第5回スペースデブリワークショップ (2013年1月22-23日. 宇宙航空研究開発機構調布航空宇宙センター), 調布市, 東京, 5th Space Debris Workshop (January 22-23, 2013, Chofu Aerospace Center, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)), Chofu, Tokyo, Japan, 1991年、NASA/MSFC のK.B.Hayashida らは、1960年代にアポロ計画を中心にして検討されたメテオロイド防護技術としての2 重板シールドシステム、いわゆる、Whipple バンパーシールドの貫通限界式、及びその後スペースデブリの脅威を踏まえて見直された式について概観した報告書を出している。そこで検討された式は、膨大な数の2 段式軽ガス銃を中心とした試験結果に基づいたものであるが、1947年にF. L. Whipple が提案したアイデアを物理的に精査しメカニズムを明らかにすることによって、その防護システムの有効性を確認したものである。Fig.1(a)は同報告書に記載された、Ballistic, Shattering, Hypervelocity の3 つのRegimeの存在を示した図であり、Fig.1 (b)はこの3 つの領域の存在のために、1 枚板の貢通限界式に比べて2 重板シールドシステムの防護性能が如何に向上するかを示した図である。筆者らは、JAXA 宇宙機設計標準推進委員会デブリ防護設計WGの活動の一環として、「スペースデブリ防護設計マニュアル」の作成を行っているが、その過程で、衛星設計に資するため、実験によるのではなく、数値解析によって貫通限界式の検討を行った。その一例をFig.1(c)に示す。数値解析のみによって気化領域を含むWhipple シールドの貫通限界曲線(式)の推定を行ったのは世界的に見ても初めての試みであると思われる。, In 1991, K. B. Hayashida et al. at MSFC/NASA published a report reviewing the ballistic limit equations (BLE's)for the “Double-Plate”, so-called Whipple bumper shield, which was investigated as a protection technology for the space vehicle from interplanetary meteoroid impacts mainly for the purpose of the Apolloprogram in 1960's. The report also reviews the modified equations applicable for the space debris impact, after the space debris problem emerged in 1970's. The BLE's referred to in the report were derived on the basis of vast amounts of hypervelocity impact tests using launchers like two-stage light gas gun, it was confirmed and proven that the Whipple bumper shield is indeed effective for the meteoroid protection by investigating and clarifying the mechanism of it, of which idea was proposed by F. L. Whipple in 1947. Figure 1(a) depicts the existence of three regimes of the ballistic, shattering and hypervelocity, and Fig.1(b) indicatesthe effectiveness of the “Double-Plate” in comparison to the “Single-Plate”, both graphs are published in the report. The authors have been writing the “Design Manual on Space Debris Protection” as an activity of the Working Group of the Space Debris Protection Design at JAXA, and they tried to derive the ballistic limitcurves (equations) of small projectile impacts on the “Double-Sheet” targets only by the numerical analysis, not by the experiment. Figure 1(c) shows one of such curves. A new computation method was introduced into multicompartment analysis, which saved CPU time and gave good fitting parameters even in complicated systems. This technique may be applied to systematic estimation of metabolic flows in tissues under various physiological conditions.

直接探索法によるマルチコンパートメント解析の手法を開発し, それが, いくつかのコンパートメントが混合している場合の分離や, 開放系の解析に有効なことを, モデル実験によって示した。

マルチコンパートメント解析を非定常系へ適用した場合, データと定常系の近似モデルとの間に系統的なずれが確認でき, このことから, 系の状態が判定できることが明らかとなった。この他, 2つのコンパートメントを1つとみなして解析した場合, 可逆系に適用した場合について検討した。

マルチコンパートメント解析における代謝回転率の信頼限界を求める方法について, 再検討した。実験が最低5回くり返して行える場合には, スチューデント分布を利用した一般的方法が適用できるが, 1回の実験のみの場合には, 理論的根拠の明確な方法が適用できないことが明らかとなった。1回の実験の場合には, データのばらつきを反映した「相対偏差」を導入することにより, 求めた代謝回転率の分布の巾を知ることができ, モデル実験により, くり返し実験によって求めた代謝回転率の標準偏差と, それぞれの実験の「相対偏差」とは, ほぼ対応していることが明らかとなった。

複雑な代謝系内のトレーサー分布を, 代謝物の元素位置ごとに計算できるプログラム(simulator)を試作した。このプログラムを用いて, Calvin回路によっては, 生成する糖分子内のトレーサー分布を十分説明することができないことを, 再確認することができた。

アフリカツメガエル卵母細胞へのRNA, DNA等の細胞成分注入用の簡易な微量注入装置を考案, 試作した。この装置を用い特に植物性mRNAをアフリカツメガエル卵母細胞へ注入しタンパク質生合成を行わせた。その結果, tobacco mosaic virus RNA, brome mosaic virus RNA, イネglutelin前駆体mRNA, エンドウriburose 1,5 bis-phosphate carboxylase mRNAが忠実に翻訳され, 対応するpolypeptideが形成されることをsodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel電気泳動(SDS-PAGE)による分子量の測定と免疫学的方法を組合わせることにより確認した。, A simplified and convenient microinjection system to inject cell components such as DNA and RNA into Xenopus oocytes was devised and constructed. By use of this system, RNAs of plants were injected into Xenopus oocytes, then their protein syntheses were examined. Tobacco mosaic virus RNA, brome mosaic virus RNA, rice glutelin precusor mRNA, and pea Riburose 1,5bisphosphate carboxylase mRNA were faithfully translated. The nature of the synthesized polypeptide was confirmed by fluorography using sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) and immunoelctrophoresis.

レタスの2品種, New York 515およびGrand Rapidsについて, ジベレリン(GA), カイネチン(KIN), アブシジン酸(ABA)の種子発芽に対する効果を, 15°∿35℃, 明暗両条件下で調べた。(1) New York 515は, 低温域(20℃以下)での暗発芽効果が高く, またKINに対する感受性が高い。一方, Grand Rapidsは, 低温域での暗発芽効果が低く, 光又はGAに対する依存性が高い。また, Grand RapidsのKINに対する感受性は, New York 515に比べて低い。(2)赤色光とGAとは, 互いに相加作用的な効果を示した。すなわちGAの作用は暗黒下でのみ観察され, 赤色光下では, ほとんどその作用が認められなかった。したがって, 赤色光とGAとはその作用点が比較的近いものと考えられる。(3) KINは赤色光(またはGA)と相乗作用的な効果を示した。すなわち, KINは赤色光またはGAで飽和した効果をさらに高める作用を示し, その作用はとくに高温(35℃)で著しかった。したがって, KINと赤色光またはGAとの作用点は異なるものと考えられる。(4) ABAは, 種子発芽のみでなく, 胚軸の伸長を強く抑制した。発芽抑制作用は低温では弱く, とくにNew York 515では, 10°, 15℃での発芽抑制効果を全く示さなかった。高濃度のABA (4・10^M)による発芽抑制作用は, GAによっては回復できず, KINによって見かけ上回復した。(5) Khan, A. A.の報告と比較すると, 部分的には同様の結果が得られたが, KINが単独で大きな発芽促進効果を示した点が異なり, したがって, KINがABAによる発芽抑制作用を解除する点にのみ作用するとしたKhan, A. A.の結論は, 一般化できる現象ではないことが明らかとなった。
