From May 2006 to March 2018, a total of 30 patients with multiple ground glass opacities( GGO) lessor equal to 2.0 cm underwent percutaneous preoperative computed tomography (CT)-guided Lipiodolmarking and subsequent video-assisted thoracic surgery( VATS). There were 22 patients with 2 GGOs,6 patients with 3 GGOs, 1 patient with 4 GGOs, and 1 patient with 5 GGOs. Of the 71 CT-guided Lipiodolmarking procedures were successfully completed. All 71 Lipiodol spots were detected with C-armshapedfluoroscopy and completely resected. Pneumothorax was the most common complication andoccurred in 22 (73.3%) of 30 cases. There were severe complications in two (6.7%) cases of pneumothoraxrequiring chest tube placement and three( 10.0%) cases of bloody sputum. Of 30 cases multipleGGOs revealed 24 synchronous lung cancer (19 patients with double lung cancer, 3 patients with triplelung cancer, 1 patient with quadruple lung cancer, and 1 patient with quintuple lung cancer). PreoperativeCT-guided lipiodol marking and VATS resection is a safe and reliable method for synchronous multiplelung cancer showing GGO.

Radial scan method collects blades rotated about the k-space origin. The one blade is the group of the echo acquired each repetition time (TR) in concentric strips. Because each of the blades has the phase-encode direction, it can be expected to be dispersing flow artifact which appear in the phase-encode direction. We examined how to produce flow artifact in radial scan method without motion correction. Flow artifact does not appear like a mass in radial scan method. Background noise in radial scan method tended to decrease when width of the blade is thinner and a number of blades is larger under a number of echo is keeping. In conclusion, unlike past countermeasures against flow artifact in Cartesian method, flow artifact becomes inconspicuous to be dispersed by 360 degrees in radial scan method.

We report a case of cardiac angiosarcoma of the right atrium. A 20-year-old woman was admitted to the Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine with severe chest pain and dyspnea. A cardiac tumor was diagnosed by computed tomography (CT), echocardiography, and cinecardiography. The tumor marker CA125 was 293 U/ml (normal : <35 U/ml). Therefore a CT-guided transthoracic needle biopsy under CT fluoroscopic guidance for definitive diagnosis was performed after obtaining the patient's informed consent. Pathohistologically, the tumor was diagnosed as a cardiac angiosarcoma. The use of an intravenous infusion of contrast material contributed greatly to clear visualization of the tumor margin and cardiac lumen and assisted in easily and correctly advancing the needle toward the tumor. Moreover, tumor marker CA125 was a good indicator of therapeutic efficacy.

Use of a central venous catheter (CVC) may be complicated by a catheter fracture, causing an embolism. Pinch-off syndrome is a recognized complication that develops from the use of implantable subclavian venous access devices. Although rare, as it occurs in only 0.8% of the reported cases, the condition can appear as a complication secondary to the insertion of a CVC. We experienced a case of CVC division in a 26-year-old male who had a CVC implanted through the subclavian vein. We failed in our attempt to remove the catheter fragment using video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS). If no complication occur over a long-term, it is highly possible that the catheter fragment will become adhered to the vessel wall. Therefore, it may not be necessary to remove the fragment in those cases.
