1) The architectural evacuation plan and t he a rchitectural evacuation route is not developed in many buildings. (2) The plan of evacuation equipments, the investigation of evacuation route by the simulation and the investigation of psychological of the rescue and the evacuees.

[Abstract] We have made a proposal for a music baton system for visual disabled persons. The system is constituted by an acceleration sensor, a radio module, and a haptic interface device. When a conductor moves the baton, Players are able to acknowledge the action using the haptic interface device. We have carried out an experiment of comparing the visual and the haptic interface. The result declared that a pre-motion is important for the visual interface. In the paper, we make a proposal for new method of a pre-motion using the haptic interface device. The response time of haptic interface was improved by the method in the experiment.

[Synopsis] This paper describes three issues about the present condition for the universal design (UD) and the barrier free (BF) in Higashi-Hiroshima by the field work and interviewing: (1) the condition of the BF and the UD about the road; (2) the condition of the BF and the UD about the commercial shops; (3) the satisfaction of the wheelchair user and the blind for the BF and the UD. This study clears two points; (1) The using of the universal design methods is very hard about the city planning and the existing building. (2) In this case, the satisfaction to the using of buildings is increase by the barrier free methods.

This study aimed to consider the issues on the family room for baby care as a fundamental daily life environment based on the survey of their actual conditions and users' evaluation from the viewpoint of gender equality. As a result of analysis, the following points have become clear; 1) Breastfeeding space shouldn't be seen from the entrance of the family room. 2) Diaper changing space and waiting space should be seen from the entrance of the family room, and shouldn't be seen from breastfeeding space. 3) The entrance to breastfeeding space should be partitioned by a door, not a curtain. 4) A buffer zone between breastfeeding space and another partition is important to block people directly looking in.

The Japanese aging becomes serious year by year. Japan became the aging society in 1970 and became the aged society in 1994，and it was it with super aged society in 2007. The Japanese aging rate arrives at it by 23.1 % neighbor，very short time in 2010. Speed of the aging becomes fast，and a seniorcitizen and the handicapped person include Japan in comparison with the many foreign countries， and the security of the living environment which anyone can live for comfortably in peace becomes a problem. Of the making example of the welfare map which used GIS for socially vulnerable here suggest it.

The places where the universal designs are actualized are rather hard to find, being contrasted with the barrier-free places. In the present paper, the places where the universal designs exist were exemplified, with the materials obtained in the 3rd International Conference for Universal Design in Hamamatsu on Oct. 30 to Nov. 3. The universal designs are mainly found in the houses and buildings, including the hotels and the shops. They are also available in the area of documentations such as copying and the font types, as well as in the area of education. We make a proposal for a music baton system for visual handicapped persons. This system is constituted by an acceleration sensor. a radio module. and a haptic interface device. The acceleration sensor is built in the music baton grip and the data are transmitted by the radio module. A performer has a receiver with the haptic interface device. The receiver's CPU picks up rhythm from the data and vibrates the haptic interface device. This paper is described about an experiment of comparing the visual and the haptic interface. The result declares that the haptic interface is an advantage for an assistance of visual handicapped persons.
