The Middle Triassic Foraminifer Abriolina mediterranea LUPERTO, 1963, is here redescribed and its stratigraphic and systematic position is better defined; the new family Abriolinidae ZANINETTI & RETTORI, n. fam., superfamily Geinitzinacea BOZORGNIA, is here introduced for the genus Abriolina LUPERTO. Abriolina mediterranea was recorded for the first time in the "Calcari di Abriola" (today known as a part of the Triassic Monte Facito Formation), locality Abriola (Potenza), southern Apennines. The species was originally considered Permian in age (LUPERTO 1963, 1965) and later replaced in the Middle Triassic on the basis of several géological and biostratigraphical studies concerning the Monte Facito Formation. ln the three main carbonate lithofacies (massive grey limestones, black limestones, pink micritic limestones not nodular) of the Monte Facito Formation, Abriolina mediterranea is associated with Triassic foraminifera (Turriglomininae, Duostominidae, Ophthalmidiidae, etc.) and also with Ladinian Conodonts in the pink limestones.

Paratriasina HE, 1980 (Foraminiferida, Middle Triassic of China): Morphology, Taxonomy, Philogenelsis.- The genus Paratriasina HE, 1980, known so far only from the Middle Triassic of the Eastern Tethys (China) is redescribed and placed into the porcelanaceous superfamily Cornuspiracea SCHULTZE, family Arenovidalinidae ZANINETTI & RETTORI, n. fam., subfamily Paratriasininae ZANINETTI & RETTORI, n. subfam. Indeed, on the basis of a morphological revision, Paratriasina cannot be considered to be either in relationship with Meandrospira (as suggested by HE YAN, 1980, in the original description), or with Triasina (as suggested by LOEBLICH & TAPPAN, 1988). Paratriasina, in our opinion, evolved from Arenovidalina, a Triassic isomorph of the paleozoic genus Hemigordius, as well as Paratriasina is a morphological equivalent of Shanita. Arenovidalina, on the other hand, has to be placed at the origin of the Ophtalmidiidae, which first developed in the Middle Triassic.
