国際熱核融合実験炉(ITER)の建設判断に必要な技術を実証することを目的として、1992年から工学設計活動 (EDA) が日本,欧州連合(EU),ロシア,米国の国際協力によって進められた。このEDAでは、各種の先端的機器の製作技術開発が行われ、ITERで必要とされる製作技術の実証と技術目標の達成に成功し、2001年7月に終了した。そして、現在、ITER計画は建設に向けた新たな局面へと進んでいる。ITERの超伝導コイル・システムは、トロイダル磁場(TF)コイル,中心ソレノイド(CS)コイル,ポロイダル磁場(PF)コイル,及び不整磁場補正コイルの4種類からなる。これらのコイルの内、CSコイル及びTFコイルは、これまで経験したことのない大型かつ高性能なコイルであるため、EDAにおいて、それぞれCSモデル・コイル計画及びTFモデル・コイル計画を実施し、製作技術開発及び超伝導特性の実証試験を行った。CSモデル・コイルの製作には、高性能超伝導素線製造技術,大型撚線技術,コイル化技術,熱処理技術,超伝導導体接続技術及び高耐電圧絶縁技術の開発が不可欠である。本報では日本が中心となって開発に成功したCSモデル・コイルについて、以上の製作技術を中心に紹介する。, 著者所属: 日本原子力研究開発機構(JAEA)

超電導コイル巻綿部の平均ヤング率値(巻綿剛性値)を求めるため、コイル状の巻線サンプルを用いた剛性評価式験を行った。測定したサンプルは、モノリス導体より成るコイルと、平角撚り導体より成るコイルの2種である。モノリス導体コイルについては、室温と極低温(液体窒素中)で試験を行い、極低温では理論計算で予想される以上の剛性劣化を生じていることが明らかとなった。また、平角撚り導体コイルは、モノリス導体コイルに較べ、室温においてすでに著しい剛性劣化を生じていることがわかった。, 著者所属: 日本原子力研究開発機構(JAEA)

最近、当研究室で開発された、3種類の大電流・大型の超電導パルス導体を基本的に用いて設計した3種類の20MJパルスコイルの交流損失を計算した。磁界が+7Tから-7Tまで2秒間で変化する両極性運転時の3種のコイルの交流損失はすべて、40kJ以下で蓄積エネルギーの0.2%以下であり、大電流・大型の導体を使用しているにもかかわらず、充分に低損失であることが分った。, 著者所属: 日本原子力研究開発機構(JAEA)

Focusing on the circulating cooling of superconducting coils, the author introduces an example of research and development that cools the coil by circulating liquid helium, gas helium, and liquid hydrogen. In order to realize more efficient cooling, the author explains a method that combines a circulation method with magnetic refrigeration and oscillating heat pipes, and a method that involves circulation with a cryofan in the state of low temperature fluid without going through room temperature. In addition, the benefits of circulating cooling are also mentioned.

A new compact rotating gantry for carbon-ion radiotherapy is being designed. This gantry consists of three combined-function superconducting-magnets having a bending angle of 90 degrees. The dipole field of the superconducting magnets is designed to be Bmax=5.02 T, corresponding to a bending radius of 1.32 m for transporting carbon ions having kinetic energy of 430 MeV/u. This superconducting magnet also has three independent super-conducting quadrupole-coils, which are to be wound inside of the dipole coil for beam focusing. The dipole and quadrupole coils are to be electrically isolated in the magnet, and connected to independent power supplies, so that each field component can be independently excited. Having used the combined-function superconducting magnets, the size of the rotating gantry would become very compact; the length and radius are 5.1 m and 4.0 m, respectively. The magnetic field distributions of the super-conducting magnets were calculated with a three-dimensional electromagnetic field solver, Opera-3d code. With the calculated fields, the superconducting coils were optimized, so as to obtain uniform field distributions. In this paper, the design of the beam optics as well as the superconducting magnets is presented.

application/pdf, In the previous paper, we reported the optimum operation scheduling method which can satisfy the environmental pollution constraint. In a general convenient method, the unit commitment of thermal power stations is decided by the priority method. But the priority method does not always decide the optimum unit commitment, and it may not consider the environmental pollution constraint. In this paper, we decide the unit commitment by the effect of stopping a thermal power station. This effect is calculated through considering the system’s cost increase when one thermal power station is stopped. We have considered the recirculating type pumped storage power plants in our serial papers. In this paper, we consider the other energy storage units, for example, the multiple-use type pumped storage units, superconducting coils, or fly-wheels. Our method is applied to a model system, and we report the results as follows. Our method can estimate the optimum operation which satisfies the environmental pollution constraint. The start and stop pattern of thermal power stations changes depending on the constraint of environmental pollution. We also show the influence of the effiｃｉｅｎｃｙ and the ｅnｖｉｒｏnmental pollution constraint on the total system operating cost.
