Women are widely used in writing kanji, both Japanese and Mandarin kanji. The aim of this research is to describe the meaning of Woman in the kanji, both kanji in Japanese and Mandarin. The method used is a descriptive-qualitative research method, which is a method used by researchers to find knowledge or theory regarding research at a certain time, with the population and sample being kanji which uses female kanji originating from Japanese and Mandarin to get the meaning and describe it. The research results show that there are several similarities and differences in literal meaning in Japanese and Mandarin. However, the difference in meaning is not so significant because the interpretations are almost the same and the ultimate goal is to both represent women, so it can be seen that the meaning of women in kanji in both Japanese and Mandarin is both to represent women, both in terms of activities carried out and woman's own identity.

Wang Baoxuan’s 王葆玹 argument that Emperor Wu of the Han dynasty respected the Five Confucian Classics and tolerated non-Confucian schools because the “supremacy of Confucianism” (獨尊儒術) was not implemented until the reign of Emperor Cheng can be disputed. Additionally, Wang’s premise that masters learning (子學) in the Warring States period was the source of classics learning (經學) in the Western Han dynasty, and the extinction of masters learning during the supremacy of Confucianism led to the decline of classics learning, can also be debated. This paper proposes that with regard to the supremacy of Confucianism, the focus was on the second founding of the Han dynasty, not on the relationship between classics learning and masters learning. Both the Qin dynasty and the Western Han dynasty had masters learning as their guiding ideology, but Emperor Wu found that solely relying on masters learning, which was a collection of ideas by important thinkers, was not sustainable. Instead, the Han dynasty needed to be based on classics learning, which represented the traditional Chinese civilization that was inherited from the three ancient and sacred Chinese dynasties of the Xia, Shang, and Zhou. The supremacy of Confucianism was thus a means of ensuring the continuity and stability of the Han dynasty that was applied by Dong Zhongshu and Emperor Wu.

In this paper, we propose a simulation method to evaluate the packed state of catalyst pellets in a pipe reactor for gas phase reaction. This simulation method is based on dynamic explicit FEM (finite element method) and consists of three steps. Specifically, first, the catalyst pellets freely fall under gravity and flow into a packing hose with a hopper-like inlet. Then, after the catalyst pellets reach the bottom of the pipe reactor, the packing hose is pulled up to create a random packing of the catalyst pellets in the pipe reactor. Finally, the bulk density and stress distribution of the catalyst pellets randomly packed in the pipe reactor are calculated, and the packed state of the catalyst pellets is evaluated. Using this simulation method, we simulated the packing of cylindrical catalyst pellets into the pipe reactor and evaluated the packed state of the catalyst pellets in the pipe reactor. As a result, it is clarified that the maximum equivalent stress generated at the bottom of the catalyst pellets packed in the pipe reactor approaches a constant value as the ratio of the packed height of the catalyst pellets to the diameter of the pipe reactor increases. In addition, the effects of the shape of the catalyst pellets on the bulk density and average equivalent stress of the catalyst pellets in the pipe reactor are elucidated, and the optimal shape of the catalyst pellets that can increase the bulk density and reduces the stress is found. The optimally shaped catalyst pellets are expected to improve their packed state in the pipe reactor, extend the durability of the catalyst pellets and increase the efficiency of production. In this paper, it is assumed that the packed state and durability of the catalyst pellets are evaluated based on the bulk density and stress distribution of the catalyst pellets in the pipe reactor.

The paper presents a ten-year history of social network logics in China. It tells the story of how this new research area was started, how its research agenda was extended, and, in particular, how a focus on graph games developed. Important ideas and research results are summarised, with an emphasis on the connections between them. An important aspect of this history is the successful collaboration between Chinese and international colleagues.

The study of Chinese logic started as the second wave of Western traditional logic spread through China. Following Sun Yirang’s initial work and Liu Shipei’s development of it, this field was preliminarily established by Hu Shi, Zhang Shizhao and Guo Zhanbo. Since the 1980s, it became commonplace to systematize Chinese logic based on the Western system of logic. Since the 1990s, though, the Chinese academic community has begun to reflect on this research method, which has led to the trend of reverting to Chinese culture and its own logic.

Topology optimization is an advanced design method that is used to generate lightweight and high-performance structures by determining the material distribution. However, one of important drawbacks of the topology optimization, especially performed by the density approach, is that distinct and smooth boundaries cannot be directly obtained owing to checkerboard patterns, grayscales, and irregular shapes with thin parts (point-point connections) or disconnected parts (isolated islands). This drawback makes it difficult manufacture the results of topology optimization. In this paper, a novel methodology is proposed to automatically obtain optimal smooth boundaries of topology optimization results using an efficient boundary smoothing technique and the H1 gradient method, which is a node-based parameter-free optimization method. With this methodology, distinct and smooth optimal boundaries can be determined without any shape design parameterization. Moreover, re-mesh is not necessary in the shape updating process and the process is fully automatic. The validity and practical utility of this method is verified through three numerical examples with respect to a mean compliance minimization problem. They were calculated under the volume constraint, and a shape with a smooth outer shape was obtained with the average compliance reduced while satisfying the volume constraint. It was also confirmed that the shape obtained by using this methodology can be directly manufactured by a home 3D printer by converting it into an STL file.

OBJECTIVES This study examined the development of Chinese pre-service physical education teachers’ technical skill, tactical understanding, game performance (common content knowledge - CCK), and specialized content knowledge (SCK) during a badminton course incorporating Play Practice instruction. METHODS Participants were 36 pre-service teachers (31 males, 5 females: age 21 ± 1.0) majoring in physical education at a university in central China. The students completed a 24 lesson course after a 16 weeks semester. A typical lesson (90 minutes) included a 10-minute warm-up, followed by instruction in two or three technical skills or tactics for 50-55 minutes. The final 25-minutes included the Play Practice aspect of the lesson - a specific game-based challenge to reinforce a technical or tactical aspect of badminton play. The challenge included the three typical pedagogies of Play Practice: focusing, shaping, and enhancing. The French clear test, tactical understanding in badminton, Game Performance Assessment Instrument (GPAI), and student-generated content maps were used to respectively monitor changes in technical skills, tactical understanding, game performance, and specialized content knowledge before and after the course. Parametric statistics were used to compare student outcomes. RESULTS Statistically significant differences were found on all measures from pre- to post-test, with all showing large effect sizes. In particular, over 75% of students achieved the benchmark depth of SCK following the course. CONCLUSIONS The inclusion of Play Practice within a sport instruction course can contribute to various elements that are needed to promote the CCK and SCK of pre-service physical education students.

There is a growing demand for higher performance and thinner communication cables (LANs and USBs) that can transfer data in large volumes at high speed in the era of IoT, 5G. Fluorine resins having a lower dielectric constant and a lower dielectric dissipation factor are used as coating materials for high performance electric wires. To coat the electric wires stably at high speed, it is necessary for resin pellets to flow smoothly from hopper into cylinder in an extruder. In this paper, we propose a simulation method based on the dynamic explicit FEM (Finite Element Method) to evaluate the flowability of resin pellets which are filled into the hopper by free-fall and then flow out from the hopper by gravity. First, we verify simulation results by statistical method to ensure the randomness of the filled state of resin pellets in the hopper and validate the simulation method with experiment results. Next, using the simulation method, we clarify that the shape of resin pellets has a great influence on their flowability and find an optimal pellet shape that can improve the flowability of resin pellets from the hopper to the cylinder in the extruder. Finally, we confirm that the optimal resin pellet shape is in dependent of the amount of pellet, kind of material and angle of hopper.

Molecular oxygen suffices the ATP production required for the survival of us aerobic organisms. But it is also true that oxygen acts as a source of reactive oxygen species that elicit a spectrum of damages in living organisms. To cope with such intrinsic ambiguity of biological activity oxygen exerts, aerobic mechanisms are equipped with an exquisite adaptive system, which sensitively detects partial pressure of oxygen within the body and controls appropriate oxygen supply to the tissues. Physiological responses to hypoxia are comprised of the acute and chronic phases, in the former of which the oxygen-sensing remains controversial particularly from mechanistic points of view. Recently, we have revealed that the prominently redox-sensitive cation channel TRPA1 plays key roles in oxygen-sensing mechanisms identified in the peripheral tissues and the central nervous system. In this review, we summarize recent development of researches on oxygen-sensing mechanisms including that in the carotid body, which has been recognized as the oxygen receptor organ central to acute oxygen-sensing. We also discuss how ubiquitously the TRPA1 contributes to the mechanisms underlying the acute phase of adaptation to hypoxia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Sound is generated by Kansei information processing performed by an instrumentalist playing a musical score. To construct datasets for Kansei information processing of musical scores, we have performed subjects' experiments using melodies extracted from some sets of music scores. All Japan Band Contests have a lot of pieces of music, and they are all selected as the required pieces, so we extracted the melodies from them and made a set of music scores for the subject experiment. The results of five subjects' experiments show that the subjects' estimated tempo differs. Furthermore, the tempo estimated by the subject from the score was defined as a 2-class classification problem of fast or slow tempo and simulated by a deep neural network. The recognition rate of the training data was more than 99.8% for all subjects' datasets, but the recognition rate of the evaluation data varied from 90.3% to 77.4%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Demand for high precision machining of complicated shapes has recently increased with the miniaturization of mechanical and electronic products. Therefore, further development of fine wire electrical discharge machining (EDM) technology using a thin wire electrode has been also requested. However, there might be a limit in improving the machining performance of fine wire EDM using conventional wire only by optimizing discharge pulse conditions and gap control. Therefore, it is essential to develop a new type of thin wire electrode for further improvement of wire EDM performance. In this study, high-zinc-content brass (γ-phase brass) coated steel core wire as a new type wire electrode was trially made to improve the machining stability. In wire EDM, zinc content of wire surface would contribute to rapidly cool down the gap by the evaporation due to its low boiling point. However, the surface of γ-phase brass coated wire tends to become rough in the heat treatment process of the wire. Thus, another type of the γ-phase brass coated wire with smoothed surface was also made by an extra finish drawing. The wire EDM characteristics using these wires were compared with those using conventional brass coated steel wire. Furthermore, the distribution of spark locations during process was evaluated by high-speed observation to investigate the influence of γ-phase brass and the surface roughness of wire. As a result, the cutting speed using the γ-phase brass coated steel wire with smoothed surface is faster than that using conventional wire because of uniform distribution of spark location.

In this paper, a density-based topology optimization of a shear panel damper made of low yield steel has been carried out to improve the deformation ability. A minimization problem of maximum cumulative equivalent plastic strain (CEPSmax), which is an index of the deformation ability of the shear panel damper, is formulated subject to a constraint of volume. The optimization process consists of the following steps. Firstly, the finite element analysis with isotropic/kinematic hardening model is adopted to simulate the cyclic elasto-plastic behavior instead of experimental approach, and the numerical solutions are evaluated by comparing with previous experimental results. After that a density-based topology optimization is applied to obtain the optimal material layout, and investigate the relationship between the maximum CEPS and the total absorbing energy during the optimization process. With the topology optimization method, the objective function can be substantially decreased to improve the deformation capacity of the shear panel damper. The optimization results for each volume constraint value are also compared. Finally, based on the results of the topology optimization, a detailed shape is obtained by using the response surface methodology combined with the design of experiment technique.

In industrial fields, the bolt-nut connection is widely used and unitized as an important machine component. In the previous studies, a bolt-nut connection with slight pitch difference was considered towards realizing anti-loosening performance and high fatigue strength through axisymmetric finite element method (FEM) as well as experiment. Also by applying three-dimensional FEM, the nut screwing process was analyzed to obtain the prevailing torque Tp confirming anti-loosening performance. In this study, the tightening and untightening processes after the nut touched the clamped body are analyzed through 3D FEM as well as experiment. The FEM results are in good agreement with the experimental results. The clamping force and tightening torque relationship under the pitch difference is compared to the normal nut. Then, the behaviors of the pitch difference nut in tightening and untightening process is discussed by varying the pitch difference. For the normal nut, the equation of clamping force and tightening torque relation in the untightening process is clarified by FEM. Since the nut untightening property after the nut tightening is more important to prevent the nut self-loosening, the loosening resistance torque TRu is newly defined in this process. It is found that with increasing the pitch difference the loosening resistance torque TRu increases. The large loosening resistance torque TRu suggests that the pitch difference nuts have good anti-loosening performance.

Chronic ankle instability (CAI) causes impairment in proprioception, such as ankle joint position sense and plantar cutaneous sensation. Although plantar vibration stimulation may be effective as a means of enhancing proprioception, its efficacy remains ambiguous. This study aimed to clarify the immediate effects of plantar vibration stimulation on healthy athletes and athletes with CAI. Eight healthy and eight CAI athletes participated in this study, and their joint position sense and cutaneous sensation were evaluated before and after the intervention of plantar vibration stimulation or non-intervention, designed as a cross-over study. There were no significant differences between the healthy group and the CAI group in both joint position and plantar cutaneous sensation. Also, there were no statistically significant changes in either group before or after the intervention. One possible explanation for the absence of differences between the healthy and CAI groups could be attributed to a high Foot and Ankle Ability Measure score. Neither group exhibited any changes in joint position or plantar cutaneous sensation following the vibration intervention. The frequency and amplitude of the vibration stimulation affecting proprioceptors may be different, and the joint position and plantar cutaneous sensation of CAI groups may be comparable with those of healthy participants. Ankle brace is commonly used to treat and prevent ankle sprain. Its main aim is to restrict supination of the ankle. However, some braces restrict ankle dorsiflexion and plantar flexion. In addition, loosening and loss of restriction after exercise have also been reported. The purpose of this study was to reveal if thin-type ankle brace for ankle sprain restricts ankle dorsiflexion and plantar flexion and its effect of exercise. Five male adults (average age of 30.8 ± 5.2 years) were included in the study. Dorsiflexion and plantar flexion of subjects' right ankle was measured before and after wearing the brace, and before and after exercises. Exercises consisted of performing 20 times of calf raise, full squat, maximum vertical jump, and 5-minute running on a treadmill. Measurement was performed thrice, and their average was statistically analyzed between with and without the brace, and before and after each exercise. The results showed that there was no significant difference between all measured angles of with and without the brace and before and after each exercise. Thin-type ankle brace for ankle sprain have been reported to restrict supination. Considering our results, this brace does not restrict ankle dorsiflexion and plantar flexion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
