Summary Matsumoto Dental University has been offering lectures on oral implantology to fourth– year dental students since 2007 and a hands–on program since 2019 as part of it’s under graduate program. In order to evaluate the educational effects of oral implantology and identify areas for improvement, 85 fourth–year dental students (59 males and 26 females) in the 2020–2021 academic year and 78 fourth–year dental students (54 males and 24 females) in the 2021–2022academic year were enrolled as subjects, and questionnaires were administered after the hands–on training.The questionnaire surveyed the interest in this program, the level of understanding, and the usefulness of implant treatment for their future. As statistical analysis,anindependent sample t–test was used to examine the questionnaire results of the years at a significance level of 5%.There was no significant difference in any of the items.The level of understanding and interest in content was high in both years.These results suggest that this hands–on program will help teach students oral implantology.

Summary Full–coverage restorations made of titanium have been covered by Japanese health insurance since June 1,2020,considering the sharp rise in the prices of precious metals and presence of metal allergies.We expect clinical applications of titanium restorations to in -crease in the future.However, due to its high melting point and high affinity for oxygen at high temperatures, titanium has not been widely used in prosthetic clinical cases.We reported the actual use of full–coverage metal restorations surveyed from medical records and dental technician slips at Matsumoto Dental University Hospital in 2020.This study aimed to survey it in 2021.Patients who had full–coverage metal restorations placed on their molars from January 4 to December 29,2021 were consecutively enrolled, and data on the type of metal, placement site, and time were recorded. In all, 627 molars received full–coverage metal restorations.A titanium crown (Ti–R)was used in 192 cases, and a 12% Au–Pd–Ag alloy crown (Pd–R) in 435 cases;99 upper and 93 lower teeth, and 92 first,93 second,and seven third molars received Ti–Rs,208 upper and 227 lower teeth,233 first,197 second,and five third molars received Pd–Rs.The number of patients who received Ti–Rs in 2021 was higher than in 2020,suggesting that Ti–Rs will be a widely used for metal allergy–friendly prosthetics in the future.We plan to continue the survey and study the prognosis

Considering the presence of metal allergies and the sharp rise in the prices of precious metals, full–coverage restorations made of titanium have been covered by Japanese insurance since June 1, 2020. The clinical application of these restorations is expected to increase in the future. However, due to its high melting point and high affinity to oxygen at high temperatures, titanium has not been widely used in prosthetic clinical practice. This study aimed to survey the actual use of full–coverage metal restorations at Matsumoto Dental University Hospital. Patients who had full–coverage metal restorations placed on their molars from June 1 to December 28, 2020, were consecutively enrolled, and data on the type of metal, placement site, and time were recorded. Besides, the dentists who used titanium restorations (Ti–Rs) were given a questionnaire. We asked them to rate their impressions of Ti–Rs in comparison with full–coverage restorations made of Ag–Pd–Cu–Au alloy (Pd–R) in six categories, including occlusal adjustment, polishing, and luting operations. In all, 338 molars received full–coverage metal restorations. Ti–R was used in 33 cases and Pd–R in 305 cases; 14 upper and 19 lower, 12 first molars, 18 second molars, and 3 third molars received Ti–Rs, while 137 upper and 168 lower, 174 first molars, 174 second molars, and 3 third molars received Pd–Rs. Seven dentists responded to the questionnaire survey. Many dentists stated that Ti–R was more challenging to use than Pd–R for occlusal adjustment, polishing, and adjustment time. On the other hand, most of them stated that the luting process was similar for both. Besides, Ti–R was favorably evaluated in terms of metal allergy. The number of patients who received Ti–Rs increased during the study period, suggesting that Ti–Rs will be a commonly used metal allergy–friendly prosthetic in the future. We plan to continue the survey and study the prognosis.

Bisher nahm man in der Forschung an, dass in Heinrich Manns früheren Werken eine starke Tendenz zum Ästhetizismus und der Dekadenz vorzufinden sei. Doch es besteht die Möglichkeit, dass bei dieser Auffassung die Kritik von Thomas Mann an Heinrich Mann unkritisch hingenommen wird. In diesem Aufsatz wird zunächst Thomas Manns Ansicht über den Ästhetizismus in Betrachtungen eines Unpolitischen betrachtet und die Zuverlässigkeit dieser untersucht. Als Nächstes werden mit der Auseinandersetzung mit Heinrich Manns Novellen (Das Wunderbare, Enttäuschung und Pippo Spano), die zum Problem der Ästhetizismus geworden simd, gleichzeitig Thomas Manns Werke (Enttäuschung und Tonio Kröger) behandelt, welche von dieser Heinrich Manns Novellen sowohl beeinflusst wurden als auch dieser selbst beeinflussten, und daran anschließend wird die Beziehung beider zueinander erneut untersucht. Das Wunderbare gehört zu Heinrich Manns frühsten Novellen und wird als das Werk bezeichnet, in dem sein Ästhetizismus stark verankert ist. Doch durch den Vergleich mit Thomas Manns Enttäuschung erkennt man, dass die Grenze zum Ästhetizismus zum Ausdruck gebracht wird. Außerdem wurde Pippo Spano bisher mit Tonio Kröger verglichen und als Dekadenz-Bekenntnis von Heinrich Mann selbst verstanden. Jedoch wenn man die Novelle von der Biographie des Autors getrennt betrachtet, so kann Mario, der ein Ästhetizist ist, als kritisch dargestellt gesehen werden. Durch das Betrachten der Werke von Heinrich Mann anhand des Vergleichs mit Thomas Manns Werken, die zeitnah geschrieben worden sind, wurde in diesem Aufsatz darauf hingewiesen, dass Heinrich Mann tatsächlich von Anfang an spürte, dass dem Ästhetizismus Grenzen gegeben sind.

The purpose of this study is to develop a new swimming power measurement apparatus with improved Drag Boat (DB). The name of this apparatus is Improved Drag Boat (IDB), and the measurement system using IDB is verified. IDB is as large as a floating kickboard. The body is made of wood, and the load can be selected from five different levels. Drag force and swimming power can be calculated by measuring swimming velocity. Calibration of this system was performed using a towing equipment (Active Drag System, ADS). Towing velocity was in the range of 0.4〜2.2m/s. The subjects were four male competitive swimmers. They swam 25m front crawl at maximum effort in free swimming. The speed at this time was defined as the maximal swimming velocity (MSV). Semi-tethered swimming was performed using DB and IDB, and maximal swimming power (MSP) was calculated. Significant linear relationship was observed between towing force and swimming velocity when the subjects swam towing IDB. There was no significant correlation between MSP and MSV using DB(r = 0.817, n.s)．Similarly, no significant correlation was found using IDB(r = 0.930, n.s). The swimming power calculated using IDB and the swimming power calculated using DB was found to have a significant correlation (r = 0.953, p

The purpose of this study was to investigate the validity of the simple swimming power estimation method using Drag Boat. Drag Boat is as large as a floating kickboard. The body is made of wood, and the load can be selected from five different levels. Drag force and swimming power can be calculated by measuring swimming velocity. The subjects were 22 male competitive swimmers. They swam 25m front crawl at maximum effort. This swimming speed was defined as Maximal Swimming Velocity (MSV). Thereafter, subjects swam 15m tow swimming with 5 different loads. The maximal swimming power (MSP) calculated with 5 different loads was 113.87 ± 25.91 W, and the MSP calculated with 3 different loads was 113.94 ± 26.49 W. As a result of comparing the MSP calculated by the two methods, there was no statistically significant difference. The above results show that method of calculating with 3different loads is effective.

鹿児島県指宿市に所在する南摺ヶ浜遺跡の2007年度の発掘調査で壺棺墓から３体、円形周溝墓から１体、土坑墓から１体の合計５体の人骨が出土した。いずれも保存状態は悪い。年齢の推定を行ったところ、南摺ヶ浜遺跡では壺棺墓は子供の埋葬に用いられたことが、円形周溝墓や土壙墓は成人の埋葬に用いられたことがわかった。

To evaluate the mortality of the bivalve Ruditapes philippinarum caused by predatory animals, two experiments were conducted in the coastal area of the western Seto Inland Sea around the Tana Marine Biological Laboratory, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. On the tidal flat, four cages of different designs were set on the bottom, and 200 individuals of R. philippinarum (14.8 mm in average shell length [SL]) were put into each cage (Experiment 1). From the number of survivors after four months, the mortalities due to environmental factors, predators entering from the upper side and those from the bottom were estimated to be 0.615, 0.225 and 0.170, respectively. On the other hand, in the raft experiment, containers filled with sand and R. philippinarum juveniles (< 5 mm SL) were set into the cages hanging from the raft at depths of 1, 3, 5 and 7 m (Experiment 2 ). Five individuals of the sand dollar Scaphechinus mirabilis were also introduced into the container at each depth. Four months later, large-sized individuals (20-30 mm SL) of R. philippinarum were observed in the containers, indicating that the juvenile bivalves survived and grew even in the presence of S. mirabilis. Therefore, this study shows that S. mirabilis is not the major cause of mortality of R. philippinarum.

We studied new preparation conditions for scallop shell phosphors to suppress weathering and the disappearance of fluorescence, and measured the fluorescence properties of these phosphors. When a shell was fired to 900°C in a carbon dioxide atmosphere, weathering and the disappearance of fluorescence could be suppressed. It was found that the higher brightness of the shell phosphor fired at 860°C was about 6cd/m2, when the power of irradiated UV light was about 1.6 W/m2. The emission spectrum shows three bands, with peaks at about 420 nm, 485 nm and 585 nm. The bands at 420 nm and 485 nm are presumed to be due to Cu, and the band at 585 nm is presumed to be due to Mn.
