- Abstract
The work underlines the risk of preconceived readings that could induce to think the emigrant as a "pure" product of the culture of origin. Instead, an unforeseen hypothesis is taken into consideration: that those who abandon their homeland somehow force themselves to be what a "true" moroccan or indian or senegalese, or other, "should be". The work uses the results of a research carried out for a degree thesis in Psychology in Pavia, having as its object the identity of the sons of immigrants, born in Italy, conducted through interviews with six adolescents (three boys and three girls) and their mothers. The conclusions would seem to highlight an integration interpreted in a way that tends to underline their specificity on the part of girls, unlike that of male adolescents, in some ways unspecific, as if to cancel the differences.
